Hi Guys,
I want to code a new Launcher to improve my px5 A53 8core MTCE device experience. If possible will send out for community.
I want to know below things from you guys, please tell me want you want in your car.
1. What's your top 5 most frequent use function / apps?
2. Does your HU connect network in daily use, through wifi or 4G?
3. Any other experiences suck but you do really need?
4. Any other thoughts / brain storm / your wildest ideas in your car?
I am serious about this and will release minimum variable product base on fellows' need and improve later.

Hi, this is my answer, hope to help you and have the possibility to test your launcher when ready:
1) DAB+, Google MAPS, Sygic, FM Radio, MP£ Player , Amazon Music
2) Through wifi, using my cell phone for tethering
3) My unit doesn't support split screen ( I don't know why Xtrons disabled on 6.2" units), and should be nice to have some info on radio station, song playng, etc. on the screen while using GPS
I will update the tread later if some new will come in mind.
Are you in Italy? I'm curious about your carrier's data plan, does it involve an unlimited monthly data plan?

Thanks for your reply, it's weird HU don't support split screen even it's android Oreo. My px5 seems not support either.
I'll consider how to do it~
Any one guys?

Just to be more precise... the PiP function is supported with Google Maps and Youtube.
I enabled also the "Developer Options" but Split Screen is not working even forcing "Force activities to be resizable" in that menu.
Probably there is something related in build.prop:
"ro.build.type" line, change the text after = to "userdebug" from "user" to enable multi screen
Spotify, Google Maps and Radio FM.
I think the most important thing is the look does not look like a smartphone

1. Waze, Radio, Youtube, GMusic, Internet Radio
2. WiFi to a 3G Mobile Wifi
3. Not really, my only complaint is the lack of display output to Audi DIS via CAN such as song title and radio name.
4. Just a clean look, OEM style.
1. Radio, mp3 song, navigator (Google maps, waze or sigyc), phone...
2. Wifi
3. I need... I need to be able to call with voice controls, say "call Fernando" and call my contact of that name without touching anything
4. I like the blue UI Launcher, although it could be better to change the size of the widgets for example ... Also be able to show the title of the song in the status bar above, or show the name of the radio station fm
It would also be nice to include a sound control widget, rotary type, so that the sound goes up or down quickly. Or include a mute widget
The visual style should be something clean, like the new material design

1. A navigation app (maps, sygic), Music player (poweramp)
2. Wifi (through hotspot on phone)
3. Considering safety:
Custom steering wheel controls. Most cars have up/down but lack left/right. Have the launcher order its controls in a logical order, so one can navigate using up down and 'enter' with any other programmable button.
Also a simple way to switch between open apps. This is often a difficult task to do while driving. (needs too much interaction)
Voice control. Have the launcher answer to something like 'navigate to' and start associated navigation app. Other possibilities are starting any other app with voice, like 'open appxxx' or maybe music library integration (play artist, song, album).
4. Avoid cluttering of controls/icons and keep it minimalistic.
Make things like time, weather info or other vehicle specific info optional. Let the user decide what he would like to see on the home screen. Personally, when not using my navigation, I only listen to music while driving. Seeing the album-art (preferably large) and some track information is enough for me. (have player controls optional if you have swc)
One that goes beep and has simulated LEDS.
Will you guys use social apps like WhatsApp or Facebook while driving? I thinking if that's a good idea to use voice to interact with those apps.

This may not doable, the CAN data is encrypted, and it's unable to decrypt that.

