Hold the power button by itself for 15-20 seconds -- otherwise it's dead--may try to replace battery as battery may be bad
I dont think its the battery since it was charged when it went off, is there is a possibility that it is a software issue
Try to leave the phone charging for several hours and try to power it on (hold the power button for at least 20 seconds)
If it doesn't work just reach out Google for a solution
Same thing happened to one of my Pixel XL phones today too. Randomly turned off, and now it's off for good and I can't get it back.
Tried charging overnight, tried holding power, holding power+volume down. Nothing works. There's no vibrate, no LED nothing. It's just 100% dead.
Mine die too. Was working, then it crash and won't boot, it will reboot endlessly. Flashed both official and Android P. Same thing until permanent dead. Relock the bootloader, no boot still. Put it in the fridge. Turned on. Then die again rebooting. This is my second google phone that dies unexpectedly, nexus 5 when from working to endless reboot and this pixelxl now. Have a nexus 6p that had to exchange two times for camera and call problems. Sold the last one. The only google phone still standing is the nexus 6 that has my mother still use daily.
My best friend had nexus because of me and both die. Nexus 5 when from working to sudden death, nexus 5x working to sudden death. His were not even rooted or bootloader unlock.
Google sucks at phone quality. And I have blamed LG all this time.
Samsung first Galaxy S still working today. Samsung S3 and S4 never die on me and people I gave them too. Note 8 working like a champ.
This is Google own doing, too much to be just coincidence.

Need help /advice please
Im on M9 rooted,s-off, viperone 3.5 rom, supercid, firmware 2.10.401.xx and twrp 3.0.0.0. all fine beforehand.
I was planning to do firmware upgrade, so thought i better check the laptop connections first.( So I haven't done any firmware upgrade or rom change yet.) but..
heres what happened
(note - all was working fine last week, recovery, adb, reboot function were all ok.)
- Yesterday i connected my phone to laptop and my laptop suddenly was not detecting the phone (!). strange. it worked last week. (but the laptop was still able to charge the phone then). Tried different cables same thing. strange.
-so i thought its been ages since a power down. probably needs a proper shutdown and then clean reboot right?
-i shutdown the device using the power button. (I might have accidentally pressed the power button too long and forced a shut down - cant recall )
-but the device shutdown like normal and then just would not reboot. nothing. no charge light even when connected to charger now.
-I tried hard reset press all three (vol and power) buttons for 30seconds (up to 1minute) - nothing. phone still "black screen of death". wont boot. (tried vol up+power or vol down + power all no boot no nothing.) Never happened before. No idea what happened. Any ideas?
Any advice much appreciated
Try holding all three buttons for a couple of minutes while it's plugged into the charger.
If that doesn't work, leave it plugged in overnight. HTC phones can have these weird power issues where the phone appears to die, then comes back to life the next day.

