BT very low volume - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi to all, i have a problem with my new Redmi Note 5 (whyred) 9.5.19.0 (OEIMIFA).
When i use BT audio connection (car audio, speaker, earbuds, headphones, soundbar, whatever) the sound is very low. About 50% less than cable earbuds with 100% bar.
Anyone have the same problem or know how to solve it?
thanks in advance.

Just update your phone to 9.6.3 and this issue has been fixed in 9.6.3 version

Am on 9.6.3.0 and having this problem

Update your phone's to 9.6.4
Xiaomi has introduced support for aptX Bluetooth audio codecs, this means sound will be louder with higher bitrate

Bluetooth no media audio sound AAC, SBC codec -Redmi Note 5 Global 9.5.6.0 & 9.5.13.0

Bluetooth no media audio sound AAC, SBC codec -Redmi Note 5 Global 9.5.6.0 & 9.5.13.0
Redmi Note 5 Global 9.5.6.0 & 9.5.13.0 ROMS:
The media player plays the song, but there is no audio sound when I connect via Bluetooth the Redmi Note 5 phone to my Kenwood KMM-BT304 car headunit (Kenwood 2018 modell year, supoorts AAC and SBC codecs).
The car radio works fine with Redmi Note 5A, Samsung Galaxy S7, etc.
At the developer options AAC is the default codec.
If I manually change it to SBC, then works perfect.
But at the next time, when I connect to the car radio, there will be no media audio sound again... I have to set manually the SBC codec.
Is there any media patch what fixs this problem?
I have the same issue where no sound comes through my bluetooth headset on my RN5P Global 4/64, running AOSP Extended v5.5 Oreo 8.1.0, hope there is a fix for this soon Also haven't tried changing the audio codec, will try now

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge -Android 7.1 - bluetooth media audio works fine
Redmi Note 5A - Android 7.1 (MIUI 9.5.9.0) - bluetooth media audio works fine
Redmi Note 5 Global with Andorid 7.1 based ROM (MIUI 9.2.13.0) - bluetooth media audio works fine
Redmi Note 5 Global with Andorid 8.1 based ROMs (MIUI 9.5.6.0 & 9.5.13.0) - no media audio
Unfortunately in the Nougat based ROMS gives no information about the used codecs, in the developer options.
At the 8.1 based 9.5.13.0 ROM the media audios works temporary (until next BT connection restart) if I "Disable optional codes" (Developoer options / Bluetooth audio codec).

The Bluetooth media audio problem still present in the new 8.6.14. MIUI10 ROM.
added screenshot from MIUI 10 global beta
MIUI 10 global beta exposes all codecs under Developer options.
I am, however, unable to set my streaming codec to AAC when using allegedly AAC-supporting bluetooth headphones: https://www.soundcore.com/products/variant/spirit-x/A3451011
I can change the setting to AAC but it automatically switches to SBC 48 KHz when I start playing music. I'd need to check with other headphones to see if it's Xiaomi or Anker that's bamboozling me.

I found this on a forum about changing the priority use of bluetooth audio codec, and ik comes close to what I am looking for:
Devices running Android 8.0 that support A2DP automatically gain the additional codec support. Device manufacturers may need to obtain separate licenses and binary blobs for some proprietary audio codecs. In addition to SBC, Android 8.0 supports the following codecs:
AAC
aptX
aptX HD
LDAC
Device manufacturers can choose which codecs their devices attempt to use first. Set the codec priorities by changing the following values in the file res/values/config.xml:
<!-- Configuring priorities of A2DP source codecs. Larger value means
higher priority. Value -1 means the codec is disabled.
Value 0 is reserved and should not be used here. Enabled codecs
should have priorities in the interval [1, 999999], and each

Same problem here on a Kenwood dpx 7000DAB.
Other phones zich as Motorola no problem.

