what is the speed of Tab S card slot?
I'm going to buy a microSD card and I don't know what speed should I take:
30, 50, 80 or 90 MB/s?
I don't care how fast I can copy files from PC. I just wonder what is the maximum speed of read/write by Tab S?
I dont unfortunatley have technical speeds of how quick it copies but i found that mine. Could happily copy 2GB files from internal to my UHS1 64GB sd card from samsung pretty quickly, within 1 minute.
So it is about 33MB/s. Class 10 is not enough.
So minimum Sandisk extreme?
http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/microsd/
I guess depends if you can get a UHS-2 or 3 that a tab s can make the most of? Just used A1 SD Bench and got 30 MB/s write and 13MB/s read (edit. Other way round). It is a UHS-1 samsung micro sd card. Possibly a samsung EVO or SanDisk extreme.
I have the Lexar 64gb 600x micro sdxc class 10 UHS-I 90mb/s, I have had it about 4 months now and it was previously in my Samsung Galaxy S4. I have never met transfer speeds as fast on any other microsd I have used before, nor have I been met with such stability. I have one of these cards in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S for storing any media (books, music and movies) and haven't had any issues still. I also have another in my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 I which I play music from every single day.
As I said, I have had the card for a few months now, and I have used it in 3 different devices, all with outstanding performance. The origin SanDisk microsd cards I purchase (2x 32Gb micro sdhc ultra) I had to return 3 times before I had a reasonably stable working product. I am not dissing SanDisk nor promoting Lexar. I just want to share the experiences I have had recently.
I hope this helps. Message me if anyone has a question.

Can you make a speed test in A1 SD Bench and post results (Tab S)?
A1 SD test results.
The first picture is the test results from my lexar 64gb sdxc 600x UHS-I
The second picture is a comparison using SanDisk Ultra 32gb sdhc.
Testing device is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM-T700).

As for the max read/write speeds of the tablet, I don't know. But per Samsung, it is fully capable of the PRO sdcard. I have the Samsung 64GB PRO microsd card in my note 10.1 2014 edition and often save HD video to the card and watch them directly from the card and it works great. You should definately go with the pro if you want a fast card, like I said, it works great in my 2014 edition. :good:
So why not go the 128gb or Sandisk 200gb sd card?
The 200gb card works fine and I have hd video on it that works great...

So the Note also works with those 200gb cards then?
I currently have a 64gb card on my Note, but the higher capacity ones also work I might as well buy that, means I can share the same content instantly on both my tabs and laptops

Yep, they're sdxc format same as the 64gb and 128gb sd cards. Theoretically, it has been mentioned, sdxc should be able to go as high as 2Tb but 200gb is the biggest micro sd card out there at the moment.
Hi, I was looking for a New MicroSd card for my G4;
I already have a 32gb samsung Pro sd (U3, 90r/80w) which is really fast, but that space in not enough anymore for me.
I saw a 128gb Kingston sd (U1, 45r/10w) for 41€ (or 64gb for 18€), but that write speed makes me flinch :/
Is 10mb/s enough for smartphone use (photos are saved in it, rec. very few videos in FHD 30/60fps, music)?
For a future-proof experience, is better a 64gb U1 now and 128gb U3 in the future (when prices will drop - now is 1€/gb for Samsung pro+ cards)?
Thanks, have a good day.

10MB write is speed is very low for 128GB card! Don't buy it. Buy an U3 card if you will use 128GB high capacity. I suggest you to use 32 or 64GB untill you buy 128GB. But becareful. Research speed before you buy.

10 MB/s write speed is std on sandisk class 10 128GB or even 200GB.
It goes up to 40MB/s for the 64Gb sandisk extreme. Am also looking for a bigger capacity extreme card but its not available in my market as yet.
Dear all,
I am trying to establish the max SD card I can use in my Tablet. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 (Wi-Fi) bought in the UK.
The full specs state 128G samsungcom-uk-tablets-galaxy-tab-s2-9-7-t813-SM-T813NZKEBTU but that is simply not true. I am currently using a 256G Samsung Evo Plus card (
Funnily, the Samsung US website reports something different from the UK one (samsungcom-us-support-owners-product-galaxy-tab-s2-9-7-wi-fi), namely:"External Memory/microSD™ Capacity Up to 400GB with a microSD™, up to 128GB"
I would like to expand from 256 to 400 (amazonuk-gp-product-B074RNRM2B-ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza) but ideally I have some reassurance that it will actually work in my device.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
also curious if anyone had luck with a 400gb card in their tab S2.
Not sure about that but I just fitted a samsung evo plus 512 G and it works perfectly
Hope it helps

