Hi all,
I've just got a Galaxy Note 8, mainly to use for making notes in meetings and interviews by hand and having them converted into text ( to avoid having to type my notes up). However I will be writing notes very quickly, and I imagine that the device will make mistakes in the conversion process that I won't be able to correct on the spot, and that might be confusing later. I was therefore wondering if there is any way to use handwriting conversion while also preserving the original hand-written text, so that in case of any confusion I can go back to check my own handwritten notes?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello, I often hear that EveryNote is the best note taking app. What is the difference between it and S Note, Lecture Note?
S Note can only sync between Samsung devices, and the old&new versions aren't compatible with one another. Evernote files can be accessed on any device that supports Evernote. Never used Lecture Note, so can't speak for that.
There's a free trial of lecturenotes. It's best to try it and see for yourself since we all have different needs when it comes to software. Then you can compare the three yourself.
Since I find the cross platform treatment of hand written notes lacking in evernote I use lecturenotes and sync exported pdf files via dropsync to dropbox. Evernote is okay in my opinion but not as feature rich when it comes to taking hand written notes.
When it's all said and done, none of the three are perfect and I personally find that I wish for a feature or two from the others.

The newer versions of s note can indeed sync with evernote. This is how I got one year of premium evernote services.

Initially when I purchased the Note Pro the notes that I'd take in S-Note and sync with Evernote were practically useless to me on my Mac/PC. Has this changed? They'd be saved in a proprietary format or an image file that was too small physically to be useful to read on my high res screens. PDF export was an option but with the limited page size support in S-Note I found myself looking elsewhere in a hurry for a note taking tool that truly mimics a letter sized note pad.
I bought a program a while back that I can comment on. It's called Handrite note Notepad Pro. By NC Corp. Needed it before I owned a device with SNote built in. I used to use my finger..... But now with my pen, I like it even more. But I already bought it so I didn't have to decide if I wanted it over the other OP ideas and other suggestions from muzzy996. It syncs using Dropbox through an additional program that is called Open Sync and that is free. Works well. But the handwriting Pro is cool and features some neat options. Might not be everyone's cup of tea with how it replaces text as you write but most things are adjustable.
Microsoft’s Onenote beta is very good. Handwriting is good, syncs with PC, you can search handwritten notes on computer (but not on tablet).

I wasn't aware of the size issue. I had some old notes that transferred over and indeed they are not full size. I don't know if that's just for the screen, maybe they would print out on normal size paper? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. ...
No problem. Yeah S-Note simply doesn't work for me in terms of page setup options. It's fine for simple note taking but sometimes I prefer being able to generate a set of notes with a specific page setup in mind such as a letter sized page in a particular orientation with a particular layout of lines/grids as a background.

How is Google Keep compared with Everynote, S Note and Lecture Note?
Rather simplistic compared to the others. I haven't revisited it in months but as far as I know there's no active stylus support in Google keep.

For me Everynote and Google keep are like a collection of sticky notes. Ln and Snote are more like a collection of notebooks with more pages and options to manage large notebooks. Those apps are for completely different use cases with Ln being focused on students and many notebooks.

Indeed.
Lecturenotes has quite a bit of features though it doesn't always do a good job of providing them in a user friendly way. As an example, pen colors and line thicknesses can be shown in a toolbox on screen but for everything else one must drill down through menus. It would be nice if toolboxes were available for other functions as well in that software.
Its definitely more powerful than the others though even if there are limitations in some respects. An example of the power of lecturenotes is the ability to work on multiple layers (i think the limit is 3) which can be helpful when one is working with graphical elements vs writing/text. An example of limitations in Lecturenote is whereas in SNote when an image is pasted into a note it always remains as an editable image (you can click on it to move it and resize it), in lecturenotes that isn't necessarily the case. In lecturenotes if you want to change the size or location of a pasted image on your page you must select the image using the marquee tool and then expanding the image at that point comes with loss in clarity as it is scaled up. Overall the power of lecturenotes is great though.

What is the page size issue in S-Note?
If you import s-note files into evernote they are physically smaller.. in other words you can't use the s-pen to edit in evernote because the size of the note is too small and does not take up the entire screen like in s-note.
It goes beyond that for me. If all one ever wants is to work within the confines of the Samsung Galaxy Note ecosystem everything is good when it comes to S-note. However, if the need is to take notes on predefined page sizes for printing there is no way to do so. All one has in terms of page types is landscape or portrait orientation with a variety of backgrounds and form types, there is no way to control paper size. These do not print well at US Letter or other page types. I bought this larger note because it's screen is closer in size to a real letter page and yet the applications baked in don't support that.
The is why I use lecturenotes. I have complete freedom to do custom sizes for printing.