I just updated my "flagship software" for Phone Edition.
(sorry for the one month of delay time)
Many many improvements, new features and fixes.
Now you can replace the default balloon message of the upcoming phone, use the fullscreen message, see the caller's photos in any size... or turn the Pocket PC completely off into the Silent Profile.
More fixes for the standard PPC2002 and WM2003 Phone Edition versions.
You can customize the view of taskbar with all default icons are still visible correctly. The only solution for Phone Edition.
Plus: skinable interface, icons, images, messages in the full version, just it going to change the name to the Phone Profiles Seriously.
The Lite Version is free update for current users.
Test it. There is a few different O/S now. Be sure it works with your device correctly.
The Trial Version works 7 days without limits.
More screenshots, descriptions on the new Home Page:
http://www.jgui.net/phoneprofiles/index.html
Read there how to customize your images, icons, message.
I open the contest for the best and fun icons for Phone Profiles.
The winners (3) will get the full version. Until the end of February.

hello,
do you consider making Polish language version of your software ?? question not only out of curiosity ..
regards, monika
My trial of version 3.1 has just finished, so I downloaded version 5 to see what has changed.
The settings interface is a big improvement, but there are two bugs that I've found which have annoyed me. Also, in version 3.1 I had nice small icons on the Today screen. In version 5 the icons are huge! Too big!
Bugs:
- When I click a profile icon, then choose a time, the click goes through the time button to the today item behind it. The profile is chosen OK, but I then have to close (for example) the Bluetooth setting dialog. Grrr!
- Last night I was browsing my offline IE favourites. As normal, every time I opened a stored page, the XDA2 tried to connect GPRS to check the page version. As normal I clicked the 'cancel' button to stop the GPRS connecting, but every time I did this, the machine turned itself off. I discovered this is because I had chosen a Phone Profile (default Silent) with the setting to turn the machine off after every call. This was a major pain in the ass. If this setting is going to cause the machine to switch off like this then I'm never going to use it - it's a wasted setting.
At the moment, Version 5 has disadvantages for me. It's not a step backwards, because the settings interface is improved a lot, but I'm not going to use the program any more. This is a pity - Version 3.1 was excellent!
Hope this helps.
Edit: More bugs? I just set the 'Loudest' profile to 'Vibrate: longer' on incoming calls. Wow. It was definitely longer. It wouldn't stop, even 30 seconds after the phone had passed the call to answerphone. I had to switch it off and back on to stop the vibration. Great.
Also on loudest profile, with SMS set to 'Sound: normal' and 'Vibrate: normal', I get no vibration or sound at all when an SMS comes in.
Also also , I can't configure MSN Messenger alerts independently, which I could in V 3.1.
Damn, my disappointment level is rising!
1. I think it is safe to see the today screen and changes of phone profiles whe it happen - just to be sure "where you are". why do you want to change the phone profle when you are with another settings dialog? if I undestood you correctly
2. you have right, I did not think in this way. I will fix it. In the meantime: just do not use "turn the power off after the call" option, easy?
thanks for you comments
Thanks for responding quickly.
More explanation:
1.
On the Today screen I have PhoneProfiles with the (large) icons visible. When I tap an icon to change profile I get the timeset buttons (15, 30, 60, 90 etc.). The timeset buttons are bigger than the area that PhoneProfiles needs, so on my screen the timeset buttons overlap the item below, which is my Bluetooth headset profile item. When I click the '---' button to select the PhoneProfile, the click activates the chosen PhoneProfile, but also hits the Bluetooth headset item.
2.
I have disabled the 'Turn power off after the call' option.
I uploaded the setup file,
problems with vibrate and fullscreen skinning fixed
btw: when you use "longer vibrate" or "pulse"
and you will not answer the call and the caller cancel the ringing
and now you want to break the vibrations
PRESS the red phone hardware buttons on tap the balloon or fullscreen message
Hi JGUI,
Nice work.
I miss one thing. Is possibel to give diferent ring tones to callers? as you can do with the pictures?