I reported the bug on the MI website, you can confirm it if you have the same problem.
http://en.miui.com/thread-3230620-1-1.html
Tom.
I have no problem with various of Bluetooth headset, headphone, earphone and speaker. All play the sound properly and use SBC codec by default. It seems this is bug from Oreo itself. I remember someone ask the similar things in Automagic forum, and I just realize it now. I have flash RR 6.1. But the codec also reseted to default when we exit the developer option, same as in MIUI.
It seems there is no viable solution currently. I would use workaround if I encounter this problem. You will need automation app, which detect bluetooth connected event to certain device. Launch the developer option and use accessibility to scroll and change that codec option back to sbc. I prooftest the concept in Automagic, but you can use tasker + autoinput or other Automation app which support accessibility to do it. But yeah, it is too hassle for most users here, as not everyone use automation app.
Yeah you're right. However in my case I already tried a lot a tricks like change codec and so on. But at the end of the day nothing works better...
I'm very disappointed...

bluetooth audio issues in Pie?

After updating to Pie bluetooth audio turns useless because only for 10~30sec the audio is continous. after that short period harsh interruptions begin to happen until the audio stops. all this sequence in less than 1min.
my headset is JBL DUET Mini and work fine in other devices.. I verified this problem with spotify and YouTube.
I tried to change bluetooth audio setup in developer options but remains the same.
Anyone having the same issue? Any idea?
Thank you!
I've had the same issue in Oreo, and now in Pie. Though it's never gotten to the point where it stops; it just continues, horribly, 'til I stop it myself.
Tested with Vanilla Music, streaming via Bluetooth to an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and an Amazon Basics Bluetooth speaker. (jeez, never realised how much Amazon stuff I have lol)
Bluetooth is horribly broken on pie and its interferes with WiFi.
There is a new update for pie, can you check if it is still broken?
Poor playback to Anker portable bluetooth (4.0) speaker with crackling / stuttering noise interference when initiated from A2 Lite. Works fine from Laptop to Bluetooth speaker (A2 Lite disconnected), but v. poor from A2 Lite to speaker. NB. Same digital media.
Suspect Bluetooth problem with A2 Lite Pie 9.0 (OTA) version. V10.0.2.0.PDLMIFJ
Could be a CODEC issue?
Developer options show :
AVRCP 1.4 (Default)
Bluetooth audio codec streaming:SBC
audio sample rate: 44.1 khz
Audio bits per sample: 16 bits
Audio channel mode: Stereo
Playback quality: Best effort (adaptive bit rate)
updated: experiencing same issue when using Ausdom M04 Bluetooth headpones with A2 Lite

AAC codec was removed in PIe, leaving only the low quality/high latency SBC codec. Hopefully the next update includes AAC as it is absolute bare minimum for a 2018 phone of this caliber.

All codes were removed except that low quality low bandwidth sbc codec, it is reall low bandwidth broadcasting so you with have a lot of lag with Bluetooth, the aptx magisk module works but, you have to use Bluetooth headset for music, no loudspeaker or headphone jack will output music streams. I'm sure PIE is just a stable beta so hopefully the final version should qualcoms codec.

I hoped that the january update would fix this bug.
I think, I will remain on Oreo till they fix it
Noticed a number of Bluetooth bugs logged with Google regarding Pie.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues?q=bluetooth
Someone raised the A2 Lite issue, but it was rejected, saying it was up to xiaomi to sort.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/122369751
Just wondering if it could be a hardware issue, e.g. wifi and bluetooth using same frequency on same ariel and interrupting each other?
They (google) do seem to have assigned the SBC codec issue for investigation so that is positive.
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/123179438
Had the same problem and went back to oreo.
Now everything works fine.

I have noticed in some situations that audio stay OK. For example, while at work, in my desktop using BT audio w/my headset, everything is ok. But if someone pass nearby my place, audio start working bad until the person went far enough. I think other devices BT affects audio, or antother type of EM signals, like WiFi, maybe...
I wish i could turn off "always visible" option in my device to test it. But that option is missed in PIE

Question Problem with low volume on headphones

Hello. I'm on Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM MIUI 14. I have a problem with low volume on bluetooth headphones and on the bluetooth radio in the car. I haven't tried a usb-c to jack adapter because I don't have one. The volume compared to Realme GT is diametrically low. I tried with Dolby Atmos off and on Poco F4 and Realme GT and the result is the same - the volume on Poco F4 is much lower. I don't know if it's a MIUI overlay problem. Region set to Poland because that's where I'm from. I've tried switching to US and India, but it doesn't work. I know it used to help. Is there any solution to this problem? Maybe some Magisk module, or changing the parameters manually in the file? Well, unless the authors of Miui.eu decide to increase the volume, it would be great.
