Don't use any type of battery monitor, widget or notification.
I was getting good battery life but had a few weird cases of reboots and where the phone would just shutdown and then need battery pull to get back up.
Since I stopped using any type of battery monitor/widget/notification my battery life is much much better (same usage pattern/apps) and I have not had a single reboot or issue.
I just wanted to share this for people having problems. Worth a shot.
I use JuiceDefender Ultimate and my battery life are more efficent!

i've been getting close to 20 hours on the standard battery.
expecting my extended oem battery soon!

There are a number of things that affect this. Most importantly, use CPU spy to check how much time your phone spends at each frequency, or rather in deep sleep. Some monitors in certain settings will keep the phone awake, draining battery.

My AndroidOS wake time is much lower after getting rid of the battery status apps
I use Circle Battery Widget https://market.android.com/details?...oid.CircleBatteryWidget&feature=search_result and it has no noticeable effect on battery life.
I'm using Battery Solo Widget (was using Circle Battery Widget before) and it does not have any noticeable impact on battery life. Right now I'm at 36 hours on battery with 24% left

Use airplane mode at night while your u sleep. I lose less than 1%

Well the screen was on for 1 hour and 50 minutes (at max brightness) according to battery stats, so I'm not using it THAT much but the point is that a battery widget doesn't seem to have a big impact on battery life.
I also noticed that if I stop constantly closing applications after using them (by swiping on the ICS task switcher), my battery lasts a little longer

and lose 100% of your incoming calls or texts. good for battery life, not good for anybody who has a job/life that requires constant connectivity.

Yeah this isnt an option, I need to see missed calls and what not
However, when I do not have the androidOS wake bug, if my phone is on wifi I lose ~3-7% overnight, which is good IMO
I went to bed last night with 96% and left everything on and syncing and woke up to 88% so I think I'm content with letting it do it's thing. That was my first night with it so I expect it only to get better.

I suppose if you work 24/7 you are correct. For those of us that don't, airplane mode is a great option. Also Google voice solves the missed call problem - you will be notified by email when you take airplane mode off.

As crappy as the battery life is during daily use...idle at night even with wifi left on and updating turned on its still only about 1% loss per hour...Also running the th3ory axiom roms too if that helps.

What if someone calls you and its an emergency? Like one of your kids calling to say they're stranded somewhere? Still a good idea? Or how about just plug in your phone while you sleep? Brilliant!!!

I run the stock GSM battery, it lasts all day so I have no complaints.
If I had the samsung spare battery w/ charger for business trips i'd be set for those flights and airport waits.
I tried aggressive setting but I don't like that it just kills data once the screen is off and idk if it ever turns on for syncing. So I ended up doing custom with almost every option clicked. Feels like I'm wasting the app now though. How is yours set up?

It does sync every 5min/30min/hour/whatever there should be an option for it. I'm not using it right now but I had mine setup to sync every 30 mins.
Is it worth the lag to get this kind of battery life?
I mean without it I get through the day but I kinda have to conserve a bit.
What do you mean lag? I mean its slightly annoying sometimes when I turn my phone on and the data takes five seconds to connect but some people say it saves a ton of battery.

I've never had any lag with Juice Defender.. on any device for that matter.
With LTE, it is a lifesaver. With 3G, not so much.
I tried JD on this phone last couple of days. Just uninstalled it, causing too many issues I never had before.
Weird freezes on lock screen. Issue when restarting phone would hang. Voicemail coming in late.
Never once had any of these issues before Juice Defender. But yes it really did extend battery life. But too buggy for me.

Well, I've been ting to identify what apps are responsible for my horrible battery life and when analyzing Catlog, I noticed that the Sensors are constantly going when Motion is enabled. Is this a significant power draw? Will disabling certain Motion options improve this drajn? And finally, is App Voice Commands also a power sucker? I didn't notice anything going on in CL when that was enabled vs. disabled.

Yeah, it keeps the gyrosensor running. Big battery drain.

