Disabling read receipt confirmation popup - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

I feel like a moron asking this, but I've dug through all of the settings, and I just can't find a way to turn off this annoying popup. Every time I'm texting with someone who has read receipts turned on, I get a message saying, "reminder: read receipt will be sent" or something like that. It's really annoying and I just want it to stop.

What app are you using?

Good question. I've wondered the same thing for quite a while but never looked into it. I use the stock Samsung Messages app.

Message alert, still there!

I assume others are having this problem but not seen much posted about it
other then some people using other message alerts.
But basically, i get a text, i click on the message thing, reply to the text, but in the top corner the message sign is still there, and the led still flashes.
Its a little bug but rather anoying.
Any fixes?
Im not using any message alert things, just the normal pre loaded one.
I've had it a few times, normally when I'm in the sms app anyway and get sent another. Only way to clear it I've found is to send myself a message then read & delete it
I find a faster way is to quickly delete the messages icon and put back on your desktop.
Yer, glad im not only one with this problem, more of a annoying then a flaw i think

HTC EVO SMS Problem

Cant figure this out, hope there is a hotfix. The order of my SMS messages are all screwed up. The messages that are sent to me show a completely different time than mine. This makes it very hard to have a conversation. I can send a message say at 2:00, and girl sends me a message back it will say like 6:53 and push all other messages out of order. This happens when anyone messages me. Im completely up to date. Any ideas?

MORE INFO PLEASE
rom,kernel,prl, network?
might wanna move this to q&a
This belongs in a different thread.
Try updating profiles or give it time. Sometimes its a network issue.
Future reference this should be in q n a.
Are you using the stock messages app? I thought I read once on XDA that someone else had an issue like this, but when using a 3rd party app, it worked fine. Maybe try that, and if it's not that, it's probably something with your network atm.
I have this problem when I'm roaming but the hours are just off, minutes are the same. Like if someone sends me something at 12:34 my phone will say 4:34. I assume its just because I'm roaming though.

Go sms pro

Weird problem. My sms messages come in o.k.(one tone), but my mms messages come in with a double tone. Any help would be appreciated.

What it's doing is alerting you when you first receive the message and then when the MMS is actually downloaded. This can get quite annoying, especially if you have a lot of iBuddies always group messaging. On the other hand, it can be useful to someone like me who has very limited data and turns it off periodically. The stock messaging app doesn't have that first alert. So if I don't happen to turn data back on, that message essentially stays in limbo.
I love this feature so here's my workaround. Allow GoSMS to notify you, however, turn off the notification sound and vibration. Let the stock messaging app handle that. It's a little redundant but for someone like me, especially if I'm very low on data, this prevents me from being rude to someone because I never received their mass text.
It's a dumb old technology that the cellphone companies are desperately clinging on to to keep text-messaging a separate add-on. If text-messaging uses data, then why can't the data that we pay for take care of text-messaging?! Sorry, I'm getting off topic. LOL

Thanks for the reply. I've disabled the stock messaging app, and don't see the need for two messaging apps. GoSMS only notifies me twice, when there's an attachment with the text, otherwise only one notification. I guess that i can live with it. Thanks, again.
Ok guys no threads about Go sms. This app has been blocked from talks on XDA due to security concerns that the Go team refuses to come clean about.

[Q] Strange Texting Problem with ZenWatch

Wow, I must be the first one with a Zen Watch problem... or at least the first one with a Zen Watch... lucky me. Also, first time poster, so I hope I'm doing this right!
The issue I have occurs when I try to send a text message from my watch. When I do, I use voice to select a recipient as I would with Android Wear on any other device. While it looks like the message is sent from my phone (i.e it shows up in my message history with the selected recipient), the person never actually receives it. When I click on "Message Info" in the conversation history, it looks like the watch is adding "01" to the beginning of the phone number. The only thing I can think of is that this additional "Country Code" is screwing up the text.
I'm using a brand new S5, and it occurs in the stock messaging app, the Verizon messaging app, and Google Hang Outs. Any one have any ideas?

I tried a couple of times and it worked for me. Sprint HTC One Max Stock. Stock messaging app. Not using hangouts. That probably doesn't help much but at least lets you know it 'can' work.
I think your theories about country codes, etc may be right, but I would think you'd have the same issue if you do it via 'Ok Google' from the phone itself?

Hey Faxman,
Thanks for the response! Actually, you're right. I just tried it, and the same thing occurs if I try to send a voice text directly through Google Now on my phone. The message shows up in my conversation history, and looks like a normal text from my end. But it is never received at the destination. I still think that my country code analysis is the root of the issue, but I have no idea how to change it without attempting a 3rd party message app. I don't have a problem doing that inherently, but I would rather fix the problem then bandaid it
Any ideas from the massess would be awesome!

Any word on RCS?

I know there was talk of Google just basically forcing it on but do we know if and how RCS will work? From carrier models and unlocked?
I dont know why this isnt being made a big deal because thisi could really make a huge change....i talked with someone yesterday at tmobile and they said it was turned off around February this year for some reason....Google just cant run things like Apple simply put because Apple would not have left that in the carriers hand period....Google needs to take over and build out their data centers like apple and say the hell with the carriers because it can really be something that could be great....its one of the reasons i left iphone because i was under the impression it was very near but i may be wrong....
I'd rather not have RCS.... I like my privacy and don't need others seeing if I have read a message or am typing out a reply to them, etc. But I realize others think this is a nice feature, I personally am glad that we have SMS for our texting though. If one wants RCS they can use a messenger service easily enough.
Have been using RCS for ages here O2 UK and have to say like a lot. Nothing done by me just popped up.
I use beta Google messages.

Hundred percent agree. When I got my N10+ I got bombarded with this nonsense message on every new SMS I received or was sending, if I really don't want msg recieved receipt or something along the lines and then freaking thing changed the settings on it's own. I can understand lawyer sending subpoena would want receive receipt, but I'm not a lawyer. If I want see people typing I'll make video call. BTW I have something called chat on my phone under messages, isn't that RCS? If so let me make sure it's all disabled.

Being able to see if your message has been read is really nice because you can tell if someone is purposely ignoring you or just busy. If I want to keep them guessing, I ignore their message entirely.
Most people in my country use whatsapp. Both android and apple.

I want to read your msg and decide myself if I deem it important or not, it could be emergency. I could be ignoring your message because I'm driving, I could be having fun with my wife or simply ignore you as irrelevant, it's my problem not yours. I want my privacy and I will not allow my phone to spy on me, which it's doing anyway.
90% of time I send a message, other person reads and responds. If I have no response and it's urgent I call, otherwise they ignore me I ignore them. This nonsense with msg read, person is typing etc. sounds like privacy issue to me, created by law enforcement or corporate lawyer minded person. IMO all those settings should be factory set to NO and you should actually explicitly agree to your phone spying on you, not set to on automatically, some people are probably not even aware of it.

I understand your opinion, and simply disagree for the above-mentioned reasons.
From the counter position, knowing whether or not you've had time to read my message is very helpful to me because I may or may not feel the urgency to call you depending on why I sent a message in the first place. If the issue is relatively time-sensitive but you haven't read my message after an uncomfortable amount of time I will call. If you have read it, it may not be necessary to call as I might assume you've already determined its importance since I know you read the message.
From my perspective, it sounds like you sort of just don't like messaging for normal day-to-day communication which is totally fine - nothing wrong with having your own likes and dislikes.
