Hello everybody, i would like to know how i can format my extended rom ?
Thnaks all,
no ideas ???
install resco file explorer then use any application to show extended rom, then open file explorer Tap and hold your styles on extended rom then select format .
"do it in your oun resk"..
you do know that extented rom is where the cab files which are auto installed after a hardreset are located and you should gain nothing from formatting it that you dont get from just deleting the files manualy
other then they will not auto install after a hardreset
which may result in features like camera and gps and 3g video calling may not work any more
i can't because when i try to deleteit say me" you cant delete, check if file are not protected..."
you asked for format ,, deleting is something different,i dont know how to do it ..
ok, i just want to go back at the original configuration, how can i do ?

Hello i have need from someone who want to make me a favor and help me.
Im ex Blackstone user and i move to Android.
I did some updates etc and i lost all my contacts from the SIM card and everything.
THe good news is that i still have on my PC a PIMbackup.pib file but its made like binary one..
There is a chance to get my contacts back!!!
WHat i need is someone with WinMo device can do it for one minute.
Just to run Pimbackup on his own Device and to restore the Contacts from the .PIB file i will provide
After this is done just re Backup them again BUT in normal mode without binary etc
in this case the final .pib file will be able to transfer it to a zip .csv file and Put all the contacts back in my SIM card via Gmail
So if somene want to help me will be really thankfull for that its emergency.
The other variant if someone do not want to use HIS device is to do the same procedure with a Windows Mobile Emulator but i don`t know how to work with this and make it to work on my desktop PC i already try several hours to set up everything but just not working
Thanks in advance
Hi
Try rename pib file to zip and open with winrar.
atm im jumping between different roms while waiting for next cm release. i also use whatsapp. everywhere on the net its is said that WA is supposed to ask me to restore previously made backups. BUT IT NEVER DID!
does anyone know how to restore those backups? or better: whats the problem with ace/WA? i have tons of backups, but could never use them-.-
things i already did:
- install, then add backup
- put backup into sd, then install
- searched here and found a tool that was supposed to show the chats in browser (and it failed hard (XD), what doesnt matters, cuz it doesnt solve the problem)
these chatts dont contain highly important information, but it would be very nice to have them back
thanks in advance
hmm me use whatsapp too.. as long as i remember... i never make backups.. but after switching roms.. it always ask me to restore from backup or not.. dunno either..
there is a possibility to manually make backups of WA chats. i saved the folder, flashed, put the folder back, installed: nothing happened

i switch roms often too. and whatsapp.. well it does ask me to restore from the backup..
u could try an alternative - use titanium backup to backup the application+data.
that way when u restore from titanium, u will have ur messages back.
i dont need titanium for that. the files it rstores the chats with are at /data/data/com.whatsapp
i had an old nandroid backup (stock rom), extracted those files, copied them in their place (see above) and it "worked". i dont get asked to restore, but the chats are "just there". and you cant tell me this is normal. this is only possible if you are rooted. afaik no stock rom is usually rooted
but even the official wa help states, that ONLY the folder on SD card has to be copied to new device/new rom and it should work. WhyTF it doesnt do it for me?
€: sry fogot that: the nand-BU is old as hell. the chats i want to restore are from a rom already deleted/overwritten so restoring via titanium would be a bit hard (cuz theres no backup of that rom. there was no reason for that)
Can someone where the backup works, can tell me if you have a ".crypt" file or not?
seems that "my" WA cant read its own encrypted DBs -.-
it worked when transforming the crypted DB into an unencrypted DB
Hi
I've just encountered this problem too, lost all my messages of over 2 years! I too have ".crypt" file but it doesn't ask me to restore it. Did you find a solution? Please say yes!!
thanks

more or less....
WA still didnt accept its own files but try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583021
worked well and i have all my conversations back.
hope i could help
Saw that, and yes it works well. Obviously better than nothing, but not the same as getting them back in the phone. I've opened a support issue with WhatsApp, maybe a future release can resolve this.
cheers!
if you encrypt them with the tool, WA will restore them and you will have youre stuff "back in the phone"
if you get a response from official wa, please share =)

