Hello XDA!
As the title says, I am really stupid and accidentally ran the bootloader unlocking program intended for verizon on my sprint s3.

I tried the USB dongle thing, tried vol down + power + home, I can't get it to do anything. However, when i hold the power button with it connected to the PC, the PC will make usb connection sounds like it's turning on and off.

take the battery out. plug your phone in and try to go into download mode.
I did the same thing only with the AT&T version on my Sprint s3. It's officially bricked. If you take it back to the Sprint store they'll swap it out for a new one. There is literally nothing else you can do. It sucks. I know.

As was stated here.. If you can't get it to download mode (Odin) then your gonna be taking back to store.. It sucks.. just ensure you triple check before flashing anything.. our phone is the SPH-L710. I have seen some who have flashed roms (tried to) for the I9300.. Which is the international version.. So just becareful on next adventure.. and most of all, don't be afraid to ask!!! This place is a wealth of knowledge and most are always willing to help.
Thank you everyone!
Looks like I will try to get it swapped out at the Sprint store.. I hope they won't give me any trouble for not being their customer though.
I appreciate everyone's time!

Just to update (for anyone in my situation without a Sprint account), two sprint stores wouldn't replace my phone because I don't have a Sprint account. I even told them that the reason why I want to fix it is to activate it for Sprint, but they wouldn't budge... It looks like I will have to find a friend who has Sprint, associate the broken S3's ESN with their account, and bring it back for replacement.

Yea, that's probably not gona happen, because then they'll want to activate it [Sprint], on the 'donor' account. You my friend, may officially roughly 535$ in the hole...

It makes sense. Why would Sprint replace a phone on there network if you don't even have their service..? Not trying to be mean, but it's common sense.
Some people buy bricked phones though.

Gotta love a 550$ paperweight!
As I said, they will replace the phone if I register the ESN on my friend's Sprint account.

I do not think that is going to work. I think you are going to have to send your phone here.
Dude just call samsung and tell them phone died during a phone call say it wouldn't boot back up. You have a free year manufacture warranty use it. As long as your screen is not cracked samsung will replace your phone. I had two replaced gs3 . They will troubleshoot with you first then send you a box to send your old phone and a new or refurbished phone back. There really fast a week or days depends on where you live. The only problem or thing I didn't like was ups just left the phone at the door without me signing. I wasn't at home but just right on the ground on the front door it could have got stolen or rained on. Don't waste your time with sprint just call Sammy man . Oh my phone was rooted to and they never said a thing. All they do Is put new software on it and send it back out to someone else. Goodluck

Yes, I believe you officially bricked it, it happened to be before, loaded a bad ROM, but for sprint?, I don't think it would be a problem, I went and said I got it a week ago, and I left it to charge one night, and woke up and bit won't turn on, and they gives it to their tech guy to check it out, but he failed because as we all know, its bricked and can't be turned on, it took like 2 hours for the check up, so idk, find something to kill time then go back lol, grab a hotdog , but anyway, so i had to pay insurance which was only like 48 I believe, which is better than buying a new galaxy s3 lol, but if you already for insurance, then you should be set , and should have to come back to the store In about 3 days to collect your new phone, and I'm sorry for your lost , and good luck

hey guys,
im considering selling my epic 4g on ebay without the micro sd card. my question is i no longer have service with sprint yet when i go to the "about phone" section it still shows my phone number. i now have the same number on t mobile with a different phone. my phone was rooted so i tried returning the phone to bare stock which i did but still shows my number. excuse my ignorance with this maybe i need to do something else?
Thanks
I've also moved on to T-mobile as you have, and I still use my old epic for my self. I keep it in airplane mode and while its in that state the phone # (nor any service info) shows up in about phone. I don't think there's a way to change it since sprint doesn't use sim cards it probably needs to be activated on a new account to change the number.
I may be wrong tho. I feel like maybe there's a build.prop edit or something that could remove it for you that I'm not aware of. Ill let you know if I find anything out since I can test random things on my phone.

So i took a trip to sprint today and they couldn't help me but they said customer support could. I call them and they say removing the number is not possible. I find it hard to believe. They said its because the account was closed and my number was ported over to another provider. The rep on the phone said i could use the buy back program to sell sprint my phone. Yeah right like gamestop where you get nothing for your games? I just find it hard to believe there is no number sequence to reset. What if i bought the phone outright? There would be no number on it im sure.
Very frustrating. Im thinking of calling another day.

