Where is the mixer_paths.xml file? - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

For me the most annoying thing about this phone is that the minimum volume is too loud. I use the phone at night and I need low volume. For now I use equalizer apps... I've tried lot of them but they are unreliable and I can't leave them always on because they also decrease the maximum volume and during the day I can barely hear the speaker.
On my previous phones I used to edit some values in the mixer_paths.xml file, located in etc/ folder.
The problem is that the moto Z2 play does not have any mixer_paths.xml file at all and I don't know where to look for.

If that was bothering me that much, I would change ringtone, some aren't as loud as others. Just an idea; I have that issue also.
Or make one with lower volume, set at night time.

It's not about ringtones, it's about youtube/media. Meanwhile, I've found mixer_paths.xml file, it was in vendor/etc/, now I have to understand which value I have to edit

Gotcha, I didn't realize the issue. Glad you figured it out.

Someone has it edited mixer_paths¿originalmz2f_.xml

Ring volume too low..

Hey guys,
I hope I'm not the only one, but for all of you that have an "ORIGINAL" ring sound, is it low when you receive a call?
I have the ring volume at MAX and I'm using a "office ring" ringtone, but it's just soooo low and can barely be heard when placed in a holder and in my pocket.
When I searched this forum, I found this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581477&highlight=ring+volume . Could this really be the cause of the problem? I do in fact have vibrate and ring, but I use the custom "av1pr" sequence that people from the Jade threads mentioned.
Hopefully there's a solution! Thanks!
ok i did a lot of testing and found out the vibrate has nothing to do with the ring volume
the system sound volume seems to be controlling the ring volume even when i separate the volume controls (one for ring, one for system).
i dont like the system sound loud, but i have no choice because the ring is very very low even at 100%
any of you guys have this problem or know a fix?
thanks
For a past phone, I had copied the ringer sound file that I liked to my PC, used a free audio recording/editing program and re-recorded the sound with a louder volume. Then, I copied the new sound file back to the phone and pointed the phone to it.

Thanks guys for the help.
I actually used the "registry" fix from the link, but where could I find a program that could increase the volume of a sound clip?
My sound is still a bit low.
I used the "Sound Recorder" which comes with Windows.

[Q] Is anyone else experiencing difficulty with Navigation volume?

So, I've made sure that ringer and media volume are at their highest, and I've noticed that it is kind of difficult to hear Navigation. Has anyone else dealt with this? I haven't had any of the "speakerphone or call quality issues", just noticed this the other day while traveling. If others have experienced it, do you have a work-around?
I think that generally all of the sounds on the Gnex are very low. I personally haven't used navigation ( i don't drive ) but all their ring tones notifications etc are very low.
One solution for the notifications i used was to 1) use your own audio files or 2) manually edit the audio file with a music editing program to have a higher master volume level.
That is where you may be able to get some success if you can locate where the audio files are for the navigation app you could try to manually increase their volume and replace them.

The audio files are downloaded on the fly, so trying to edit them wouldn't work too well. Look for volume+ in the market.

I guess that I will give it a shot. Ever since the update (and even before it) I really had no issue with media volume, speakerphone or call volume. Thanks for the advice.

[Q] Notifications/Ring Too Loud on Lowest Setting

I'm a little surprised that I couldn't find anything on this. My wife and I just got our GS3s a couple days ago and are both of the opinion that the lowest volume setting for both rings and notifications is still way too loud. There needs to be a step between vibrate and the first volume level up. I like my phone to make noise, but I don't want the people in the next cubicle over to really hear it.
For what it's worth, mine is rooted, but stock everything. My wife's is straight stock.
I'm doing a lot of reading up before deciding on a ROM. Does anyone know if any ROMs have finer volume controls?
Thanks for any help.
Only option is settings, sound. Volume, and check what it's set to. I believe you can have your phone sound set to the first level above vibrate but the notification sound can be set to max at all times by accident or something. Just set it to the 1st or 2nd notch and see how it sounds.

Thanks for the reply. They're all set to the lowest level. I still find it to be a bit too loud, though. I think I'll just leave it on vibrate, which is pretty damn loud by itself.
Yeah I think the lowest ringer/notification is way too loud for a cubicle environment.
Would love a solution.
I too find them to be way louder than any of my previous phones with the exact same notification sound. On my HTC is was fine, but now it's way too loud for an office environment.
Is there any apps out there that can adjust this or is it something in the firmware?
Re sample the file.
If the volume is not able to go low enough, try a quieter noise. Or use software to limit the volume of the notification you are currently using. You would just have to find software that will let you manipulate the levels of the audio file then you can save it as a quiet version. If that makes it too quiet for environments outside of work than use one of those apps that automatically select the notification profile during work hours.

[Q] Minimum volume too loud. Any way to lower it?

The lowest possible volume setting (before silent of course) on the M9 speaker is too loud for me. Is there any way to lower it further? Is there a specific file that controls the volume that I could modify?

Yeah, I already have it on Music mode. Still way too loud.
There must be a config file that has the sound levels in it that we can edit, no?
I just looked at Dragon-fi Audio, thanks. It seems like that has many more modifications that what I'm looking for. I just need a way to lower the sound level of the minimum volume.
you can edit a file called something with mixer_path.xml . but i forgot which exactly it was.. but yea Dragon-fi is really nice and awesome and really helps with static noise on m9...also anything else is much more improved *_*

S9 updated to Android 9 - Volume is WAY too loud

I recently updated to Android 9 and now the volume levels are way too loud even at the lowest setting. It's crazy loud even on 1.
In the past I have used Precise Volume to adjust the number of volume steps from 1-100 and this worked to decrease the volume. But since updating to Android 9 Precise Volume no longer works.
Is there anything I can do, short of holding my finger over the speaker(!) to decrease the overall volume?
Try Sound Assisant from Samsung. You can set your own % level for any app.

I don't get it. First it was too loud, now it's too quiet. Sound Assisant does not decrease overall volume. It just gives you more adjustment options.
