Just got my VZW galaxy nexus, and im loving it so far, but have noticed something odd: toward the top of the screen (about 1/4 of the way down from the top) there seems to be a very slight green tint, noticeable only when looking at a dark background (like the settings menu).
It's kind of hard to explain, does anyone else have something similar on their phones? Is this normal for amoled screens or should I ask for a replacement phone?
i believe it has to do with it being a pentile screen... well, 'HD' pentile, but still..
i'd say if you try an exchange, make sure you the test the other in store first.
can anyone with a galaxy nexus please post a photo of their phone on the settings menu? (scroll all the way down)

Pretty sure the setting menu is a background gradient with an intended color shift.
But yeah, mine has a blueish/greenish hue if I tilt the phone away or towards me in portrait mode. Straight-on, I don't notice anything.
yeah i am talking about viewing straight on
mine has this greenish tint slightly at the top right screen...
that settings menu then scroll all the way down is normal.. the color is not as dark as the top. I'm seeing greenish tint when on white background
I have a very light greenish tint on the right side of the phone on white backgrounds with text when at low/automatic brightness. The green goes away when I bump brightness to 40%+.
Did you try that?
Oddly, when I ran pixel checker, the pure white background has no green tint to it at all.
Yeah, at low brightness I see a tint/haze but at full brightness, everything looks beautiful.
Welcome to the world of pentile.
I see the same green tint on my screen. I thought it was normal, but I compared it to another unit today and saw that my display was both dimmer at the same brightness level and had a greenish cast and different color temperature than the unit I was comparing it to. I'm not sure if this is within the normal variance for these displays, but my phone certainly looks worse to me than the one I compared it to.
Both units also showed a green/blue tint when viewed off axis but with greater discoloration on mine. The second unit showed almost no discernible tint when viewing a white screen straight on unlike mine.

i have the same problem. Sometimes (usually after a power down and restart) my entire screen is very dark and has a, very obvious, green tint to it. I compared my phone to my girlfriends at the same display setting and the tint is very obvious (especially when i'm viewing menu, text messages, browser). When i adjust the brightness it seems to make it less obvious, but still there. However after certain power down and restart this "green tint" seems to 'go away' only to either gradually re-appear or just happen when my phone self adjusts to "automatic brightness" setting.
p.s. my phone also, had another minor issue of random re-start when listening to music (via google music) and adjusting the sound effects option. After that restart my phones display was significantly tinted and dark. Weird, Either way getting a replacement unit tomorrow.
Mine has a very slight green tint on the left hand side of the screen when at the lowest brightness and viewing a white background.
I normally have the brightness bumped up a bit, but it still bugs me when I have it low
EDIT: Checked pixel checker, has the green tint. I can definitely see it on the keyboard as I'm typing this though
I took my unit in to Verizon today for an exchange. New one doesn't have as significant of color shifting or banding issues.

yeah i got mine replaced the next day, all good now. No green tint, reduced banding, and much better viewing angles (the first one heavily tinted green or pink colors when viewing it from the right or left side, respectively)
Alright, got a replacement today.
No green tint that I can see, almost no banding and the colors don't change like, at all when I tilt the phone.
Now my nexus truly is perfect

Sorry, I find this very hard to believe. *ALL* pentile AMOLEDs change colours like crazy when you look at them at a sharp angle. It's a characteristic trait of this kind of display.
Pics from various angles or it didn't happen. ;-)

Yeah, I was exaggerating, but compared to how bad it was with the other one its crazy. Very less noticeable than my first one

I hate the yellow tint of the Moto X Force, and I try to fix this.

Wow. Good find! This is the ONLY app I have found that actually *decrease* RGB channel levels with respect to base levels. All other apps only increase levels. By increasing channels, you wind up removing those inky black on AMOLED screens. So, when your brightness levels increase, the blackness takes on the color of the increased color channel, which of course is bad.
I do question your method of removing the yellowish whites of the Moto X. The color temp adjuster slid all the way to the right at 6500 is essentially no filter at all, as its the default color temp. Moving it to the left warms up the white balance, but doesn't result in whiter whites. What I found to improve whiteness was to keep the white balance at 6500, but in the color channels, reduce both RED and GREEN channels to 0.949 and 0.937, respectively. I just keep these settings around the clock and don't make use of all the other filters.
So, this is the only app that I've found where you can maintain your inky blacks while actually *raising* the color temp, or at least raise BLUE levels with respect to the other 2 channels.

