Anyone tested a newer Build ? (if something is even there)
For Asteroid OS, I would choose LG watch R or LG watch Urbane, since they are afforable, around 50 USD on ebay, and the belong to the best supported devices for Linux Asteroid OS:

It seems that there is currently an issue with a permanent install. On Linux I managed to solve it by patching img2simg. You can download the source code here: https://github.com/MagneFire/android-simg2img. Compile that and use the compiled img2simg instead of ext2simg to convert the image to a sparse image.
The issue you describe on Windows seems related to missing drivers you might want to try and install this fastboot driver: https://developer.sony.com/file/download/fastboot-driver/.
See https://github.com/AsteroidOS/asteroid/issues/161 for some more background info.

Finally I could boot live images of Android Kitkat and Lollipop from a USB stick on my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 8 (Z3770). Display and touchscreen work fine, but no wifi, bt, display rotate and battery charge indication. The Kitkat image runs very smooth and can be found here. It was developed for T100TA by Chih-Wei Huang, a chief developer at Android-x86. In the same thread Chih-Wei explains how to install Android. The Lollipop image is not running as smooth, probably due to lacking open GL support. I also found it in the Android-x86 discussion group here. It was built by György Pejović based on kernel 3.18 work of Chih-Wei Huang. Interested developers can hopefully get drivers to work for wifi etc. I installed a Vmware Lubuntu 14.04 for Android-x86 and Android-ia development and can hopefully contribute in the near future. Both Androids didn't work on my Voyo A1 Mini tablet (Z3735F). Kernel loads fine but when graphics mode is switched to show the splash screen the display flickers and nothing can be seen.
Hi, congratulation for this.
First of all excuse my English, I am french.
Maybe could you help me?
I have the Lenovo TP 8 - Windows 8 64 bits (4go ram, Z3795). I want to run android on my tablet. I try to install android IA for intel baytrail 64bits (i follow the tutorial on intel website) but it did not work... the installation failed with this error : error: fatal : bootable/iago/installer/partionner... and it says that it's impossible to install android on my disk cause there is no space, but it's wrong.
my skills in this area are very very limited.
Could you explain to me how must i do, with a little (and simple) turtorial if you can (Bios, usb, ...)
Thanks a lot for your time

Are you saying there is no need to use the Asus unlocker tool?
Saw a bunch of warning on their site saying I have sign away the first born if I ever use it.
Also does the various memory make any difference? Since there are 32/64 and 128gb versions.
@GuilhermeXtreme can you kindly shred some light on this posts.

Did you find d out what's different between the 2 version s z00x and z00a?
I saw a comparability listing showing it as a zenfone 2 model and not zoom. Although both seem to run same programs including camera app. Google camera can't access some specialised camera processing on these phones and pics come out looking bad in anything but sun light. I think so will all other camera apps.

You are absolutely correct, the major difference is camera.
I tried CleanStock MM which was based on Z00A base, everything worked except 2 important things (camera and mobile network, it was way too smooth comparatively).
Finally the OP of this thread @GuilhermeXtreme did the dirty work of porting the z00x base with his custom modifications, removing bloatware/rooting/magisk and other enormous stuff.
z00 or z00d varies because of hardware differences like 16, 32, 64, GB variants, different processors too.
Check wikipedia for more detailed information about this.
One thing I got to mention is, this phone uses Intel cisc CPU, installing Android apps not optimized for it draws more than twice the battery consumption. Not only does the CPU itself draw more power but the display does too. If all 3 are not synced the battery drains very fast. Even though Asus says install Google apps, I am not sure they are all optimized for Intel. Emulating is slower and also a power hog.
Just things I noticed while using it. During use the battery drain is huge. It will last 2 or 3 days with only phone use but not for apps. Using unoptimized apps drains battetyuch faster than on arm CPU. I went back to many Asus apps now which are huge in size but uses less power.
how to install xposed?
Nice work! Any chance of taking a peak at Lineage OS for this device?
I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
Process at your own risk!
This firmware was developed for the p905. It doesn't apply to the p905v at this time because it's bootloader locked and a custom recovery isn't possible.
If you want to check firmware - please make backup. Better to store all partitions, at least efs and may be modem.
I'm using nano gapps.
Instructions
1. Install custom recovery
2. Download the zip(s) - firmware and Google Apps additional package (optional)
3. Backup all partitions (it least efs) and store somewhere - it need to do - because you can loose imei
4. Full wipe all
5. Flash firmware and gapps

Hey my friend, really awesome to see you back with such outstanding rom!
Thank you very much for such amazing work!
I have tested this ROM for a few days.
When starting the device it gives a message system process stopped.
Next error I get insert sim, does not look to be recognized yet.
Further I did not get issues, with the basic programs.
Looks promising
Thank you for all the work on this!