You mean, if you decrypt the database file with the tool Whatsapp Xtract. Yes, that should work.
[TOOL] Whatsapp Backup Messages Extractor
Decrypt, then copy the decrypted file (msgstore.db instead of msgstore.db.crypt) onto the folder /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases, make sure it's the only database file inside that folder and then newly install WhatsApp. It should ask you to import the backup during the process of installation.
Thanks you ztedd, that makes more sense! Are you saying that only decrypted files get restored? That's not the impression the WhatsApp website gave me.

Whatsapp now detects a Backup, but when i hit "yes" to restore it, not a single chat gets restored. :/ Any suggestions?
I copied the file msgstore.db.html from the tool to the database directory and the delete the ".html" ending.
*WORKS: Copy the msgstore.plain.db file an rename it to msgstore.db, then it works!
Thanks!
Hi
i too have experienced lots of problems restoring my old chat from my old phone. I followed your advice below and it worked.
However, I have now lost my new messages that were on my new phone. How do I restore them too?
Please help...I'm totally clueless....Thanks

why opening new thread if old one still exists?
@topic: ztedd postet in his thread a solution to merge 2 databases. i havent tried it myself yet (was posted a few days ago. (well. earlierer, but it had some...problems)) but it looks promising
Apologises if I am incorrectly posting on this forum but as my username suggests I am totally clueless to how this process works.
I do not not how to ask a question in the thread Q&A as suggested and by replying did not realise that I had posted a new thread.
Please forgive me.
Please advice how to correctly use this forum and how do I merge databases on two samsung phones or generally, after having successfully restored my old chat history following your advice, how do I add/merge the new chat on my new phone to the old chat that now appears to have replaced my new chat history.
Thanking you in advance for your help.

Hello to members here.
Would be really grateful for any help with info' regarding my Galaxy Grand Dous GT-19082 running on 4.1.2. I like the phone a lot, and don't like the fact I accidentally deleted the wall paper picker and also the program monitor from the system with root delete app. So I can not use live wall paper now, or the program monitor
As said before, phone rooted, think using/has CWM. Apart from that it's standard.I didn't back up my phone with Titanium back up etc unfortunately. I have tried to see which ROM I am using, but can't find out, even under settings/about device. It must be a stock ROM I guess, as I only rooted it, didn't change ROM.
I have spent/wasted a day and a half so far trying to find info' on the web looking how I can re install these to the phone. Potentially frustrating. I have looked for the apk files but could not locate.
I am fairly basic with my knowledge on this techie stuff, so if anyone can explain as simply as possible and step by step. I would be most thankful. If I could pay somebody to do it, then I would probably be keen, just want my phone as it was again...
Thanks again, and respect in advance for any helps/info' and advise.
Sincere regards, Alex
Recklessly deleting a few, seemingly unimportant system files could have as destructive consequence as having to reflash your whole firmware via Odin. That means you have to backup all your apps and datas. What firmware version are you on currently? Maybe some guys here can help extracting the files from the firmware package you mentioned, or else you might have to download the whole firmware (mind you, it's huge) and flash it via Odin.
Hey Naufalhadyan, Thanks for the reply. Yes, was reckless and kind'a stupid deleting the files.
My firmware is I believe 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

