help with htc onem8 battery boot up - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi developers
my htc m8 having battery problem
its charging on the original charger until 100% then when i remove the charger its work for less than 30 seconds then shutdown and when i boot up its just give the first HTC boot screen then off again(its cant boot up) BUT when i connected with charger its boot and when i remove the charger its give the same scenario again
i try to format and put another rom but still same problem
i try to charge by another charger and another cable but still same problem
i try the volume up and down +power for 2 mints but still same problem
and when i go to recovery (my recovery is TWRP 3.2.1-0 with lineage 15.1 rom) of course with plugging the charger to boot up still same problem when i remove the charger for approximately 30 sec
i cleaned the charger connector from any dirt
i dont wont to by a new battery and the problem will be from another thing (i want to be sure that the battery is the problem before i buy it COZ its expensive in my country)
please some body help to know what is the problem ?

So if you keep the charger connected, it stays in OS (as long as the charger is still connected)?
Restore to full stock with RUU (if one is available for your version M8) and if the battery troubles still persist, I have to assume it is a battery of other hardware problem.

heloo
thanks for replying
i open the device and remove the battery then i buy a new one and when I Connect it every thing goes fine and perfect

bricked one x

usual story.
got an htc one x. flashed unlocked all going well. installed a bad rom (did not make a back up)
froze at splash screen. only late last night i found disaster recovery, so i put it to download and shut off the phone. boot back up this evening and tried to install recovery re-lock bootloader, clear cashe etc but. i got a low battery warning when trying to flash.
i didn't have the latest clockwork mod for charging installed; and battery is too low to flash to it.
this is where things get different. i used the boot loader to power down. i plugged it in to the wall to charge and i got this strange flashing red led(not orange) after about an hour it went solid red. had it charging from the wall socket for well over 4 hours now with the solid red led.
then all of a sudden the led starts to flash red again. so i disconnect the phone and try to boot.... nothing happens. try bootloader mode(power + vol.dwn) nothing.
i had to hold the two buttons then plug in the wall charger. then it went into bootloader. problem is it says relocked AND security warning....... and still after all that time charging. i still get low battery warning @ flash.
so i tried to turn off the device again using the power down option. two things happen here. 1)if the charger is in the screen goes black and instantly restarts to fastboot usb menu. 2)if it isnt in it will turn off and wont turn back on (splash screen or bootloader) until the charger is back in.
so what ive done as of now is plug it in to charge over night and hope this thread can shed some light.

os version: 1.28.707.10
clockwork mod version: 5.8.2.7
plz any help would be invaluable
EDIT: just turned on phone about ten minutes after i plugged it back in to the charger (held power button alone) splash screen is back (yay!!) but still battery low when trying to flash in
fastboot usb. ima try in the morning after a full night to the charger. fingers crossed
good luck to you and your phone. i was afraid of these things too, so before i started to do anything, i saved some roms onto my virtual sd card, just to be sure if i get stuck without a operation OS, i still have some roms on my memory. and before starting with anything, i charged my phone up to 95%.
sorry, i can not help you and i guess you have to wait for a solution.

[Q] Phone off plug charger and goes to recovery mode

Hello Guys
I have a desire z that im not using atm and I give to my friend for her to use it, but she give it back to me because some problems
If the phone is on and have battery would charge for something like 1 minute and not charge any more
If i switch off the phone and plug the charger would after a minute turn on and go straight to CW recovery
if i don't do anything would switch off and start the cycle of charging for a minute and boot in CW recovery
even if i select turn off from there would turn off and would go to CW again
somehow the other day the phone started to charge, as soon as it was 100%
I format partition / clear cache / and flash again on a new rom (some sweet JB one Jb baby or i think is called )
the phone was working fine i let it drain the battery normally
When i tried to charge again would not allow me to charge for more than a minute
I switched off and when i plugged the charger when to CW recovery again
ok today after many switch off and stuffs is charging again.
Is not the charger is the same charger i use everyday for my phone and is working fine
(also i tried with others too )
any idea what can be? im not feeling like say to my friend , ok everytime you want to charge do random stuff until it does
many thanks
I would look into a new battery from what you saying.
The boot to recovery was a common issue with old clockwork recoveries
But stopping charge after a minuet sounds like the circuit in your battery is about dead
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I had the same problem on ClockworkMod Recovery. I changed recovery to 4EXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9 and my problem disappeared
Thanks for you answer
A new battery had no problem to be charged until 100% and im testing how it works
seems like the problem is a bad battery at the end.
also thanks for the recovery tip I am using the 4EXT and the problem is gone.

[Q]HTC M8 only boots to cwm recovery and won't hold charge

Hi all,
A couple of days ago my verizon htc m8 would randomly have car mode or dock mode activated by itself. Additionally, it would turn to usb host mode so I could not charge it without charging while off for 10 mins, holding all buttons for 2 mins, and then releasing. Currently, my m8 will not hold a charge and will only turn on to cwm recovery when i plug it in with a charger or to my computer (but stays at 0%). I initially followed the instructions in this thread and changed philz touch to 6.26 but it still won't boot out of cwm recover. One time it did boot to the red verizon logo sign but then it went back into cwm. I'm kind of at a loss here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Sounds like you may have a damaged USB port. Not sure if the failure to boot is related, but I'm also not sure you can fix that, if the phone won't charge.

[Q] Unable to boot into phone

I have this problem for quite a while now. I had Lineage OS installed in my phone for about 6 months and suddenly , one day when I tried booting into it , it failed. The HTC logo appeared but then the phone shut down , it would boot if I plug the charger in. I took it to HTC service center , to get it checked. They told that it might be caused by faulty battery. I took it to a shop nearby to get the battery replaced , but replacing the battery did not work. The shopman told me that the phone is rooted , and they told me that they will lock it. After they did , now I am unable to boot at all. I unlocked the bootloader again , and when I try to open recovery (TWRP) it just shutsdown again. I will get the battery charging screen. If I press the lock screen , I can see a bit of twrp but I'm unable to operate it. I then flashed CWM , it works , but I have no idea what to do next. I only had TWRP backups , which unfortunately do not work any longer.
I have a5_dwg.

try to install twrp 3.0.0, probably from adb shell over the USB cable, in cwm recovery.
that should sort it out. hopefully. then you can try restoring a backup and see if switching the battery actually made any difference or not.
Unable to boot into phone
I have the same problem with me but i have twrp installed(3.0.0) and stock rom and bootloader unlocked. When i install lineage os in it it boots but only when charger is connected whereas when i restore my stock rom back up it couldn't boot into it reboots again and again...

Try wiping data with the stock backup to see if it'll boot. I had an evo3d with some internal glitch that would from time to time bootloop stock until I wiped data then it would start up again.
Sounds like your battery might be weak, ROMs like to shut down if they think the battery is too low.
Having the same problem right now, confused whether I should replace the battery or not, right now plugged into a charger, phone is fully charged nd removing the charger phone turns off.

Why did you make two threads, exactly the same, except the title?
