I have been using my G3 with the following chargers.
1. CAR - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.312.b3nISV&id=19923741183&_u=r5ljepd1b56
2. HOME - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.298.b3nISV&id=2030530342&_u=r5ljepdfb71
For the CAR charger, the phone keep asking me place the phone in center of Hot Zone.
Or will charge for a few seconds and stops, and charge and stop...repeat.
For the HOME charger, it ask me to place the phone in center of Hot Zone, but once message disappear it charges fine.
I tried a long time and can't find the perfect spot.
Can someone point me to right HOT ZONE on the phone??

Hi, the same thing keeps happening to my g3 whenever I try and charge it wirelessly.
Just to ask did you buy one of the budget qi chargers?
I bought one for £7 on ebay, thing is it charges my Nexus 4 perfectly fine, just can't seem to get a good angle with my G3.
The price was the same as the link I posted. Around 30-40usd each. The charger is fine with my nexus as well just not g3.
Seem to me as though the charger coil on the g3 back cover is very small that is causing the issue.

Yeah I took the cover off my G3 to see if I could see any hint as to how big the coils were or where they were placed but couldn't really see anything.
Did you actually buy your chargers on taobao? I wouldn't trust anything on there to be of good quality.
Maybe the G3 has trouble working with cheap chargers, the proper LG one's i've heard work really well.
I was thinking of getting a better charger, perhaps one with 3 coils see if that makes a difference..
Yeah I got it directly off taobao, there wasn't a good selection of charger when I got the nexus. And especially it was so hard to find a good car charger.
Guess I have no choice but to get the official lg one now.

I have the same problem with a generic circular one. If the screen is on, the message about the hot zone pops up. If the screen is off however, the charging message pops up. But it does this every few seconds, every time the screen goes off.
If I look at the inside of the cover on mine, I can clearly see the coil layout (you have to look at an angle, under a light) The coil I see looks about the same as a standard one.
The issue, I think, may be down to the NFC coil being in the same location. Qi is supposed to detect foreign metal objects such as keys & coins, and will turn off if they are detected. Maybe the NFC coil is interfering with Qi and the official LG charger has been designed to overcome this issue.
I haven't been able to find the official charger at retail.
Here I have found it on Taobao, the price is pretty steep though about 50USD.

I got the official charger but same problem for me. Says its loading but when the screen goes of it pops back up. The charger is working fine with my Nexus 7. Anyone who solved this problem yet?
I also have this problem with a premium charger I bought for my note 3. Keeps on telling me to put it in the hot spot and then won't charge. Looks like another problem for the g3 and I'm beginning to wish that I'd kept my note 3
Please help
This is my second try to get an answer to this question. Does anyone here have a us LG G3? The reason I'm asking is I have seen two different charging pin locations one is the international one which has a space between pins 2 and 3and the Korean version which has no spaces between the pins. I want to buy a charging cover and don't know which one to get so hopefully someone here can let me know. Thanks in advance.
i thought only me have this problem.
im using official LG G3 charger WCD-100, while charging the G3, sometimes charging stop for a second and continue. happen so often. the wireless charging notification annoy me, not sure if charging with random disconnect will make the battery life cycle worse
when charging my nexus 5 with the same wireless chager, the charging went smooth, no disconnect happen
i check the back cover and clean the pin, nothing changes, still got random disconnect

Same here (WCD-100), those alerts are just annoying. Is there any chance I could disable it?

I do not have the phone. But there have been pictures posted of the T-Mobile and AT&T version which show the space between the pins.

Disable the alert with Xposed and G3 Tweaksbox. You can disable the slow charging notification and the hot zone message.

wireless charging alert keeps popping up
Hi to all!
I just got my new LG G3 phone and starting to familiarize its usage. Though one thing I can't figure out is the wireless charging indicator pops up every after 30 seconds or so. Is there any configuration I can set to disable this?
Thanks!
Chris
I'm using a generic charger from dx (the round black one) and positioning is sensitive, but it does work and doesn't keep popping up asking me to reposition it.
I also have a round puck charger and and also one of those Lugalake qi chargers with integrated battery. UK phone.
In both cases the G3 just sits and whines about positioning. The puck thinks it's charging and the battery level increases but the back of the phone gets very hot so I don't think it's 100% right. A hot zone, for sure.

Exact same problem. I am currently using G3 Tweaks Box to remove the annoying notifications that pops up every now and then, but no solution to the actual issue of the phone not charging consistently. Not sure if its the phone or the charger, but am currently thinking of swapping to a better charging stand (the WCD-100 looks pretty inconsistent with the premium look of the phone, plus I'm using a black G3) and hoping that the charging issue would be resolved.
I have the LG WCP-300 and I get the placing message as well, but it charges the phone without any issues. .
my lg g3 is stuck on a boot loop on start up i got this after upgrading to lollipop and didnt even try of flashing custom roms. i flashed it back to kitkat stock rom but this didnt solve the problem. the interesting fact is that the phone boots without any flaws when connected to the official charger but not with other android chargers with lower capacities so i'm really tempted to replace the battery i want to know whether this is happening due to a faulty battery

Is it not normal for a battery to malfunction while being charged with the incorrect current?
Why are you discussing the same subject in two threads? Was it necessary to open another?

It does sounds like a bad battery and having a lower capacity charger would indeed not work if your battery isn't giving out enough power.