1. Boot into recovery, Volume UP + Home + Power
2. Select Install zip and choose this zip file - View attachment apps-update.zip
3. Let it install
4. Go back, select Wipe Cache
5. Go to advanced, select Wipe Dalvik-cache
Alternatively, extract the zip, mount your /system and copy the apks included and set their permissions to rw-r--r--
I couldn't find an exact apk that says Program Provider, so I'm included both possible ones.
Apks included:
- ApplicationsProvider
- SecLiveWallpapersPicker
- SecWallpaperChooser
- TaskProvider
All above apps are extracted from 4.1.2 XXAMF7 firmware directly.
The zip file will copy and replace the above system apps. Clearing cache and dalvik-cache will let your phone upgrade apps but no data will be lost, without it you might get Force Closes.
NOTE: Please make sure you back up your data before-hand, just in case
Hi Iceyhotguy,
Much thanks to you for the zip link and what seems like straight forward instructions.
I have spent a while trying to add the zip. When I go into recovery mode, it says it can not mound sd card. I have even payed for the premium version of CWM now, thinking I could add the zip this way, which I think I can, but again in recovery mode, it can not mount the sd card, which is where the file is download to. (I think)
Have downloaded the file straight to the phone aswell, but no luck yet.
I guess I have to install manually some how, you said ''Alternatively, extract the zip, mount your /system and copy the apks included and set their permissions to rw-r--r--'' . If you could be so kind to talk me through in baby steps (as I don't really understand this way) how I can do it this way, seeing the recovery mode way is not working for some reason.
Close,but not quite there yet.
Really hoping to fix my mistakes of accidentally deleting file soon, guess it's a good lesson, and I am learning more about this kind of thing, so not all bad.
Hope to hear back from you, and/or other members soon.
Thankyou,
Alex
Spent ages trying to fix my phone, and research online how I ''copy the apks included and set their permissions to rw-r--r--'' can't do it, getting frustrating..
Also I read online that using CWM as a recovery is not needed on a stock ROM and the error message in recovery 'can't not mount sd card'' can happen with stock rom and CWM....
Would really appreciate some help to fix this. Thanks:good:
Managed to try change permission with a root explorer program, though it says some files do not allow permission change, so seems I can not so this either

Reflash the CWM for 4.1.2 with Odin from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42349036&postcount=1
That'll fix the sdcard issue. If it doesn't try putting the zip file in internal memory.
I explained how to copy bootanimation file here in steps and paste it back in /system/media with setting permissions : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46010766&postcount=2
The same principle will apply when copying apks from the above zip file, take all 4 apks, and paste them in /system/app folder then follow my post above to set permission.

Thanks a ton man, this worked for me and now I re-installed Live Wallpaper APK. Could not install via any root perm enabled file manager. Sumit pointed me here, thanks to him too.
Hello there,
I bought a LG G3 D855 16GB, rooted it and once I tried to backup with Titanium Backup to my external sdcard, I noticed I had no write permission.
I´ve followed this thread to get the permission --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617921
After reboot, I can no longer save anything to my internal storage (cannot download, can take pictures but they won't save, can't run some apps and so forth).
But...If I use a file manager (root explorer, ES file explorer) I'm able to copy files from external sdcard to internal storage.
Besides that, after messing up with platform.xml, I can't connect my phone to PC with MTP method nor PTP.
What have I tried, so far:
1. restore backed up platform.xml --> problem persists
2. replace platform.xml with original from someone else --> problem persists
3. Hard reset --> problem persists
4. Use LG Flash tool to unroot and replace firmware (.tot + .dll) --> Didn't work. Tried with files from different sources but always ended up with "model information check fail"
5. Use LG Flash tool 2014 to unroot and replace firmware (.kdz method) --> Didn't work. Tried with files from different sources but always ended up with interruption during s/w upgrade.
I've been playing/reading about this issue for around 3 weeks and still haven't figured out the solution. I do think it is something simple that I'm missing and I hope there's someone out here who can point me to the right direction. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance!
anyone?
Come on fellows,
there's no one to help me out?
No clue at all?:crying:
problem solved!
Just to let you guys know, my phone is working again.
First I tried lg support tool but it also did not work. Then I performed (again) a Hard Reset, but this time using buttons combination (vol- and power). After this hard reset, I restore apps with Titanium Backup and everything is working fine!! :victory::victory:
Will play for I while with the phone and on the weekend try the unroot methods (.tot and .kdz) again to see if now they will work.