Your thread title references the T810, but you asked about T813. Which one do you have?
Anyway, the max advertised SD card size id dependent on the file format that the android version with which the tablet ships with is compatible.
If you're running a custom rom of the same version as the latest stock that's available for either model, rest assured that your 400GB card is more than compatible

Assuming I'm not wrong, it supports MicroSDXC which is theoretically capable of 4TB. Obviously though no such cards exist yet. But I can say my stock and custom ROMs for my T-713 support my new 400GB card.
My wife's Galaxy Tab S2 8" is not rooted, same stock as from the factory. She has tons of pictures. Can anyone confirm a Sandisk 512 Extreme SD Micro card will work in these tablets?
I do wonder also if the units default to a certain speed where the more expensive and faster SD cards will not make a noticeable difference.
Really I am just looking for a 400gb or 512gb sd card that is reliable. She already has 248gb of pictures!
My Stock SM-T813 running Android 7.0 is currently using a Sandisk 400GB card with no issues.

I just got official green evo 512gb card from Samsung this holiday for $30 because of rebate from Samsung pay reward points. Yes it work in my Galaxy tab s2 9.7 sm-t813.
The spec for the Tab S4 states the memory is "expandable up to 400GB via microSD card".
Has anyone tried to install a 512GB micro SD card?

Thank you. Much appreciated.
Just a heads up, most OEM's only list the sd cards available at the time of launch. This is a proven fact that this size works but how can you say a 2 tb card will work if it hasn't been tested?
They will NEVER state that a higher card will work if it hasn't been tried as this is false advertising and can lead to being sued if later it turns out to be false.
Best advice, theoretical limit of SDXC is 2 Tb, if your phone/tablet can handle a 64gb sd card it should be able to handle anything up to that, beware of format though (FAT32, exFAT OR NTFS) as some devices are limited by software...
And this has been discussed before....
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s4/accessories/best-memory-card-t3937631
Per that thread, Ultramag also has a 512gb card
And I've used an external 1TB hard drive without problems; the system sees it as a USB storage drive. Only complication is that it is NTFS. How I wish NTFS played better with Android.
I've gone back and forth on which brand to go with for 512MB; most reviews suggests SanDisk Extreme has the best performance (higher read speeds + equal write speeds), but it is nearly twice the cost of Samsung, PNY, and others ($160ish vs $90ish). I wish I could get a 1 TB SanDisk, but way outside my price zone. I'm planning on going with PNY once my CC rewards Amazon card gets delivered.

So I got my new card. I couldn't be happier. My write speed has gone from 15 MB/s to 50 MB/s. Read speed is 80MB/s.
My old card:
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - up to 100MB/s read speed and no write speed specified, Class 10, U1, Full HD, A1
My new card:
PNY U3 Pro Elite MicroSD Card - 512GB, Class 10, U3, V30, A2, up to 100MB/s read speed and up to 90MB/s write speed
I don't pretend to fully understand all the techno babble related to micro SD cards -- U-This, V-That, Class-Whatever, Up-To-Speed that isn't attainable in real life. But this is noticeably faster for transferring from internal memory to the external card.
Go for the highest speed ratings you can -- it is worth it.
Joe
FYI, because I read $160 for a 512GB card, I just bought a SanDisk Extreme 400GB at Amazon.de (ASIN B07FCQRN9K, sold and shipped from Amazon) for EUR 74. It's back at EUR 99 right now, but I bet it will some down again before Christmas. Also the Samsung 512GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC Evo Select (ASIN B07MKSGZM6) is at $65 right now. That's the same card as the Samsung Evo Plus, it's just a rebrand for Amazon. It has pretty lousy *random* write speeds, and thus no A1 or A2 rating, but is fine for sequential writes, so if you're worried about copying larger files from internal storage, it should be just as fast as a SanDisk Extreme doing that.
And I just see that amazon.com has the 400 GB extreme for $78 right now, so if you don't strictly need the extra 112 GB, you can save the extra 50-60 bucks. So these days, if you aren't setting your mind on a specific model you can get good value for the money.
