It appears the official Nougat update for the VZW S7/S7 Edge has been spotted out in the open.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...7-edge-now-receiving-official-nougat-updates/
I'm going to wait and see how it goes before accepting it. So far, checking for an update, I am still told that my MM phone is up-to-date, so it hasn't been pushed out to my IMEI range yet apparently.
Here's a couple more articles about it being released starting today, and probably to the beta testers first:

Not available for mine yet either. I am curious, are you running the Nougat Beta? I am, FYI.

He said his Marshmallow phone is up to date, so he's not on the beta.
---------- Post added at 09:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 AM ----------
I wonder if this only works for people on the official Nougat beta and not just the users that updated via update.zip. I was the official Nougat beta tester that uploaded the update zips for you guys. I'm currently on the U-firmware, but I could flash back to Verizon and check if enough people are interested. Then I could pull the Official update.zip again, and upload that as well.

YES! That would be great, thank you. My concern is that we will be passed up on the official update because we took this Beta. Thanks!!
Their official update page shows the update as the most current release, and with today's date.
i dont see any confirmation anywhere that it was released, only that they updated the update page on the website. but at least is shows release is imminent.

No, I'm not. I don't do anything with my phone if it isn't official and I wasn't part of the beta program. I would assume even beta users should get an update, although it might be a tad bit different than those of us still on official Marshmallow. That or you might have to flash back to the official Marshmallow before you can get the update. I have seen that happen on other phones where I was a beta tester, so I'm not sure how it will work with the S7s.
From what I recall hearing, the official beta testers will be updated to the official Nougat first. The issue is that most of the people using the beta are not official beta testers. They updated using my zips. I'll flash to Verizon at some point today and see if there is a newer release.

I updated using your zips and I am currently pulling down an OTA after checking for system updates.
I have a SM-G930U flashed to the SM-G930V and am getting the Verizon Nougat update right now.
I updated to beta using the zip as well. Just got my OTA for official!
I am on the PKC update from these forums and get the notification of the update. Keep getting a download unsuccessful error. Not sure if it is because I am not on WiFi

I'm also on PKC, but I flashed it myself. I've tried both data and wifi; keeps saying Download Unsuccessful, error code: 400. Also unsuccessful after restarting and powering off.

EDIT: Wiping cache from Recovery solved my problem. Downloading now.
I got the beta here and am installing official nougat now. I have done a factory reset since flashing the beta. Perhaps doing a factory reset (but still remaining on beta) would clear you for the OTA? (Of course, back everything up before doing so.) I could also be totally wrong on resetting to get the OTA. Just a theory.
Updated to Nougat and so far, pretty darned good. No glaring issues. Only issue I have is in The Walking Dead: No Man's Land where all my player's portraits are dark as if no lighting was used. It wasn't this way under MM. I have noticed people with screen shots from the game with the same issue, so it might be an issue with the game itself.
UPDATE: The reason was the app cache. I just had to go to the TWD:NML app data and clear out the cache and all was good!

I have a 930U as well that I flashed to 930V. Does your Video Calling work? I activated Advanced Calling and HD Voice works but Video Calling does not. The option in my settings has the "HD Voice and Video Calling" option shaded out so I can't select it. I can only select "HD Voice only" so that's all that works. Do I need to call Verizon to try and fix this or is it a limitation from getting a 930U?
Could anyone confirm if you can enlarge others profile picture on LINE? I tried on the beta before and couldn't do it. Thanks in advance.
Can someone upload the OTA update to a mirror?
Is there anyway I can temporarily go back to Marshmallow on an unrooted stock Verizon GS7 edge? I did not anticipate that my encrypted SD Card would be mostly unreadable when updated to Nougat.
After choosing "Decrypt SD Card" in options, it runs a "Checking SD Card" loading screen. I left this for about 4 hours while I was busy, but it did not appear to make any progress when I returned. I will try again overnight.
However, after this I can use Solid Explorer to navigate to the SD Card, and see all my files, but cannot open them.
Thanks for any help even if that means telling me those files are unencryptable and I should just bite the bullet and reformat.
I got tired of hitting check for update and getting nothing. I used a VPN inside the usa on wifi and got the ota immediately.
So I am having the issue posted in my pics. I am not part of beta. I am Verizon on September patch. Never touched my sim since I got device. Bootloader is unlocked but that shouldn't matter. Anyway if someone can help me figure out according to the screenshots why I can't update it would be greatly appreciated.

I got the same problem as well. I'm on Verizon and haven't found a fix.
I've got a Google Play Pixel XL on Verizon, no problem with update. Full stock locked bootloader.

I don't understand how you got the OTA so quick. Even with Google saying last month that doing a check for update manually should now get you OTAs instantly, it's not working on my stock bootloader unlocked XL.
Same here.. got the OTA October Android 8.0 Oreo Security Patch without a hiccup... I also have a locked bootloader as well on Verizon Pixel XL version. Really wish these bootloaders could be unlocked but that's another topic that has been saturated to death... lol.
Damn that sucks for you guys that aren't getting it instantly. Checking for update seems to work for me. But try clearing your Google play services app and then see if it will let you download the update you guys.

