[D855, Stock MM] Phone only does something without battery & while charging - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bought a used and seemingly working D855. Could start/restart and use it just fine. At home I turned it off and now it won't turn on again. No notification led, no vibration, nothing.
If I take out the battery and plug in the charger the screen turns on with the usual charging screen and the exclamation mark. As soon as I put in a battery the screen turns off and it doesn't react to anything anymore until I take out the battery, regardless of if the charger is plugged in or not. I actually have another LG G3 and switched batteries, they are both charged and not the issue (both work in the other phone).
The dead phone is on stock MM (I think 30n), not rooted, no recovery yet. I haven't used it yet so it was completely on stock, not a single non-stock app installed.
I am completely puzzled, since I can't get into recovery/factory reset or download mode or even get a bootloop or something like that. Any ideas?

Won't power on

Hey guys, I'm having a problem I thought you might be able to help me with.
I had my phone hooked to the charger. When I went back to it a few minutes later, the phone was powered off. There was also no charge LED lit either.
Now, I am not able to power the phone on at all. I get no LEDs when I plug it up.
I have tried taking the battery out several times. Has anyone else ran into this issue.
Also, I am not rooted, I am running on stock software.
You don't get the slash screen or anything?
Have you tried to get into recovery via adb?
We're you rooted / custom rom name?
You sound bricked
I do not get a splash screen or anything what so ever.
This phone has never been rooted. My original phone was, but after an issue with roaming and 3g I swapped it and decided not to root the new phone.
I have tried powering on with the volume button down, but still nothing. My pc does not recognize it at all when I plug it in either.
Also, I have tried 3 different charges and cables as well.
I had the same problems. I just weighted and mess with the power button and the battery. Steps that I did
1. hold the power button for like 5 second w/battery on phone
2. than while holding the p/button took the battery out and than put it back
I did this like 5 time, than it came on.I don't know what it was luck or what but it work for me. All of this happen before I rooted the phone.
Didn't work
Thanks for the input though.
It might just be dead. Maybe a power surge or something. idk.
Well, I finally got it working. It ended up being the battery. When it messed up, it was plugged into my g19 keyboard. This ended up completely draining my battery.
I swapped batteries with my friend to verify this. It than took over an hour to charge my battery to the point of the Orange led comming on.

Desire DEAD!?

Hi having a little problem with my phone, ive taken it to a few shops and neither could fix it.
ill tell you what i did, i s-off'd my device and it worked well but i didnt like the joker boot splash so i reflashed clockwork mod recovery in hope it would get rid and it did, then i wanted to partition my SD card but realised you couldnt do it through that recovery so i went back to the alpharev recovery! partitioned my sd card and flashed Defrost 6.0k which id had running before the hd rom i had on, i then rebooted my phone and it got stuck in boot loop for some reason? i removed the battery booted into fastboot and it just came up with a blank black screen so i removed the battery again put it back in and tada no power? no led when on charge? any help would be appreciated!
How long have you left it plugged into the charger for? Leave it for about 10 minutes and see if you get any joy with the led.
If that does work, you may have the USB brick. I'm just clutching at straws at the minute though!
i have left it on charge all night still absolutely nothing
Do you get any response when you plug it into a computer? Can you see it using adb?
Me too...
My Desire stopped also working today. Practically same symptoms...
In my case the origin is different, I was on Adamg Oxygen 2.0.1. and loaded the latest kernel from Thalamus 2.6.37 R5. All good, the phone was working for a few hours without issues. Went to sleep and left the phone charging (as usual).
This morning the phone was off, no way to turn it on. No led on charging (probably because batt is full). I can see the leds (green/orange) when on charge and batt off, but it doesnt start, no way to force start to recovery (power+vol-down), no view from laptop via adb, in fact it doesnt even identify the device, which I guess is natural if the device is not starting.
Needless to say that any ideas are more than welcome...
I'm not an expert but it might be dead battery aswell, no idea why people leave their phones charging all night long.. i charge my Desire from about 10% to full in like 1 hour.
u need to take out the batt an see if u can charge it whitout using the phone to charge it
First, thanks for taking the time to reply...
For reference, the batt is full, I checked it with a voltimeter and it is good.
I discharged the batt a bit as well, but so far nothing works...
So not a problem with dead batt...
Ive tried charging without the battery in too, no sign of life!!!
For further reference in case anyone is interested.
Battery is charged (tried with another mobile which started without issue).
I also used the batt from another unit in this "dead" one and same behavior, i.e. no turn on, etc.
Only behavior I can easily replicate:
Phone is off, no charger, batt is removed. Now I place the batt in and connect the charger, the orange lef comes up as if it were charging.
When I press the power button (or the VOL-Down with Power), the led goes off and stays off, the only way to go back to seeing the orange led again is to again, remove batt and charger cable, and then putting again back the batt and the charger (in that order).

