What should we do to prepare for SD card to Cloud storage?

As it seems that the Us is going to have the nexus this Thursday, what are the exact steps for transferring SD card storage to the Cloud and the actual phone? What is best to store where?
I have music, documents, photos, various roms, apps, and corresponding data to the apps. Currently I have 8g included with my Droid X and a 32g SD card.
I still have space left, but I would rather have everything ready for the transition.
What are the steps that you recommend? Also which cloud for backups and how do you go about it? Is it a google cloud, carrier, or Samsung? How much space do we get? Are they charging for space? Does it back up the same kind of data as an SD card?
The only thing I know is that you don't have access in the subway, plane, or anywhere without a data/wifi connection. Has this been a problem for anyone?

For music, Google Music (I've uploaded my song library yet), but for others?

Google Docs and Picasa work quite well I find. You could store your more frequently used info on device, and the rest is cloud'ed.
Im not yet sure what is best for music and videos.

Photos: I use both picasa and photobucket
music: google music, best hands down
anything else: dropbox and box.net, I use both.

almost same as above
except i only use picasa
and for documents i use Google Office (google docs)
i also have Minus, CX, and tons of other free web storage accounts with 10+ GB on each...
the only problem is.... 3G/4G speed sucks, and it's a PITA to sync anything
your best bet is a good WiFi hotspot, or be near a non congested 3G tower
...in other words, the cloud thing is not as sweet dream as they paint it to be

Yes, 3G/3.5G networks in Italy are horribles :-(

I also use Plex for movies and TV. Best app ever... has an audio/video studder with ICS right now, but it will be fixed in a couple days...

[Q] Sharing paid (legit) apps with other people in family.

Hi,
Was hoping someone could help clear up a question that's been bugging me for a while about Android apps. Right now, I use an Apple iPad for a tablet and have bought quite a few apps over the years from the iTunes store. I can share these purchased apps with my wife who also has an iPad and an iPhone by logging into my account from her phone, and downloading from there.
My question is can the same be done for Android? I have a few apps (mainly games and a few system utilities) that I would like to be able to use on my son's Nexus 7 tablet. I have purchased these apps legit from the Play store, is there any way I can put them on other devices too?

Yes you can you just use the same procedure that you do with Apple just sign in to the play store from the nexus tablet everything will be available from my apps

I did this for my wife. She has her own google account and I added mine to her phone so that she can access my apps and music. When you do this on the tablet you may want to go to the google account settings and disable sync for your email, contacts, etc., otherwise your son will have full access to your info.

Unlimited photo/video storage counting against google drive space?

The summary is my videos were not backing up at 4K when my google drive was showing full (15GB used of 15GB). I deleted some gmail e-mail which counts against the 15GB G-drive limit and now videos backup at 4K. Just a fluke? Will this happen again after I get to 15GB again? Details are below.
About a week before I got the Pixel, I received a notification that my Google storage was almost full (didn't remember the exact wording..... google drive? Google Photos?). No problem as I was getting my Pixel shortly and I would have unlimited picture and video backup from the phone. I got my phone on Thursday the 20th and four days later I got a notification that my google storage was full. I went to Google Photos on a computer web browser and saw all my pictures and videos from the day before were backed up. While in google photos (on the PC), I checked out the resolution of my pictures (click on the little "i" for info button). They were full resolution (4048 × 3036). Then I checked on a video that uploaded. It was only 1080P. I checked the original video on the camera and it was 3840x2160 (4K). I went to the google drive web page and clicked on "upgrage storage" which got me a breakdown of how that 15GB was reached. 10GB for gmail, 5GB for photos, and basically nothing for google drive. Last night after some serious searching on how to bulk delete e-mails from gmail, I knocked gmail down to 5GB which puts me at 10GB used of 15GB for free. I took a video to see what resolution it got backed up as. This morning I see it was stored at full resolution (4K). It makes me wonder if every time my storage gets to 15GB (total between gmail, photos and G-drive) if my videos are going to stop backing up at 4K?

I assume you didn't take those pictures in the 4 days you have had the phone, which is where you're problem lies. The unlimited backups are only for picture and video content taken from your pixel, not necessarily uploaded from your pixel.
I think the new video uploaded to 4k because you shot it on your pixel, while the other ones were from a previous phone?

Of the 5GB of pictures/videos I have stored on the Google Drive / Photo backup, most of that was already there from previous phones. So lets say I had 4.9GB of previous pictures/videos already on Google drive. It was the pictures and videos that I took on my Pixel that took me over 5GB (which when combined with 10GB from Gmail put me over 15GB). The video that I spoke of that was stored in Google Photos at 1080P was taken by my Pixel and uploaded by my pixel. So the new video was down scaled, but the new pictures off my Pixel were not. Then I cleaned 5GB out of gmail bringing my total storage used down to 10GB and made another video on the Pixel. When I checked that 2nd video, it was on Google drive at full resolution. I might just have to wait until I hit 15GBs again and see if my videos start uploading to Google drive at 1080P again.

Can't remove location info from picture taken with Pixel XL

I took some pictures with Geo Tagging enabled. I want to remove the location info from one of those pictures. I can't seem to do it at all on my phone.
Managed to delete the exif data from a Windows 10 box after downloading, but seems like I should be able to do it in Google photos.
Various Google search results say you can but, I don't have the option to on my pixel.

photo resizing problem with android messages

Recently i found that android messages could not send some photos. The error message was "Message not sent: too large." After doing some "analysis" I found the app was not resizing a photo so it would be small enough for transmission, ie, the photos were resized over 1 megabyte.
After some additional testing, it seemed the problem was happening with photos that had been edited by google photos. Unedited photos were resized properly and were sent without issue.
Next I "uninstalled" the app. This in fact only removes updates. The un-updated app was able to send photos that had been edited in google photos. I then updated the app and the problem returned.
Verizon message+ does not have this problem.
I sent feedback via the Messages app.
I'm running stock android 8.1 (OPM1.171019.013), unlocked pixel 2 xl (bought on google store), on Verizon

having the same issue. did you ever figure out the root cause? tx

How did you back up your data? I only receive the error message about image sizes if the picture is taken in the app but if I go into my gallery and share it from there through Android messages, it works just fine.

How did you back up your messages? I am having the same problem. Gonna clear app data.
