hello there the community,
just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has a similar problem and found a fix
a friend of mines had an argument with his missus and she attempted to bend and break his mi max well it only slightly bent a little but was still working ok the screen is intact have stripped it down and checked the mainboard all the cables and no issues that i can see but the device refuses to charge it simply boot loops over and over when connected to either the charger or the PC sometimes i can get it to show the charging icon when connected to a PC but it never shows it actually charging and stays on 0%
the only time i can get it to connect to the PC and be recognised is in fastboot and have attempted to rebbot this way as well but it still just boot loops over and over, have not attempted to reflash a rom as of yet as the MiFlash tools also refuses to recognise trhe device so i am at an impass and am hoping there is a solution to be had besides throwing the thing in the trash
any moderators please close or delete thread thank you
The charging circuit board is demaged but I believe at least one phrase (of two) still works. If he didn't depleted battery totally it would charge slowly when it turns on unplugged! Now it needs to charge charging circuit bord. Tell him not to push much the ear plug while lousing up the back cover or he will also need to replace it. Let him use clip & only slightly gently push with the headphone jack. You can find complete disadembly guide on iFixit.
Best regards.

Okay Fellows, after i had a Serious Problem due to the -30% Battery **** (When the battery is under 30% of Load then you are Unable to Flash Via Fastboot etc)
My HOX stopped to Boot and i didnt Knew the Battery was that Low.
Fullwipe,Factory Reset KERNel Reflash,Nothing helped.
And i Really had no other Option to find a Solution for that.
i finally Installed the latest RUU but i had to open the Phone
Please Be Sure You have some Technical Skills (I dont have them Really)
I Show you How to Charge the Battery Without a Need of Original Charger or Custom Recovery
You Need a Usb Cable wich you dont need anymore!!! +++ A Computer Fan with Tiny Thin Fan Blades!!!!
And (Depends on how you do it) A Soldering Gun.
Look at the First 2 Attached Pics to see what i mean
I Opened the HOX with a Fanblade of a Computer FAN ,because i saw they Mostly Use Guitar Pleks.
So i Broke off One tile of the FAN and it Worked Really Good, for the Dissasembling Tut Plz Search here on XDA
After i Opened it i tried to figure out how i could Get Over that -30% Problem
My Solution:I Soldered the + and - Wires of an Standard Usb Cable directly to Two Places Inside!! of the Battery.
You need to Unwrap the Black Coating around the Top of the Battery,to get to the Little Battery Board!
Then Search for the Two Silver Plates wich you can See on the ThirdPicture!!
And now Be Carefull
I Soldered the Usb Cable To the Two Shown Thingys.
The Plus Wire To the left side
And the Minus Wire to the Right.
After that i Connected it to a LG Usb Charger, because it has less Ampere than the Original HTC Charger.
I Waited for around 1 Hour and Checked Several Times if the Battery gets Hot etc,but it was Fine.
And Then i Unsoldered the Usb Cable.......VOILA
I Was Able To Flash the Latest RUU Again and it didnt Showed me that The Battery is Under 30%.
I am Not Responsible if any Damages happen to your Phone if you Follow this Little Tut.
Be Carefull and Think about it before you do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I said to do this the other day in someone's 'my phone won't charge ' thread.
Have to do it to my Wi-Fi router all the time. It gets so low then won't charge by normal means.
The main thing is not to overcharge the battery, they have a tendency to vent.... With fire. A Voltmeter is handy.
Thanks for the tips!
Hi yes it is Risky
But i wouldnt give these Hints if they where too Risky
As i Wrote in the Tut i Checked the Battery Several Times, and it dont needs to Stay over a Long time on the Charger
Its just to Get Over the 30% Battery Load to Bring the HOX Back.
No Problem
Edit:
Look at the Attached Screenshot if you Wonder if my Method Harmed the Battery or something
Go into fastboot and reflash the stock recovery, and relock bootloader. Then you should be able to charge while off and then you can run the RUU.
Man.
On a non-working rom, you can charge your hox in the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen. You dont need to use other battery.

Can't you also charge via the pogo pins on the back right hand side? Then you don't have to open the case.....

Hello
I was on purity Rom 5.4.3 and franco kernel for some time now, with no problem at all.
Yesterday before going to sleep I did put the phone to charge, when I woke up i saw that it wasn't charged at all...
after searching in XDA i found the "hack" to lift the usb port with a fine screwdriver, and it helped. the guy said also to afterwards reboot the bootloader, and here started the mess...
after rebooting bootloader and then the system, directly after the bootanimation the screen would go black and the full battery with the flash sign would show. like when charging the device when power is off...
this would happen each time I tried to boot, or to go into recovery. The only stable state was fastboot, but from there on nothing would go.
I tried to go back to stock with GNEX toolkit but it wouldn't recognize the device while in fastboot, and on the screen in the last line was written: fastboot command read error -2147483647
In the meanwhile my device is off but plugged in. It's showing me again the charging symbol with the flash and the full battery, then swithcing to the charging animation for 2 cycles and then back to the full battery with the flash. meaning it's not really charging.
Also when i try to boot now, it's passing the bootanimtion, but while still at the end of the bootanimation, i can feel the phone vibrating before powering off, and i get also the message that i should connect the device to a charger...
Anyone has an idea what to do?
Thank You
Edit: now I somehow managed to boot, had 2% battery left but it wouldn't charge. so i tried to re-bend the usb port inside the phone like before...now the usb plug won't fit anymore, can't manage to get it inside..bended it too much? wrong? I'm getting crazy here
I'm not any kind of electronics technician, but if I was going to guess, I'd say that sounds like some kind of short in the micro USB pin. If that's the case you could take it to a small electronics repair shop and see if it can be repaired or replaced.

