Can't seek in Google Play Music? - Razer Phone Questions & Answers

Whenever I try to seek/scrub in Google Play Music it just restarts the track. Doesn't happen on my other phone. Seems like some OnePlus owners were having this issue as well but it was fixed.. Any ideas?

I'm having no issues with that and haven't in the past, have you tried updating the app?

Well this is weird. I uninstalled updates through Settings, and seek works perfectly. As soon as I update the app though, the issue returns.
EDIT: Just worked it out. The issue seems to be with downloaded tracks. Streamed music seeks perfectly, but downloaded music has the issue. Guessing this isn't razer phone exclusive now.
EDIT 2: Well I was wrong about that too I guess. Ever since downloading tracks seek seems to have broken on all tracks irrespective of whether they had been downloaded. The problem is not fixed by resetting data either. I have no clue.
EDIT 3: Now nothing I do fixes the issue, including uninstalling updates.
EDIT 4: And now seek is magically working again?
EDIT 5: And it's broken.
FINAL EDIT: I seem to have worked it out. The issue is that Google Play Music by default has auto-downloading of tracks. Whenever I went to listen to a song to test, it would auto-download it either before or during the test, causing seek to break. Turning it off makes seek work, but downloaded tracks seem totally broken for some reason.

[Q] Play audio, pause so that place is bookmarked. Return to play, bookmark is lost.

I noticed this issue in Google Listen.
I used to be able to download several audio podcasts, play one of them but decided to pause halfway and begin another podcast, pause the second one and then be able to go back to the first and resume playback.
Now it seems the bookmarking spot is lost and the audio restarts from the beginning. I thought it might be an issue with Google Listen so i uninstalled and reinstalled. No fix. I Googled a solution and none came up but I see a few people complaining of the issue from last year and I've seen recent posts saying the new Stagefright is at fault and is affecting other audio playback apps.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea what's going on and if it is an issue for most/all apps with bookmarking abilities. The MyPod app seems unaffected but I saw the Doggcatcher had an issue (and might have been fixed with an recent update)
I really like Listen as an audio podcast fetcher/player and would rather not give up on it.

maps and google music trouble

i've noticed that since updating to jellybean my google play music only works for a couple songs then stops playing. the doesn't force close and i can scroll around but nothing plays. today my maps kept force closing for no reason, anyone else seeing these issues? my phone is fully stock and unrooted.
This happened to me, too for the Play music -exactly like you describe. I'm sorry I don't know anything about how or why - but just letting you know you're not alone. I was also stock and unrooted at the time. I haven't tried it since so I don't know if anything I've done since then would make a difference. Would like to give the streaming a chance in the future, but it freezing is a worry for me if I'm going to spend money.
I just switched to a different player and haven't had the same issues. Were you streaming or playing from sd card ? I was playing from the sd card and I have wondered if this was part of the problem (just providing information in case it helps someone else).
i was streaming. i know if i restart my phone it works again for a few songs then stops.
i tried doing a factory reset on my phone in hopes that maybe something got corrupt during the update. it did not help. i think i figured out the maps problem. having the satellite layer on seems to be what kept causing maps to crash. i've never had this problem before though.
i decided to try using the play music widget instead of the app. it's been playing for 6 or 7 songs now, where as when i've used the app it would stop playing after 4-5 songs. so hopefully if i continue to use the widget instead i won't have any more problems.
well my play music is back to not working after a few songs even going through the widget.

Bluetooth issue: Sharing has stopped

Hello guys.
Phone is rooted to recent MOAR rom. Recently I have been having an issue when connected to my bluetooth JamBox the bluetooth cuts out after the song and plays out of the phone for the first 10 seconds before reconnecting. An error message that says Unfortunately bluetooth sharing has stopped.
This is an isolated issue to my phone as others can connect to it and play continuously without issue.
I have tried to clear data on my bluetooth files in titanium backup , even installed and tried BLE crash resolver to no avail.
Anyone have any fixes for this?
TIA guys
please...
okay...so I wiped all data and reinstalled teh moar rom I had on. Now... I can get the bluetooth to play thorugh the speake.r... ok
before the reflash.. I would play on spotify and would get the error that bluetooth share stopped. the sound would cut out and play through phone for first 10 secs and then pick up through bluetooth speaker.
Now...at end of song the same error pops up but there is no cut out of sound. Next song keeps playing fine.....BUT if I try to fast forward it will temporarily cut out sound to phone and go back to speaker. Please help.
There are two probabilities!
1. It can be a BUG in the ROM
2. Or else your JamBox must have some kind of problem.
Try the same thing with your stock ROM. If everything works fine then its a BUG in MOAR ROM.
You can connect to the developer and give him bug report, he'll probably solve it in his next version.
If Bluetooth still disconnects on stock ROM then its a JamBox problem. You need to replace it.

