I mistakenly enabled Secure Startup.
Now TWRP requires a PIN too, plus when I boot up.
And I can't disable it!
I've disabled Lockscreen PIN plus saying "No" to PIN on boot.
I still require a PIN to boot up even though the lockscreen PIN is disabled!
I've gone into data/system to delete the relevant lockscreen files too.
Anything else I can do?

Hi buddy The default password in TWRP is "default_password" (without quotation marks) , try that and if that doesn't work you may have to decrypt your device meaning you will wipe and lose all your data ... Before you wipe wait for some more responses as there maybe a better method , hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply.
The PIN works for TWRP.
What I'm trying to do now is disable the Secure Startup so TWRP doesn't need the PIN, and neither does boot up.
My phone used to only require a PIN the unlock the lock screen. I'm trying to revert to that.

Hi buddy , I believe the only way to remove secure boot is by going into settings / security / screen lock , try changing your lockscreen type from pin to pattern etc and see if the option comes up for secure boot and if it does click on no thanks apart from that I think you will have to backup everything and decrypt your phone but as always wait for more responses just in case someone knows a better method..... Good luck.
Yup, I went into Screen Lock, changed the lockscreen type and did remove the Secure Boot.
But it's still happening, that's why I'm stumped and seeking help.

Thank you ... can't tell if it's a bug, seems like a dumb thing to permanently encrypt a phone after turning on a setting

Have been using various versions for sometime CyanogenMod without issues. S-off Super CID.
Recently updated to cm-13.0-20160511-NIGHTLYand the latest TWRP. I noticed I could no longer boot to bootloader. When I tried, the phone would shut down. This happened whether using the reboot menu or TWRP .
I couldn't get anywhere, so I wiped everything and installed Nandroid backup of a stock sense ROM through TWRP. Now the sense ROM keeps asking for my password to decrypt storage. I enter the password I used with Cyan, which doesn't work. After 50? tries, it reboots into TWRP, resets the phone, and immediately reboots to back to sense with the same result. I seem to be stuck in a loop.
Still unable to get to HTC bootloader, and I can no longer boot to TWRP either. The phone is also no longer seen by my toolkit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I used the encryption utility provided in CyanogenMod. If I could just get back into TWRP, I could at least restore what I had before.

You might want to try to decrypt with the password 'default_password' as this is the default password for CM encryptions. The lock screen passphrase IS NOT the disk encryption password. It's a known problem with cyanogen. (I assume) You may have assumed that the lock screen password was what it was in CM but it's not. When you get in, make sure to change the disk encryption password (with a terminal sort of program while in root) using
because cryptfs changepw password default_password <new password here>
Really hopes this helps.
It's a CM problem, so just dw and calm down xD
Let me know how this pans out :good:

I think you should wait for the phone to run out of battery or try leaving it off for a bit and try getting into bootloader again. You can try a hard reset with power+volup+voldown then keep holding the down button after you feel the buzz. I don't see any other way you can do it. If you can get there, there's a good chance you can get into recovery and wipe data. It'll wipe everything but it should work.
It should work because while I was reading up on how the encryption works for both sense and cyanogen, they both encrypt the /data so if you wipe that you should be good to go
You should be able to side load a ROM on