So I bought a gnex a while ago, and the battery doesn't last very long.
Since I'm new in all of this I don't really know if it's normal and if it is what can I do to make it last longer?
My phone lasts about 10 hours with 3G and less than 2 hours of screen on..
It's the Google one which comes with 1750mAh standard battery. I thought of buying 2100 one but it seems very expensive unlike the bigger ones..
It costs around 35$ on ebay..
Also, can I use the Verizon or sprint batteries? From what I understand the official Samsung extended battery for Google nexus is 2000mAh? Why isn't it 2100 like Verizon?
So.. What should I do?

My battery sucks as well I'm blaming the 4.2.1 update for making a bad battery even worse. Also the Verizon nexus is LTE enabled so its battery is even worse hence the bigger extended battery and even at stock the Verizon version has a bigger battery, the Verizon extended battery is not compatible with your Gsm nexus.

I can get between 10-17 hours on my verizon nexus with always about 2hrs screen on time. I think that is plenty, but im always near a chrager. I came from a tbolt, so this nexus seems like it lasts a week.

I unplugged it at around 7am and it died at around 5pm.
I want my phone to stay running even if I don't have access to a charter at the moment.
How much more battery time would the 2000mAh extended battery give me? Is it worth the 35$?
If not, what should I do?

Get a different phone. My battery life has sucked on 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2.

I ha e a sprint gnex with a Verizon extended battery... I think its 2200. I get about 1 1/2 hours screen on time with cm10. My galaxy note 2 should be here Friday... I can't wait for 6 hours of screen on time.

Places to buy and order cheap and qualitative battery extension or extra batteries with wall charger or charging case or power bank?
roms kernels apps themes usage reception wakelocks wifi 2g/3g are many of the factors for battery life, why don't u try one of those avenues or all and see what u get or upload some screen shots and use better battery stats and cpuspy to narrow it down

3G always on besides when jdu closes it.

I have the one from Samsung (2100 mAh i guess) and it's doing great...i mean about 3.5 hrs screen time and 1 hr talk time. I must say i don't listen to music, only youtube videos, games ans browsing.
I have CM 10.1, 4.2.1...so far so good.

try changing kernel first (Franco's is one of the best...)
The battery is the weakest point of this smartphone: yesterday I used it only in 3g with all accounts sync on and it has drained 46% with only 1 hour and 5 screen on.I know that 3g sucks a lot, but LOL xD

Plus : Lowering brightness , disable Bluetooth + GPS +WiFi if not used , Uninstalling useless apps if not needed and using the phone in 2G has always the biggest impact in improving battery lifetime

I bought a 1980mah battery for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus on eBay and just keep it with me in my wallet if my phone ever dies. Never had to go through two whole batteries in a single day.

Its good to switch to 2g when you turn off the screen so you can still receive emails and such..

3g is actually better with battery then 2g, but if there are both available with good coverage. 3G switching down and up is worse, but that's because of switching, not the 3g itself.

If I use at 100%, I can use easily 2 batteries xD

50% battery drain in 1hour47mins(Screen ON completely), with BT n WIFI turned off, least brighntess, no background apps, background data off. Running on stock 4.2.1 rooted and hardly any apps installed. Used only whatsapp and was on xda via opera mini.
The battery sucks :/ Maybe its time to switch over to note2.
Waiting for ubuntu, if it can do anything to the battery life. Or, i would switch.

I've been playing around with my note for a while and noticed that my old ipad 3 has a lot better standby time compared to the note. Now granted I use the note more often and it checks mail and diff accounts more often then the ipad , but we're still talking of a 3-4 day difference.
So I was wondering what's the best way to test batterylife on the note? Any app that can test it easily ?
Been playing with settings and even ran it on power savings mode for a while, but still feel that the battery drains a tad faster then it should
Suggestions?

What does it do? test or improve the battery?
It shows you exactly whats using your battery and wake locks so you can see whats waking your tab and draining your battery

Decided to check drain overnight . did a full charge and left it overnight + part of the day. Didn't touch it, look at it or think about it , check after 14 hours battery down to 80 % Android system seems to be eating alot, best way to figure out what? Screen wasn't used at all
Wifi was on, everything else off, and battery savings was on.
