how to make sure please , i thought the market is a trusted source 1!!
aw, you've downloaded it from the PlayStore. It used to work if its bough. Check the games topic and see which games and their versions are working for your device. I'd suggest you to use Chainfire but you said that your tab isnt rooted.

If your device is new I suggest you not to root it before you know what you are doing. Rooting your device will void your warranty. I suggest you to ask the people in the store where you bought it if there is some problems if you do so (I did it this way and they said its fine if I dont brick it myself). If you think you know enough to proceed there you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197 . Also I suggest you to install custom ROM because its way faster then stock OS. There is other way, check the topic for games available for A101 and check if the version matches with the one you've downloaded from PlayStore.

yes it's new .. i will wait the warranty to end , after that i will root it ..
but please ,, i have some questions , i hope you will answer me..
1.. you advise me to install a custom ROM as its faster ,, doesn't rooting include installing it ? or rooting is a step and installing a custom ROM is a separated step which i can ignore ?
2..the topics you gave has a lot of firmwares which one to use ? how do i know ?
3.is it true that with rooting i can download paid apps for free ?
i know this is far away from the main topic , but i need to know every thing about rooting , as it a little bit confusing me ..

1.First you root your device by installing Special Developer Edition of android called also SDE and then install the custom rom over it. Your device remains rooted with the custom rom.
2. The firmwares are just firmware versions released by Archos. Download the latest one and all the files with the same number for the correct firmware. If you like to proceed ofcourse.

anyone willing to add me on skype or some chat for guide?

through the rooting process? ive been using blackberry phones since 2005. and in october i got xperia arc s. but all these things are new to me, flash, kernel, unlocked bootloader, etc. And Im scared that Ill ruin my phone if i do it on my own. So anyone willing to help out just pm me your skype and Ill add you. thanks in advance
and what confuses me the most is that there are so many ways to root the phone, some oneclick and other stuff.
Go to the stickys and read the guides, if you can read you can root.
thanks for your reply but this community seems to have a huge lack of understanding for new android useres
MsihoB where do you want to start?
Im not the most advanced user but I know how to root my phone (with out breaking it) so what do you want to know?
Essentially all you need to know about rooting is that it allows you to install certain apps which need elevated permission to perform some tasks.
I mean if you stumble upon an App in the Playstore which clearly says that it needs root access and you really want the app then root your phone. If not there isnt too much point in doing it.
Although rooting is probably the most interesting thing for you at the moment.
Kernels. Basically allow you to overclock/underclock your phone to run faster (of course that depends on the kernel etc)
Bootloader. Ive got my problems with that too at the moment. Mine is locked and cant be unlocked unless I pay for it (which I do not intend to do) and so I can not install custom firmwares on my phone.
Custom Firmwares are things like Cyanogenmod (google it), There is a Cyanogenmod 10 for the Arc S which brings Jelly Bean (the latest Android version which isnt officially supported by the Arc S) to your phone and adds some neat features. Its well worth getting it but of course depends if you really need it.
Flashing. Flashing really just means installing (in simplest terms). Essentially you can flash a firmware or a kernel.
If you need any more help ill be happy to help as much as I can.

Yes you can update it...... But you will lose root.
I need to clear some thing for you, rooting does not give you access to download apps free from Google Play. So you should remember that also. I am saying this because you said so-

Oh and please don't post links to cracked apps or wares sites. Mods are very strict about this. If you are unhappy with stock ICS, just go to the development section and check out some custom ROMs. And please be patient - JB is coming in May.

For that, you have to flash a pre rooted rom using flash tool.... If you are planning on upgrading to ICS firmware, no need of flashing pre - rooted rom.. Every ICS firmware on Xperia S can be rooted easily (1 minute work).. So update you phone using PC companion or flashtool and then root it...

Root is completely different from jailbreak...
There is no jailbreak for Android...
In Android JB means 'Jelly Bean' aka android 4.1

-No theres no reason to tick repartition unless you're flashing a 3 part firmware.
-im pretty sure it doesnt have to be carrier locked
-jb update for us was a disaster :/
You thought pretty wrong. Many people left xda because of the community :/

Nice one, JB, is running smooth and quick, after reading about a ram hack on this site , which has increased my max ram to 624mb instead of
a mere 482mb I was left with after updating to JB, so for now I shall play with this until I get bored then it will be time to bite the bullet and come into the light and join the ever growing community that believe in freedom.... thanks for your help Teddytsen

I've got to agree - I bought mine from Value Basket, advertised as an EU version but the IMIE is for a Singapore carrier and because of that I can't unlock the bootloader, hence I'm stuck with a fantastic phone with good, but not brilliant firmware and no way to flash my favourite CFW's.

Easy there! That's not how things work around here. Also, it's not that developers wouldn't try. People worked on it and may still be working on a solution. Maybe, next time you buy a new phone, make sure you don't spend hundreds of dollars on a device you can't unlock or where it's uncertain whether it'll be unlockable or not. After all, you're a "flashaholic".
Shameful post(op)

I feel your frustration, though (misguided), you need to read a bit about unlocking the bootloader for many of the G4 models.
You are not the only one that feels as you do. You certainly do not need to be rude about your frustration, furthermore blaming people on XDA is wrong. XDA users had nothing to do with locking the bootloader.
BTW you are correct there is a donation thread somewhere. Why not learn how to develop and be the one that could do what no other could:good:
There are enough rant threads already out there, no need to keep this afloat.
PS thanks for being a member of XDA and I look forward to your development
I tired to find way to unlock bootloader for H815P

No need to see into the future. You just need to think harder. LG is known for locking down devices. Why bother with the risk of ending up with a locked down device? Besides, I'm not dragging you anywhere. You just like the feeling of being the victim. Get a grip already!

Well see I know that lg lock some device's I have had a few lg device's g3,g4,gflex2 and now just made a MISSILE out of the g4 because sick of being told that there may be a unlocking available for the g4. I all so sick of people saying that the only root for g4 is root injection it would not work for me so now only got my gflex 2. So very soon I will look at the g4 again now knowing what I need to look for.
The way I see it with out boot loader unlocking there is no root for the g4........ok ranting over good night

Well the root works really well, though you have to be using L. Even xposed works with flash fire, so really its not a big deal. If they at least root M I will be even happier.
Of course unlocked bootloader would be ideal but I am happy with root.

Why do you assume I don't know about custom roms? I do know a lot and tried many of them on different devices. Some are great some are buggy.
Truth is LG rom is very stable and with root, exposed, launcher I can get it very close to pure android experience. So root is still very important.
Don't get me wrong, I still want an unlcoked bootloader.
Unlocked bootloader will extend the life of the device.
