Updating individual apps / through software update? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

How do you guys do it?
I keep seeing new versions being posted on APK mirror and the Galaxy Apps being lazy.

[APKs][NEWER-THAN-MARKET] Google+, Wallet, Play Store, Play Apps, YouTube, & more

Along with the system apps that are making the rounds, there are some other updated Google apps that were made public with the system dump. These are all newer than the Play Store versions currently available. If you notice any changes, feel free to share; I don't use all these regularly so I haven't dug around much. I tested them all at least for installation and basic functionality on both a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and a Kindle Fire running Gingerbread 2.3, so they should work universally. They haven't been modded or themed, just pulled straight from the Nexus 4 system dump.
Currents ~ version 1.5.4 - confirmed working
YouTube ~ version 4.1.23A - confirmed working
Google Wallet ~ version 1.5-R87-v15 - confirmed working
Google Plus ~ version 3.2.1.36562030 - confirmed working
Google Play Books ~ version 2.6.41 - confirmed working
Google Play Magazines ~ version 1.1.1 - confirmed working as much as I can test with buying a magazine
Google Play TV & Movies ~ version 2.2.2 - partially working, can't access Play Store content
Google Play Music ~ version 4.3.614.517167 - confirmed working, but actually lower version number than Play Store
The Wallet.apk zip file is NOT flashable, it is only zipped because it is too large to upload as an apk. Extract the apk and install. The other apps can be installed without any special instructions or ceremony.
Google Play Store ~ version 3.9.17 - confirmed working
The new Play Store will need to be pushed to system/app. Delete or rename the existing Phonesky.apk or Vending.apk, however it's named in your ROM build. Set permissions to rw- r-- r--.

How did you get cna 4.1.2 on your toro? I went to their website and I can only find 3.8.0 which is what I'm running. Any chance of a link for 4.1.2 please. And thank you for these updated apps.

I think what he meant with 4.1.2 is the android (AOSP) version cna is currently building wi ..... 3.8.0 is just a number that cna uses for their builds.

yes, i was just giving a brief description of what device i confirmed the apps to work on, since people always ask. sorry for the confusion, it is CNA 3.8.0 which is the 4.1.2 build. i also installed most of these on my old kindle fire, so there shouldn't be any compatibility issues anyway.
Anything new with the Play Music app? Anything changed?

[Q] How to undo an app update?

i see a lot of people are having trouble with the most recent update of Handcent SMS, myself included. basically what i am wondering is if i can somehow undo this update and rollback to a previous version. the current version is 4.6.1 and the one i would like to go back to is 4.5.
Thanks!

See if you can find that version on Google
You can't undo an app update, however you can uninstall the app, search for it's apk version on Google and install it. But then it won't be linked to the Play Store and you won't receive updates for it. For example, you can find the 4.5 apk here (link is after the overview section). The only reason I'm providing you a link to download is because it's a free app. Links to apks of paid apps must never be provided.

Google Play 4.6.16 *NEW*

As you'll probably be aware, Google have just started rolling out the 4.0.25 update for Google Play.
They are now rolling out the 4.0.26 update which is just a minor update for bug fixes.
4.0.27 is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/3qM
v4.1.6 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/FkV
Changelog :
* Change in open and uninstall button.
* Wishlist UI has changed from list to card style.
* Menu buttons for items list the price next to "buy"
* Update all works for apps with new permission.A popup shows the new permissions.
* The button on install menu says update all evenif you have only one app to update.
* Brings App Data cloud sync.
* Settings is light themed instead of dark themed.
v4.1.10 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/wvO
There doesn't seem to be a Changelog posted anywhere so I guess this is just bug fixes.
v4.2.3 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/Vp3
Again, there's no changelog available but Android Police posted the following:
I've looked through it, and from what I can tell, it has some sort of additions related to the new functionality for restricting user access to Google Play. I suspect this is used in multi-user situations, where the primary user doesn't want secondary ones to be able to install things, but I haven't been able to confirm it just yet on the Nexus 7. Maybe there is a new menu that shows up in Android 4.3...
Another theory proposed by commenter Markus is that it's possible that this new functionality is meant for restricting Play Store's usage on devices that aren't licensed to use it and don't come with it pre-installed, which would... suck, though I don't see how Google could enforce it.

v4.2.9 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/D2N
No major changes here either. See below:
4.2.9 seems to be an even more minor release, with several new image assets, a few new strings, and supposedly some minimal UI changes to the widgets.

v4.3.10 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/u38
Changelog:
*Recently Updated section - Helps to find recently updated apps without looking throughout the entire list.
*Combined update notifications - A single notification for multiple updates rather than a separate notification for each update.
*Book sales show full list prices - Now shows previous prices aswell as the current price.
*Buy and Rent buttons for Movies have swapped position.
*Wallet logo removes from next to Rent and Buy buttons.
v4.3.11 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/CWt
There's been no Changelog posted so I guess this update is for those who experienced the "Package file is invalid" error. I'm not 100% sure about that though as I didn't have any problems.
If the error still exists or you notice anything new, let me know and I'll update this accordingly
v4.4.21 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/7qs
Once again, I've not seen a changelog posted yet so I can't tell fully what has been changed. However, as you can see from the attached screenshot, sliding navigation has been implemented. If I find out about any other changes I'll add them to this post. Please let me know if you find any other changes aswell
v4.4.22 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/7TS
All that appears to be new this time around is some updated translations and some code changes relating to auto-updating of apps.
v4.6.16 of the Google Play Store is now available and can be downloaded from the link below.
Download here - http://d-h.st/AAd
Changelog: Batch install in My Apps > All tab, Removing apps from My apps -> All no longer jumps to the top of the list, new Require Password options, Settings and Help moved to slide out nav, Confusing Auto-add widgets setting renamed, Play Store self update added, IAPs now included in the App permissions screen, Google+ +1 counts are now exact for large quantities, continuous security verification and finally, tweaked styles.

No because my Nexus 7 didn't have it until I installed this and my brothers S3 on 4.2.1 got the 4.0.25 OTA.
I'm not sure how they're rolling it out to be honest.

[Q] Noob question regarding gapps

So, some versions of gapps seem to be compatible with ART, and others are not. I'm wondering: if I find a gapps build (example: pa_gapps from 11/11/13) that is originally compatible with ART, is it safe to update my apps from the google play store after I load up art? Or am I supposed to keep all my apps the same?
In other words, does updating my apps in the app store change the version/compatibility of the gapps I flash with a rom? Is having the latest gapps build the same as having the most updated version of the apps from the google play store?
I hope I'm making sense :cyclops:

Any stock/AOSP/Google Dialler (lollipop) apps for Galaxy Grand Prime?

As the title would say, are there any lollipop dialler APKs or something? I can't install it from Google Play since it's not compatible with my version and i don't want to install apps such as KK Dialler or ExDialer :-\ I also searched for APKs but can't find any version that fits my phone's OS (Android 5.0.2, API 21). The reason why I am asking for this is simply because I hate Lagwiz- i mean Touchwiz, and I am replacing original apps one by one (disabling them with root access). But i simply can't find Google dialler (looking for version 2.0 because that's for 5.0 lollipop), so I have thought to ask around here
I hope people with similar issues will find this thread to discuss about this... You can also give me a flashable zip but with some detailed instructions since I have little to no experience with flashing zip files (never did it).
Anyways thank you in advance... :good:
