I have purchase a dell rotated screen
https://pcmonitors.info/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/U2414H-portrait.jpg
And A USB C to HDMI adaptor, both work fine.
But I can not get the external hdmi output screen to show portrait mode propertly.
(The only one XDA portrait picture attached shown on dell screen propertly is due to app freeze during landscap/portrait rotated animation)
=====================
I have try to set up through ADB command or directly modified the build.prop but no effect.
Like this :
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/117003/allow-rotate-into-portrait-mode-but-do-not-rotate-external-display
I tried :
adb shell setprop persist.demo.hdmirotation portrait
adb shell setprop persist.demo.hdmirotationlock false
adb shell setprop persist.demo.singledisplay true
but no effect.
The only way might be trying the modified the framework, but its hard for me.
Any possible for OP5 to show properly on a HDMI/exteranl portrait mounted screens through ADB commad?
Thanks.
Found any solution? Even with my rooted device and these settings it won't work.

As the topic states, is there anyway to change hte screen size on a FireTV Stick? I have a 720p plasma that doesnt have a disable for the overscan and since I cant resize the display size on a Stick anymore, I am kinda hostage to losing the sides of everything.

Adb you can. I use adblink. Open command and type this below. These are settings I used. Do it from a laptop in front of the tv and you can watch it change as you type in numbers. Few tries to get it right
wm overscan 42,40,40,25

Hi
I had a cracked screen before and I bought the component to fix it myself, (replacing the screen using service just cost too much in UK, I can almost buy another brand new phone) however the lower half of the screen does not work.
Is there any app that use to make my screen smaller so that I can actually use the usable section of the screen only please?
Search for Reachability and look at related apps. Those are designed to avoid the need to reach the top of your screen. Possibly they can work the opposite way too?
There's a shell command that can be used to "ignore" a part of the screen; "wm overscan". You can execute it with root privilege or from adb :
Code:
wm overscan [left],[top],[right],[bottom]
For example of you want to ignore 200 pixels from the bottom and 100 pixels from the top:
Code:
wm overscan 0,100,0,200
To cancel the effect :
Code:
wm overscan reset
By curiosity, having also faced trouble with touch screen after changing it, did you buy a screen already fixed in the frame or did you do it yourself ?
Hi, I've been annoyed by how tall the navigation bar is on our screen. Fortunately it turns out the old adb trick still works in Pie. The navigation gestures are still working fine with this change.
First make sure you have the "adb" command line tool. Then type one of the following command:
A very thin bar with almost nothing displayed on it (just the top black lines of the navigation bar), a bit aggressive but my favorite: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-90
If you want to keep the button visible, this looks fine: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-50
To get back to the normal settings: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Unfortunately, changing the second parameter to a negative value does push the status bar upward, but it won't reduce its thickness (due to the screen notch).
See the attached screenshot to check the difference between 0 and -90.
Do you know of a way to swap the back and recent buttons in 10? Seems like the old way is broken.
No, I prefer to use Android 10's gestures instead. Which removes the navigation bar, similarly to what I was doing above.
I enjoy slightly oversaturated color on my phone screen.
Download any terminal emulator, grant it root privileges by typing 'su' and hit enter.
Next, copy and paste this code into the terminal :
service call SurfaceFlinger 1022 f X.X (x.x sets saturation up to 2.0)
I set mine to 1.25 but you can set it anywhere from 0.0 to 2.0.
Use this code to permanently set the code on boot:
setprop persist.sys.sf.color_saturation X.X
Enjoy!
What are the default values for saturation?
And to revert this back can we use default vaules in above commands?
I'm trying to figure a way to get colors as close to OOS as possible. Anyone know any way to accomplish this? I remember way back on Galaxy Nexus we had a thread where people shares their color configurations in Franco Kernel updater app. Every rom I've used it seems the colors are off. If anyone knows of anything please share. I'm going to search more now just saw this and figured I'd comment..
Is there a wsy to set the calibration mode too? In advanced, rgb or p3, manual, etc. Sometimes when powering on the display, the screen is washed out. Thanks!
