Comparison between aex 5.5/5.6 and dotOS v2.3 - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

which one is better in which aspect?

is subjetive, test every one , take your choice.

I have tried aex5.5. I am a moderate user (Twitter, You Tube,Quora, lots of music and casual browsing). I was getting around ~4:30hrs SOT, didn't feel any lag. Performance wise pretty smooth.
I gave DotOS a shot once and was simply amazed by its overall performance. SOT hangs around 6:30-7hrs. No lags or app crashes. Just stock kernel and I haven't felt the need to try other roms since. You could say it's equivalent to Viper-Nougat.

i havn't tried aex 5.6 but tried dot os 2.3 and aex 5.5
i would say dot is much better than aex 5.5
can't say 5.6 performance

stock dot os 2,3 without any mods
antutu 167566
geekbench 1780 single, 4250 multi
aex didn't test

Yes! AEX is a lot more responsive and fast compared to RR.
But with cost of high battery drain...

I think AEX is giving better SOT compared to RR .. my blind guess is that RR rom size is 600MB+ where as AEX is 400MB+ that could be the reason AEX is lite weight with minimal bloatware and consumes less battery compared to RR just a guess
I'm using lastest chinese rom 2.5.412 with LTE and WIFI both with normal using chating & browsring & listen music
Stay with zui only as it gives 7 + hours sot with lte on n regular use
I am back to zui.
Satisfied with sot. Usually I get 6-7 hours with 1-2 hours gaming and rest usual use.
Nothing against custom roms. They are awesome but my work doesn't allow me to invest much time fixing bugs when they appear.
That made me shift back to stock.
I'll post sot screenshot next time.

This. I am happy with backup on ZUI. Problem though is bugs and some missing basic features and smoothness and gaming performance when needed.

ROM Choice for my Lenovo Zuk Z2 Plus

Hi everyone. I've been looking for a ROM for my ZUK Z2 for quite a while now. I've been using ResurrectionRemix from May to August. It was OK I guess. No lags, the OS was pretty stable. Then, I went and tried AEX. I can say with confidence that I didn't really like the ROM because of bad SOT and heating issues. I tested PixelExperience (Smooth but a bit slow charging).
I am looking for a buttery smooth ROM on Android 7.1.2 (Facebook, Messenger, social apps) and overall snappy animations. I am looking for a ROM with an average SOT of around 5h30-6h. Finally, I would like to have a bit of customization, no heating issues and pretty stable. PS: I'm taking away Jaguar ROM (not kernel) from the list of choices because of the flashing process

That thread still doesn't help me make a choice. I already read it btw

What is a good custom ROM for Lenovo Z2 Plus?

I'm looking for a Nougat based ROM for this phone. I have a score of 156K on Antutu V7.0.4 on stock ZUI 2 Android 6.0.1, which I think is fairly decent. I don't care about customisations. All I want is a ROM that does not gimp the SoC's performance or reduce battery life/efficiency or have too high resource comsumption (RAM, CPU). Which ones would be the best? I mostly use this device to play games, browse the internet using Chrome and that's all. TIA
Edit: What I basically need from a ROM
1) Shouldn't degrade my SoC performance, only pump the benchmark numbers up
2) Doesn't have to have the latest security patch, as I've had no issues running August 2016 security patch since I got this phone
3) Shouldn't have connectivity issues with LTE/VOLTE, Wifi, Hitspot, Bluetooth
4) Shouldn't degrade the battery life
I know it's too much, but could you type your Antutu V7.0.4 scores in your comments? Does your custom ROM on your Z2+ really support Vulkan? Use Aida64 and lemme know.
TYVM.
Try Ressurection Remix

Best ROM for performance?

Yo, whats the best rom to make the most performance out of the Z2 Plus? Low thermals if possible? Im currently using RR 6.0 and i can run pubg fine on high settings but sometimes, my phone just heats up xd, mostly normal temps tho. Last time i benchmarked, the result was around 140k

It has akt inbuilt. Average 6+h sot in stock profile. You can configure it to get up to 8h. It has many kernel aduitor profiles on it which give a good customizability.
Use Aosip Rom, Latest 9th July Build..!! It's The best.. !
Running AiCP 13.1 latest weekly. Default kernel. No extra mods. No root. Jio VoLTE (Primary) AirTel Second SIM. A lot of indoor WiFi usage also.
I follow a 20-80% charge cycle assisted by AccuBattery app. Once a week I do full 100%.
Getting around 6 hours 15 mins SoT. General phone, social apps, work apps usage along with few matches of PubG before bed time.
Performance is okish. Not as great as some non treble ROM but if compared to other treble ROMs, performance is satisfactory !!
Bootleggers best performance and battery ( do some digging you'll know ?)
Try miui 9.5 rom it is best rom
Try H2OS
You should try H2OS, the most stable custom ROM I've used so far. Smooth and fast, with great battery life and features. My favorite custom ROM for this phone yet.
I hope it gets updated for 8.1 though.

What is the best Kernel for our Whyred?

We have some good Kernels for our Whyred. What is the best in your opinion?
Someone looks for performance, balance and only battery backup. I think we dont have a definitive solution.
I'm looking for performance and I'm currently using Kangaroo 5.1 OC version and I get around 6 hrs of SoT, on 4G all the time and mostly indoor use.

Kangaroox OC is the best Kernel for performance I think.
Overally best is icecold. Also purecaf is a really great kernel
There is no best, best is always relative

Kangaroo non-oc version seems to heat my device up much more than purecaf when using hotspot. So I just use purecaf as it heats less and gives slightly more fluid ui in my experience.
Everyone of them makes camera not to work?
I've tried Illusion, Agni, PureCaf, IceCold, basically all the major kernels with HavocOS and so far the best one I've found is KangarooX. I don't game at all on my phone but I prefer a smooth experience in daily use and KangarooX delivers that. It's the most well balanced kernel I've ever come across. No twiddling or tweaking, it just works fluidly day in, day out. No sudden lags or freezes, apps open almost instantly, animations are fluid and battery backup is pretty amazing. Better than IceCold whilst offering far more stable experience.
