Flash 16.7.zip in twrp over old Magisk.

Hey,
I unlocked and rooted my Pixel XL today using the guide below. I installed TWRP properly by fastbooting to TWRP first, and then flashing the .zip. I then rebooted back into recovery and tried to flash Magisk 10.2 and i get this error.
Failed: /system could not be mounted!
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/Magisk-v10.z.zip'
Does anyone know why this would happen? I was able to flash the SU zip without any issues at all. I want to use Magisk so i can hide certain apps from root. Did i do something wrong or is this not supported?

I guess that's a good reason Thanks!
There's any way to make magisk modules work on stock rom? If I install in recovery, they don't show in the app and don't work at all. If I try to install in the app itself, I only get errors.
Lol you gotta give more information.... What error messages are you getting?

The only messages I get when trying to install modules at the Magisk Manager is simply an "Installation error". But this is not the real problem. The problem is that when the installation is successful, both on the app or on the recovery, nothing happens. The Modules section will aways say "No modules found", and the modules simply don't work.
At the logs, after trying to install some modules, I had those lines with errors:
E( 483: 817) mount /dev/block/loop0->/magisk failed with 13: Permission denied
E( 26603:26603) mount /dev/block/loop1->/dev/magisk_merge failed with 13: Permission denied
I've read somewhere about a magisk error at this device, something with the loopback device, but it was allegedly fix on 7.1.1, that I'm using.

You need to flash the boot.img and then the custom F2FS kernel for the modules to work along with the safety net pass.

So the only thing we can do is wait for an f2fs fixed 7.1.1 kernel? (since this method only makes the safetynet fix module work)

yes for 7.1.1 you would have to wait for a fixed kernel. Nougat 7.0 already has it. I'd advise you to just use flashallthetime's stock 7.0 nougat deodexed rom.

The guide that makes safety net works can do some modules work flashing by recovery, i don 't know which modules gonna work, some work, some not, you need to test, but make a backup because some give me a bootloop
Most of the modules worked for me.

I have root on latest 7.1.1 but unable to install any modules
Hey,
I've created a small magisk module, with that you can use the Argument Reality function inside the Google Camera.
It works on AOSP 8.0 Beta and Stable, maybe it also works on nougat.
When you want to test it on other devices than the Mi A1, please don't forget to make a backup even if bootloop and such things are very unlikely.
Wehen you have a device where it also works you are allowed to create a thread, only condition link me and very important Arnova8G2 because without his work it would not be possible.
Installation instructions:
The modules can easily flashed inside the Magisk Manager or with TWRP.
To get it fully working you have to flash both modules

Which magisk version??
Anyone on the above rom having trouble with update?? I use the rom updater on the phone and it showed a new update for 8-12-18 I've downloaded the file twice with the same outcome, pops up an error that just says install error?? Any of the updates before that installed fine..

Download and install with twrp. If that build has treble and the one you're using doesn't, you need to flash with twrp for it to change OEM to vendor which the installer cannot do in boot time. It can be dirty flashed if the keys are the same. (I.E. test key to test key. If its from the same source, it is the same)

crazy question, how do i install magisk now? I've tried it with the older twrp i was using and I've tried it with the newer version twrp you suggested and i get boot loop now. I tried with the lineage recovery and it fails?
Hey everyone, i got a new j6+ (sm-j610f) running 8.1 oreo. I rooted it via magisk patched boot.img method , also removed all the bloatware. I want ro install xposed framework but this device doesn't have a compatible twrp/cwm recovery yet, i tried using flashfire but it's not working. I'm not sure if the app isn't compatible with oreo or magisk, i granted it superuser permission but it's stuck on acquiring root access. Is there a fix for this problem, if not is there an alternative for flashfire?!

Magisk already has Xposed support. No need to install the framework separately.
Just type Xposed in the download section and install the SDK 27 version.

Look, here's how i got this phone rooted, downloaded magisk manager, patched the boot.img and flashed through odin, restored phone to factory settings bcz i was stuck with integrity verification failed and there was no way to flash dm verify disabler since there is no custom recoveries for j6+ yet. After that phone booted and magisk was installed. Haven't touched any settings nor hidden any things, and there's this message i keep getting whenever i open magisk. Each time i open magisk it popups, even if i press yes it will appear the next time open magisk.
This is the log i get after installing the additional setup
