Unfortunately, for our device you have to unlock your bootloader everytime you update even with the DE version.. I could be wrong but I believe you'll have to unlock on Lp first and then go to mm, but it's probably worth a try to see if you can skip Lp.
I wrote a small guide here if you want to update to CQI2 bootloader (most recent).

[Q] Upgrading bootloader beyond I747UCUfNJ1

I'm interested in putting cyanogenmod on my galaxy S3, and I've hit a snag with the boot loader version. It looks as if the ROM won't install because I'm using bootloader version I747UCUfNJ1. I've tried using CWM to install a couple of other bootloader versions, but they've all said they cannot upgrade from my current version.
My question is, does anyone have a list of bootloader version numbers? I've read a number of places that I can't go backwards, but I don't know which version I could use to go forwards.
Thanks!
I don't think there is a bootloader that is any newer than the one on your phone.
I would not keep trying to flash bootloaders because if you flash an incorrect bootloader or you try to downgrade the bootloader, this could hard brick your phone.
I747UCUfNJ1 is the latest version, so you can't go forward.

Just bought G4 - Software Update & Root Query!

Afternoon all,
I've just today bought a LG G4 here in the UK.
I am planning on rooting the device using the locked bootloader method. I did some reading and I understand this is not possible with the Marshmallow Update so i am trying to be cautious of that - the phone currently says that there is no updates available at the minute but I know these things can sometimes take some time to filter through.
I am just wondering if the device is on the latest EU software before Marshmallow or if I should manually update it to the latest Lollipop version if there is anything newer?
The software info currently shows:
Android version 5.1
Kernel Version 3.10.49
Build Number LMY47D
Software Version V10d-EUR-XX
Hardware Info just says the model number is LG-H815.
Any advise would be appreciated. The method I am planning on doing is the one where you inject root into your own image you take via Download Mode.
Thanks

The software version is the latest. The way you wish to root it is up to you, but since you have the H815, unlocking the bootloader is much easier method IMO.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Right now I don't want to go unlocking the bootloader and voiding my warranty whilst the device is only a few days old.
Probably will do the bootloader unlock when I am 100% happy with the device.

Need help about 6.0.1 update.

Well I bought my zenfone 2 it's been 1 year ago, and on the end of 2016 I rooted it because I don't had hope on 6.0.1 update anymore since it was full of bugs. I still on 5.0 and now I want to update to 6.0.1 but I don't know how. My bootloader is unlocked and I have TWRP I was planning on flash the stock recovery and then push the update but there is the problem. Can I update with unlocked bootloader? Or I'll need to lock it again then update? I really can't bare with the 5.0 firmware anymore and I need to update. But since I don't have a constant access to a computer I don't want to brick my phone.
Yes, I tried search for tutorials online but all I get is how to unlock bootloader on zenfone 2 on the 6.0 firmware and how to root it..but I don't get none answer to my question so I hope someone here can help me.

Can I downgrade Mate SE back to Nougat from Oreo with a locked bootloader?

Been trying to unlock my bootloader to no avail, but on the other hand, I can't seem to find a stock Nougat rom that I can install on stock recovery. Should I just return this phone, get a new one and obtain unlock code before updating to Oreo? Or is there any way to downgrade back to Nougat on locked bootloader?
Thanks.
I think it's possible with hisuite.

There is service rom that will flash with locked boooader, and one that is nougat. But it will leave you with strange build number. But should allow for dc-unlocker to read your code.
I was unaware that some trouble with reading the code in Oreo existed. But just got confirmation in other thread that service rom roll back helped
Thanks everyone, I ended up returning the phone and getting a new one. Read bootloader code from nougat, updated to oreo and unlocked everything no probs.

no once your boot loader is unlocked you will not be able to do firmware upgrades. while it is possible to trick the phone into thinking everything is normal it will always fail while trying to install the update. i have tried and it never worked. Although once you relock the boot loader even with knox tripped you will start recieving updates normally again.

yes you can downgrade your firmware as long as the bit number is the same. e.g. there is a number ln each firmware's name like U1, U2
these may be found in the middle of the firmware's name. if the firmware you are downgrading to has a lower bit than of the firmware currently installed it will not work. you will have to choose a firmware with the same bit version. thats why always be on the lookout when upgrading to newer firmwares. for me with SM-A325F the highest bit js U2 and most of the resources are for that firmware so im fine.
