Just got this phone about a week a ago, and figured I'd check out rooting it and such. And figured out this phone didn't have a stock recovery when I got it but boot loader was never unlocked until I did it. Now I have twrp on a stock rooted nandroid backup android 4.4.2. Can't do a OTA to lollipop says I have a variant system. My cid doesn't match there system update sent to the phone lmfao. And no ruu matched my phone found in these forums.
The reasoning I need this firmware is I'm having touch screen. Issues such as mirrored touches sometimes. Other times the phone will run good. Can't run lollipop roms or marshmallow cause my firmware isn't updated for it smh. I messaged HTC about this and sent a request to there team in charge and will give me an update in 7-10 business days.

Just unlocked my bootloader and flashed clockwork recovery - pretty easy.
I have a Vodafone UK provided device that has vodafone's CID.
My Firmware version is 1.26 currently.
If i wanted to put Android Revolution 3.0.0 on the device it is suggested i need to upgrade the firmware?
When i look at the firmware page it says its only supported by certain CID numbers and when i check mine it says none
Can i still put it on or do i risk bricking?
Since you're CID is not listed, my guess is that it will either not install, give bootloop or brick.
Keep reading and let people develop some more.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
My HTC One X is on Vodafone too. I unlocked it etc from the guides on XDA and HTCDEV.
I've been using the ARHD ROMS for a few days now, they're better than what Vodafone provided. Today I flashed the ARHD 3 ROM. First I did the 3 boot image via fastboot then flashed the ROM via recovery, I always wipe cache and dalvik cache between ARHD ROMs and so far it's working fine. No brick here...
If you've got this far I reckon you can fastboot flash the boot image and upgrade to ARHD 3 no problem at all - go for it I say...
linkisoc - with your phone on the arhd rom and unlocked from HTCdev, are you able to change the CID?
I'll confess I never even considered the CID. It's not something I'd come across before with several android phones all rooted / flashed etc. I've been doing this since the Google Nexus one, Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Nexus and now the One X... checking the CID never occured to me...I'll google it now though and see if I've just been very lucky !
i've never changed it either - always managed to get unbranded sets this far but was far too keen for this phone and got it from vodafone on release day, complete with all their crap and slow OTA releases. I asked in another post about the difference between htcdev unlock and an eventual S-OFF and apparently they're different.
I converted my M8 to a GPE edition a few days ago and so far everything's been working ok. When I did the conversion, I needed to change the CID (GOOGL001) and I'm assuming its all worked ok as I flashed the phone with the 4.4.3 ruu and the phone then updated itself to 4.4.4 through an OTA update. The phones not rooted, S-Off has been reversed and I've re locked the bootloader.
The problem I now have is when I try to use recovery to update to 5.0.1, which from what I've read, should be possible. before I can select the update file I'm getting 'Check CID failed' and the phone just reboots back to android. I've been googling the issue and cant find anything specific... any ideas?
Given this is happening now, when the OTA update does arrive, is this going to cause me problems?
Link us to the thread where you found the 5.0.1 update zip/file your trying to use.
Why would you go S-ON after being S-OFF ?
Morning guys i am very new to the rooted world of Android. I have an HTC One M8 Version 4.4.2 and the OTA update notification constantly pops up, i would like to update my phone which is already rooted and i accidentally deleted the back up file when i first began to root the phone. Greetings! I've been unlocked / rooted for a while using HTDEV / TWRP / SuperSU with S-ON and would like to revert back to stock just enough to start receiving OTA again... and eventually Marshmallow. Sadly, I'm getting older and would rather limp along the stock road as I don't find myself tweaking as much anymore. Some facts:
HTC One M9 AT&T US
Android 5.1
HTC Sense 7.0
2.11.502.18
*** Software status: Modified ***
***RELOCKED***
***S-ON***
I unlocked bootloader via htcdev and made sure to make a backup of my stock rom before doing anything so I have that.
What I've done so far:
-TWRP restore my stock ROM (message popped up upon completion stating that device is not rooted, do you wish to root and I chose NO)
-Found (what I think to be) correct replacement stock recovery and flashed via fastboot. It was 2.6.502.16 (Android 5.1) AT&T US stock recovery download from andromods
-"Relocked" bootloader.
Is this all I need to do? I see some walkthrough that involve using Sunshine for S-OFF along with MID/CID and RUU back to 100% stock, but do I need to do all that with all I've saved during my original unlock/root process?
I saw right away that there was an 80ish mb update already so I decided to try and install the update but it stalled out about 10% with the red "!" phone graphic.
I follow you guys quite a bit over here at xda and really dig this community. Any help would be much appreciated!
Have the same problem with my HTC one m9 but with unrooting and installing the ruu 3.35.161.12.
New Update received to android 7... It restarts and install it but until 25% comes the red triangle with the exclamation.... Need also help
Try to keep this as short as possible. Got 2 New in box HTC One m9s from ebay.
First one white came with unbranded android 6. It wants to OTA update but always fails. From about info it is a 617 variant. We will lets this ride for a bit...
Second one is the real problem. It came with 5.1 and wanted to OTA update but the update crashed phone, only rebooting to download mode. The only official HTC RUU that worked to restore it was the android 6 ATT Cingular US RUU. It now thinks it is a 502 variant.
I have unlocked the bootloader via htcdev. It reports status: Modified / unlocked / s-on. Not sure why the modified if was the official RUU from HTC download page.
I would like to have a unbranded android 7 as AOSP as possible. But possible due to security KEY changes by htc between versions. I can not get any RUU or zip file on SDcard to install.
I have read and read before posting. The TWRP section here says the info is out of date and could cause a boot loop. The wrong SuperSU can cause a boot loop.
Where/What info can I use to get this phone into shape at this point in time?
Update. I "got some guts" and went ahead with the TWRP install per the READ ME thread and that worked.
I installed a newer (recommended) SuperSU and that boot looped the phone.
So I picked a GSM (ATT) android 7 sense 8 rom and wiped and installed. Almost 20 minutes later the loops stopped and BINGO! working phone.
Installed the SuperSU and that worked.
Current state is unlocked, S-ON any reason to SUNSHINE for S-off at this point?
Do not like the ATT stuff. So the new question is: What is the most AOSP unbranded ROM you might recommend to me?
Thanks!
FYI: I used to hang out here a lot in the HTC fuze days.
The most vanilla rom here would be LOS 15.1 and LOS 16.
The Lineage builds are the offspring of Cyanogenmod.
Both threads are in the original development section, and both are under development.
Take a look.....and happy flashing....g