different sounds
are you sure you want it?
I noticed that when I set different sounds sometimes when I hear my phone ring I do not focus and undestand that it is ringing because my mind expects default ring I use.
in the previous version there was an options to random select sounds from one folder and this given me the same confusion as the one above, sounds changes and I do not recognize that my phone ring when I listen music or tv....
any way, of course I thought so and I can add this feature
you can keep photos and sound in one folder with names as your caller phone numbers and the program will use if found photo or sound with appreciated name to number
thanks
caller photo trial?
Hi!
@JGUI: the description and screenshots look very promising. I would like to use this program to replace the CallerId program that comes with the MDA/XDA II. CallerId is somewhat notorious, and seems to cause many problems.
However, I would like to test this feature before I shell out $39... would you consider making a trial version of the Seriously version? You could limit the caller photos to, let's say, three entries. That would be enough to test the feature, and still give enough incentive to actually buy the program!
Also, do you consider foreign language versions? I'd be happy to help you making a German version, if you want!
Best Regards
Daniel
I made
I made the trial,
of course as I made it always for all my software.
this is one setup file for all versions of Phone Profiles currently,
you install and you start to use the trial,
then you can write in settings dialog the password
to unlock to the lite version or to the full "seriously" version
depend what passwword you got.

Hi JGUI, I downloaded the trail and it look good.
One thing i miss is that whem receiving a sms I can let the red light only flash for 5 minutes up to one hour. I would like to see it flash without limit. So only when I read the sms the red light can go off.
Got it...excellent
But do I need to delete caller id monitor from start ???? I think it s not usefull now right ? with JG prog, functions are the same and I am not sure to use the two at the same time wont make some bugs Your opinion ?
Oh, and we all want configurable MSN Messenger alerts, right?

I tried the 3.xx versions but I had some bugs ...
The version 5 looks good but it is not possible to have different ring tones for contact
And 39$ it is a little bit more expansive when you see that Crazy kart only cost 15$
For that price do we have unlimited upgrade free ?
Could some users post their feedback about this version ....
Fix web site... www.jgui.com ?
JGUI:
I downloaded the Seriously version and like many of the features. However, I am trying to figure out how to set all of the features you describe. Your web site has broken links all over the place... and, moreover, it's difficult to find this software without knowing the exact link.
REQUESTED FEATURE:
It would be VERY nice to be able to "schedule" profiles to turn on and off. For example, I'd like to have silent scheduled from 10PM-6AM, then have the default turn on from there...
Thx, JS
link?
broken link?
I think it works fine:
www.jgui.net/phoneprofiles/
scheduling profiles? hmmm? I think it would be "too much".
you will forget your settings between just 4 profiles, scheduled and normal changed, very soon! and you will be wonder that your phone works in unexpected way...
I tested scheduling, my friends too....
We think that the simple tap the icon and change the profile temporary or continuously, it is the better solution...
But I'm still listening comments, awaiting... let's see what others will say...
thank you for your comments[/url]

Well, I would find that a useful feature. You could, for example, program it to go to the "quietest" profile each day from 10pm to 7am, when you're asleep.

PRadio is a Windows 8 Store App for Pandora. Unlike IE, this app allows users to stream music from Pandora recommendation service in the background. It works great on tablets such as Microsoft Surface. This app works only in the US. If you want to use it in other countries you need a US based proxy or VPN software such as openvpn.net

The app is only available in the US Store, if you are in another country you can switch to the US Store by going to "Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\ Change region."
[Update 12/14/2012]:
If you want to try out the latest version that will be available shortly on the store you will need to sideload the app. This version supports background music streaming on Surface RT even when the device is locked (Connected Standby).
Please follow the instructions given below:
1. Download Pandora_0.0.4.8_AnyCPU_Test and unzip to any folder e.g. xyz.
2. Open powershell as an administrator
3. Execute the following commands in powershell
a) set-executionpolicy unrestricted
b) cd xyz\Pandora_0.0.4.8_AnyCPU_Test
c) .\Add-AppDevPackage.ps1
[Note: Installation process might ask you to login to your Microsoft Account which is necessary to get the necessary certificates from the windows store to sign the package]
If you have feedback on the app, please post below.
What is Pandora?
Pandora Internet Radio, an automated music recommendation service and "custodian" of the Music Genome Project whose service in full is only available in the United States, with limited access in Australia and New Zealand. The service plays musical selections similar to song suggestions entered by a user. The user provides positive or negative feedback for songs chosen by the service, which are taken into account for future selections.
Wow, very nicely implemented for a third-party client! The snapped interface is very good as well. The interface when something *else* is snapped (which means it only has about 1040 pixels of width on the Surface) isn't perfect though (usable, but some stuff gets covered).
I'd be happy to sideload and test a new version.
EDIT: A bit more feedback: the app doesn't handle being backgrounded very gracefully. It will stop playing after the current song. I suppose that *could* be intentional, but it's annoying.