Yeah i didnt even got the solution yet .But i notice that problem doesn't occur when charging through pc but it charges slowly.I also tried factory reset and even battery calliberation but nothing happened.i will take my phone to care...
HTC desire 816, ! mark while charging.
Experiencing same issue. Tried different charger, no help.
I dont prefer pc charging as its slow and phone discharges quickly.
Any workaround or any solution?
Sounds like some fault in the battery circuit that is limiting charging current. I think a PC uses anywhere from 100 mA to 500 mA but a charger or USB port wired to AC outlet can use 1 A or more. I wonder if advanced wiping of cache and formatting internal data would reset it?
are you using Customized ROM or Stock..?
Did you ever figure out a solution to this issue? My phone is doing this exact same thing and it's super irritating.
I bought a new battery to try replacing it and see if that helps, but I am not a phone tech and don't know about taking the back off of this phone to replace the battery. Hoping someone might have a different solution or at least tell me that changing the battery will in fact help (and then I'll go to the trouble of doing it).
ETA: My phone hasn't been rooted or anything. Was working completely fine. Still works fine except for this charging issue.
It's not that hard to remove the back cover. The plastic is very durable so you can't really break anything. I think there is a youtube video and a few descriptions here on xda. Basically you start @ the SDcard slot using some sort of pry tool to pop the plastic cover off as you go around the phone. Just beware that they use a lot of sticky tape on the bottom half of the phone so it takes a bit more effort to get the cover off. I used old credit cards for my pry tool. Some cut up into strips and other time a whole card to break the sticky tape connection.
Charging Problem
i am having same issue since last day....
i tried full wipe and installed a new ROM and it still having the same issue....
i m out of warranty and any way to fix this issue other than HTC official service..?
I have the same problem. Did anyone find a solution? Would a battery replacement solve this frustrating problem?
Hi,
I have strange problem and I think it's from the main board..but I just need experts opinion first, so may I could solve my problem without changing the full motherboard and save some money
my tablet working fine but I can't charge the battery, when I connect the USB cable it shows me the battery status 100% !, and the device instantly powered off if I pulled the USB cable from it.
when I noticed that I did a simple trick, I completely removed the battery and connected the tabled directly to the charger, and it shows me the exact same status, I could even power on the device and use it with out battery inside, just counting on the charger, and the device still show me the 100% battery statues
At the beginning I thought the problem is from the battery it self, so I decided to buy new one, but the same problem still exist. so....I think my main board is working fine but with a simple issue...it can't detect the battery.
so my question is...do I really have to change the main board completely, or I can just fix it by replacing a small part...like the battery port or something like that??
Same problem
My husband has the same problem, his tablet only works if the charger is plugged in. As soon as you pull out the charging cord it shuts down, but when you plug it back in it reboots and works. Tablets are mobile device yet he cant move away from a plug
Everything else about our 8.4 Pro is wonderful, even at 3 years old so we'd like to find a fix. Any solutions?
what recovery says ????
Hey, so, some days ago i found this device on my workplace. No one claimed it, so i took it home. After having a closer look, the phone is in terrible conditions. Back panel is totally shattered (it even has a hole in it) and is almost glue-free. Front glass looks to be good, screen dosent seems to be cracked or damaged (i cant tell for sure) and charging port seems OK. I tried everithing to turn it on, but the only thing i get is a red light, only when connecting the phone to a charger. After unplugging it from the charger the led is still on, so it might be software stuck. The battery is OK, i measured it with my multimeter, voltage is 4.2V. I tried disconnecting everything exept charging port, but still nothing. I totally dissasembled the phone to have a closer inspection, and it seems to be all right. No water damage, no dirt, no flexing on the main board. I also tried connecting it to my PC, and i noticed that the phone tries to do something, but it fails half way. When i connect the phone, on the first 10 seconds, nothing happens, but after that, my pc detects a new COM port (COM4). Its detected for 5 seconds, and then it dissapears. That is what happens indefenetly. Nothing, appears as COM port, disappears. I tried using Xperia Companion, but i got no luck, since phone dosent turns on, and it also wont get to the bootloader/fastboot. I also tried to connect to the COM port with PuTTY, but i dont know what baud rate to use, and also, its a very short period, so i dont think there is enough time to establish a connection.
What else can i try?
put in fozener 2 days and take out to power charger, it work for me
Probably the battery is broken in case it doesn't charge.
If you are bored, avoid all the hassle windows gives and try to make use of the USB thumb drive equipped with mAid that can be found here
Sorry, but Windows is still a ***** sometimes