Thanks to @floepie I discovered the CF.Lumen app (by @Chainfire) and it works really well, however, I find (it can be is only an impression) that my battery quickly empty since I have apply his tweak.
I also find the screen a little bit to much blue, I think a softer adjustment would be better (but its better than the ugly stock yellow tint).
The question is simple how to modified the setting without unbalanced the screen and without loss the "AMOLED inky black" ?
Modified this will increase battery drain of the screen ? (I feel that it increases but I'm not sure)
I hope with your answers I will be able to modified this thread and create a tuto !
Thanks you guys !
Use screen balance instead. Works great on my 6p and Moto X Force.

Hello,
Are you satisfied with the screen quality? Mine has a yellowish tint at the bottom.
I don't see a yellow tint
You mean like this?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Huawei/comments/9wqfrw/help_has_anyone_experienced_this_lcd_backlight/
If yes, then yeah I have that too :/
Not too thrilled about that
I have something similar bleed, but it's only visible a very low brightness, like very near to 1%, I'm using display tester app to see it, with auto brightness in dark room isn't obvious.
Regarding a yellow tint, I think that my bottom half display as a slight warm white, it depends of brightness and the room light, angle that I watch the screen.
If you're colorblind, please disregard this thread. Rate this thread to express how you deem the color saturation and accuracy of the Samsung Galaxy S10+'s display. A higher rating indicates that you think that color accuracy is very high and saturation is excellent.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I hope samsung reads this!
I had posted this on another thread. But it is a real issue!
I'm having a serious problem with color saturation and actualy changing colors of objects. Im guessing that is related to color saturation. But burnt brown is not orange, turquois is not regular blue. Light blue is not white, reds are not orange or a kids red paint color.. This has some serious issues. I do jewelry and cabochons from natural materials IE Stone and metals.. This is swful! There also seems to be a lack of when different colors in the same spectrumare together being blended or blurred. One stone i have has some blue and green, cream and light cream.. light cream is white.. it cant differetiate there the blue and green mixed together and picks one. I can go on and on..
I also took the time to try and get some sunset photo's.. Didn't get one no matter how hard i tried... it made it daylight, it canceled out all the colors of the sunset.
Camera is awful! unneeded light added on all photos, can't find a way to adjust properly or tell it NOT TOO!. color balance.. what color balance.. changes hues of all colors. objects with multiple close colors merge into one flat color.. pulls a color in the back of front color through. reds... forget it! This is worse the my s7
I waited to get another phone thinking upgrades would be made.. this is a STEP BACKWARDS.. a few steps!
Have a similar problem
Have a similar problem
Colors are pale(Mainly skin color)
The colours of the display are the most accurate you could get on a mobile device, however this panel seems to appear slightly reddish compared to previous generations, this is because of the hardware blue light filter.
Enabling Vivid mode and choosing a colder temperature completely solves the problem.

You must have a defective unit, my sunset looks as it was when I took the photos. It wasn't the most colorful of sunsets but it is as it was. No color misrepresentations here. Action photos look fine to me as well. Yes, I realize this section is meant for the display but I had to reply to your rant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, sliding the slider to blue side should be cooler and warm the other end right?
Photo with no sunset color is the s10. The other is a camera program off playstore. That one is pretty dark for the closer objects but picked up the color.
I'm not ready to give up on the phone. Other then this issue I love the phone.

Does this effect the camera operations of just screen mode... I'm having an issue of the camera throwing out WAY too much white. Warmer obviously makes it yellowish. I dont use the Blue light filter. makes my screen yellow
---------- Post added at 02:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ----------
On the sliders.. Blue is supposed to be cool and orange/red warm.. My siders are doing the opposite!! Am I wrong?

It doesn't affect your camera or content, it's just how the display appears to you.
Make a video of the sliders and show us.

It seems to be a bug, but I thought you were talking about display temperature, not photo, the thread is for display colour accuracy
Best screen to me, better than the note 9.

I wanted to adjust the white balance to get rid of the uneven pink hue i notice on my screen, but the range the sliders work in seems quite small.
Would there be a way to make the range larger?
Pink hue due to looking at screen from an angle. Culprit oled . But yes rgb sliders aren't effective

No, looking straight from the front i notice pink clouding in certain area's of the screen. But indeed it's an oled thing.
Changing the white balance into more greenish does camouflage the issue for me, i did that on other phones.
But pitty enough the R/G/B sliders are hardly doing anything on my new A50.
Is there a custom rom in the making with good R/G/B adjustability?