Thanks for the feedback, I just posted instructions to sideload the new version.
It should not stop playing after the current song, this is not intentional. Can you send me the following PRadioInformation.log file which should be present in
%appdata%\..\Local\Packages\28268splashtetra.PRadio_80qntxqrmk3vj\LocalState folder
Sorry, I should correct myself: it won't start the next song if the screen is off. Turning the screen on by itself won't start playing agian, either; you either have to use the media control and hit Play, or log in and have the app at least partially in the foreground.
If you still need the log I'll post it here in a bit.

Are you using a Surface RT or an ARM based tablet? If yes, I believe it is going into connected standby. In connected standby, windows does not let the app get the next playlist. I need to use a different set of API to support this scenario. As soon as I get hold of an ARM tablet I will add support for this. If this is not an ARM based tablet then please send me the logs.

Hi GoodDayToDie or any Surface RT user,
I have created a new version 0.3.3 of the PRadio which hopefully should work in your machine. Can you give it a try? I do not own one yet so I cannot try it myself.
Instructions are given below.
Thanks
Instructions:
1. Download Pandora_0.0.3.3_AnyCPU_Test and unzip to any folder e.g. xyz.
2. Open powershell as an administrator
3. Execute the following commands in powershell
a) set-executionpolicy unrestricted
b) cd xyz\Pandora_0.0.3.3_AnyCPU_Test

[Note: It might ask you to login to your Microsoft Account that is necessary to get the necessary certificates to sign the package]
Thanks! Yes, I'm using Surface RT. I'm sideloading your app now and will report later.
EDIT: Works fine! I had to uninstall the current (store) version first, but it preserved my configuration (you using the roaming AppData?) so that was no problem.
The music playback did cut out eventually, but I'm guessing that's intentional (just the "are you still there?" check, perhaps) since it was after an hour or so of inactivity, and as soon as I brought he app forward again it resumed. I'm on a free account, BTW (used to subscribe, but between them not creating a WP7 app and the advantages of Zune Pass instead, I let it lapse).
One piece of feedback: you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY. Other than that, love it!
Seems to be working all nice and proper for me now too, on RT.
Eats far less CPU than letting IE run in desktop mode.
Edit: Every once in a while there seems to be a delay for it loading the next song of 30-45 seconds. Not critical, just noting.
Edit2: More feedback.
1) I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
2) It seems to stop playing after an hour and a half or so, on a Pandora One account.
3) It'd be nice if it could remember the last station and start playing on launch
4) Related, it'd be nice if it automatically logged in on launch, not sending you to the login screen. Perhaps a settings option to clear the stored user settings, and make it log in automatically?
5) I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken.
6) The formatting seems to be a bit off in portrait mode, the 'Log Out' button on the top clips over the station name, and there's a considerable amount of deadspace at the bottom of the screen (probably a good 1/3 of the screen is wasted)
And, are the advertisements on it yours or Pandora's? If they're Pandora's, it'd be nice if you could detect if it's a Pandora One account.
does this work for cdn. IP addresses? regular pandora won't let cdn IP users
i know on android, you have to use ORBIT something app, forgot the name, and on iphone you use that hot shield free VPN
Thanks for the feedback GoodDayToDie & netham45.