No need, hes going to brake GPServices and get bunch of force closes.
The check for updates now works on demand when you press it. This has already been confirmed by bunch of folks, and even myself when i did on my wife's phone.

Wish I could. I am out of town working till the weekend.
Google Pixel XL unlocked bootloader and update failing to install. Showing me update size of 50.6 MB.
Will try and patch manually.
I have a Verizon Pixel XL on T-Mobile and i got the October 5th patch yesterday without issue. It took a while for only 64.5mb, but it took it. I did have 1 random reboot this morning though.... BTW, like i said, i took the update with a TMO SIM and still have gray OEM Unlocking
I had the same error. I disabled Block This! and it installed without problems.

Still waiting for my OTA Oct 5 update. I am complete stock, locked bootloader (never unlocked or rooted). Damn Check for update button not working for me.
So I tried flashing the September patch to both slots manually and taking the OTA but it failed still. So I went ahead and manually flashed the October patch.
I am wondering if it has to do with me upping to Unlimited Data plan on Verizon.
I just checked for an OTA update manually and nothing showed up. I'm still on September patch. Google edition, locked bootloader and not rooted.

It was enrolled in the beta program. I just checked. I unenrolled it but since I'm already on the stable build it didn't send me an OTA so I won't have to wipe the phone. I'll go check for an update again and see what happens now that I unenrolled the phone.

I didn't think about the beta program - that would sort of make since as to the cause of not getting latest October OTA. Please let us know if you get it now when you do a manual check for update.
Hi!
I used my G5s for roughly 1 week now with the stock 7.1.1. I just unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP and rooted it.
Today i installed an OTA update which results in a bootloop... Well, it boots into TWRP, but i am not able to get into the normal boot...
Anyone got the same problems? I'm quite desperate atm and dont know how to resolve/debug it.
Flashing the stock rom is the absolute very last thing i am considering.
it's because you're root, you have to flash the rom stock.
the cmd gpt.bin will probably not pass, it is serious go to the next.
Seriously? I now have to decide between no OTA updates with root or OTA update with no root? Thats crappy!
Well, at least i do seem to have found a workaround.
Power on -> TWRP -> bootloader -> start normal
That works...
Alright, so i will not apply any update without before LOS arrives for the G5s
I'm a bit disappointed by this update because they added LinkedIn app as system app and "forgot" to mention that in changelog; I bought this phone because bloatware was minimal and now thay started to add unrequested app to system
Yeah Lenovo isn't Motorola ...
Since my G5s is still running with the android security patches dated to june 1st 2017, i feel like it really need an update. LOS is not available, so OTA is the way to go.
Does anybody know a way to bypass/resolve the gpt.bin problem mentioned above when OTA-updating a rooted G5s?
To be honest, my workaround to resolve the boot issue (see startpost) would be fine for me. But i am afraid that another OTA update makes matters worse...

Backup important stuff and format your phone and check whether issues are solved generally happens after major updates.
Give it couple of days to settle and check whether the issues still exists.
Really?

I'm glad I did not become a B-Tester.
I hope for the sake of Warranty or Selling it due to lack of Development.. That this issue corrects itself for you when the Completed Firmware rolls out later this year.

Soooo.....I just bought this phone, unlocked the bootloader and installed Magisk.
Today, I got a system update notification saying Android Pie is ready to download.
Anybody else getting this and if so, I have to go back to 100% stock in order to upgrade right? Then unlock BL again?
Mine isn't showing the update yet. I've got the TA-1068. Not unlocked or anything.
It is possible someone jumped the gun, releasing it too early, and they pulled it so can't download it.
Not yet available on my nokia 6.1. I think we are a couple of weeks away from the update.

What security update level of android 8.1 are you on?
Good luck getting 100% back to stock.
I have a TA-1045 and I unlocked the bootloader and installed Magisk on the July patch of android 8.1. I get update prompts for the August security update, but the update won't install. I tried completely removing Magisk, but it stills fails with "Installation Failed". I don't think anyone has a stock recovery image (at least for TA-1045) to restore
At this point if you flash twrp/magisk you have no way of restoring to stock and accepting OTA updates. You will be stuck on the update you are on until someone figures out a way to take OTA updates or someone gets a hold of stock firmware images for your device (none yet for TA-1045)

Nope - don't think its Chinse - it appears to be a "global" or international version. I don't really notice a difference from my original stock.
I got it from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...-to-flash-global-firmware-pl2-222e-0-t3831764
And was able to flash the "extracted version" with fastboot. I used some fastboot instructions that I found for a chinese rom and changed the filenames to match the worldwide filenames and it worked without the OST tool

I guess this OTA is a fake. No one with a Nokia 6.1 has reported getting an Android Pie notification. It's super rare that just one single person will get it.

This. Unless OP is an insider and just dun goof'd, then I fail to see this as legit.
Slightly off-topic:
I was on the June security patch on my 6.1 until yesterday. I received an OTA notification while half asleep and got all excited thinking it was the Pie update, but no, it was the July security patch. What's interesting is that immediately after installing I received the notification for the August security patch, and promptly installed that. May just be me being lucky, but that almost imples that HMD are trying to push out the latest security updates to devices as a way of preparing for Pie maybe?
