HTC 10 GSM SIM unlock - carrier changed factory unlock code? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I just got HTC 10 sim locked to carrier from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH Mobile) with 24 months warranty, and I want to sim-unlock it to be able to use it with another operators.
In order to achieve this, I have tried 3 different unlock code providers online which delivers unlock codes based on device IMEI, but all of them delivered the same 2 unlock codes which doesn't work. All of them claim that those are HTC factory unlock codes.
Could it be possible that this carrier changes unlock codes after HTC delivers devices to them? If this is the case, what are my options to get sim-unlock, but at the same time stay within warranty? Warranty is not voided by sim unlocking , but it is voided by bootloader unlocking/S-OFF. Will flashing official RUU remove the simlock or not? Can Sunshine be of any help in this situation?
Also I have noticed one maybe interesting thing - after inserting SIM card from other carrier, phone asks for the code, but this screen is not exactly what I expected - it requires unlock password, and not sim unlock code. To clarify, let me post some screenshots.
These are the screens I got after inserting SIM from other carrier:

}
and I have seen screenshots from other HTC 10 users on the Internet, whose SIM unlock screen look something like this:
As you can see, screen is not exactly the same ("Type password to unlock" vs "SIM network unlock PIN"), although in both cases 8 digit SIM unlock code is required. "Network locked, contact customer service" text part is the same. Maybe it is related to different SW versions, but also it might indicate something is different with this carrier. I can cormally use the phone without SIM, and also when original carrier SIM is inserted.
I hope someone have an idea what is the issue here, and also how to solve it (get sim unlocked phone).
If it matters my CID is HTC__034 and MID is 2PS620000. Phone is absolutely and completely stock (and I would prefer if it could stay that way if possible after SIM unlock), just official Nougat OTA is installed after first boot via WiFi. Current SW versions screenshot is below:
I would be happy to provide any more details or information if needed.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Djervi

Hello there, I am on the same boat, i receive the same message, android version is the same.
I am from Romania and the phone is locked on Vodafone network.

Hi raziel,
unfortunatelly, I have confirmed that this carrier changes unlock codes after delivery from HTC, so none of the factory codes work.
Since I wanted to stay completely stock and no flags triggered because of the warranty conditions (and also Sunshine still doesn't support sim unlock on this model), I have decided to go non-tech way - found a local inside guy who has access to database of those changed codes from the carrier (which they use to send unlock codes to customers after contract period has ended). It costed me 20 €.
So no fun after all, just a classic inside job ?

[Q] No fastboot mode, Flashtool gives Bad TA Config... help

So I own a prototype AT&T play, the bootloader was unlocked but it was still sim lock to AT&T. I used wotan server to attempt to unlock sim but it was a no go (oddly)
Later I read a post where someone used omnious. So i bought some credits and used omnious and it failed repeatedly, and the error it was giving was "Bad TA Config".
Now I can no longer get into fastboot, everything I do results in a green light instead of blue. Any help?
Side note, I do not have a TA backup for this device.. is this phone permanently screwed?
Also, now when I attempt to use wotan servers unlock tool it says " No IMEI found"...
I searched and found this, don't know if this helps
Your fastboot is locked. Branded phones have fastboot locked.
You will need to pay to unlock fastboot. Find someone who have setool box.

Well you're going to have to ask Alejandrissimo on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17330852&postcount=2
He reply quicker if you ask him on Gtalk.

I should probably clarify, I had fastboot access prior to this issue. Bootloader was unlocked and I had fastboot access, only the sim was still locked. However as a result of attempting to unlock the sim (as it was a prototype AT&T did not have a unlock code for the sim) my IMEI number for this phone is gone, and will not power on and will not enter fastboot mode.
I PMd alejandrissimo but have not had a reply.
Alejandrismmo has a site where you can unlock bootloader (you pay first). The real question was the prototype working on at&t service before. Your xperia play might be a barebones phone (nonserviceable).

I received photos on request from the seller, very reputable on eBay. The images were time stamped for 5 minutes after I emailed him and showed it powering on, powering off, and several photos of homescreens and apps, all showing AT&T in the top right.
Will the unlock-bootloader.com fix my phone bad TA file? Currently it shows up as no IMEI # in several softwares.. and again will not power on or access fastboot.. despite having this before..
Edit: I as on the site you provided earlier and fixing a bad TA is listed as "contact us"....... which I have both through the site and through PM and a gtalk chat invite
Got a hold of Alejandrissimo, this guy is freaking awesome. Fixed my phone......in minutes... this guy was a life saver... Thank you Alejandrissimo...