>> you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY
I will add version in About page. Currently if you run the app and in taskmanager search pandora.exe, right-click and go to properties you can see the version. I will add attribution too. Good catch!!
>> I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
Forwarding is currently disabled as Pandora does limit the number of skips after some time. If a users keeps on skipping he/she will eventually hit this limit and there is no UI to message this to the user. This also prevented my app to be certified in the store so i decided to disable it for now till i figure out a better way to deal with this.

Good feedback, I will add in the next release.
Related, it'd be nice if it automatically logged in on launch, not sending you to the login screen. Perhaps a settings option to clear the stored user settings, and make it log in automatically?
Currently it should automatically login based on the credentials stored on the machine. Do you want a way to clear the settings?
I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken
Interesting....Thanks for reporting it. I would need to get hold of a USB sound card to try this out. Was this on the RT device?

The advertisements are mine...Not Pandora's maybe i can reduce the number of advertisements if that is a big eye sore. Thanks again for the feedback.

If you use any VPN software to connect to US based server (I tried openvpn.net although has a data limit) you should be able to use the app to listen to pandora via the app. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

It sends me to the login screen most of the time when I launch it, or if I come back to it if it's been inactive for 5-6 hours.

Yes I'm using RT, though further testing shows that I get the same result no matter what music app I use, so I blame the OS.

Can you send me the PRadioInformation.log file which should be present in %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\28268splashtetra.PRadi o_80qntxqrmk3vj\LocalState folder? This should help me understand why it is not saving the password on RT.

why not put it up in the windows store?
The previous version is actually already up there. We've been helping test the next release, at which point hsalps will presumably release a store update.

The store guys are approving the latest version of the app right now (Takes 7 days ). I will update this thread when it is available on the windows store. The older release is already in the store.
Since Spotify will not build a store app for Windows 8/8.1, I decided to develop my own app to listen to Spotify. It took a few months to understand how to call in to Spotify but after many trials it is working and stable. It has been on the Windows Store for over a week now and I have fixed many glaring glitches to make the experience smooth. Currently it only supports Spotify Premium/Unlimited users as Free accounts have to show spotify advertisements at regular interval and have many restrictions. If you have a Spotify Account and would like to try this on Windows 8 then head over to the Windows Store and download it. Here is the link to the description page and the download link is in the page. It is only available in all the countries where Spotify is available. Feel free to report any glitches on this thread or at the spotlite website.

Unfortunately, my store account is dutch and I can't find/install the app.
Can you fix that, it's much appreciated if you can.

Same here ... Awesome initiative, and or those who do not see it in the store (yet), change your location to United Kingdom and it will appear. Install it and set your location back to your original location.
Wrong location query in marketplace?

Hey there, thanks for this great app!
I really love the look and have been wondering for quite some time, why Spotify won't build a Metro app.
But I have one problem with your app: it requires a US location.
To clarify, I use two Windows 8 PCs and am based in Germany.
On my main PC, I could easily access your app via the market place, while on my tablet it just wouldn't find the app.
After running through all my settings, I found out that my main PC (for whatever reason) was set to US location (settings panel - region - location).
When I checked my tablet, it was set to Germany...
After changing this the app finally appeared on the tablet as well
Could you please correct this?
Thanks.

I think i was very tired fixing all the bugs when i wrote the original post. Spotlite is being launched in various countries in a phased manner, so far it is available in Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, UK, US. I will launch the app in all the markets tonight and it should be available in the store by tomorrow.
Your app is awesome, thanks a lot! I got one problem though: Playback often stops, telling me that my internet connection is too slow. Which certainly isn't the case. I never had that problem with my pc or my mobile phone and I'm always streaming the highest quality possible. Any idea?

hmmm. Is it possible for you to reproduce the problem and send me the Spotlite.log file?
Here are the instructions on how to find this log file.
1. Press windows key + R
2. Type %localappdata%\Packages\49573Spotlite.Spotlite-ListentoSpotify_z5pndgmqb06wp\LocalState and press enter
3. Open Spotlite.log and remove all lines starting containing the string "name":"connect","id":"0". I do not want your auth token
4. PM me the modified spotlite.log file.
Im getting errors all the time now it's barely working. Maybe its because I'm still on preview?