Do you mean electronically speaking, the notes are fine. However, they do not print well on papers? How about saving/printing them in pdf format and then send the file to the printer? I use A4 size notes as notes for my work. I am considering to write notes electronically on the Note PRO 12.2. Of course, I do hope to be able to print it out like a A4 size note. Is this possible? If not, from your post, it seems that lecturenotes can do it.

On a standard yellow notepad in US Letter size there are 28 lines available to write on. In S-Note if one creates a notebook using the standard lined page in portrait orientation there are only 18 lines available. To fix this one has to avoid using lines completely by using a blank portrait template. Then what you do is go into the notebook, click the gear icon and change the background, click the upper left box for blank white page, then hit pattern, then pick the second from the right box on the top row.
Once this is all done you have a page that approximates a standard yellow pad.
EXCEPT if you print this thing, it doesn't fill the entire width of an A4 or Letter sheet. When printed to fit on letter, you lose 1.7 inches of width of the page. When printed to fit on A4 you lose 1 inch of width. Doesn't sound like much but on average you're losing 20% of available space on a page.
Its all a bit convoluted and honestly I rather not deal with the BS of it all and I opt to go to LectureNotes instead. With it, I'm able to set up all aspects of a notebook at the time of its creation. Additionally I can place items on different layers to move things around if I wish. The only thing I missin Lecturenotes is how S-Note handles images that are pasted in. In S-Note these pasted images remain as editable objects allowing you to move them and scale them about as you please. In LectureNotes you need to be careful of where you place images because they no longer are treated like smart objects.
Thanks. By losing certain inches of width of the page during printing, do you mean those parts are being cut off? Isn't is possible to scale down the entire page to make printing of everything possible?
If I just draw images, than there should not be a problem in LectureNotes? So, there is no perfect app. I don't want to choose an app, make a lot of things using it. Then, later find that there are some limitations and switch to another app while losing the stuffs I create using the first chosen app.
There DEFINITELY is no perfect app.
See the attachment below. Notice the white vertical strip. That white strip you'll never be able to write in . . . the darkened corners of the notepad image is the absolute corners on the tablet itself when you zoom/pan around in the notepad.
Edit: To clarify, the image attached is what a printed page would look like on US Letter when a page layout of portrait is selected in S-note and the user fills the entire page with notes (simulated by me drawing at the extreme corners). The print is maximized to the long side of the page.
Hi All I got my note pro 12.2 and mainly will used it for studying and note taking and lectures and word , excel so on
so please every one tell me his best apk for studying and note taking , knowing that i used spen its good but my main problem the page size is too small, I canot make it llarger using the multi window mode
so any help with making the page bigger or a btter apk for that?
also , I want to know how to conncet my note pro to projector for ppt presentations?
I also use my Note when I'm in meetings and I do one of two things. If the meeting is short then I just use the S Pen to jot notes down then type them up later. I use Papyrus as my jotting program. Simple and easy to use. I don't use S Note as it's a little too simple and not nearly enough options.
For long meetings I have a bluetooth keyboard. I will be reviewing that later. I use Google Docs as it's easy to use and saves everything to the cloud as well as on my tablet. I also use Sheet for my Excel sheets. There is genuine Microsoft Word and Excel for the tablet however if you don't have a subscription to Office 365 then you can't save anything.
There are plenty of other apps out there that might be ideal for you however I think for me I've found the right balance.
I'd love to have a Docs program that can integrate S Pen scribbles and is very fully functional.
I recently found Microsoft's One Note.
It has a decent amount of functionality as well as pen support. But what I REALLY like is the way it organizes eveything.
You can have multiple "notebooks" like SNote, but then you can have multiple 'chapters' inside each one.
I'll second the suggestion for One Note. Microsoft has done a killer job with the app's UI/UX and having the ability to automatically sync with my Microsoft account (which, in turn, lets it sync on my PC) is fantastic.

