L34 Magisk - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

I am looking for the stock ramdisk.img to use with Magisk manager on the MATE SE oreo update. So I pulled the ramdisk file out the update.app with 7zip. But when I try to use it on Magisk I get an error that it failed/could not unpack boot.img. oddly enough I used it on twrp image for giggles and it worked perfectly (of course I didn't flash that tho lol) any ideas? My mate se does not have twrp as it is on oero and there isn't support yet.

There is oreo support for twrp. Well it does not have de-cryption, but the twrp works (mostly)

What about if you are trying to stay off the custom recoveries, so I can stick with the OTAs. You would not happen to know how to properly get the ramdisk file would you?

/Kernel contents

I flashed over my /kernel by mistake, I still have fastboot but twrp can not boot, I beleive once a full OTA for the bnd-l24 is available I can fix it. What is in the /Kernel partition? OPEN TO ANY SOLUTIONS. If someone could pull their /kernel partition from an emui 8 bnd-l24 or I guess any variant assuming the content is the same, that'd be great!

You should be able to extract the kernel.img from update.app
It is inside the udpate.zip you flashed to get Oreo
But if you flash wrong , it might get worse

I can't find a kernel.img, can you tell me where it would be? I checked both update.apps, do you have a copy? you think since I can not flash the no check recovery I could switch the vendor and go to stock recovery and perfrom an update from a update zip on root of the external sd?

10.0.5 boot.img?

Hey all! I'm trying to root my OnePlus 7t but I'm on 10.0.5 stock and I can't find a patched boot.img, or even a stock one to patch in Magisk. I'm on the global variant. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be grand. I have already read mostly all the posts...
I have the US version which I think is also the global version. Here's my patched boot.img for 10.0.5
https://drive.google.com/file/d/12tZN5D7dmovIeqsx8sTF-B0z2gxA6LG8/view?usp=sharing

Don't ask why the file sizes are so different. It just gets smaller for some reason after patching it in magisk.
I just booted with an older one and flashed the latest magisk

I would try fastboot boot before you use fastboot flash just to make sure that the device will boot successfully with the images. You should only need to fastboot boot magisk_patched.img, then open Magisk Manager and install Magisk by choosing the direct install option in the list. You only need the steps I mentioned to have root, and if you flash it to A and B at once you can get stuck in a bootloop. I had that happen at one point from flashing both partitions, and I dont recommend trying it.

Ya, I tried every relevant boot image I could find in the forums, and the device didnt work properly with any of them. The only one that allowed the device to boot successfully caused the wifi and sounds to not work. So I downloaded the full update from OnePlus and extracted it to a folder, then used payload dumper to extract all of the individual images out of the payload.bin file from OnePlus. I copied the boot.img into the phone storage and installed Magisk Manager, then patched the stock boot.img and copied it from the phone to my pc. Then I used fastboot boot magisk_patched.img to make sure the image I made would work. I booted the device and inside Magisk Manager I chose direct install in the list of options and everything went smoothly, and I didnt need to rely on finding images online that would hopefully work.

Thanks a bunch for the share. That was the missing piece that I've been looking for. I have the HD1905 variant and I just used Magisk to patch the stock file you provided. After testing, I'm finally rooted. Thanks again.

root 10.5.8

For whatever reason OnePlus removed the 10.5.8 update from their server. Therefore we can't patch to boot img.
The steps I took were
1. Patch 10.5.6 boot the img in fastboot
2. Reboot into system setup magisk
3. Reboot again in fastboot
4. Boot magisk patched img
5. Go into magisk and install and choose direct install
6. Profit with a 10.5.8 device without the wifi/gps/Bluetooth issues.
Thought I'd share my experience as I bought second hand and it had the latest update and couldn't find the download link to the full system update.
Might want to mention which Magisk, the known problem with Canary?
Also why patch 10.5.6 and not 8

He dont have the 10.5.8.full rom to extract and patch the img
So he probably patch the 10.5.6 img , he just boot it temporary on fastboot , going to magisk ,installing magisk and when he's rebooting , he's on 10.5.8 rooted..