Sephi, there is a new version of Spotlite 1.0.0.36 on the windows store that caches tracks so you should see less of these errors. It would be nice if you could give it a try and let me know how it goes.
I still get random logouts after 2-3 minutes...right now I really can't use the app, too many errors. I'd buy it if it really works. There is also some bug with playlists I guess. I used the search and the things I clicked were automatically added as a playlist although I never intended that...

Thanks for the feedback.
I suspect that your tablet is going to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity, which is done to conserve battery. One way to avoid the problem you are facing is to keep the tablet plugged in to a power outlet and make the following changes:
From the tiled Start Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the Tablet and go to All Apps. From here, you can swipe your way left and choose Control Panel from the last grouping under the Windows System subhead.
Choose the System and Security option when Control Panel opens.
Find the Power Options area and open it.
On the left-hand side of the Power Options area, choose Change when the computer sleeps.
Set your preferred options (I recommend "Never") for the Plugged in value and Save Changes.
Let me know if this fixes your problem.
Also I highly recommend Windows 8.1 RT some of the issues that you are seeing could be related to slow performance in Windows 8 RT

That is strange. What type of account do you have? Free/Unlimited/Premium? Do you have non-English characters in your password?
Regarding your early question, when you click on a playlist that you searched it will get added to your account. Currently there is no way to view the playlist before adding it. To remove the playlist you can use Spotify Desktop.

I am using a Premium Account and I'm connected via Facebook. No non-english-chars in my PW. Is there a way to completly deinstall and reinstall the program? I did it before but I have the feeling that some stats stay so it's not a complete new reinstall. You know what I mean?
Somehow I only see 15 out of my 40+ playlists. I have a spotify premium account.
Is this a limitation of the app, or do I have to buy it to see more?
If not, is there anything I can do to fix this?

In the windows store and after installing the app tells it shouldn't be used with free accounts.
I couldn't find the exact part of the terms and condition that doesn't allow you to use a third party app.
I was wondering if we arre supposed to use the app with free accounts or not?
Hi... Really like to try your app, but can't install it, when I go the link it didn't show in the Store, also tried to search on the store and didn't found the app. I'm from Bolivia if this info helps.
FYI - Runkeeper finally went out of beta last night and posted the full 5.1 version with full support for the Sony SW3 with offline GPS support.
Personally, I think Ghostracer is better, but at least there is a major app supporting the watch.
It's not up in every country. (In Spain we still have 5.0.3 in Google Play)...
Can you please post the apk?

ok guys.. i tried RUNKEEPER STANDALONE uploaded in " preview" by our friend gs05
so basically it works GREAT... but with few things to set..
FIRST i had all values in MILES(so.. gs05 is from USA and probably that's why) but my mobile is set in KM so it probably had to SYNC with settings on my mobile.. anyway once i uploaded info on mobile they went back to KM.. so it was only on smartwatch 3 in miles !
SECOND i went also with my "second mobile"(not sync with smartwatch) and i had runkeeper over there too
smartwatch gave me almost 200 MT more.. and checking the track i could understand why, it started giving a wrong PATH .. that sort of " v " costed in terms on track 200mt indeed editing that track on runkeeper web i could get exactly the same distance as mobile did get !
Now is weird cause before going i started to use GPS in developers options and i had 17 satellite = i had a great gps just before starting to run..
i post here the 2 pictures so u guys can have an idea .. tomorrow i try to go jogging and use MY TRACKS on smarwatch and Runkeeper on second mobile!

Totally agree that at the start, it acts a little funny. It is as if it is trying to use your steps to figure out what the GPS line should have been while it is fully locking into the satellites. I saw this in the beta and reported it, but they did not fix it.

