Has anyone received their April Security update yet for their unlocked S9 (G960U1)? It appears the carriers have rolled them out here in the US, but the unlocked version has yet to receive it.

I second this request. I also have an unlocked s9 purchased directly from Samsung and I'm still on the February security patch. Only difference is I'm in Canada and my phone is a G960w.
I still haven't received anything on my UNlocked S9
Hope to get an update that will make the FM radio function. All the carrier versions have it unlocked.
Got the April security update yesterday, i have a unlocked s9 from australia. Hopefully they did some battery tweaks too.
Looks like I won't be getting a security update for my unlocked 960w until sometime in May. Kind of ****ty considering my old A5 received the April security patch a week ago. I must say I'm pretty disappointed thus far with the support I've gotten with Sammy's flagship.
It's now May (5-1-18) and my unlocked s9 is still on the February (2-1-18) security. Can I get a refund from Samsung? Really, can I return my phone due to a breach of contract? Any lawyers here?
April patch and SABS
Can anyone verify if SABS is still working with the April security patch?
What's up with this lack of update (Sprint).

Which firmware is on March security update?
The newest Canadian firmware is ARC1 from Telus and it's still on February. I see the latest U1 firmware is still ARBG (which was released at the same time) but I didn't know it had March security.
If you can confirm I'll flash over to U1 this afternoon ?
Thanks in advance

I have the March update but the Feb security patch... is that the way it should be?
If not what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Still on ARBG here in the USA un locked S9
I see many post about other countries getting an up-date. Guess they forgot about the USA.

Figures..... luck of Bob
It's the same here in Canada with the W varient. I guess it's an issue with the snapdragon version of the firmware.
Halfway through May and still on the February security patch.
Flash over to the 960U firmware, there's no reason not to from what I can tell.
Running on my 960w for a few days now and everything is good. Only downside is you're stuck here until the U1/W catch up.

Out of curiosity, what contract are you referring to? I didn't have to sign a contract to get my S9; just pressed "buy" on Amazon.
What has Samsung breached? We voted with our wallets for Samsung to keep bending us over and ****ing us when it comes to updates; I've been an S7 and S8 owner too. I knew what I was getting into. Kind of hoped that Project Treble would make updates easier, but Samsung is apparently completely incompetent at anything software related. Someone needs to buy their lead dev a "baby's first guide to programming" booklet for whatever the next Korean gift-giving holiday is.

I'm hoping feb 9th. My birthday lol. I've tried every ROM out there and they're all excellent, but I just can't deal with the camera. I need shutter speed and iso adjustments so pictures of things like the moon look like what we see rather than a random white dot. I haven't been able to find any ROM that does it better than a stock variant with Moto camera in professional mode, so I'm stuck on Nougat until Lenovotorola gets off their butts and gives us Oreo.
Just recieved today November patch, lol, XT1680 retar channel. Just Wondering why I was at compilation NPNS25.137-15-11 and now is NPN25.137-97.

It looks like oreo is closer.. end of january or start of february probably.. unless lenovo screw up again

This security patch changelog was up since november, so there is no reason for us not to get oreo, i mean it is probably outdated.
Can anyone with XT1686 (Indian variant) post a screenshot of the build number of the latest January update?

Does anyone know why my g5 plus hasn't been updated in so long,
It says software channel retgb and I'm still on 1st august security patch, honestly this is making me want to go back to iPhone, that's getting on for 5 months out of date for basic security.
retgb here also, security is only an issue if you use phone unwisely, in locations wifi you cannot trust, apps installed from unknown sources or dodgy websites, if not doing any of the above you should be fine.
There is only so much security you can build into any OS, the rest is down to you.

No, this is the last Motorola I will own, my partner's s8 has had about 6 updates in that time.
I've got a T-Mobile S9 that I'd like to convert to unlocked so that I can get Android security updates directly from Samsung...I'm guessing that there are two steps to this:
1. Get the phone unlocked from T-Mobile carrier.
2. Flash an unlocked firmware image on my phone.
Which raises some questions. First off, if I do this, will I start getting security updates directly from Samsung? Is there anything additional that I need to do to get this started?
My next question is where can I find an image for the unlocked Samsung S9 firmware that I can flash? Is there a procedure for doing this somewhere? I've been looking around and haven't found anything relevant. So I obviously haven't looked in the right place yet *smile*.
I expect that my next step is to look at the postings for the Samsung S8 and see what's there for that. That might give me an idea of what's out there and what I can expect if I do this.
Thanks for any help.

