Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is a known software besides the preinstalled one to use the MTCD as a bluetooth receiver?
Maybe even as a widget, so I can control the tracks from the dashboard or other apps.
Thanks so much
(I already googled and searched within the forum but found nothing useful.)
I’d be interested in this too, perhaps one that supported album covers as well

Hello, I'm currently looking for a nice switch profiles which can activate automatically my bluetooth.
Does anyone have such a nice free program ?
Thanks
Not free, but...
...PhoneAlarm is pretty good, with a pretty large bag-of-tricks.

PS: Mods, can this be moved out to one of the general forums?
I am looking for a good and working phone call recorder. Which can record directly, not over the speaker or something else.
In the market I saw some of them but they seem to be buggy.
Any idea?

Me too, but I have found none that works well is isn't crapware.
My only hope so far is Total Recall by Killer Mobile. I paid for their product some time ago for my Symbian handset and it has been perfect. Reliable and very flexible (you can define rules, exclusion lists, etc)
Unfortunately the developer seems to be working on Android versions.. some are working in some units but on the Galaxy it is still not finished. I downloaded the demo but it didn't work.
You can keep an eye on it tho at Killer Mobile's site (forum part).
If anyone knows of a better product for android, please let us know... call recording is very useful when you need to keep track of details and can't write at the time.
i saw a couple of them on Android Market, forgot the name
they both can record live calls
is good if you want to tape something to be used as evidence
any news?
The original post is a few months old, can anyone name a working application please? I switched from Omnia 2 and cant find any program that can match Vito Audio Notes or Resco Audio Recorder
Total Recall records only in A-Mode a few seconds, beginning with the line waiting (ringing on the other side) and the sound is distorted.
(the missing call recording and Garmin Maps make me think to go back to WinMo)
Thanks!
Hi, suggestion awaited..........

check hero/g2 forum, someone made a call recoder, it uses kernel library specific to hero so dosn't work on other phones, but devs can try hack like that on sgs... maybe.
Any NEWS on this issue.
haven't found a proper application until now.

haven't tired it yet. SGS is listed as compatible. Will test it myself once I flash to jp6.
Tried it and have to say it does not work very well so far. I'll play more with different settings before uninstall.

I have been reading some of the reviews on amazon about some of these mini keyboards, and I'm still adjusting to the onscreen keyboard as I came from the D2 then the TP2 before that, so I would like to know what ones are compatible with android? Does anyone have one? Most people in the reviews say that they can't get them to work with android, so I don't want to waste 20-30-40 bucks just to find out its not compatible with our devices. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Curious about this too, if don't remember seeing anything about bluetooth keyboards working without some hacking.

I guess you and I must be the only ones who care about this.
No...I very much care about this, too. I just tried to pair my Thunderbolt with my Apple wireless keyboard and it did pair. Now, however, it says "paired and not connected" but when I click on the keyboard name it does not do anything. When I press and hold the keyboard name, my only option is to unpair. Not sure how to proceed...
Reading a lot of the reviews on amazon it seems to be a running theme that not all of the BT keyboards are compatible with android. Now, whether that is true or not, I don't know. I was hoping to find someone who has one and can provide some insight. Supposedly, according to the reviews, there are two different protocols for BT and only one(spp, if that makes sense?) works with android. That's the best info I have gathered, but this is strictly based off of reviewers, so I don't actually know anything. So I thought I would bring my question/problem to the smartest community on earth.
I will play around again with my Apple keyboard tonight and see if I can figure this out for you. And for me!
I'm interested as well. Like you, I haven't been able to find any hard info either, and don't want to waste money...
hello, I've been interested in this for a while now…*
here's the BT keyboard i'm considering:
Spider E-BTKB-B001 Black Bluetooth Wireless Ultra Slim Keyboard - seen on newegg ~ $40
although today I tried this app:
market.android.com - Remote Web Desktop
its wifi keyboard feature gets your foot in the door with real keyboard text entry…*haven't tested this for my use case - notes in audible bookmarks - but i look forward to the future development of this Remote Web Desktop application
oops, i can't include links yet
So, if I understood your post correctly, you have already received this and it does work correctly? Can you post some pics to show how big it is compared to the phone? Thanks for the post.