well...I had been using this rom for atleast 6 months no issues. Now I can use pandora just fine no issues and music stored on sd card. . MY wife with same phone regular stock can play the spotify just fine...no issues. so why is my phone and spotify having an issue especially since i relfashed...?
Try to clean flash ROM.
It'll probably help you.
I did clean flash. Still won't work right
OKay.. so I found a nandroid backup on my phone I made. The wicked S5 experience one that had an old spotify version installed. Surprisingly the spotify played without error. So I backed up the spotify in TB and then reflashed MOAR. I restored the old spotify and it is working still on this rom as well. The latest version of spotify is what was giving it issues. I'm hesitant to download the new version of spotify from the playstore and give that a go. Weird issue though. My wife has the same phone (stock though is the only difference) and the latest version of spotify and hers plays fine through JamBox.
So I did end up installing spotify from the app store and the same version that wouldn't work previously now works. I must have fubared something in the operating system files or whatever is responsible for spotify and Bluetooth.

My OP3 keeps opening the music player in the notification without reasons(OOS 3.2.7)

Hi,
I have my OP3 for 2 weeks, but there is something strange, the phone is opening the music player in the notification without reasons, sometimes when I'm scrolling across an app or while I lock the phone. At least 2/3 times per days !
But it doesn't launch the music, it just open the music player in the notification.
I'm using full STOCK phone, I disabled the next/previous music gestures, didn't changed anything !
If someone could help me for that it would be nice ! Is it a know software issue ? Maybe I would have a hardware issue ?
Thanks !
This won't be much help but sometimes PowerAmp did that too on CM13 for absolutely no reason, with BT off, so it wouldn't have connected to the car stereo. Wish I could figure out why

Could it be hardware related ?
I have been having the same problem for a long time and I have always been on OxygenOS(currently running the Open Beta 7). I always thought it was a problem with Saavn but I didn't look for an alternative or a solution since I had paid for its pro service. This now seems to be a general problem...

Edit: Never mind, somehow I missed that you already tried this, sorry.
Disable the "Music control" from Settings->Gestures and see if that helps. I had the music player opening a couple of times when leaving locked phone on the table, I guess my fingers touched the screen and phone thought I was drawing the music control gestures

Still happning on the Beta 7 ?
How is it possible ? It's not software solvable ?
Because if it's a hardware issue that I couldn't fix then I would like to know it and maybe push back the phone before the end of my 15 days return.
I had a similar issue where Google music would start by itself, even with gestures disabled. I uninstalled gm updates, cleared all cache, reinstalled gm. So far so good. However, just today another perhaps unrelated problem: music is routed through external speakers while listening over the same wired headphones. I made sure plugged in all the way, it only worked by removing and reinserting them.

its not a hardware issue. Actually its a gesture issue. Disabled it from the gesture menu. Problem solved for me

I already disabled gestures, didn't changed anything. This morning when I woke up the music player was again in the notification, whereas I didn't touched the phone during all the night. And this happen even when I'm using the phone.

Well, this seems to be a GM issue. I have Spotify on the phone and it's only launch the stock music player.

Music issue

Issue: Music will randomly play 10-20 secs of a song then skip to the next song. Sometimes will skip songs until I force close/clear cache and restart the app. Doesn't matter which music app - Youtube music, Spotify, Pandora, etc. Happens whether it's playing over bluetooth or not. Have uninstalled/reinstalled apps, no change. Have changed every bluetooth setting I can find. Basically done everything I can think of short of factory resetting.
Help
Mine randomly does the exact same thing. Super annoying....
It started after the Oreo update.

But Google play music was the only player that I found didnt do it if that is any help
I use Black Player, no issues
So I finally figured out mine was an issue with Ford Sync in my truck. For some reason I never realized it only happened in my truck but I switched phones and it still happens...