Still the same. I haven't been able to get it to use up the battery yet. The screen keeps turning off after a about 30 seconds, so the battery is lasting forever! Think I have myself a pretty paperweight.
I have the same problem but I fixed my phone
if your phone not charged use original charger for the phone
-first, remove any sim card or memory card
- [ hold volume down + home button (if you don't have home button skip) + power button]
- press volume down this will rester your phone
- your phone now will work fine
- now Go to settings > lock and security > disable encryption
- no turn off your phone after disabling encryption
- now insert your sim card and memory card
- turn on your phone now everything is fine ..
Good Luck
Hello,
Can anyone advise me in this issue please? I already did lots of refresher but no lock. please help me?
I have A Verizon Samsung Note 4 (SM-N910V) that is protected by a lock screen (PIN code). the LCD screen broke/shattered on it. I replaced the screen. Now the passcode is not working and I'm not able to access the phone anymore.
The method I used to replace the screen was not by replacing the LCD screen/digitizer. I simply bought a different Verizon Samsung Note 4 that is in excellent condition. then I replaced the motherboard. (Meaning, I took the motherboard from the old phone and put it in the new phone I bought) so the home button, speakers, mic, volume buttons, power button, menu button, back buttons, case, everything else, etc is all from the new phone. Everything is connected correctly. the touch screen and all the other buttons work perfectly.
Does anyone know if replacing the screen in this method I used would have caused my passcode or PIN number not to work anymore?
is there anyway to bypass the passcode password screen WITHOUT losing any data?? please help me!
-Android Version: 6.0.1
-Build: N910VVRS2CQA1
-***NOT Rooted***
-Stock recovery
-USB debugging is NOT turned on.
-Phone is NOT linked to a Samsung account.
-Phone is linked to a Google account. but Android device manager does not offer locking/unlocking feature since the phone is already screen locked.
-Can't overwrite custom recovery with Odin because of the security lock.
-Can't factory reset because I don't want to lose data. so no wipe.
-Can't root because I don't want to lose data.
-Bought and tried Dr.fone software for android to bypass lock screen but it did NOT work.
When I try to flash the phone (with Odin) Odin Fails. and I get this error on the phone:
Secure Check Fail : Recovery
Custom Binary(recovery) Blocked by R/L
any help please would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Can you access/see your file system via Windows in either download or recovery mode? Or even with a OTG cable and thumb drive? If so, back your stuff up and do a full wipe.
Hi DelphinusMinor
thanks for replying . No my file system is not accessible.
any other suggestions please?
You should be able to bypass the lockscreen (with some time and patience), by expoliting some security holes in older firmwares. It worked for me but I had to find some old and exploitable firmware. The older the better I would say. Search rootjunky Frp bypass videos on youtube.

09mysh, can you please explain more with more details please? what exactly worked for you and how?
how can I install an older firmware? every time I try to flash the phone with a different recovery (with Odin) Odin Fails. and I get this error on the phone:

Is my problem FRP?? I don't know if thats the issue, my issue is bypassing the key pin code/password lock.
I appreciate your help.

09mysh,
Again, my problem is not FRP. My problem is bypassing the android lock screen. I don't want to lose any data, thus I can't do a factory reset. (please read my post carefully)
Thank you!

Hi everyone..
I will go into the main point directly..
firstly my phone run out of the battery then the phone slept.. I plugged the charger to get the phone powered on again...
after that the phone started and asked me for the pattern..
then I entered the pattern I save but the phone says that the pattern is wrong and I swear that pattern I use every day
now the phone is locked and I tried to tap the "Forgot Password" button but it says that all data on the phone will be erased and that will be impossible for me :crying:
Please advice me what should I do regarding that the phone still in the warranty period!
the phone is Note 5 AI global version..
thanks in advance
If you have twrp installed then its easy to delete lock pattern. If you are stock then not so sure.. Anyways patterns dont just change, im sure you must be confusing something.

It wont affect warranty. And yes it will delete patern.
I did something stupid, unfortunately...
In short:
My Gboard is frozen, my USB debugging setting is off (so can't use ADB commands), and encrypted, so I can't enter the password in android start screen because no keyboard is popping out
Any Ideas how to fix that? is re-flashing the whole ROM is the only option? (I am on stock, rooted, no TWRP).
In long:
In case you are wondering how this stupid situation happened... I installed OpenKeyboard, and on the login screen, it was always popping out instead of Gboard (or at least that what I thought), and when enabling it first time, I did not got a message like "you will not be able to login using this keyboard etc..." as it usually shows..., so I assumed, that finally a privacy friendly & secure keyboard that supports first screen login, so I frozen Gboard finally, and forgot that I disabled the USB debugging some time ago....
Tried from fastboot to use adb, but, predictably, adb can't see my device, I wonder if there is any other way to fix this, thank you in advance.