Not if you have already updated via the OTA..
He probably got the OTA ( full zip) install it and then boot it..
If you've updated via local upgrade , then the full ROM zip has been saved on internal storage ...
But the easiest way to update and keep root is to just take the ota through the updater..dont reboot go to magisk manager , install magisk on inactive slot , ...done...
Patched img only needed to root after unlocking bootloader ..
Not anymore....
Bought the device updated already and can't find the 10.5.8AA build at all on OnePlus

Magisk patched boot.img for OOS 10.0.14 (EU & intl. | HD65BA & HD65AA)

Hi everyone,
so I intended to root my OnePlus 7T HD1903 updated to OOS 10.0.14 via Magisk. Unlocked the bootloader and followed this guide to gain root access. Except it doesn't mention the need to use a boot image that exactly matches the phones OS version. Thinking I should just use the latest boot_10.0.7HD65AA_magisk_patched_op7t.img, I flashed it using fastboot flash boot filename.img. And my phone does actually still boot up but the wifi can no longer be turned on, which also means that I can't install Magisk.
Could a kind soul please, please, please send me the correctly patched boot.img for HD1903 (=HD65BA) running OOS 10.0.14? Or is there any other way to fix my phones wifi?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Afaik the latest oos version released for OnePlus 7T is 10.0.13 !
No, OOS version 10.0.14 is installed and you can't downgrade for some reason:
you can pull the boot.img from the update file of 10.0.14 by dropping the update on your pc and unpacking the payload.bin with the payload dumper, and then patching the boot.img with the magisk manager, then Flash or boot the patched boot.img on the oneplus

Yes, however I was unable to find a way to get the update file on my pc, as its size exceeds my mobile data per month, the wifi on my phone can't be activated and oxygen updater doesn't provide a direct download link, which I could open on my pc. That's the deadlock I am trying to get out of...
can someone post a link for downloading 10.0.14?

Thank you very much tchleb! I was about to post, that I was able to download the 10.0.14.HD65BA zip-file via a friends phone (not even OnePlus!). The patch worked as intended and my phone is rooted with working wifi, yay!
Therefore I can add the working boot.img and magisk_patched.img for OOS 10.0.14.HD65BA (EU-version)

Anyone got the patched 10.0.14 for the HD65AA (US version)? I can't unpack the payload and make my own just now.
Never mind, I took the update without rebooting and installed Magisk directly before rebooting.
Worked like a charm.

I'm not aware of a special US version, afaik the US just uses the international version, which is HD65AA. Here are the files:

Question Fastboot Stock Roms

Hey guys, more and more Roms are coming out for our beloved OnePlus 9 pro. I had a 6 and 7tp before and there were stock oos Roms, which you could easily flash via Fastboot and have OOS back.
It's just more convenient to simply have one file instead of flashing all images and so on
It'll be so great if any developer could try to create one, since it shouldn't be so difficult (at least that's what I guess haha)
I created one (11.2.7.7.BA), it should work, but need testers. Ofc, Use it on your own Risk, but we have MSM Tool
Test_EU_11.2.7.7.zip

fastboot -w not correct work
d:\Software_Tools\Multimedia\Handy-Taplet\Handy\Backup\Download\Rom\Payload Dumper 64 bit\payload_output>fastboot -w
Erasing 'userdata' OKAY [ 1.960s]

fastboot: error: Cannot generate image for userdata
I owe you a beer Sconny, you brought me back from the brink! I didn't exactly use all of your files, so I'm not sure if I count as a tester, but I was able to use your fastboot commands from Flasher.bat and turn that into a shell script. I ran it not really knowing it was going to work, so I ended up not wiping beforehand but it looks like it turned out fine. Oh and I didn't use your zip, used my own and dumped the payload myself. Thanks again Sconny!

Yes but for flashing custom Roms you only need need some of the images flashed to the other slot prior to flashing the custom ROM zip. The system IMG and vendor IMG and some others are not needed. Comes in handy when moving from one custom ROM to another.

Never mind though as this was inaccurate on my part, vendor img is needed...my bad. This method just lets you flash to latest fw after you're already on a custom rom. So to say if a newer fw came out after you could update to it.
I will take a look on it when I've got more time, sorry guys. I need to test it on myself in order to provide this variant of restoring our devices, but I'm working much as hell atm and family stuff etc. Is more important. But I promise I will try to provide a fully functional package for all versions. System, ODM and Vendor is still buggy, but I have some ideas how to fix it

There should be the same bug with wiping. But I have an idea, I gonna download AA and will upload here. 1 hour needed
Uploading right now.
Here is the AA Version. Wipe Manually, i have to figure out why its not working, for me it does (Maybe cable, usb port?)
I am not a Developer, i'm just doing this for fun and testing when i have time. As always, use at your own risk.
I disabled Verity for the 3 Partitions, maybe that will help. If you guys have some Ideas, please let me know.
Once it is working flawlessly, i will create a thread and update the "tool" for BA/AA/DA Devices.