Runkeeper is a boston based firm, so they most likely did miles first and then will go to KM soon. Didn't even think of that!
Looks like there is a known issue with Runkeeper and Android Wear with respect to km/miles on the wear device:
Can't post the link since I don't normally post here, but the following article on the Runkeeper support site has the details (202830596-Wear-Doesn-t-Respect-unit-preferences).
If RunKeeper on Android Wear is showing your units in miles instead of kilometers or vice versa there is any easy fix to get things back on track! All you will need to do is go into the RunKeeper settings from your phone and toggle the units off and then back on to the desired units. This will force a re-sync with your watch!

Here is a newer version from the playstore...same 5.1, but they updated quickly twice, so perhaps it fixes the sync issues?
Updated from 5.03 to 5.1 today, new version available on the french Play Store.
Just tried this new version with the SW3 GPS
Perfectly functionnal, automatically sync to phone's app at the end.
but... :
- After some seconds, SW3 screen goes from colour to B&W but i'm not sure that the screen is in "transflective mode", ie without any backlight. (battery drain ??)
If i close the app by pushing on the SW3 power button, it didn't stay in transflective mode (time instead) and i needed to reopen the app (with wear mini launcher) to see my distance, speed and time since the start.
- The first 250 meters were lost and not counted for that Run.
It seems that the GPS is not ready when we push the Start Button on the SW3 and it needs some seconds to fix satellites.
Runkeeper should add an icon showing that the GPS Fix is ready and that we can start the run.
Sync problem this morning.
All was fine on the SW3, distance, time, calories... etc...
But when the SW3 has synchronized to the phone App, only the last 560 meters of the run were saved.
Time and calories were correctly synchronized.
All stats are false.
Bummer as the beta was better than that. If you aren't stuck to runkeeper, get ghostracer beta instead, which is strava based.
It is much much better and records perfectly.. Has GPS lock, custom fields, ambient mode, no sync issues, etc. I use it now even after runkeeper beta
See the android dev section in this forum.
:good: now registered to Ghostracer.
Will try it on my next run.
Hey guys where are you finding Ghostracer? I only found Ghost Race in the play store and didn't see anything on google.

Go to this same forum, then to original android deveopment...it has a thread there
With 5.1 sync now works! Did 5k yesterday and it worked good, synced automatically when I got home. Is it possible to change activity from walking to running?
Tried it once. Coming from using Endomondo (that has no standalone watch use until now) it's a pain in the ass to use.
With Runkeeper: No GPS fix indicator at the start. Much worse to read while running. No option to configure displays. Pretty small font size. A bright coloured background make it even harder to read while running. I prefer the dark theme in Endomondo on my watch with huge bright easy to read numbers. After the run the watch showed the run properly compared to my handy tracked runs. But after sync with the phone the half track was "corrected" to a straight line so I had to repair the track in the browser later. Also the first 100m are not tracked. I guess this is then the gps fix is not ready. There's still a lot room to improve and to do before it is usable for daily training.
App is already available on Samsung Store.
Thank you for all DONATIONS and support !!!!
Introduction
I've been looking at this topic and I saw that unfortunately the project died... so as I am a java developer and I am very tired with all the unresponsible/crashing apps on Galaxy Store. I decided to try myself at C#/.Net to write my own Google Assistant companion for Galaxy Watch. I hate Bixby as much most of the community.
So here is my approach to the Google Assistant companion app for Tizen Watches.

FAQ
Q: Will this application be available on other watches than Galaxy Watch?
A: Yes, this application should work on any Samsung watch with Tizen 4.0+ and microphone/speaker.
Q: Will this be a paid app?
A: Yes, but the price shouldn't be more than 2USD. I will consider making it 2 variants Free and Premium.
The app will be free.
Q:Will non speaker watches be supported ?
A: Yes, when I develop the text output.
Q:Can this app do xxxx?
A: The app can talk to Google Assistant SDK Service. I'm not answering for any Google Assistant SDK / Service features related questions. This doesn't depend on me, my app is only a bridge to Google Service. Please ask Google what the Assistant Service is capable of, and why not all features are available. Send query to their support, post on their forums etc.