There are 3 methods:
1. MHL/HDMI-Adaptor (Samsung has 3, MHL1, MHL2 and a MHL3 Adapter). With a Full-HD Monitor I use the MHL2 Version, because I don't have a 4k projector/Monitor.
2. Miracast. But Miracast can only do one thing: copy the Screen.
3. My prefered method for projectors: Chromecast.
thanks all for reply and really sorry didnt reply fast
I will give both lectures notes and micrososft one a try, although i tried them before and didnt like them may I didnt keep on using them
secondly do you guys know a refernce manager for android? and a good office I liked Hword and Hcell a lot but It have little problems with android
Btw. with "Microsoft PowerPoint Preview" you can use your S-Pen during the Presentation!!! Very cool, this makes your NotePro to a real Whiteboard.

Yes, thats the Problem with Microsofts apps. I have installed PowerPoint Preview, Excel Preview and Word Preview, but I use it in "Readonly" mode to view mail attachments or show Presentations with S-Pen Support.
I use my Note for planning projects, setting agendas, taking meeting minutes and setting TO-DO. lists.
For this I use Evernote. Most things are done with the keyboard, note taking is with the Spen or voice recognition.
I know Evernote isn't for everyone, but you get a years premium subscription with the Note pro so give it a go.
Keeps everything orderly in its place.
i love squid(papyrus) for note taking. it seems like u can draw and jot on a very large paper!
+1 One Note : PC Synchronisation & management
I love PDF Max 4 for highlighting text.
I read a lot of medical literature, and PDF Max 4 in in combination with a bigger stylus (Wacom Bamboo or so) has just the right workflow for highlighting text very precisely and very easily . Ideal tool for exam preparations, much better than any other app I tried so far.
I think my most used productivity app is Inkredible. It allows me to draw in vector and export it as a vector PDF, so I can import it directly into Illustrator. May not be as useful for everyone else, but I'm a designer, so it saves me time.
Note taking I do in Papyrus, and texts I write in Droidedit. Droidedit lacks formatting, which means less hassle when importing into Indesign.
Now all I need is a proper Adobe package for Android and I'm all set...
(I'm obviously using a Wacom Bamboo for Note stylus, and I still hate the fact that my Intuos stylus doesn't work on this.)
No one tried Fiinote?
Shock horror.
Features:
.draw
.voice notes
.keyboard
.handwrite
.infinite page size
.widgets
Your welcome.

I second the Chromecast option. I think the Chromecast is the best $35 I've ever spent. Another thing I like about it is having 2 daughters, who are usually glued to their phones, Chromecast has a lot of games you can play with multiple people and everyone uses their own device, like being able to see your letters is Scrabble while the board is on the projector. It's just a fun way to spend time with my girls instead of them staying in their rooms being antisocial.
INKredible - Handwriting Note is great, i used to install a similar app on my Ipad (i don't know if it is this app or not but same features)
Very convenient to take note what came across my mind, but i think it would be disaster if handwriting is bad and ugly
apk if you need: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/com.viettran.inkredible.apk
on my note 4, I could use my s-pen to write on the calendar and save so that i could see my scribbles on the calendar at any time. I do not see this in the verizon note 7 verizon. Anyone know how to restore this useful function?
thanks
Yes, I also want to know this. I had the note 3, I use this daily and it actually makes me want to give this phone back. Not very useful if one can't make quick notes. It's how I make my work schedule and remind myself not to over book. It's my way of life.
I didn't own the note 4 so not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but when you click on the day with the spen, a notes screen does pop up. It changes your writing to text though, which can be frustrating if you have chicken scratch like I do.

The older versions calender had a mini calender at the top right corner. Once selected it with the s pen you could write on the calender itself, you just had to save it. Then it was in the calender for a quick view.
I saw where one can add a note inside a specific day, but I personally do not want to add a note inside a day that I may not remember to check.
I used it to help manage the days I would allow myself to pick up extra shifts, schedule days off, count down to vacations, notes to add in shifts w/special needs-call call back pay or write my pto hours when needed. It was very handy. It truly was an extension to my mobile calender vs one you had to carry around in a bag. Saved me that extra $10-15 a year because it was always at my finger tips. I uses that quick view to reply back to coworkers on days I could help cover shifts. Now the quick view has been removed completely.
anyone know if it is possible to install the note 4 S Planner apk's (which apparently carries this function I want) without borking the note 7?
Each year, software gets stripped more and more, making the galaxy S and galaxy Note series virtually the same aside from the spen. It's lame. The Note hasnt felt epic since the Note 3/4.

guys did you found any solution to install old s planner or some similar app that support handwriting on calendar ?
Hey guys,
So I'm enjoying my note 10+ so far, but I'm having an issue when trying to send live messages. The messages come out very compressed and after doing some research, it was advised to send them as mp4s instead of gifs. So I tried that, but it was even worse.
So I said forget it and that I would just send gifs like I did on my lg v30. But the same issue persists, even with tiny gifs. The gifs are severely compressed and washed out. I tried using the stock messenger, signal and textra, but they all seem to be exhibiting the same issue. Whereas on my v30, textra never gave me any issues and I could send very large gifs even with no problem.
My phone is an n975u1 us model that I purchased and imported into Canada, running xaa firmware and not xac. My apn settings are all fine, I can send and receive calls, etc. Does anyone know what's going on or have the same issue?