OK I will try that. My battery was 90% charged before it died. but will try your suggestion and get back to you. hopefully my M9 is not irrecoverable....
{edit}[Update]
When I plugged into charger the charge light does not go on.
but i tried hold all three buttons while in charger, the charge light did begin blinking on and off times, but no reboot.
(i tried that over 10 times, holding upto 3 or 4 mintues till my fingers turned white, sadly no reboot.)
So I left it plugged into charger overnight but same this morning.
Any idea what it could be? I was rooted, S-off and unlocked bootloader so my warranty is history anyway.
Appreciate any ideas/advice. tia.
Having power issues as well..starting to think this m9 is a piece of junk..3 of my USB chargers stopped working on my m9 (they worked before)..one charges on and off very slowly.
ya my M9 just died and still would not boot. So strange, because it was almost all was fine beforehand. it was just it suddenly could not link to my laptop. and after a power down just died.
So after hours and hours of holding all three buttons while charging, not able to boot for days, and leaving charged for nights and no boot...I gave up. Took my phone to HTC service. They said it might take a month and I have no warranty. not happy with this at all and very confused. My guess is it could be the Power IC or some capacitor that just died. No idea. Makes me begin question quality of the M9. I saw a few guys on youtube comments say same thing. Their M9 after shut down would'nt reboot. So its not just me at least.
I saw this same thing happen on the M7. Some weird power/battery gremlins. Annoying they haven't fixed it.
after 5 months of my phone in and out of different HTC services they could not fix my phone power issue and seems they gave up and
replaced with new phone.
so almost 5 months I had no M9. . the power issue really disappointed me.
The other day, Sleep as Android (beta) alarm went off on my Pixel XL, and I used my Huawei wear watch to snooze it (running 1.x Wear). I doubt this relates, but I had not used the watch to snooze on this particular phone before. After about 10 minutes, I woke up without the alarm, looked at the phone and it was turned off. Completely off, even though it was still plugged in to the wall charger. No charging animation. The bootloader was locked, (never unlocked it), and it was at stock 7.0 (t-mobile).
Tried to turn it on, nothing; tried to get into bootloader/safe mode - no luck. Plugged it into the original and numerous other wall chargers, laptop, portable charger - nothing. It will not turn on. The phone had been plugged in to power all night at the time of the first alarm so I believe the battery was fully charged. I had google call me and they ran through the usual troubleshooting steps, and stated they would replace it. I was told I would receive a call in the next few days to arrange the return, gave them my credit card to hold the new phone until I returned this one. Never heard anything more until I called them today. The person I am currently speaking with says there is no record of that phone call or the replacement being ordered or anything - great. Got the RMA email while I was on the phone and ordered the replacement.
I have had many android phones, including just about all of the nexus line, and still have my 6P and am using it now. This has never happened before. Most of these other phones I had unlocked the bootloader and rooted them. Not sure why I didn't do that with this one, but luckily I didn't.
I have not seen any other reports of this happening - wondering if anyone else has heard of this.
Not me.
me either
My pixel xl did something very similar the day before I decided to unlock and root it.
Except mine happened after a call. I received the call, answered and had a conversation, then hung up and plugged it in. About 30 minutes I came back by and could not get the screen to turn back on.
Well, I've been a long time user of Android phones, even made a few Roms for my old g2 and my Nexus 6, so I knew a few tricks. The first thing I tried, was holding the power button. I probably held it for a minute (hoping and praying I didn't mess it up somehow). Usually a good long few second of holding the power button will force restart the device. Anyways, by the time I gave up and released the power button the screen finally came up to the boot animation.
I guess my main thing here is to ask if you tried first restarting the device like I did, by holding the power button.
I use the same app and use a pebble smartwatch to dismiss the alarm so probably not related

Question: did you plug in power while your phone was in this state, and if so, did you see charging animation? I don't see anything. I've tried holding power for a few minutes - no dice.
Yes, plugging and unplugging did nothing to the screen. It was literally just a white brick. Well that sucks though.
I have a LG G3 D851 from T-Mobile. I had it from about two years now. It upgraded to Android M about a year ago and now the phone won't charge or turn on. I tried everything. First I tried to hard reset' but nothing. Next I tried refrigeration. The phone would start up and go to homescreen, but then freeze and shut off. I even bought a new battery, but it would still have the same problem. Sometimes tne phone would start and shiw that screen on but nothing on it, and it would also turn on and turn off then show the led flash red and blue. When I charge it, it would show the battery loading up and shut down, then the phone would keep restarting. Like I said, tried every thing. If anyone could help me that would be great.
Thanks

I would start with replacing the battery. It has been a wbile since i have had a g3 but this was a common issue. The batteries were known to bassicly just keel out
The solution is a simple one.
1 remove battery
2 connect charging cable (I am not kidding)
3 power in the phone
4 the phone will try to boot
5 it will fail to boot or maybe it will boot
6 insert battery while the charging cable is still attached
7 power the phone
8 the phone will boot and show 100% battery
9 reboot phone
The next video shows my phone working without the battery...

