I have just made the biggest move of my life from iPhone to s9 plus and I do not regret it one little bit the s9 plus is amazing and I have managed to find almost all the apps I used on Apple (I have been with Apple since iPhone 4 and bought new reiteration every year)
One question I am on 3 UK and have noticed my 4g is slow and Wi-Fi is slow
I think I managed to sort the Wi-Fi with a forger router and 're added it but my 4g crawls
I use to get at work 48/50mb but I'm only getting 8mb max on the s9 plus
Any ideas if I have a faulty s9 plus or whether it's just android
Thanks

I have the standard S9 Exynos model and have no problems maxing out my 4G speed (60mbps).
My GF has an iphone 6S on the same network and mines hangs on to signal just a tiny bit better aswell.
Might be worth getting a replacement SIM card, es? I know these get updated regularly by the networks. Probably won't fix the issue but worth a shot.
Thanks will have a bash at that
Sent from my SM-G965F using XDA Premium HD app
If replacing the sim doesn't fit the issue, try a factory reset (can be a pain after installing all your apps, but it rules out a software issue). If the issue still remains after that, then I'd definitely say it's faulty.
Can I ask if you have an option for Wi-Fi calling on Three and if so where did you get your S9 from. Thanks
No option for Wi-Fi calling which I had on my 8 plus iPhone which is pants I presume three will eventually update the s9 plus

I got my S9+ from CPW. Where did you get yours from? I know phones bought from 3 will have it. Just trying to see if there is a pattern, whereby if bought for example direct from Samsung, It might come with the wifi calling .

You sure it's BTU? Usually BTU is only direct from Samsung. Unlocked versions from other retailers are usually XEU.

Mine is BTU (from Samsung Upgrade Program). I am on EE, I was able to activate WiFi calling without an issue Phone>Settings>WiFi calling (at the bottom).
I haven't noticed any issues with 4g at all, getting 87.5mb over the weekend.
How do I get into that setting?? I am new to android .. I've gone into my phone app and settings but can't see the Wi-Fi bit ??

Ye I get that a lot. Might have to put it in my signiture lol
It's called "Mattblack"
http://www.samsung.com/global/themestore/index.html?appId=com.set.mattblack.common&SITE_CODE=uk
I used it on my S7 Edge and was surprised to find it works with my S9 too.
Am on Vodafone - but dont have that option (also unlocked via Samsung Upgrade) so i guess is network dependent
Nope not showing will bob into three to make sure it's enabled I had it on my iPhone though

Looking to get the Galaxy Note 2 from T-Mobile today, however can someone confirm that it doesn't have this 'multi-task' sifebar? Wasn't this some type of OTA update recently from Samsung to add this functionality to the international versions?
Is this something we're going to have to wait six months to get?

Sadly something like that I shouldn't have to root for. If it is advertised I should have it on my device without having to root. I actually prefer not to root because there is nothing rooting does for me since 2.1.
Also I don't think it's a copyright or patent issue. Sony has open sourced their screen recorder and contributed to the open source community. So Samsung could use that much like CM has done for theirs.

You are so correct! There really is nothing i can think of that can talk be into rooting my GN2. I know, I know, CarrierIQ is a bad thing, but I'm now at the place where if I root my phone, I will loose the ability to use my new best friend which is the ISIS app. I'm one of the few individuals who live around the Austin Texas area, which is one of he cities that ISIS has rolled out. You can opt out of CiQ. It's on page 346 of the user manual. It doesn't specifically state that's CIQ, BUT that's what CIQ does for T-Mobile. CIQ isn't as bad a people think or claim. Due to HTC's bad implementation of the software given to them by CIQ they got a bad rap.
I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Can't ever root again......not if Samsung had the NSA itself encrypting the bootloader.
Also, the locked bootloader is only a requirment to run Samsung's Knox protection sofware, which is only really relevant for business use.

Dell streak 5 was an amazing device.... Very poorly marketed... Dell would have been in a different part of the economics had they done a good job...
Yes,that's what me and my brother have always thought,Dell had it right before anyone else, now everyone is making the same size, they didn't advertise it,so no one knew about it. Dialer App?
I have a ATT Galaxy Note 8 with a wireless data plan. It clearly has a micro-SIM and a LTE modem.
Really, all I think it needs is the actual Dialer app. Which leads me to the question: how would I install it?
I know that in some european markets the Note 8 has phone capabilities... would it be simpler to flash a euro image onto it?

If you are getting the Note 8 with the intention of using it as your primary phone, I'll chime in and say I haven't been happy with the quality of VoIP on AT&T's HSPA network. Your results may be better with LTE, but I think there is something about AT&T's network that makes it less suitable for VoIP than Verizon. I don't know for sure, I'm speculating based on what I've experienced.

It was real clear, now im just going through google voice settings trying to receive calls, I'm using Talkatone too, in google voice you have a different number that people see when you call, it says you can port-use your cell number, but it cost $20 to do it, which I think I'm going to end up doing, just still trying to receive calls, it says to click on make a new number in google voice, then make sure forward calls is checked,...I think I'll get the receiving calls working soon: )..also the sending text are working!

What a big let down, you can imagine I just got it today (Note 8.0 LTE) the whole time I thought this is one big phone/tablet that will let me use it as a phone because of the SIM card slot and 4g and LTE abilities!! Only to find out that only international version can make calls!! WTF!! Hope to try your ways otherwise I am hoping someone will come up with a rom that enable this feature for good!
It'll work as a phone great, I just called my Dad today and had him call me back on talkatone, and it sounds great, also groove ip too, just get the app, then go on your computer to google voice and get a google voice number, it let's you scan through a bunch, just pick one and follow the steps, it sounds better than using my cell phone on speaker!

I'm thinking about getting the HTC One but I want to know what changes Verizon's made to the device. Hardware and software changes. I currently have the Galaxy Note II and I'm disgusted with what Verizon did to the phone. Removing the WiFi toggle and replacing it with an ongoing WiFi notification that can't be disabled, removing Blocking Mode, putting their ugly logo on the home button, and making completely unnecessary changes to UI.
nothing to the hardware i dont think.
the software is raped with verizon stuff, per usual.

All Verizon's bloat can be wiped out with root and a custom ROM, and it is so easy to root. Just download rumrunner, find your build number, right click in a exe file and let it go.

Think again. VZW deleted the FM App, but even if you reinstall it, you'll find that they also disabled the ability to have the headphone cord act as an FM antenna.
Result: instead of listening to any FM station in your location at no charge, you can run up Verizon data usage by an app like TuneIn.

Yes us s4's on Verizon are locked down. But we get to play around with some Roms due to Safestrap recovery. Last question. Anyone know the off contract price of the One? Only one I can find is from release day.
