How is the phone performance after Oreo update, some are saying that the performance and camera quality has gone down a bit others are saying it's same no issues at all.
Please let me know if it is worth upgrading my sweet phone or not.
For me, the performance, battery backup and the camera quality has gone down too.
Phone lags a lot while playing games and you can see minor frame lags while normal uses too.
Battery draining is more and charging speed is slow again(took me 3.5 hours to charge).
My phone is just 1 month old.

hi,
wondering if i am the only 1 experiencing battery drain and the phone getting hot when data is ON.
I am using Miui 1.9.2, overall very good rom except for this problem which because i am always outdoors... my data is always kept on... however battery can be gone in less than half a day even when i juz left it idling....
If you coming a rom like cm7 you will notice less battery life because miui has a pretty 'bloated' UI and maybe other factors concerning how the rom works. The maximum battery life i can expect even with light usage is around a day and half a day for moderate usage
actually on miui i can get >30hours with normal usage and wifi on... the battery drain is only when i turn data on! if not for this annoying problem, miui is the most awesome rom!!!
exactly the same for me !
miui is a great rom more than likely the best rom for the captivate, but my contract is almost up, so i will be moving on to the galaxy s2 or one of the HTC phones ATT has to offer, more than likely won't be moding it because most of the reasons I modded my captivate now are in the new galaxy s2. No need to mod to get netflix because it's in the regular market along with crackle free movie download....speaking of which, I give netflix about 2 more years if they can't come up with a way to offer first run movies like On Demand Pay Per View same day as on DVD.
Wat got improved-
It has given more options in power saver mode
The apps are now more stable
Heating has decreased while charging and using for games (hitman sniper,NOVA 3)(i use performance mode)
the camera has improved since 2.15.xx.xx
Wat has not-
Charging and battery performance is always fluctuating
the phone lags while charging (most of the times)
The phone dialer and facebook clash often when u try to close one the other pops up
It needs android 5.1 like seriously and needs to get rid of these bugs....Asus are u listening
The phone was never perfect and I think no phone is right now...
this phone needs to be improved and more help from beta testers
the phone is way better than Samsung , i have used a year old S5 and it lags even more than this semi flagship , note edge is **** if compared to this ... note 3 is the only good phone from Samsung after note 4.....only nexus , htc ,xiaomi and one plus is better than asus but asus rocks in terms of price to performane ratio
Don't update if u don't want slower charging now it takes 20- 30 mins more than usual, I will say root after getting the perfect update meeting all ur needs and enjoy it until a better update comes up :laugh:
I guess they preventing the heating during charging by slowing it down.
Since I'm rooted with xposed, im not going to bother updating until we get a significant update, like 5.1 or a battery performance upgrade.
I saw from Linustechtips that if you want to avoid heat thus helping the lifespam of the battery its better to use a slow charger over the night since your not gonna be using the phone. And in the day when you are in a hurry use the asus charger for fast charge.
Remeber dont use the phone while charging it will make more heat, and heat is what actually kills the battery. Also i told this to a other guy in other forum but I think the quick charger software from the phone slowdown the processor and closes aplications to speed up the charge somaybe that is the reason you are getting poor performance while charging
But better not to use the phone while chargin just wait 20-30 mins your battery will surely appreciate it
Hope it help
Hi, i plan to buy the m9 but the overheating and poor battery life problems that i heard kind of keeps me away from it. What's your avg battery life and it's still overheating 8 month after release?
The phone doesn't overheat but it DOES get hot.
Battery life is dependent on how you use it but as a normal phone it lasts a day or two. As a gaming device expect a couple of hours.
It's still one of the best phones out.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

I've never had mine get that hot honestly. I did get it more recently so it isn't one of the first batches. It stays cooler than my m8 did honestly. Battery life is definitely worse, though manageable. I can easily get a day out of it, just I can't go as crazy as I could with screen on time on my m8.

not quite. My battery life is very acceptably lasting between 12 - 14 hours normal use (4.5hrs screen on time).
And I have no overheating issues, the phone has never crashed or rebooted due to heat. the only time the heat is even really noticeable is when I just flashed a rom and android is optimizing apps on first boot. For this I just put the phone on a cold pack the duration of the install (it's not like your holding it the whole time)
I have the dot view case on and very rarely notice heat. Battery is perfectly fine, better than my M7 which I had came from. All this is based on being on latest update and firmware. It has vastly improved since launch.
Depends how you define "overheat." It doesn't get so hot that it malfunctions or risks injury. It can get quite hot to the touch, especially if you're charging and doing CPU intensive stuff at the same time. I have had it get hot enough to stop charging quite a few times when I was using and charging at the same time.
Battery life is comparable to other top-end smartphones. 90% of the time I have little trouble getting through the day.
Some people complain about these issues, but it's hard to tell if they're truly experiencing exceptional problems or just suffer from Perfect Phone Syndrome.
When not rooted with custom rom ie out of the box original, its loaded with so much crap from htc after a few weeks of normal use it overheats and the battery life is poor. My guess is that with Cyanogenmod it would fly.
For me it's already available in Poland (EUX firmware) along with february security update, it's about 2GB in size.
People on Reddit are reporting that it's much smoother and also RAM management has been improved alot.
BREAKING: One UI 5.1 update rolling out to Galaxy S22 series
Samsung debuted One UI 5.1 with the Galaxy S23 series that was unveiled earlier this month. While only a few ...

For me, the update is terrible so far. Battery life is almost non existant, had 22-23 hrs of expected runtime on full battery, now it's more like 18 hrs. It's unacceptable and the worst thing is that the update can't be reverted...
Notice that S22 Snapdragon is heating more than before with 5.1.
Everything smoother on my S22 right now, enjoying more the animations. Screenshot folder selection has been one of the greatest additions to solve a realy old problem with OneUI. Battery life is almost the same as before.
The only thing that annoyed me is the volume slider not having customized colors, but the new options are welcome.
My S22+ is heating up crazy after the update. Due to this, my battery is draining fast. Cannot charge the phone due to s/w cutting off charging due to overheating. The phone is even heating on idle. Update with caution.

After a few days and restarts, the SOT is back to normal.
Anyone experiencing battery drain despite not using the phone intensively? I have mine for two weeks now and the battery life is kind of bad.
I disabled many apps using Universal Android Debloater and it improved, but it's still kinda bad compared to my previous Realme phone(which also had 5000mah battery).
The phone gets warm when I'm using it, so I think it might be the rom that's not well optimised or maybe it is still bloated?
Me too Today.
1 Reboot,
2 Close all apps
3 Uninstall new app.
I hope to solve the problem!
Edit: [Problem solved]
It drops a bit overnight, that is true. But after a working day with 20-30 phonecalls and about an hour of Youtube I still have 60% battery in the evening which is in the top range of any smartphone I owned.
Battery drain can be from just about anything. Any background app including 3rd party ones that go wrong can create major battery drain.
Some people replace devices to try to solve it.
There's a whole bunch of things you can try though and look into. Nothing here may be easy.
My last Samsung would battery drain unless I rebooted 1-3 times every few days. My A53 has zero battery drain problems. Its likely the A54 should be fine too.
It is.
