Today, since evening I am getting speaker problems. Whenever I am calling someone, I can clearly hear his/her voice but the person on the opposite side is unable to hear my voice. I live in Kolkata. There is heavy downpour going on in Kolkata since the last few days. I have to go out a lot. I don't know whether a few drops of rain have entered into the device or not, through the speaker. I switched off the device for a couple of hours and tried to clean the mouth of the speaker with the tip of a paint brush, but all my efforts went in vein. If someone tell me how to solve this problem I will be very glad.

A few weeks ago, I noticed a metallic sound while making a phone call, that not only made it difficult to hear what the person on the other end said, but it was also pretty painful to listen when they talked. Earlier the same day, I had received a phone call with no issues. Nothing special had happened to the phone during the day that I know of that should have led to this.
Over the following few weeks, call quality have varied a lot. In the beginning, this problem never occured when I was on the receiving end of the call - only when I was the one who made the call. My calls consistently had this problem, however. Then after a few days, I would start to get the metallic sound when I received calls as well, but not right away. Now I get it pretty much all the time, no matter who made the call, and I'm having to resort to earphones to be able to have a proper phone call.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
have you flashed a new sense 3.0 rom and not flashed the corresponding radio
bc if you didn't flash the radio designed for that rom base you would get metallic or tinny sounds and they dont seem as magnified when using a bluetooth headset or ear buds
If you have rooted your phone and installed a new ROM, try flasing a radio and RIL suggested..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
But if it is stock...better take it to the service center
It's the stock ROM, haven't even rooted it yet (figured it would be a bad idea to do it before I got the problem fixed). Problem is that I won the phone, and I have no idea where it was bought, so I'd probably end up having to pay for getting it fixed, which I'd rather not But if no one has any idea what could be wrong (when it's stock), I guess I don't have much of a choice..
Hi,
After few minutes call other person doesnt hear me very well (sounds like im talking under the water etc) its only for few seconds. What can make that problem?
This happens to me sometimes, but I found that they're eventually my own mistakes.
Is the signal weak? or you might have to talk closer to your mic.
From my experience (2 years) with the phone i must say the reception has mostly been weak. Dunno if it's my carrier, but i've seen others having the same issue.
Try to be near an open area and not cover the bottom of the phone with your hand.
Also, buying a bluetooth headset might solve the problem entirely.
Worked for me at least!
Upgraded to Lollipop over the weekend, every time I use hangouts to video call my wife, she has terrible and very loud feedback, where she hears herself, but not just a faint eco or like you are in a bathroom. So I used earphones, and the problem went away. Also when the phone is plugged in with charger, she hears this weird electronic alien like sound the whole time.
Had none of these issues on Kitkat 4.4.2
Google Forum
Seems to be a wide spread issue with no fix, except for going back to Kitkat

Hey XDA!
I've during the past couple of weeks been getting complaints over my call quality from receivers. Now, as it's getting colder outside and I tuck my phone under my hat while making a phone call, my friends could no longer stand the horrible sound my phone was making.
After some research, having used WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, the built in phone call app - all same result.
I've come to the conclusion that my phone uses the back microphone (the one inbetween the camera and the flash) at all times. When I called myself from my friends phone, the quality is poor. It's really bad. I can hear echoing, I hear people several meters away who aren't talking to the phone, talk.
My phone should be using the bottom microphone, right? I cannot imagine this is the standard quality of the phone call.
I bought my 5T on release, so around 1 year ago now. I'm on 8.1.0, latest update, no root.
What should I do and how should I proceed? Tried making a thread on the official OP forums but I don't have the permission (I did just create an account there so might take some time before I get that permission).
Thanks!
Hi I'm having the same issue. Did you resolve your problem?
Hi all. Does anybody else have any issues with the microphone on their S20 Ultra (Exynos)? Yesterday I was on WhatsApp video call with my dad and every few minutes my microphone would stop working, ie. he would not hear me until I disconnected and called him again, sometimes twice before it would work again. Initially I though maybe WhatsApp is buggy on new phone but today when I made a normal phone call to my mum I had the same issue, although only first time around and when I called again it was fine for the remainder of 20+ min call. But later in the day I again called my dad on WhatsApp and same thing happened, only once but still. Anyone else? Should I be worried my Ultra is dodgy on the hardware level or is this something that can be fixed with software update?
Same here. My s20 plus microphone hardly catches any voice when my mouth is near the mic itself. Whereas while on call the other party hears nothing when I speak normally on calls. It's annoying af. Somebody give us a solution.
Warranty is solution.
Service centers are closed bro, our beloved corona is everywhere ?
