Firstly, Nitro HD is low end already. Take note of it. It is single cored(If im not wrong), and also, its already 2 years old.
And buying it is up to you. If you want it as a spare phone, which it is preferably one.

First off yes its 1 1/2 years old but has never been low end. It is one if not the most powerful phone made in the Nov '11 - April '12 time frame. Secondly the Snapdragon DUAL CORE WITH ADRENO DUAL CORE graphics was also one of the most powerful made that was only surpassed by the newer quad core processors this phone is no slouch. The software platform is very mature and has a great developing community. If you want the latest and greatest look elsewhere but be depending on what money you spend you will have quite a beast on your hands.
IMO

If you are talking about unlocking the sim, that can only be done with a stock ROM. You can root stock ICS with ease but if you want root AND a custom recovery then you need to use the unbricking guide due to the ICS boot loader being locked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645
This guide works best on a win xp computer. However if you have win 7 there is help within the pages of that guide that can provide that help. Good luck.

Root and install a custom recovery so you can install a custom ROM. Like I said before sim unlocking can only be done on a stock ROM. To unlock go to settings, security then sim lock.
Edit sorry man thinking of something else. To unlock the sim so you can use it on a different network go to your phone dialer and out in the following code:
2945#*930#
Then select network
And input your unlock code (you only get 10 attempts before your phone is locked for good)

I think unless you were to go through the unbricking guide again. But I have never done it so I am not 100%. But I do know it has to be done from a stock ROM as the custom ROMs like cyanogen and miui do not have that capability. But as long as you are just installing ROMs through cwm you shouldn't have to unlock again.

compared to what? it has better specs than dozens of phones that came out after it with a cheaper price tag
almost every major dev team supports this phone, there is a reason for that those people are the experts that should tell you enough.
Hi im new to the nexus scene and i have some questions so pls help me if you can:
1.Can my nexus 7 32gb wifi only edition bought from america get updates when i bring it home to europe?
2.Is rooting a nexus device really worth it? because i want to keep stock rom because its stable and the only thing im changing is the kernel.
or flash stock images if they can be installed with a custom kernel.
3. Also can i root it if i update it to the latest update (Current version is JWR66N)

May I ask something as well?
For a nexus, flashing a custom kernel requires root or unlock bootloader?
What is the use of unlock bootloader on a nexus device?
I came from a sony phone and that require unlocking bootloader to install custom kernel..not so sure about nexus.

Well you need to unlock your bootloader in order to root. I think you do need to unlock. But unlocking the bootloader is super easy so I don't see a reason not to.

BE CAREFUL of updates. Newer updates change the touchscreen driver!
If the touchscreen is working perfectly out of the box, DON'T UPDATE OTA.
If it works out of the box, I would recommend not updating and/or just flashing an updated custom rom without the touchscreen updates.

My tablet automatically downloaded the update and there is a reminder in the notification bar. Is there away to remove the notification without installing the update?

Sure, it will root just fine. First step is to unlock the bootloader and then root it. here's a great tutorial video for both. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQmfIY9AB0o&feature=youtu.be
Hey guys, I have the 550ML (which for some reason is showing as the z00AD for XDA). Is it possible to root it? I haven't rooted a phone in awhile, and wanted to know if there is a universal lollipop root or do I have to wait for something down the line.

Also, you are one of the luck few to get it so early. People around the globe are still waiting, hold on for a little while and things will start popping up here.
I am waiting with my asus zenfone2 (ze551ml).... searching over n over... I wish devs will find a way for us... best of luck..

What if I root my phone and did not use any custom rom, will it still update the phone? like the system and UI. thank you

Flashing the pre-rooted rom isn't a custom rom...
I have my bootloader unlocked so this may affect things too but I just reflash the last pre-rooted rom then update over OTA. Never had a bootloop problem.
So saying it is generally advised to remove root/xposed and busybox, anything that alters the system image really, before doing an OTA update..
I'm going to buy a Huawei Watch and I have no experience about smartwatch.
My question is this:
Huawei Watch works well with a rooted Nexus N 6P with Android 7.0 (soon to 7.1.1)?
Or maybe the root of Nexus affect some function?
Thank you.

Thank you for your quick response.
You have verified that the root does not affect the cooperation between the two devices?
I ask because I read in some thread (can not remember where) that the root may affect the communication between smartphone and smartwatch.
Thank you.
Root & custom roms works fine with them.
My Huawei watch works fine on my stock rooted 6P on DP2.
Yes, I m using it over CM13, which is the custom ROM and on rooted device with no issue.

There's something wrong with your specific ROM then, because many others have no problem.

I got the message regarding custom Rom and the Wear App can't open when I upgraded the wear companion app to 2.0. I got the solution to change the user type debug to user in system boot properties file but I prefer to downgrade the companion app to 1.5. Now I m using 1.5 with no issues.

That's BS, I have the watch and Custom ROM the latest stuff and everything works amazing, there is no difference rooted or not.
I also tried Android 2 dev preview works great.
I also unlocked and rooted and flashed custom ROM on the watch itself later, and it's amazing.
ROOT/CUSTOM ROM, have nothing to do with Android Wear or the watch functionality!
If Android Wear is available in your country to download from Google Play, you are good to go