Thanks for the releasing Oreo for the P905. It is sad that there is still no new 12" Note tablet on the market that take it's place. Especially because of that we all appreciate your work so we are not forced to abandon the device.
However I sincerly hope that you continue to release 14.1 versions until this rom is out of alpha. I and presumably others use that version as a daily driver. You skipped september security updates, I presume you couldn't find the time, so I hope for an october release. It is sad that android now needs monthly security updates but it seems it's the way things flow these days.

I'm sorry, all september worked with a oreo. I do not forget the lineage 14, I did several test builds, and fixed the pressing of the left button with the s-pen (tasks switching). There is yesterday's build - publish it or wait a couple of days and post a september security update?
In any case, I will continue to work with lineage 14, I really do not like consumption in standbye mode, I want to try another kernel. Also, there is still a problem with adjusting the volume during calls.
@Valera1978,
thanks for clarifying that. I think everybody who uses your rom understands that this is a one man show and your time is limited. Regarding publishing, of cause I can't speak for anybody than myself I presume that people would agree to skip the september updates. The october updates are already available and regarding security I think digital, either everything known is patched and you are secure as far as it possible or your are not. I don't think it makes much of a difference if you have more or less vulnerabilites.
One thing that might interest other people in regards of security update is blueborne. I'm curently not sure on which level this must be patched. If it's the driver level than things might get difficult for devices that went out of support. Your last rom 0823 shows vulnerability regarding that bug collection.
Thanks for your continued work on that rom.
Kind regards,
mnemonic-de
Dont know if this is a known bug but after installing this version i have problems playing videos. Both in the facebook app and on websites with integrated video
@Valera1978 are you using the same Lineage 14.1 kernel? The work needs improvements (in the part of the calls mainly) but for an alpha version is very good. Thank you!
Just curious
Is this rom being developed actively or was it more "Proof of concept" right now.
Asking because i have some issues that i could live with for a while, while it is being developed, but as i see no updates i am thinking of going back to 14.1
I don't use sim card therefore wi-fi only. From the remarks it looks like this alpha is working well except for the mobile functionality. I think I will give it a go if the basics of Google calendar and email are working via Wi-Fi.
Early experience :
Issues
- being used wi-fi only
- does not play videos at all. Some apps think they can play videos but don't initiate and stand still at time=0. Others seem to be smarter and give message video can't be played. I tried YouTube, Chrome, VLC, and Plex
- developers rights enabled but missing nifty reboot menu to boot into other options such as recovery. BTW this does work my Los 15 mido phone
- camera not working with any camera app I tried.
The good :
- seems to be faster.
- battery life also seems to be better, although not hugely so
- S-pen is working. Experience in Squid is good which is this tablet's main use
- Oreo's feature set is very nice once you get used to it. Interactive notifications are hard to miss.
- magisk works perfectly.
Could this possibly work for the T900? Being y'all say Wi-Fi works.
For p900 please
Any development for P900
The P900 has a different SoC iirc so you are most likely going to find a version for that in a different thread.
The p900 is officially supported by lineage so you could probably get it directly from the source! Nevermind not released just yet, probably soon though!
I tried the first version, released in September but it was not good because video playback (Facebook, youtube, dailymotion, etc.) was not working.
Has anyone tried the latest version and if you, can you confirm if the video playback works.
I have used this a couple of days now. For the purposes I do use it , all works fine.
Earlier question on video playback, I use vlc and this works.
Hey guys,
I'm running Rexmix OS on my Pixel which means that i won't get an security update for Meltdown/Spectre...
Can i just put an fixed Kernel on it and go on with my marshmallow based Remix?
I found this one: https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/tegra/+/android-tegra-dragon-3.18-oreo-r6
I couldn't find out if it even has the fix...
How do i flash it, I'm used to the one file fasboot flashing stuff :/
And btw does anybody know if Phoenix OS (seems like they are continueing the Remix OS) has planned to support Pixel C (they didn't reply to my email...)?
sry for all my n00b questions
could please somebody just tell me if i CAN update the kernel and keep the os? ...
I think kernels are specific to devices and android versions. So as long as the kernel you use is for the pixel c and the same android version as the rom you use, it should work. That said, you might struggle to find a pixel c kernel with fixes to those vulnerabilities...
Good luck, let is know if it works..
We are only vulnerable to Spectre you'd have to pull the patches from the common tree and merge in
live is a risk (spectre)?
ok thanks a lot for the answeres, guys; good to know that meltdown doesn't affect the pixel
since the only thing i know is copy and paste, i guess that's it for me :silly:
still didnt get an answer from the phoenix OS guys :/ I guess they are busy enough already
So whats your guys opinion: could I just stay on my remix OS marshmallow, be carefull using the web and untrusted app sources and just deal with the spectre thread? Live is a risk? :silly:
btw: are you guys cool with aosp roms? Personally i use the pixel like a laptop so normal android with the status bar and the weired button setup seems very unhandy for me...
I am Stock Oreo with freeform windows enabled via adb and "taskbar" app installed from play store to launch apps in freeform mode and quiet happy. Stock freeform is buggier than the implementation found on RemixOS or PhoenixOS but I get the latest android version, on the upside. RemixOs is dead and PhoenixOS doesn't even have a pixelC version, I think..
If you are worried about security , you can root and install a custom kernel too..

