How to manually update the camera APP? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

I haven't updates my phone since day 1 in hopes that a bootloader unlock method may be discovered. I have been manually updating many APPs by going to the about page and using the update link there. There doesn't seem to be an about page for the camera though so I haven't been able to do this. I may have updated it once through Galaxy APPs but I think it was after receiving a notification. When I search Galaxy APPs there is no Camera APP shown.

non market mandatory update for market yahoomail app

I have downloaded the yahoomail app from the market a while ago and it was working fine. But since yesterday I am getting a mandatory update for the app from a non market source. That menu keeps popping up and if I cancel that menu the app shuts down. I am wary of installing the non market update because it is literally asking for every permission on the planet including making phone calls and sms, read contact data etc. I can't understand why a mail application needs to have permissions for making phone calls or sms etc.
Can anyone here confirm if they are getting the non market mandatory update for the market released yahoomail app. And see if this is a legitimate update as when downloaded it shows as if it is not from yahoo. The app is unusable nowand even after uninstalling and reinstalling from the market I still keep getting the pop-up menu to download the mandatory non market update which I am reluctant to do unless I am sure it is from yahoo.
The update is automatically popping up from mobiledl.zenfs.com as seen after downloading it and I can't use the yahoomail app now because of not wanting to install the non market mandatory update and is about 2.2mb in size
I have two HTC desire phones both unbranded handsets, unlocked, stock 2.2 Rom and have not rooted the phones and am getting the non market mandatory update on both the handsets when I try to open the official yahoomail app which I had downloaded from the market.

Thanks for the link. Looks like they have pulled the update file as I am no longer getting the update notice and can use the app again now.

[Q] Market reports updates available via Notifications - but where are they?

As the subject says. I get notifications to say there's updates for 2 of my apps. But then in the My Apps list in the market, none of the apps have any indicator to to say they can be updated. I've opened each app's info screen and none appear to have updates (or if they do, there's nothing to signify it).
Anyone else?
I get that as well, usually after a few hours the button appears for you to update, but also I get certain apps that want to update but its the same update from last time, weird.

I was getting that and discovered 2 apps in the "not installed" section of the 'my apps' page in the market that when clicked on had a option to 'update' instead of install and one of them was google maps. Haven't had that happen since so go check that page.

Google forcing (without permission) app updates

I doubt anyone ever wanted not to update an app, but I have Tweedle installed, and I want to stick to a particular version. I've unchecked automatic updates in Google Play settings, but twice Google has forced the update on me without asking me.
Today though, it started downloading the update, I stopped it. Then after a while, it started doing the same thing again, and I stopped it. Third time though, I wasn't around, so the update was installed. Delinking the app from the Play Store using Titanium Backup doesn't work either.
However, my point is, if I don't want to update an app, why the hell is Google shoving it down my throat even without my permission, and moreover when I have denied it?
Addendum: I have unchecked automatic updates of the said app individually too.
It might not be google doing it. I remember reading Facebook bypassing google updates a while back.
Are you sure it's being updated via the play store?

yup. Had the Play Store open, and saw the download progress.
Tried detaching the app from the market using titanium backup?
Yes, as mentioned in the op

Issues with recent Google app updates?

Just got the Note 8 a few weeks ago when I saw it on sale and loving it but having some issues with the most recent round of updates to some Google apps. Looked through the threads but did not see anything regarding this so apologies if it has been covered.
This started with the update to Google Search (Google Now) a week or so ago. Once it updated I couldn't use google search or open google now, it would always force close. I unistalled the update and it worked again. Later it reinstalled and now the updated version is working.
Then came the update to Google Chrome. Same thing, Chrome begins to open but before it fully loads it force closes. Unfortunately reverting and then getting the updates again hasn't helped on this one.
Finally, I got the Google Keyboard update last night and this one was even worse. I had Google Keyboard set as my default and not only would it not open up and kept giving me force close errors it also seemed to really hurt system performance. It took two or three touches to get anything to respond. I went in and disabled the Google keyboard and system performance returned to normal.
Has anyone else seen these types of issues? Is there something I need to do to resolve them? I can live without the keyboard but really missing Chrome.
(Note 8 is completely stock, no root)
OK,
As for Google updates...
Keyboard should not update, as it is not part of the OEM package.
You may have to do a factory reset and let the tablet auto update before reinstalling. Some updates may not start right away, may take a few hours to show.
Once they start you should be good with the google stuff.
Yes I have also got problem described at OP. Have to Uninstall updates applied on Chrome, Google translate etc.

I know that the Google Keyboard isn't part of the OEM package, I've installed it and of course it was going to update since they just pushed a new update to Google Play. it was working just fine until the most recent update just like Search and Chrome were. It just seems that there seems to be some incompatibility with something in the Note 8 and several of the recent updates. Similar comments from Note 8 users can be seen on the Play store comments about these updates.
After continuing to play with it I think I have Chrome working again, at least for now, after unistalling updates, reinstalling updates, clearing data on the app, etc. Considering other comments of similar problems on play store just thought I would check here with people and see if anyone here had any previous experience with Note 8 having issues like this since I am new to the particular device.

Well, I have always had issues with Chrome and the most of all Music Player, and never bothered with googles keyboard.
All other updates worked fine for me. I am using the latest search with enhanced voice, maps, earth.
I have used Dolphin browser and found it worth while, but replaced it with the latest Firefox. It may be a bit cumbersome, but it does make good shortcuts to book marks and is the best at emulating a Desktop browser, plus there are plugins galore if you go that route.

Apps auto updating

I checked off the box in the play store to not allow auto updating. However some apps are still auto updating. For example fb and instagram auto updated. I still get notifications that there are updates available for other apps. Is there something i can do to shut off auto updates for these apps? Thank you
there is an option in gplay store too for removing notification for apps update. facebook and instagram update because there is facebook installer or so installed on system partition, which is not related to gplay store and therefore they still update...but why do you want to turn off auto update and even the notification?
Go to Settings / Apps and deactivate everything with Facebook or Instagram in its Name
You maybe have to choose "show system" in the Apps Menu

Sorry for late reply. I do not want apps updating without my permission. A lorry of times these updates make the app worse for me.
I also noticed that since the last sysytem update (2.38) my battery is significantly worse.
Im thinking about rooting they phone just to get rid of fb and instagram on phone. Wanted to dl the old fb apk that did both need messenger.

I do the same thing, I like to read what has changed in apps before updating also. there has been many times where the update has broken an app and I couldn't go back due to it not being a system app. I like viper rom cause in the installer I can remove system apps like facebook and Instagram before the initial system install and never have them auto update.