The other thread wasn't his, he just posted in it.
Same subject but he had to create another thread, of his own. Priceless justification.
Turn off the phone. Charge it to 5% at least and then try to boot without charging. If it does not work, your battery is faulty. If it does work, stop using that crappy charger for booting on an empty battery.

well it shows 85% charge but still in a boot loop
i recently had the same problem where my phone randomly rebooted. It got worse and worse until it just looped on the reboot sequence. However the phone worked perfectly while attached to the mains. I took it in to the phone shop and they did a factory reset which made no difference. They said it was a software issue and to send it back to LG to get fixed. I thought that if the phone worked while plugged in then it must be a battery problem so i ordered a new battery from amazon and that has fixed it. I am now trying to get LG to repIace the original battery as it must be faulty and is only a few months old.
if your using a wrong charger with a different power output than the one suited for the phone then the battery might malfunction, and might not start the solution for this problem is to get the battery replaced and use the charger that came with phone in the future.
Hello everyone! I own an LG g3 intl. version, and it takes 3-5 hours to charge fully. If I use the phone whilst charging, the charge never goes up. A few months ago, the phone just took a maximum of two hours to charge from 0-100, even if I used it when charging. I'm using the stock wall charger and cable. I also tried using other chargers of the similar capacity and different USB cables, and the result is the same. Is something wrong with the USB port on my phone, or anything to do with the cable being damaged, and only the stock cable can transfer high currents? Also, I'm running cm12.

Is it so? I will try flashing back to stock and check if the problem persists. But why is it that the ROM would cause this problem?
Bump please

In my opinion charging on CM12 isnt stable
When i had it on my D855, the phone would heat up if i tried to charge it turned off and it would have the same problem that you have if i tried to charge it turned on

I have an unlocked and rooted H815 G4 (international version) for about 5 weeks now. Yesterday was the first time I let the battery drain to 0%, and when I tried to charge it it would not charge. It just shows an indication that it is charging and currently at 0% when you press the on/off button, but no matter how long you leave it charging the 0% does not change and the phone will note start up.
I have tried overnight charging, 3 different chargers (including LG cable), tried to startup with Vol down button, etc, no luck.
Any ideas?
Change your battery, that will be the cheapest fix. A new battery usually comes charged and you should be able to start the phone. Then see if you are able to charge it, if yes then the battery was the problem, if not it could be a bigger problem with the mainboard. No warranty for unlocked bootloaders. That sucks.
Edit
Try a store that has the phone on display, ask them to give you a charged battery for a few minutes to test it.

this is because the lg g4 has weak solder on the usb port, eventually it wears down, im on my 4th phone from tmobile now because of this. (no i havent been rough with the charging port on any of them.) my suggestion is to get one of those wireless charging kits to circumvent the crappy port.
I mistakenly reported I had tried the LG cable in the initial post. I had not! I tried it now and finally it worked!
How can I edit the title to add [SOLVED] ?
My H818P is freaking sensitive to USB cable quality. It simply doesn't charge if I use a crappy cable, even with the stock charger.

So I noticed my battery mod doesn't charge when attached to my phone and the phone reaches 100% the mod just says waiting for phone to charge and it never switches to charging mod unless I unplug the charger and plug it back in. It's damn annoying having to use to chargers over night one for the mod and one for the phone.
IIRC when I bought the phone and mod it used to charge the mod once the phone was fully charged withouth having to unplug the charger and plugging it back in.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Are you bootloader unlocked? Do you run any custom kernel/rom? What carrier? What firmware version? Did the motomods app update? These all would be helpful in finding out what the issue is.
Im with Verizon and completely stock and locked. I just get the OTA updates from verizon. I haven't messed with unlocking phones since the Evo 4g from Sprint. I'm far behind lol

Yes, this. You need to be "quick charging." I forgot the crappy code Moto/Lenovo did in the kernel.
I use the one that came in the phone with the box and it still does it. So I bought another Verizon charger to charge the phone while the stock one to charge the mod. [emoji848][emoji848]
Anything that could be causing this?

This is really weird, since when you are turbo charging it should charge internally & mod batteries together and not even wait for first one to be completed...
Yes at first it would charge both at once. Now it just charges the phone while the mod says waiting for phone to charge and once the phone reaches 100% it doesn't switch to charging mod unless I unplug and plug again. Maybe I should call Verizon but the call centers and the reps are all incompetent.

I've been having the same issue since updating to Oreo. Moto Z2 Force, T-Mobile, stock/locked/OTA. Luckily the battery mod I have has its own port, and plugging that in will also charge the phone (though it's annoying because I have to remove the bumper case to get at that port).
I've also noticed a few other annoyances since updating to Oreo. The projector mod no longer appears as having a battery (I guess its internal battery is now only used for the projector itself? either way, I can't every see its battery level). The Moto Mod tile in the notification panel no longer shows battery percent when a battery mod is connected.
Wondering this too my last z2 I never could get the projector to charge while charging the phone Even though many say it does .. then I asked welll why the independent charge port on the mod itself ...
They projector mod dies rather quick...

some of the mods only charge with their built in ports, i came across one, i forgot the brand, but i returned it. make sure yours is made to charge through the phone. i think mine was missing pins on the side that touches the phone, my current one isn't misising any pins and it charges through the phone