I don't think you can buy the phone outright, it has been sold entirely on contract and a number will be written in once you deal a contract...

I just did a quick search to find some activation codes. Have you tried Carrier Wipe?
Open the dialer
Dial ##72786#
Enter your Master Subsidy Lock (MSL) if prompted
Touch "OK", phone will restart
EDIT:
OR
Open dial pad and enter ##<6-digit MSL>#
Tap "Edit"
Tap "OK"
Enter <10-digit phone number>
Tap "OK"
Enter <10-digit MSID>
Tap "OK"
Select "Done"
If the phone does not reboot, reboot it now.
Is everyone's MSL the same? I don't know what mine is and I don't have alogcat installed to try the method I've found from Google. I guess I could call sprint but it always seems I get the non technical person.

Thank you so much! It took 40 minutes on the phone to get the right code with the right person but all the info is now gone. Awesome!

Hey this just happened overnight, it just turned off and when i woke up it was on the loading screen where it says "Samsung Galaxy Note II". Its been on this screen ever since and i tried taking out the battery, sim card everything. Im with rogers and i called them and they said it was pooched but i thought id ask you guys if you could help at all. It would cost a chunk of change to send it in for repairs or just upgrade my phone. Thnaks!
In order to enter recovery mode, you will first have to turn off your device. Once it’s turned off, press volume up + power button + home button simultaneously and keep them pressed until you see the recovery mode.

If you haven't already, try booting in recovery mode, you might need to let go of the buttons after a second or two for the boot to continue. (It's been a while since I've had to do it this way, and I can't turn my phone off to try at the moment.) If that works, try a factory reset, i.e. clear user data.
If the above doesn't work, the hardware could be at fault. Am I right to assume you haven't modified the phone in any way?
Depending on what Rogers quotes you for a repair, you could get another Note 2 off classifieds (be careful with provenance as you wouldn't want a blacklisted device) or get a new one from Koodo (a Telus subsidiary) who sells them for 300$, unlock it (free from here, cheap from third party vendors, expensive from the carriers) and be on your way. (If you want your Rogers apps back, there's a code on here to change your Carrier Specific Content code from KDO to RWC, this will clear your data so do it early on.)
One last thing: the Rogers/Bell/Telus Galaxy Note II is the SGH-I317M, which shares the AT&T Note II forum, not this one.
Good luck,
Darkshado
I was using my phone then I put it in my back pocket to put groceries in the car. After I got in the car I took my phone out and the display was messed up. When I press the power button it fades from a dark screen to the a all white screen.
I was just wondering if the damage would be covered by htc one advantage
You don't need HTC advantage for that as it's not a broken (physical) screen. This should go under warranty
Do I go through HTC to get that or my carrier?

How long has it been since you bought it? If you're within 2 weeks go to your carrier. If it's been longer than 2 weeks then go with HTC.
okay thank you
OH, I bought the phone through Amazon, can I still go through verizon?
You take to Verizon and claim warranty for the phone. They would effect the repairs
My phone just froze last night and won't turn back on. I've tried charging it overnight (even though it was almost full), tried holding down power, volume down + power, all three buttons, connecting it to a PC and holding power and volume down + power and got nothing. The screen is black, no vibrations, no led.
The phone was bought from Verizon and was rooted with unlocked bootloader.
What are my options? Verizon can probably replace my phone but what happens when they get mine, figure out some way to turn it on and find out it was rooted?
Google can also replace my phone but it'll take a bit longer. Would they care that it was unlocked/rooted when they get it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Neither will care. Warranty it. I would use Google, there is a small chance you will get an unlockable phone that way.
Call Verizon. It's a Verizon phone anyway.
Me Too!
I have an unlocked 128GB XL Google Refurb unit from a prior warranty replacement. It was on the latest developer preview, stock and on Verizon Prepaid. I was listening to music at around 40% battery and the sound just shut off. I went to check it and the entire phone had died, couldn't turn it back on. I tried everything.
In the process of trying to get them to give me a brand new device with a new warranty or I'm asking for a refund. No reason to go through 3 devices when the product costs almost a grand out of pocket.

Thanks! I called Google and they will send me another phone upon receiving mine. Hopefully it'll be a Google variant with an unlockable bootloader.
