Hi all
After a stint abroad my Lenovo P2a42 (unlocked, rooted) is unable to connect to the mobile network for some reason. I've tried the following until now to no avail:
- Cleaned the SIM/SD slot with compressed air
- Airplane mode enable/disable a few times
- Rebooting a few times. Both with and without Airplane mode active -> see notice below
- Shutting down, waiting for a few minutes, turning it on again a few times. Both with and without Airplane mode active -> see notice below
- Different ROMs (coming from [ROM][8.1.0_r4][Kuntao][BETA][AOSP][UNOFFICIAL] AospExtended ROM V5.1 during which it started failing, now on [ROM][8.1.0]Android Open Source Illusion Project[P2][UNOFFICIAL], reverting back and forth a few times)
- Setting APNs, both manually and resetting them to defaults on both ROMs
- Factory reset
Before being abroad, everything was normal. While being abroad, during which the phone was mostly in Airplane mode with Wifi enabled, I briefly using roaming.
The SIM card is and has always been recognized by the phone and unlocks as usual. The SD Card works normally.
Notice: What I noticed is that the phone does connect to the mobile network just before rebooting or shutting down the phone. During the reboot/shutdown screen (Text on display: "Rebooting..."/"Shutting down...") I can see the carrier name showing up briefly and replacing the "no service" in the notification bar. I'm unsure if this points to a specific problem which may make solving this easier.
Any help is appreciated.

I have different problems with my HTC Desire.
1. Bluetooth won't be turned on. After trying to turn it on it switches back after a few seconds.
2. The time/clock is running too slow. Each hour it's about 5 minutes before the actual time. I now set it each hour with ClockSync, but that's just a workaround.
3. Phone gives "No signal" a few times a day. Only when device is off. As soon as I turn the device on it connects with my T-Mobile network in a few seconds.
Are these problems related to each other?
I tried different ROM's and also different Radio versions. All with the same problems.
Could it be a hardware failure?
Reset it to stock then send it back for repair. If this happens on various ROMs, including the stock one, it must be a hardware issue.
P.S. - If the phone is set to "take" the time settings from the mobile network operator, it could be their fault.
i have a samsung galaxy note 2. i got a popup msg from att alerting me that i was exceeding my plans data limit. shortly thereafter, i noticed wifi wasnt on. i tried to toggle it on, but the button was greyed out and would not allow me to slide it to the on position. it seems to be permanently off. i have powered off the phone, taken out the battery and sim and sd card, powered it back on, still not able to select the on switch on wifi. i reset my router, still nothing. i downloaded wifi fixer, still nothing. i have been reading up on this and it seems no one knows what gives. my phone is not rooted. i have turned off wifi power saver. i have not performed a hard reset as most posts i have read said that didnt work. i'm at a loss.
bluetooth is working

I had something similar in that I would turn on wifi and it would not turn on. Tried everything you did, even the hard reset w/ no love.In my case once I turned off Bluetooth and tried to turn it back on it began exhibiting the same behavior. I was able to "fix it" by booting up in safe mode, turning on the wifi (and BT in my case), and then rebooting. It has been working since then without issues.
Hi everyone,
I'm running into what seems to be a common issue with this phone - getting a no service error. This started happening after I turned my phone on this morning, and I don't recall changing anything that could have caused this.
When I look at the testing menu, the network status flickers between no service and emergency calls only. The network mode defaults to "Unknown", and when I try to change it to anything else it will return back after a second. The radio status is set to off, and if I click the button to turn it on, it does not appear to do anything. I've tried rebooting my phone several times, pulling the battery, reseating the SIM card, clearing the cache, but nothing I've tried so far seems to work.
Is there anything I can do that minimizes destruction (clearing all data or doing a reflash) to get this working?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I'm not sure what I just changed, although my phone decided to connect to the network... Huh!
I have an XZ2 Compact, running latest build available from Sony (Android 10).
My symptoms are pretty much same as [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/a1tym6/cellular_radio_power_will_not_turn_on_x_compact/).
Background
I am changing my phone carrier. In the morning I wake up and noticed that a notification that says, "SIM card not provisioned". So I put in my new SIM card, and then the problem appeared.
The problem
On the phone it says "No Service".
If I try to trigger manual carrier selection, it will return an empty list with error immediately, saying that no carrier is available.
If I try to open testing mode (*#*#4636#*#*) it will report that cellular radio power is off. I can click the button to turn it on but it wouldn't actually do anything. Same with the network selection -- it says "Unknown", I tried to force it to "WCDMA Only", but it wouldn't stick -- it would just revert back to "Unknown" if I open testing mode again.
Hi,
did you manage to fix the problem? I'm facing similar issue (radio mobile power turns off and on, sometimes it stays on but not very often). The problem appeared suddenly about two weeks ago (no prior software update, I'm running Android 10).
It seemed to work momentarily if I drain off the battery completely (remember, there probably are still some residual juice even when power drops to 0%). I just let it sit for weeks before trying to turn it on again. And then it would work. At least for a short while. But as long as I reboot it again, it will have the same problem -- i.e. shows no service, but not prompting that e.g. a SIM card is missing.

Hello, im facing the same issue. I just got xz2 (single-sim model) phone for a few days, working without any issue. But after some time, my phone show ‘no service’ even though i have inserted my simcard in it. I even tried flashing many different firmware but cant find a solution. Anyone got the same problem?

I am having this problem too. XZ2 worked fine for a couple of months then randomly a couple of weeks ago I have no signal.
Hi,
The device I currently own (SM-G990U AT&T) was purchased from a third party three months ago.
Until two days ago, the phone worked perfectly. In the morning, I woke up without any notifications, which has never happened before. Upon further inspection, I discovered the Wi-Fi switch had been turned off, which was very awkward. Within 6 hours of turning the Wi-Fi back on, I noticed it was once again off, and it would turn off every 10 mins to an hour. The first day, I ignored the issue because I was pretty busy, but today things got worse. The Wi-Fi will toggle off every 5 seconds or so at most. It would eventually stop turning on and the icon would remain a lighter shade of blue (loading).
It seemed to stay on longer while downloading files or making online phone calls (Could be wrong, but willing to test this)
Here's what I've tried so far:
- Delete the most recently downloaded apps
- Checked Wi-Fi settings for Wi-Fi control history and others
- Removed Wi-Fi control permissions
- Reset Network settings
- Update software (Odin)
- Downgrade Software (Odin)
- Factory Reset (Recovery mode, CSC file Odin)
After about 5 factory resets, Wi-Fi worked for about 10 minutes (I couldn't get past the FRP without connecting to Wi-Fi - thought the phone was toast). Please help me here if you can, because I don't know what else to do.

Have you tried checking your battery saver program to see if it's the problem? I would also check your connection settings and make sure they are set to default.