Dear reader,
since a couple of days my device (samsung S7: SM-G930F) is running low on battery really quick. So I thought; it has been a while since my device asked me to update the new Lineage version. So I gave the app the instruction to look for updates, and it gave me the following notification.

Switching to Snapshot instead of Nightly in the Settings didn't help.
Then when searching again for updates it gave me the message:

When I press: download full zip-file it gives the following:

S7 is no longer officially supported by lineageOS. You can search here in XDA for unofficial ROMs.
I have no big hope that a new ROM will really solve your battery issue. Most of the the success stories are a result of a clean ROM installation.

In addition to the outstanding information that @kurtn had provided...
There's no Official LineageOS Updater Apps on the Play Store.
The reason is that they have an implemented LineageOS Updater built into the Firmware and has no need to provide any such app separately from the firmware. That would just be counterproductive to the built in Updater.
The LineageOS Updater App(s) on the Play Store is via a 3rd party developer. I'm not stating that any/all of them are either good or bad but, individuals need to know that their Unofficial and is in no way supported by the Official Lineage Team Maintainers.
Just a few (so to speak) words of advice to keep in mind. I remember asking about them (quite a while ago) and those were the types of words/thoughts by @invisiblek and @haggertk (whose a part the Official Lineage Lead Maintainers).
No lectures here... Just some friendly information for you My Friend!
Good Luck!

Hi Kurt and Ibuprophen, thanks for your answers!
Now I have finally holiday and time to actually fix things it's time to continue this
So current situation;
Phone running out of battery within half a day without frequent using, apps crashing > update definitely required.
Phone model: Samsung S7 SM-930F
LineageOS version: 14.1-20181124-NIGHTLY-herolte (so last update is over a year old)
Android version 7.1.2
Options:
1. Just reset to factory settings? Most easy option, but I think it will have negative influence when I use the phone for another year?
2. I found this unoficcial ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/beta-lineageos-16-0-s7-herolte-t3842465, however, it doesn't include instructions and it is very technical and it speaks of Android 9 as base, which I don't have; just 7.1.2. Would that be a problem?
3. Update to 15.1 instead if that is easier?
So what would be your advice? Please bear in mind that I am a technical noob and can only follow instructions that are extremely clear & correct
Until now I haven't found instructions I felt comfortable with unfortunately.
By the way my laptop has Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2

Oh, looks like ivan does a good job. I think it is a good idea to install his rom.
But be aware: whatever it is, that eats your battery, it can come back.
Edit: be aware: from the threads it looks like 15.1 and 16.0 are not SELinux enforcing. So the gain of security is not as high as one would expect from security patch level. So you can try a factory reset of 14.1 as well.
Do you think there is an easy, technical-illiterates-friendly way to install this version of ivan? I am not that keen to have the highest possible security.
When I am emptying the phone anyway, it seems best to me to have the most recent version (if it doesn't matter that I have android 7.1 and not android 9).

Download the zip files for rom (and GApps if needed) boot into twrp wipe system, data and caches (not internal: there are your pictures and downliads etc)
Install: navigate to downloads folder select the zip file and hipe it works.
If not: ask in the thread you linked.

Don't use that app. Use the procedures described in wiki.lineageOS.org
