If so, can you do the Sim card hotspot HACK? I figured out my own answer.

What's the answer then?

Is there any possible way to enable free WiFi Tethering on the Official I747UCUFNE4 (4.4.2) OTA build? I've searched everywhere and have not come up with any possible solutions.

I'm on AT&T family data plan. That might be the only way to get free wifi tether. Technically not free, since it just uses data from your available data plan, but I know what you mean.
Maybe someone else will chime in.
I'm using a former AT&T Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile now, and I couldn't start tethering at all, even though it's fully allowed by my plan. I ended up solving the problem with xtether, an xposed module. It bypassed the attempt to contact ATT before starting tether, it might work for those still on ATT as well.
Good luck,
Dan
Hey everyone, @xdabbeb was kind enough to modify the original 13B hotspot provision for our phone. I know people have been having issues with data packet drops and other hotspot problems with the modified LG G3 hotspot provision that we've been using from the other hotspot thread, and this might fix these issues. Replace apk in the system/app/HotspotProvision folder, set permissions, and reboot.

No, you need root for this.

OK, Thank you... This is the only feature I wish my LG4 had as I still have unlimited data grandfathered in.. Looks like its time to do the KDZ method finally.
I didn't realize this existed, much better to use the native app and modded for unlimited access. I've had to reinstall this app because I went to 13b. On a separate note, I got a warning message that requires a Verizon LTE SIM to use the hotspot, but it allowed me to use on AT&T 4G (HSPA+) on grandfathered unlimited data plan. Thanks for the thread.
now usb tethering is working too. thanks
I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to report this file worked for me with the 2BA firmware. I just switched over to Red Pocket and I was having issues with the regular hotspot application functioning (Verizon restrictions), but this let me use the hotspot once more. I'll be switching over to the GSMA version next month, hopefully it will continue to function. Thanks!
Anyone with cricket and the oreo update installed:
Does the hotspot still work to get you free tethering?

Even if it doesn't there's always a way to get tethering to work. There's a app called wifi tether on play store will work might need root though
yea... but I really want to avoid root....
should work
Any phone that isn't carrier locked should work. Cricket auto setup the internet apn and a tethering apn when I first put the sim card in my 7x. If it does this just delete the tethering apn and you should be good to go. Unlocked phones don't have the carrier firmware that notifies them if the hotspot is on or give them the ability to control hotspot access.
Nice thread. I'm also a cricket customer and once I get the update I'll give it a test and report it back here ?
It's dead
I updated today with the SE NA keyone. I can confirm the update will kill your free hotspot tethering. I've even tried creating other APNs with no luck. I tried using pda+ as well and that did not work.
I searched 'hotspot' in each subforum of s20+ without results.
I am wondering if there is a mod to make the hotspot unlimited.
Thanx.
Has anyone discovered a workaround for the message "to use mobile hotspot you will need to subscribe to a hotspot service"? I have unlimited data on this line and I would like to use it. Thanks a ton!

That will depend on your carrier. Have you tried the USB route?
Carrier is Verizon. Was hoping not to use USB. Any idea if root / unlocked android will fix the issue?
Try pda net. Some carriers in their infinite power to be an ass block it on the play store. But pda net devs don't give a **** and put it on their website.

do you have the play more/do more plan? The basic plan does not include hotspot. I am also on verizon and my hotspot works fine.

What about with T-Mobile? Ever since switching from Sprint SIM to T-Mobile SIM, adding ",dun" to APN doesn't work anymore. Currently using S8+ on Android 9, if that matters

I don't know about T-mobile. I'm on Verizon. I get 25GB of hotspot data with my plan.

Rooting won't help and it's probably not worth the effort. I've used PDANet back when I had my original Verizon unlimited plan. I could connect via USB.
I used to flash the U1 firmware to bypass this when I had a plan that didn't support mobile Hotspot. Before that I used PDAnet for usb tethering or even a different APN setting to prevent blocking.
