Android system webview not able to enable it .. its updating if i keep tapping to enable .. any solution.?
Thnks in advance ...
I have an Honor 6X but ran into the same issue. Chrome is used as the default WebView implementation. In order to use the Android system WebView, IIRC you have to disable Chrome; once you do that, the system realizes Chrome is not available and defaults to the system WebView. IIRC the system WebView is basically a cut-down version of the Chrome engine anyways, so it shouldn't make a huge difference to leave Chrome as the default WebView.

I am just a little confused.....
IMHO Android Webview was not included in CM, so i installed it manually.
Now i see this change:
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/154784
So, is/was Android Webview included in Lineage OS?
Edit: Sorry, the question is not correct:
Is Web View in Linage OS actuall? Or is installing the Google Webview recommanded?
Default seems AOSP WebView but you can install from Google playstore Googles and change via: Developer Options >> WebView Implementation.
See here as well: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/help/aosp-webview-vs-t3604143
There were a few comments on these forums which mention that by changing the following in build.prop, native call recording is enabled:
persist.sys.oem.region=Overseas
...change to...
persist.sys.oem.region=CN
...or change to...
persist.sys.oem.region=IN
When I changed to IN, the About Phone in Settings reports that the system is H2OS version unknown whereas it was earlier OOS 4.1.6 (screenshot attached). Other changes are as reported (...recent and back buttons interchange, home apps search link is changed to Baidu etc) but thankfully, native call recording is enabled. Strangely, the system update still reports that OOS 4.1.7 is available for download.
Can anyone please explain why the system becomes H2OS by this small change and what other changes to the system could occur because of this?
So whenever I restart my Galaxy Tab E SM-T560 tablet it goes back to using the AOSP WebView even if I changed it to Google WebView on Developer settings. It didn't happen before, I even uninstalled com.android.webview from ADB and its still showing some old WebView version (I can tell by some CSS styles not being applied).
I'd appreciate Any quick help since this is for a Kiosk device
I have a s20 plus that I debloated (Google and Samsung). Since I don't have Google services, I cant update webview normally.
Tried downloading the APk file from apkmirror and install, but the apps that use webview simply crash. How do I update?
Just in case if anyone is wondering, here is how I was able to install webview.
You need to first install the trichrome library then the webview. Make sure both the library and the webview are exactly the same version and for the same architecture.
Is there a way to change the default file manager app without rooting or using custom rom? Xiaomi file manager has so many ads and i want to change it to google files.
i think you can remove - some of the - the ads by going to settings and disabling the "show recommandations" - chinese for show ads
there's a lot of those toggles in miui, also in the security, browser, search in the miui forum there was a guide on where to find them all.
or easier, just go for a custom rom
im not to sure you need to set it default, just install the google version from google play and open that insted of the xiaomi version.
youcant really remove it since it's ibstalled as a system app.