But now... I have a huge issue... I can't unlock it...
Work with my three SIM not with my meteor.
I got a genuine code to unlock it >>
How to enter code in Samsung ?
Unlock code You can enter in three different ways:
1. Insert foreign (Unaccepted) Sim card
2. The phone should ask for Network unlock code
3. Enter 8 digits NETWORK Code we sent you
4. The phone is now unlocked
If your phone does not ask for the unlock code:
1. Turn on the phone with original Sim card or without Sim card
2. Enter #7465625*638*Network Code we sent you#
3. The phone is now unlocked.
If your phone does not ask for the unlock code:
1. Turn on the phone with a foreign (Unaccepted) Sim card
2. Then enter the following sequence:
#0199*Unfreeze/Defreeze Code we sent you#
#0111*NCK/Network Code we sent you#
#0121*SCK/Provider Code we sent you#
#0133*SPCK/Subprovider Code we sent you#
3. The phone is now unlocked.

My problem is nothing work....and when i try one of the sequence of the third method, it's like they dont work on Jelly Bean.
Please understand that I dont ask for an unlock code
I want to know if someone already try to unlock his ACE 2 under Jelly Bean ? Command sequences don't seem to be the same...
Thank you a lot for your help, I m fighting since yesterday with this issue....
Try to flash MB4 first, use the phone with the foreign providers sim card and enter the code.
After the device succesfully unlocked flash to MC8 if you want.
MC8 is a providers firmware, it's possible they skipped the sim unlock ui, also several USSD codes doesn't work under JB.

e-sim

Anybody able to get esim working on att version? I've seen mixed responses on Reddit but the people who have been able to do it haven't responded with their firmware versions.

Is it only the ATT variant to support e-sim?
My HK version only has 1 sim support. No e-sim support.

All the phones have it to the best of my knowledge but carriers are software blocking them... Go to your settings then status and if you see under IMEI a esim IMEI than your phone has it. The unlocked softwares opened up for me.. the att firmware had it blocked

what do you mean by "blocked"? not showing the number? or greyed out?
mine shows the number for IMEI (eSIM) and IMEI SV (eSIM), but is greyed out.

I mean not letting them be used... On the international phone there's a "sim manager" where u can scan the QR code and do all the steps needed to activate the esim on a carrier... But on ours it's not there
I have F and U1 and the u1 doesn't have the sim manager option in the settings.
I'm sure it's a firmware limitation but just don't u understand why the us unlocked version won't have it.
Has anyone been able to get the sim manager in the U1 version?
I'd also like to know if anyone has figured out how to get e-sim support on the U1 model.

Dialer Codes Not Working

Hello everyone,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (SM-G988U) from Verizon Wireless. I am not from the US, I got the phone from a guy who bought in the US.
I am currently in Romania using Vodafone SIM card (Idk if this is relevant but thought I should give as much info as possible).
The thing is, no dialer code works, *#06# for IMEI code, *#0*#, *#*#88#*#* and all the other ones. It either says invalid code or something like that or "UNKNOWN APPLICATION".
I am running original unrooted firmware Android 11 One UI 3.0 (G988USQU1CTL4).
Is there anything I can do to solve this? And is there a way to get rid of the Verizon stuff without rooting? (like changing CSC or something I don't know I'm not all that knowledgeable regarding this stuff, I just read the stuff posted on the forums)

Not sure if it will work. But try downloading the Google Phone Dialer and see if they work in that app.
I get the same errors with the Google Phone app too.
Codes won't work if the BL is unlocked or rooted.
Happened on my old S9
At least read the whole post before replying , I am running completely original unrooted software. Didn't touch a thing on it.
Didn't mean to make it sound passive aggressive, just frustrated with the whole thing.

I tried 2 variants scan QR code by camera and insert code manually, both same error
Any idea?
That error means the eSIM isn't enabled for your device on the carrier side.
And to dare ask the obvious, did you try calling the phone number and give them the codes it says?
I am not in US ((
If your carrier has enabled your eSIM profile correctly, scanning a QR code (from your carrier) will work. I had the same issue with a Verizon unlocked device. Just ignore the Verizon verbiage and scan the other carrier's QR code.
Thing is if normal factory unlocked pixel, no any problem to add same eSim QR, problem only on this one
If you have a SIM in the physical slot, remove it before you scan your carrier's QR code. Even though it says "Scan Verizon QR code" it will still activate as long as the QR code is valid. If you already used this QR code to activate an eSIM on a factory unlocked Pixel, chances are you can't use it again, especially on a different device.
I suppose it depends whether your carrier uses unique QR codes, or a generic one that only points to the server to download your profile. Either way, the actual ICCID # changes to process a new activation.
I've activated T-Mobile eSIMs on my Verizon unlocked device many times following above, even though it keeps asking for a Verizon QR code.
I'm not sure if you'd have to be in the US to activate, though..

So I had the same issue. For future reference, I just needed to have T-Mobile support add the MEID of the SIm to their system, and then it activated. Pretty easy fix.
Note: Make sure and remove your carrier's sim. When the Verizon QR code request comes up, just scan your carrier code.