How to get the logs
You have to have Tizen studio installed. Watch has to be in debug mode.
Immediately after crash / bug connect watch via wifi.
Open Tizen SDK Device Manager.
Wait a while until it reads the logs.
Export logs:
Zip them and attach to post reporting bug.
THANKS!
Cool
Sounds like a plan! Cheers
Great idea. I'm pretty sure lots of people want/need this! I'm using a similar type of app for Alexa. It is very, very handy to have.

Doesn't record fixed voice length but recording time is based on voice recognition (recognized text is not changing = stop recording) the same as it works on the original assistant this way it can recognize variable length commands - you can say something short, or veeeeeeryyyy long, as long as you like and it will always know when to stop and send reply.
Also my app is way more responsive - the Alexa app feels very unresponsive to me.

You are right with most of your observations! The thing is, I live in the Alexa world for my lighting system and more & have no other choice. It works for what I need even if not perfect. I use GA on my Note 9 because Bixby is pretty much pathetic.
Maybe after you perfect your GA app for the watch, you can start on an Alexa app. Competition and choices are what makes apps great! I'd be a beta tester for that one and/or even pay $10 - $20 to get your Alexa app. I'm no dev but do understand how many thousands of lines of code can go into apps. Good luck!

Great idea, Google assistant is the only thing that lets the galaxy watch down. Ive been praying for 2 years Samsung would sort Bixby out, its voice recognition is terrible and has so many limitations. Count me in for any testing you need

Happy to be a Beta tester.. I'm a Quality Assurance manager (system tester) for a huge Government organisation.. Happy to help get this project on it's feet mate
This is awesome! Curious where it is going!
Hello. I am Tizen 4.0.0.2 user from Turkey.
I am an English Language Teacher.
I use Samsung Gear Sport.
I can gladly be your beta tester.
I am Android Developer and QA Engineer here in the states. Would love to beta test for you if needed! If not great work man! Looks really promising
Add me to the test. I have a galaxy watch, many google home devices. And a lot of wifi outlets, wifi switches, wifi garage door openers, thermostats, much more.
Guys,
Whoever wants to participate in beta tests, please send me on priv message the following details:
Watch Model:
Tizen Version:
Phone Model:
Android Version:
I will contact with chosen persons.
For first alpha testing I would need the most experienced ppl with android, a little bit technical knowledge would be cool.
What I would need from you is to send me logs from device (I will tell you exacly how), also I would need to make screenshots from Android and pictures of the app whenever crash / debug message appears and detailed description under what circumstances the error/debug msg appeared.
For example:
"I was saying "Hello google, where is the nearest supermarket" and the app crashed, the listen button was greyed out, was on WiFi + screen from android app + picture of the watch face with error message etc. + watch logs.
Please participate only if you can meet this requirements.
Thanks,
Edit: Saw your post. Will you a pm.

Would you be able to change language on the GA? Cause my biggest complain about Bixby is that it doesn't understand my language (danish) while Google assistant does.
Thanks for your work and thanks in advance!
Yes, it already works in other languages - for example I use it in Polish
Excellent work mate! pm sent.
Looks great. I would be up for beta testing this.
cool! does it work only when connected to the phone or it is a standalone app?
Some Input for implementation
best way is to use it without mobile:
Some Input from very intressant application:

Two days full of work and I'm happy to inform that we're on version 0.0.2.
New demo vid: https://youtu.be/qtfn6-p5CQA
(edited video link cause of hotfix, now real time text displays correctly)
New features:
-real time voice recognition text display
-assistant response display
-ability to stop assistant talk with press "Listen" again
Technical changes:
-completely reworked internal logic(once again, I hope last time )
-use of new libraries
-changed buffering methods
-changed multithreading libraries
As for the question: this app will never be standalone on watch.
gRPC is the library used to talk with assistant webservice and this library is not available on Tizen, end of topic.
I won't write my own interface to talk with Google API.
