I am running VIPER4ANDROID on my Xiaomi Mi Max 3, and whilst it sounds great, even at maximum volume the sound output is far too low.
Previously on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, there were some simple values that needed increasing such as gain-media-headset. This was found in the mixer_paths using any root explorer.
With regards to Xiaomi, which values need changing to increase audio output via headphones? I do not wish to adjust the wrong values and get any issues or boot loop.
Thanks to anyone who is able to help.

Thank you so much, that did the trick, much better now.
Hi there,
I picked up my Mi Max 3 yesterday and I was very frustrated when I realized it has the quietest DAC I've ever encountered on a phone, especially since none of the reviews mentioned that and everybody was raving about it having a 3.5 port. I am not a fan of rooting nor have I ever rooted a phone successfully. I will root the phone if I absolutely have to cause right now it's simply not usable for me with this level of volume. However, I also wanted to know if everybody has this issue and my DAC is not simply faulty.

Set the region to India, it will sound way better. If you set your region to any European state you will find that the sound is too low due to some "EU rules"

I still like my Galaxy Nexus even with the newer handsets (Galaxy S III, HTC ONE X, Sony Xperia Ion..etc) out in the wild now.
Pure ICS, customizability options with the virtual navigation buttons (custom ROMs), likely to have the JellyBean OS update before others.. many things makes it a keeper y'know.
The external speaker, however, is something I still can't get used to in my GNEX. Too weak! If i'm not mistaken, it got a little better since the 4.0.x updates (can anyone confirm?) but still it's way in the quiet side.
For a while, I've been thinking if breaking the plastic of the speaker grill can actually make it louder. Wanted your opinions or experiences of something similar with other phones before I maybe decide on doing it. Thank you

Or just use cm9 or dsp manager...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Or volume+

franco's kernel updater app also has a sound increase function.
since installing aokp, the speaker has been louder too.
Put a finger in the middle of a PC speaker. Notice any difference? Of course not. That's not the reason why the speak isn't louder.

Franco Kernel is pretty much all he needs. I have zero issues with the speaker now.
I see what you're saying there guys about DSP and Vol+. I was thinking if such mod can make a better "headroom" and not just a volume increase.
I purchased the Vol+ app in the past. I just re-downloaded it to try more settings, I don't know if it's the app updates or the new tweaks I just worked on but I'm liking the results. Thank you
I've noticed a bit of a volume boost since going to 4.0.4 but I still prefer using Volume+ which gives it even more of an increase.

I am experiencing huge slowdowns, freezes, and crashes on my e975. It is only about 6 months old or so. My previous phone, HTC incredible s started doing this after it was years old. I have to restart my phone every two days or so thick really isn't acceptable. Also, hairline cracks are appearing in the screen even though I never pit anything in my pocket besides my phone... I'm using a 4.2.2 rom and yes, my boatloads is unlocked and it is rooted.

Im experiencing the same in Stock ROM. Im considering change to another ROM.
Try this, if it helps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix&hl=en
slow downs are because lg´s thermal control...
by cpu at 36°C and more, the cpu plays at 1.1Ghz... (and gpu down to 200mhz)
but dont ask me after the temperatures...
you can edit 1 file (root) to slove that problem (+display brightnes ****..)
So what is this file?
So what is this file?
To get technical, SSD (or Nand) drives needs to be optimised from times to times. While regular HDD used defrag to get thing "straight", SSD uses "Triming". Trim was not implimented until Android 4.3, all version before that would need to do it manually, with the tool in the link provided.
Try it and see if it helps.

Yesterday i was in Aventura Miami and i tried a fabolous VR in a Samsung corner but they told me is not already for sale.
I never tried something so good as VR.
After they told me it work inserting in the headset the Samsung Note 4.
I realized is the same idea of the Google Cardboard working with a pair of lens high resolution of most of full hd android and the gyroscope AMAZING !!!
But i really don't want to built the horrible headset made of paper...
I would like something seems more technologic made of plastic with better lens durable and overall working better...
I found Durovis Dive that seems what i'm looking for.
http://www.durovis.com/index.html
Did you ever tried?Work well is confortable?
Did you find anything better?
I'm really excited cause that's a real revolution at low price for VR a new world is opening !!!

I just order from Amazon for around 30 dollars the Color Cross VR Headset cause after a little research i find out they are right now the best experience quality/price from what the users say.
Obviusly i don't expect they will be as good as Samsung Gear VR wich i tried again and is trurly an immersive experience with an amazing FOV.
But the problem with Samsung VR is it design and will it work just with Note 4 and i love my S4 so i will not buy that headset...
But don't worry the BIG KILLER DEVICE is coming out for 99$ the Zeiss Vr One will fit all Smartphone from 4.7 to 5.2 so should be perfect for my S4 expecting a terrific FOV of 100°
This device work well with full hd and powerfuls smartphones but the real difference is made from optics and i think Zeiss is not second to anyone in this field...
Hoping in December i could buy the " VR ONE " !!!

WTF !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! I realize this is a small concern for many - but what is the quality of the headphone jack/amp, esp. with higher impedance headphones? The A1 had a beefy amp which could push beefier headphones, but I wonder if Xiaomi kept it for the A2L.
I remember when Mi A1 was launched that the audio output quality was highlighted. The same thing isn't happening with this phone, so I think the amp is not as good as the previous.
But I could be wrong.
I'm using it with a very low impedance headphone, and I do get a bit more noise/hiss than with my previous phone (Oneplus 3). I was able to improve the quality quite a bit through installing Viper4Android though. Just install it through Magisk (Viper4Android FX Materialized v1.7 2.5.0.5.). Works straight away.

That was my thought exacly - and my concern. It would be a pity.

Hiss was a problem with the A1 too, precisely because of the amp, when paired with low-impedance phones.
Well, I guess I will have to wait for the phonearena review...

I should add though that I'm using modified Etymotic ER-4P's. They are already pretty treble rich out of the box with a 27 ohm impedance, but I've changed the cords so that the actual impedance is probably closer to 10 now. I like them this way, but they aren't very forgiving and reveal anything..
For those who can understand those numbers:

taken from the GSMArena Mi A2 Lite review
GSM Arena has a nice explanation of those values somewhere in their website. The A2 does well.
Still running Android 10, I have 3 OTA's saved on my device. 14.0.28_OTA_0280, 14.0.29_OTA_0290, 14.0.30_OTA_0300.
Can I run the latest or do i need to step through them all?
Sure, use oxygen updater app
Heh, Sure to which? Step through or not?

"Sure" to jump to Android 11.0.4.1
I did the 1st one and it killed speaker volume, suffered finger print reader, sluggish performance, auto dimmer. More I'm sure, can't remember it all.
I played hell and hoop jumping to get back to 10. There have been several releases. Are things OK now?

Thanks, Think I'll stay on 10, I don't see any celebrations about the 7t on 11. Almost got sucked into a Pixel 6P but a neghbor sent one back for heat and battery, a co-worker for crap finger print. Both of which installed updates.

Great words!!!
I experienced the same problems that's why rolled back to OOS10 and would never update even to OOS12 which is also not that good yet
I moved on to the 8t. Totally different phone, much better, got the max RAM. Much better call sound quality and reception. The only thing I miss is the better macro camera feature on the 7t.