There are limits to how big of a file you can send via MMS (or via RCS)... If the messaging application is compressing the image then the size of the file you tried to send exceeds the limit. With larger sized images/files the compression will probably be more aggressive (and more noticeable).
On my phone looks like the limit is 105mb file size for RCS messaging
I know that there are file limits. But I've never had an issue with this using the lg v30.

I can't tell you why brand X works and brand Y doesn't. Also in the same token it's not really conducive to finding out why your having (solving and/or identifying the cause of) image quality issues on a Note 10+ using a Note 10+ to send a mms image.
Try this to see if the file size limit is being enforced:
Reduce your image size to less then 105 megabytes and try again. Save the file and compare file size (refer to note 1 below)
Create an image file a little larger then 105 megabytes.. If the image appears normally then save it and compare file sizes (refer to note 2 below)
Create an image file like what you had before and send it. Save the file and view the file size (refer to note 3)
~Notes~
Compare the file size of what you received (with that of what you had sent) to see if it is the same size.
You are trying to see if anything a little over 105mb gets reduced in both quality and file size. Compare what you sent with what you received. If the file size of what you received is smaller then what you sent, then file size limits are being enforced
Again like above you are trying to see if the file size is reduced to 105mb or less. If the file size of what you received is smaller then what you sent file size limits are being enforced.
If file size limits are being enforced I am not aware of any method or way to remove or disable said limit set by the carrier. If you have a larger image you wish to send then you may want to consider alternative file transfer methods (Facebook messenger, email, etc)

I sent a static jpeg and it went from 881Kb to 351Kb on the Note. On the V30 it was still 881Kb.
I really don't think this has anything to do with my network because the v30 on the same network does not do this. With *any* text program.

What your LG can or can not do is not conducive nor helpful for what the Note 10+ is or isn't doing (and why). For example here's why it doesn't help...
What if a toggle exists on the LG phone that doesn't exist on the Note 10+? - You can't root the Note 10+ variant you have so you can't make a toggle appear without either the carrier enabling it (or an app that has it added).
What if the LG phone was provisioned differently then the Note 10+? - You can't make changes to the Note 10+ variant your using within regards to carrier provisioning...
What if an LG app allows larger files? - That's not gonna be of any help with a Samsung Note 10+
I did some research today on the subject and what I found across different providers support forums as well as Samsung support forums is that the issue is related to MMS limitations on image size. Yes some people mentioned that there "LG phone could do it" but it isn't exactly as simple as that. In some cases (whether phone, stock applications or within 3rd party apps) a setting exists which allows one to choose the quality of the image being sent. In your stock apps or 3rd party apps your gonna want to see if you can find this setting. If you can't find the setting then this means it isn't something you can change, and if this is the case then nothing can be done.
In my Note 10+ case I don't see this on Google Messages app nor my stock messaging app, so when I send a MMS of 240kb in size (or a test image that was over 2mb in size) it gets compressed. Again this isn't a phone issue, it is something that is set and controlled by my carrier... Which in your case I imagine your being effected by the same limitations.
Thank you for looking deeper into it. I read the same thing on the Samsung boards and across reddit as well during my research. It's just very frustrating because I really enjoy mms and sharing content with my friends. I was going to sell the v30 and keep the note, but now I'm not sure what to do. Even the edge lighting for the phone is broken and there's no real solution for that either based on my research. Yes they're different phones, but using the range app didn't even resolve the issue, on the same carrier. So what's the difference if not the phones? It just seems like Samsung likes saying this and that, but the features are half baked. I'd even trade gifs for live messages, but that's even more broken. Thanks again though for trying to help. You're a pretty cool person.
Hey, Crush. Just curious - what app were you using on the LG? If the same one on Samsung, was it the same version? If not, you could try exporting the APK from the LG and installing it on the Samsung.
