Sasmsung S8 AKG earphones doesn't work on OP3 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Got S8 from work and want to swap around them from S8 to OP3, however the microphone doesn't work, any solution? Works perfectly on other phones that I have tried. Any solution?

me too
I have two S8 earphones, one of which works well. Strange......
(Package earphone 1ea, separately purchased 1ea. same model)

I think it is some driver issues, however don't know till i flash something custom.

You can also try to push the pin further, sometimes that causes an issue.

[Q] Some wired headsets aren't working

I was using the Klipsch S4A's (the Android version of S4i's) just fine with my S3 but realized when I switched to Shure 315s (I bought the phone adapter cable by Shure), the mic would not work, and also the phone call would still go to my phone, even with the ear set plugged in. I have quite a few ear sets lying around, so here's a results round up:
OK:
Tjays Four
Klipsch S4A
NOT OK:
Ajays Four
Shure 315 (well, the adapter cable anyways)
Kplisch S4i
ALL of these headsets worked with my S2.
Does my phone have a problem?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this.
Thanks.
Ken
I just realized my Klipsch S5i don't work with this phone, I'm bummed. So the S4a works properly, mic and everything?
coming from galaxy S , i find that samsung jacks is not universal , even some top end brands like grado , bose headphone doesnt work well
be sure to check compatibility issue before you get any headset , not all work perfectly on samsung jacks

Yes, S4A's work bit not s4i's.
Cheers
I have the same problem with my Klipsch S4i and Sennheiser mm30i, how annoying! All work fine on my HTC desire, S2 just not S3.
Thanks
Ron
The mic from my Ultimate Ears 600vi isn't working either.
Works fine on my HTC Desire and Nexus S...
This belongs in accessories

Ugh, same here. My UE 600vi's worked great on my Galaxy Nexus, but now my mic doesn't work on the GS3. However, the center button still works.
I can confirm most i-Phone centric mic'd headphones (especially the ones with 3 buttons) aren't working. Myself I have a TDK EB950 that exhibits the same characteristics - works for music (the middle button only), fails at calls.
Now using a Belkin Universal mic adapter (single button) with it. Works swell no issues.
I suspect the impedence difference is messing with the part that reads the button signals.
my 600vi is a little bit different
my UE600vi works fine with galaxyS2 but not with S3.
funny thing is both earphone & mic works fine when I'm call someone.
but when i RECEIVE a call (when 600vi plugged in) , suddenly my GS3 works as if there's no earphone. (sounds and mic works from the phone, not my 600vi)
i really can't understand why,, i'm using Korean galaxyS3 though. Asked samsung about this, but the reply was "go ask logitech!!!" lol
Since the S4A earphones work, I would assume that the S4A (II)'s will work. If anyone has purchased this new revised set, I'd like to know if this is the case, I might be purchasing some soon.
I have a pair of Audiofly AF45M's that work great. However they do not have a three button remote in-line, only one button for answering calls/pausing/skipping tracks. The mic seems to work well, none of my calls have complained and the few friends I asked said my voice was clear even in noisy environments. I must say that they are the best in ear headphones that I've owned (well should say that they're the nicest pair that I've bought compared to freebies). I know this isn't a thread for IEM reviews but I only mention it because from what I read on head-fi they are a brand new company out of Australia and are making some great products.
I had a pair of Ultimate Ears 350vm's from Costco but I didn't even make any calls with them because I didn't like the sound quality compared to my Audiofly's. So I returned them, the volume slider and the push button seemed to work, but cannot comment on the microphone functionality.
Right now I'm using a pair of Brainwavz M5 (also have the M4) with mic and one button and they work perfectly fine. Also tried the Shure 215 with mic cable (again the one button version, not the iPhone one) a few weeks ago and those also worked without any problems.
There seems to be a hardware thing in the S3 which cause "Made For iPhone" headsets (most notably those with volume buttons) to not function properly...
True!
I've just tested with my Klipsch Image One and S4i. When I call someone, everything works just fine, mic and end call by the center button.
So it must be a Software issue.
Thanks,
Adler
I have the Shure E215 with the phone cable (single button), and it's worked fine, both with stock and CM10. The triple button cable is wired differently.
You're right. I also have a Beats Studio with single button and it also works fine. But since my headphones with triple buttons also work when I initiate a call it must be a software problem.

Hey curious, can you say which belkin universal mic adapter you're using? My powerbeats mic doesn't work and I'm desperate to find an adapter that will restore that functionality to them on my s3. Thx!

More Headset tests
First off, Thank You all, for all the helpful info! I have a set of (awesome) Skullcandy Heavy Medals, and a set of Skullcandy 50/50's, and also a set of some type of Logitech earbuds, all have 3 button mic's, None work as mic's on My Galaxy S3, They all work as headphones, but if trying to answer a call, they need to be unplugged, and plugged back in, to hear a voice, but still no mic, and they all worked on My Galaxy S2, and another S2 HD Lte, (All on Bell mobility Canada), and also worked well on My Nexus 4. The Oem samsung headset works great, including mic and volume up/down, and answer button. Also I have a set of Skullcandy Ink'd, with a single button on mic, and they work fine on S3 as well. My S3 is an Unlocked SGH-i747M originally a Rogers wireless Canada phone.
Thanks again, and I hope this helps someone! :cyclops:

different music bug

Now my music volume automatically goes down and sometime up automatically and contantly . i tried diffrent but it did not work for me. So can anyone help md on this? Please
Probably there's dirt in your headphone jack..try cleaning it with a q-tip damped in rubbing alcohol..If problem persists then probably either your jack or headphone is fried.
or may be you should change the rom if its custom! it might be a bug!
flash the rom again if its stock rom!
samsung earphone works fine. this problem gets popup when i use high end headphones like sony xb series, house of marly or senh HD202 ii.. but samsung the cheap one just works fine :/
I've had Creative EP630 before and it worked fine, and now for on ear headphones I am using Skullcandy Uproars but they are wireless and they also work fine..I guess the problem is with wired headphones for you..have you tried using the same pair on any other RedMi 1s?