My Exynos 960FD is currently on the march security patch, and its the latest version (it did a update today for better stability while calling and higher quality wallpapers).
So I just got the G965U1UEU3ARK5 update OTA. Just became available for me. It only says "improved security", and the link it gives to the change log only shows the previous update. Anyone know of the actual changes?
Is yours an unlocked phone? I have not received a December update yet on my T-Mobile S9.

December Security update, that's it.
I got the same update, but it says it's the November security patch. I already had the November patch that came in mid November. I thought maybe this was the December patch that was dated incorrectly. This is on an unlocked device in the US.
Hey guys I have samsung galaxy s9 but I can't update to july update as it says it up to date. But I went through setting and saw that I have June's security patch. Any solution?

the updates are released by ESN and every carrier has their own specific releases. If you put your build number in a reply, we can help you find the latest release for your phone. If its been released, it should be hitting your device soon, if it isnt, then youll know that your wait is going to be longer than that. Or you could just go get the latest release from sammobile and flash it yourself with Odin

Hi, I just got my g8 from a swappa seller a couple days ago, LM-G820QM which I gather is the unlocked version (after calling lg to verify the imei is what it was advertised as and not just a random carrier unlocked phone). I saw on some threads here that people have up to sept/october updates on their carrier locked phones. Im curious as to what security patch your phones are on and what version the phone is. Im a bit surprised that I am still stuck on the april update with being carrier unlocked
Probably your G8 is the Amazon unlocked version which is the worst in updates
Mine is T-mobile version and I just received October security patch

I checked all system packages and apps and no traces of any amazon apps so I am a bit skeptical that I would have that version considering amazon makes their apps part of the system package. I figured having an unlocked non carrier version would be faster with updates than carriers but apparently not, no idea what lg is doing here :/

I can't find any LG firmware website that actually has any firmware for the LG G8 LMQ710ULM (amazon) model. If you know of a place that has it please let me know.
FYI I'm still on April 2019 security patch...the update situation is just retarded on this phone
I'm also on APRIL 1, 2019 security update. Unlocked US version purchased at Best Buy. It appears only the carrier versions of this phone have received any updates.
I ended up returning the phone because of this issue. Its really mind boggling how carrier phones get updates but unlocked does not and especially from a 'big name' company like LG.. Maybe things have changed since I last modded phones a few years ago (just before a/b updates became a thing) but I thought the manufacturer had to make an update(which unlocked can use and get directly), then pushes it to carriers to add their bloa-.. apps* and then it goes to carrier phones. This was the reason why we had issues and delays with carrier updates in the first place. Regardless I wish you guys luck with future updates if they ever decide to push.
Just to also clarify on a previous comment, I have checked all g8 thinq models that end in QM (the unlocked versions) on their support page and the only firmware listed is april. Even connecting lg bridge does nothing with updates since nothing has actually been released by lg . _.

The Amazon G8 is the LM-G820QM, not the LMQ710ULM (not even a G8, or any of the G series model number), all G8's are LM-G820 with the specific variant added to the end (TM for T-Mobile, etc) the LMQ710ULM is the LG Stylo 4. If you're looking for firmware for that phone you might want to try looking in the right forum

LM-G820QM is also the non-Amazon version of the G8. Oddly enough Amazon G8 users are reporting updates, but I still don't have an updated for the non-Amazon LM-G820QM.
Finally got a security update! Wow, took long enough!
Android 10 Is HERE, LG G8 820QM Amazon Version
Android 10 is here! Yesterday 24/02/2020 Amazon has released the Android 10 Stable update for the LG G8 820QM, there are stability improvements, camera improvements and overall device fluency!
^ android 10 also breaks themes, adds a hideous unremovable "frequent apps" dock on recent apps screen, broke some nova actions, etc.
I recommend everyone having trouble with updates to go to the LG website and download "LG Bridge". install usb drivers plug it in and go to software update and see if it finds anything. I literally searched for android 10 update via FOTA 2 minutes before trying on LG Bridge and it found nothing, LG Bridge hooked me up in about 3 minutes, running android 10 now.
Unfortunately here 28.02.2020 still no update via OTA or LG Bridge.
But I use my LM-G820QM in Germany! According to LG Support, I don't get any updates or support here!
I have no idea how to do the update!
Best regards Uli from Sachsen / Germany