[Q] Potential battery issue? Samsung freeze

Current issue: The phone won't boot. It goes to the Samsung boot screen, and then nothing else happens, the lights along the bottom don't light.
When plugged in with the battery, the charging battery shows up with the little animation but that also freezes, and it never makes it to the point where you have the green charging indication.
History: I have had some dropsies, and the result is that I now have a refurbished phone about 2 weeks old. At one point they shipped me a brand new phone, so now I have two batteries.
I thought this would be a great thing! Having two batteries solves the fact that the Epic's battery life is so awful...compared to more recent phones.
I had been using the stable version of Cyanogenmod 10 posted to the cyanogenmod website.
I pulled the phone out of my pocket, there was no juice, no nothing. Thing would not turn on. I had at that point misplaced my battery...no idea where it was. I plugged the phone in and nothing happened, no change to the phone, no lights, no nothing.
So...
I did a ton of Odin and eventually got the phone up and running again. I was using the most recent Cyanogenmod 9.
Phone had no issues for about a day. I was going to bed, so hooked it up to the charger and went to sleep. When I woke up, it was frozen on the battery charge screen, no charging animation, no green battery, just frozen.
So now I can't do anything. I have Odin'd back to stock about a dozen times. I have used my stock cable, a blackberry cable, and my Nexus 7 Asus cable. Each time the Odin is a complete success. I've tried with no battery, no sim card, sim card no battery, battery no sim card, etc.
The reason I think it MIGHT be a battery issue is as follows. When I Odin with no battery in, the phone reboots to the Samsung screen, the lights at the bottom flicker before it goes dead. I'm assuming that since the phone won't work without the battery, it looks for the battery, doesn't find it, and turns off. Then when it goes into the charge screen, it animates before it turns off finding no battery.
I now have both batteries and have tried this millions of times. I think it's a battery issue. There must be some charging going on when I do plug it in, because now both batteries work in the phone. And neither will go past the Samsung screen with no other lights.
Help!!!

it might be the end of life of your phone. i got one a few days ago that was doing the same thing, i could get it to boot run for a few minutes then it would freeze and id pull battery then id have to restore the kernel and boot images back to get the phone to boot again.
Does it stay working on stock? I remember a problem a while back posted here where it would only work on stock but not on any custom roms for some reason

It won't boot into anything right now. I'm only trying to flash stock. It freezes on the Samsung screen.

Phone wont charge at all

Okay, so after I had my phone for a while I decided to root it using unikernel and twrp, everything went smoothly and the phone was fine, about last week my phone stopped charging, I plug it in, and only MTP shows up, no charge indicator, okay, so I decide to do a system restore, stupid me forgets that I turned on the FRP lock and I get locked out, after 2 days of trying to find the firmware to flash back to stock I finally do so, problem is my phone STILL wont charge, It is now dead so I cant even turn it on without it turning back off on me, I plug in the phone and I get that grey battery symbol with the lightning bolt in it for a couple seconds, and then it turns off, it only shows the battery, no percentage, no green glowing circle at the bottom, no red LED light, just the grey battery and then shuts off. Everything works fine only problem is it will not charge, I ordered 2 official cables off of amazon and tried both, no cable will charge this thing, but odin still sees the phone and can flash it. sometimes when I plug the phone in it'll show the grey battery, and my pc will acknowledge the phone, and then say that it malfunctioned, in device manager it lists the phone as an unknown device (device descriptor request failed), I have windows 10, with the latest android SDK, I have the latest Samsung mobile drivers installed, I tried everything I can think of, Ive looked everywhere for a similar issue and cant find a thing
Sounds like the usb port maybe damaged. Do you have a wireless charger you can try? The battery may be bad is the other option. Bad batteries are warranty claimable. Take it into sprint and see if they will replace it.

LG G3 D851 won't turn on!

Hey everyone,
I was using facebook while my G3 was charging and it suddenly turned off and since then it's not turning on. I've tried everything I could but unfortunately nothing has helped. There is no display and it seems like my phone is dead. A positive note is, when I put it on charge, display comes for just 2-3 seconds and it shows the phone is charging but then it disappears too and nothing happens. One of the repairman suggests that it's motherboard is not working anymore but to this I disagree cause if that was the case, the phone won't show a display even for a second? Please if anyone could help me. Thanks!
DId you try leaving the phone on a charger for a few hours? Maybe the phone needs a new battery?
Yeah I've tried 3-4 new batteries too, still it doesn't work. But one thing that's happening now is my phone is turning on, but it reboots (or turns off sometimes) when reaches the home screen or just before that. Same is happening when I enter into download mode.