+1 to this post. Very interested.
This one on amazon looks like it works... from the reviews anyway
ProMini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (Build-in TouchPad/Laser Pointer) - Black

I can confirm that my buddy's apple bt keyboard works with my TB, but my dell bt keyboard does not.
Can you provide the keyboard model that worked?
I have a no name mini bt keyboard that pairs but will not connect with my unrooted thunderbolt..
The one I have is an unbranded keyboard
Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for iPad/iPhone 4.0 OS/Android/Window Mobile/Symbian Smartphone
It will pair but not connect.

What app did you use to get the bluetooth keyboard to work? I'm very interested in this.
Has anyone tried the Motorola Wireless Keyboard? It's made for Android and has shortcut keys.

Intrigued, I would really like to know also. Is that the one for the Xoom?
I've got one of those no-name (actually a company called magic-pro) bluetooth keyboards, and I've tried every app/driver out there that I've been able to find to get the danged thing to work. So far the most useful thing on it is the laserpointer, it's a great cat toy. The bluetooth dongle does work pain-free with a Windows 7 machine, but that's not why I got the thing. Going to keep on trying new revisions, hopefully I'll hit something eventually that doesn't require rooting.
I use Wifi Keyboard occassionally which works great, cheaper then buying a BT.

Hahaha! You made my day OneStepAhead! I'm using it right now to text family without having to type on my phone. This is really really cool. I was not going to buy a $100 keyboard, so this is perfect.
Which one did you buy?
I have looked all over XDA and Google looking for an answer, so I hope I am not starting a repetitive thread.
I got my girlfriends Moto X in the mail today and she got a free Motorola Skip with it. She isn't going to use it, so I figured I would try and set it up on my HTC One. I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions, or tips? Has this been done yet?

I'm fairly sure a lot of people would. I'd like the quick notifications feature too.
Assuming you know how to NFC, can you scan it with NFC tag info and post the results?
I'll have a looksie see how it works.
(Scan tag, email to yourself then copy/paste from the email)

Thanks for posting this, was just coming online to post the same answer. Interested in the results.
If its just a standard tag - doubtful, but who knows with googorolla these days - I have an app called nfcsecure that does a similar thing. Due to limitations of the framework, I can't actually turn the screen on, but its an NFC lockscreen.
Hi guys
Just received this head unit today and it's my first android device for a few years - spent the evening installing it and I love it already - it's a huge leap from stuff I've had in the past.
One thing I can't see how to do though is how to add/change widgets on the main home screen on this version of android/this head unit.
I'm sure on previous android devices I've had it's been a case of doing a long press maybe on blank space on the screen, but this doesn't do anything. I found a screen panel which has some widgets that can be added to additional screens, but not the main one, and it doesn't include the items currently present, not things like app shortcuts etc etc.
This is probably a stupid/easy question sorry but I can't find out on this device how I change these, so if someone could assist I'd be really grateful, thanks!
Jim
Hi
I moved your thread to Q&A-Section.
Would you please tell us which ROM you are using? Or are you still on stock?
Sorry, my bad. Thanks for moving it!
It's still the stock rom. Does it say the details for that in settings where it has the other details such as model/processor etc?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Thanks if anyone can help
You'll need to use a different launcher. The default ones (next, etc) do not allow much/any modification
Thanks for the tip Brendo - didn't realise that's what it came down to.
I'll have a look into alternatives, but are there certain ones that are favoured for head units as opposed to ones that might be favourites on phones for different reasons etc?
Cheers!
Jim
Right - after some searching and reading I'm gonna change the launcher to Nova as it looks great and very flexible.
Also going to stick poweramp in it I think as a better quality music player.