A bluetooth audio mystery. Stutters up close, works well from afar?

Since android 7.1 I can't use my bluetooth earphones with my Nexus 5X. I'm this close to selling up for a different phone.
I can pair my Nexus 5X to my Anker earbuds, but the sound drops out so much it's unusable, stuttering several times a second.
The weirdest thing though; the problem is worse when my phone is near my earphones, like when I hold my phone up to see the screen. When the phone in my pocket or across the room, it works OK.
The problem is also worse when the screen is on than when it's switched off.
Can anyone help solve this? The fact that distance helps makes me think it's maybe a weird bug related how 7.1 manages bluetooth power and interference? A Bluetooth LE thing?
For reference;
It's a Nexus 5X, currently running stock 7.1.2 beta. This problem began exactly after the 7.1 update.
I'm using Anker Soundbuds Sport earphones. It's not the earphones, I've tried another identical pair. They also work fine with other phones.
Bluetooth works fine with other devices; my soundbar, bluetooth speaker.
I've tried rebooting, full factory image flash, every wipe possible.
I've tried Lineage OS, including flashing that aptX mod.
Let me know if you want any more info.
Hmm, I've never had this kind of issue with my BluAudio headphones. Might be a hardware issue :/
Maybe try another modem?
I also have this issue with my Nexus 5x and sportbuds. I have found that Tha way in which the phone is held has a big impact. Ironically, holding it normally is the worst . If I hold the phone by the top, which is very inconvenient, it doesn't stutter at all.

s8 AKG headphones- mic not working with Op3t

Hi all.
I've got a problem with akg headphones that came with S8+. Microphone doesn't work with OnePlus 3T.
It works fine with S8+/Galaxy Tab S/ eveb Samsung Ace 4.
Any1 got a solution? (Huawei headset that i got with P8 works fine)
works for me i use the s8 akg earbuds
Mine do not. I think it it's some compatibility issue. Annoying tbh. I hope someone knows how to solve it
Mine as well doesnt work.
working fine here too
I had the very same problem with Bose QC wired headphones. After some research, I found an article about difference between 3,5mm audio jack used for Apple devices and some Android devices (3T included). The difference is about half millimeter or so in position of microphone (ring? I don't know how to name it) of the jackSo check your model if it's a strictly for Apple use. May be this is the simplest explanation.

Pixel XL Headphone Jack issues with Earbuds

Hello! I am having a problem with my Verizon Pixel XL, it seems that several earbuds/headphones I have do not work properly when used with the Pixel XL.
When using the headphones/earbuds the audio works in the speakers, but the microphone does not work. The earbuds are not defective as the sound and mics work on my Ipad and my Note 8.
I have this problem with (4) different earbuds I have purchased and it does not work on my Pixel XL or my brothers Pixel XL so it does not seem to be a problem with my specific device.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
MIC NOT WORKING:
Samsung ANC Earbuds
AKG Earbuds
(2) other cheaper no name brand ear buds.
WORKING:
Samsung earbuds which came with my NOTE 7.
Beats Earbuds.
Beats solo 3
Also the earbuds/headphones are plugged in all the way.
All headphones and earbuds i have work flawlessly, so this may be an isolated problem.
I do remember one of my older HTC phones having problems with certain headphones. It was along the lines of earbuds with only a mic and one button would work flawless. But the earbuds that ONLY had a mic (no buttons) or earbuds with multiple buttons (volup/voldown/etc) wouldnt work.
i ended up replacing the 3.5mm jack (which included a whole circuit board) which fixed the problem.
Try cleaning it while being careful not to push potential crud further in, and then attempt a factory flash, then i would suggest contacting Google support.
I have tested the earbuds in 3 Pixel XL now, all the same results. I have found oddly that if I do not push the headphone jack all the way in and it just "sits" in the slot without the normal click, then the mic and sound works flawless. However being loose this isn't a permanent solution. Once push all the way in until it "clicks" the mic no longer works but the sound still works.

I'm having the same issue, along with several coworkers so its not an isolated incident. Never noticed this until I got a pair of the samsung akg tuned earbuds. Mic didn't work with my oneplus 3t or pixel xl unless I do that trick you are referencing. I found that if you wait to hear feedback in your headphones and then slowly push it in, they work but only for that time. This trick does seem to be much easier to pull off with the 3t though. I had an old pair of htc earbuds a friend gave me and that mic works fine. As does a pair of sennheiser momentum. Its only the pixel xl or 3t that have these problems.

Not sure if everyone is aware that the pixel xl uses omtp standard, where most phones are ctia. Ctia earphones will not work in an omtp device. You can buy an adapter but that does seem like an elegant solution.

I have heard that. Everything works fine, sound and volume keys, except the microphone. Seems weird that would be the only thing affected. I'll have to look into this adapter. I've literally never heard of this before today and just assumed there was just one standard for the headphone jack.
same here, in excitement I purchased an AKG earphone but the mic is not compatible with pixel XL though both work flawlessly with other combinations (earphones and mobiles and vice verse)