I have recently purchased the A50 and love it. However, this morning I woke up late for work as my phone had switched off during its overnight charge. There was no way to turn it back on until at least 10 minutes after taking it off charge and frantically running to work. Once the phone was on, it had 100% battery.
Does anyone have any idea why this happened? Could it be an overheating issue?
This has never happened to any other phone I've owned.
I have been charging with the cable the A50 comes with but with the S7 plug. Could that be the culprit?
If that's the case I will just use the A50 plug itself.
I have looked everywhere for an answer. This only happened today and may never happen again but I would like to know other people's opinions.
Don't know why this happened, bug somewhere, software update, don't know, but do you really need to leave the phone on an overnight charge,
The treakle charge at 100% is known to cause heating issues, and I hear the a50 is not the most durable phone,.
Strange that it would just turn the phone off completely

To be honest, it could have been as simple as electric fluctuation. I have no idea.
I didn't charge last night as I as slightly reluctant to do so.
So far, the phone is working flawlessly and hasn't restarted or shut off on its own. I will eventually charge it once the power drops to almost 0.
Will update so as to let everyone know in case there are similar issues out there.

sounds like a bad battery in the phone, you should return it. i left it for overnight charging(forgot to remove it) and nothing happened.

When it happened to me it was the second time I had charged over night, the first time was fine.
I haven't done it since and so far the phone has been fine.
During Update my phone A50, I just press Power button+Vol down button together. After that my phone was off and can not on till now. I tried to press vol up + power button together but it did not work. Can you please Help.
My Samsung A50 just went off by itself after power went off and has refused to come up. Truth is i have charged it several times using this same power and i can tell power is almost stable except that i am using a different charger head to charge for some time now. Wont sill come up, any help or suggestion?
We have several of these A50's and up to now we had 3 of them with this problem.
At the moment that it refuses to turn back on i noticed that the back of the phone is warm , between the top of the phone and the word SAMSUNG . The rest of the phone is cold.
I left the phone alone for about 4 hours without power cable plugged in , after those 4 hours i plugged it in and after a minute it started charging with a indicator of 0% .
You can also try a forced reboot ( hold volume up and down + power button for 5 sec )
Did anyone manage to solve this issue? My girlfriend's A50 has shut down twice overnight now, and the only way to turn it on is by pressing power and volume down for 10 seconds. She has the May update.
Same issue here, i reset my phone to factory settings then install all of my applications and since do that, the issue doesn't occurs any more till now (1 week)
Same here!
Same situation here!
It turned off during the night 3 times now!!
I was late to work The first time, now I have to activate the alarm on my wife's phone, because I don't trust this one anymore.
To turn it back on, you don't need to wait 4 hours, you just have to press power and volume down.
Samsung has to do something about this!

That doesn't sound like it's actually turning off. More like it gets stuck with screen off and you're making a forced reboot with the button combination.

Yeah that might actually be the case, and it's completely hung since alarms won't go off. Apparently it does not seem like an isolated case so I guess we'll see what the store says.
Same situation at my A50 to. No notifications,no reaction, no alarm, no reacttion after simple power button press, only black display. It get alive only with described buttons combination-power+vol up .
The problem occure only after night charging time, in the morning.
I was advised not to leave on charge overnight. I have just got this phone and was asking live chat about something else and she mentioned new smart phones did not require full overnight charges and unplug as soon as it’s finished charging.. also that fully discharging battery to 0% is not recommended either and should be charged around 20% to increase the life of the battery. I think I will try that advice. Always had Samsung phones and been happy with my S5 for many years..but it’s very outdated and decided on upgrade but can’t justify the price of S10 lol.
So after doing some searching I could not find an answer.
A few weeks ago my Pixel XL shutoff as the battery was low. I plugged it in for the night and didnt look at it agin untill the morning. After being charged all night the phone would not respond. No load screen, no vibration (might have one time), nothing.
Holding down the power and volume down buttons does nothing with the screen but does cycle the phone being seen by the computer when connected via usb.
Phone had updated to Android 10, testing has shown battery is good and accepts a charge, and another screen was tried but still no change.
What are my options?

I know this old but for some reason the 128gb models seem to be corrupting the internal storage and making essentially useless without very specific files that Google doesn't provide.

My OG Pixel XL randomly died in the middle of the day, >50% battery left. Wouldn't turn on. What I did was hold the power button for a reeeeeeeeally long time -- it felt like it was close to a full minute. And it booted up like normal...so maybe give that a try.
