Does anyone know how I can create a ZIP from the rom stock preferably without having root? I have the XT1676 model in hand and the factory rom is installed on it. On the internet there is not a ZIP from stock for this model so I would like to create it so that I can make it available to those who need it

Think of these roms more as a custom rom without any modifications - you would still need an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery to flash it
Use adb to pull the system folder
Create the flashable zip - There are plenty of guides

Hi, I have an M8 which is SuperCID and stock recovery but I want to reflash with a stock rom. Do I need to unlock bootloader and/or use a custom recovery or can I simply use Squabbi's Toolkit and flash a stock ZIP such as the odexed package from @Mike1986? Here

No toolkits buddy.
Yes fully unlock the device and search for a stock backup or a stock based ROM for your model (side note to remember is keep a SuperSU zip file handy and flash it after a stock ROM flash )
T-Mobile ?
At&t ?
Verizon ?
Sprint ?
The more info you provide about your device the better so people can provide the correct steps

Thanks for replying. I basically wanted to get rid of the red text that says you can't turn off Tell HTC etcetc. Turned out it just needed S-ON! :good:
I tried to update to lollipop and root it but to of no avail. I tried to read many blogs and F*pieces but can not get any thing good. I am using KitKiat 4.4.4 14.A.0.157 rooted. I want to download the latest lollipop version and root it with Custom recovery. I do not want any messed with custom lollipops as i do not trust other people easily. If there is some smooth tool method to simply click and run root method , kindly share with me. If it is not possible and the only way to get a rooted lollipop is by using custom messed up lollipop ftf then paste it here in great simple details I am ready to follow this method. Thanks :laugh::silly::silly::silly::highfive::highfive:

1. Using XperiFirm (Xperia Firmware Downloader developed by Igor Eisberg) to download desired firmware from Sony server.
2. Using Flash Tool to create your own TFT.
3. Using PRFCreator (Pre-Rooted Firmware Creator developed by zxz0O0) to create your own flashable zip file of Pre-rooted Lollipop firmware.
You may also need SuperSU Update and XZDualRecovery
On my Z1c Lollipop i become no root access. Not with prerooted flashable zip and not with my selfmade flashable zip.
My Z1c is LB and on rooted .108 firmware. After flash preerooted Lollipop the SuperSu app gives my Apps rootaccess, but the apps mean no root viable. (TitaniumBackup or SD-Maid)
Why?

If for some reason the "downloaded prerooted" method does not work, whatever went wrong will probably also prevent your selfmade zip from working. So I'd try to get the downloaded one to work before trying a homegrown one.

Above said is step-by-step to get flashable zip file only. Install it on your phone as follows:
1. Downgrade to KitKat (4.4.2 is recommended because it can be rooted directly)
2. Install Custom Recovery (Philz Touch is recommendable because I have boot loop with TWRP)
you cap bypass these step if already have Custom Recovery
3. Copy flashable zip file to SD Card
4. Reboot your phone to Recovery mode and wipe you phone (wipe for clean installation is recommended) or format system. DO NOT REBOOT after that.
5. Install flashable zip file from SD Card then powever off your phone
6. Using FlashTool to flash your phone with TFT file EXCLUDE SYSTEM
Enjoy your phone with rooted Lollipop

That method will work as long as You have a root, no matter the version. So You can use the 4.4.4 one with root access too.

When I followed that process for manually creating a customized lollipop version for my phone, It created ftf file. Now moments ago I was excited to follow the FLASH FROM THE PHILZ TOUC RECOVERY, I formatted everything and now my phone cant use FTF file because It needs the flashable zip format file. How in the world i transform my FTF file into FLASHABLE.zip file??? Be quick because I am now going back to root my KitKat; root it; install philz touch and then follow the method you provided. Tell me how to make ftf into zip file?:cyclops::cyclops:

You can use the PRF Creator to create a flashable FTF. You need the SuperSU and recovery too for it.

Hi can you be more specific on what to wipe at philz touch because there are lots to wipe options in the philz recovery, do i have to wipe all? also from twrp's recovery so please be specific what to wipe because im afraid to wipe all that doesnt have to be wiped,
also after installing flashable zip in the recovery turning off the phone isn't an option there is only restart button there so is it alright to reboot phone after installing flashable zip in recovery then just turn it off after and continue to using flashtool?
and last one, at using flashtool ist it the stock firmware that i need to flash? is it alright to exclude all? or do i have to check the wipes there and also the kernels below excluding system only? thanks

Hi, I tried this multiple times, im rooted 4.4.4 then installed dual recovery then from one of those recovery then i installed "flashsable.zip" after installing flashable zip which is in "step 5" you mentioned turning off phone, do i really need to do the "step 6"? because i notice something in step 5 since after installing the flashable zip thru recovery there is no turn off option so i choose to reboot then i noticed i started my phone with lollipop installed and superSU installed, but i still did whats in your procedure which makes things complicated since i thought if i didnt continue to the whole process maybe something might go wrong , so i turned off my phone and continued to step 6, i flashed my phone using the stock firmware of lollipop then what happened is the superSU is gone.
so my main point is do i really have to continue to step 6?? or even just up to step 5 is fine?
if continuing to step 6 is important please be more specific thanks

You have to do Step 6 just in case flashable zip file contain SYSTEM ONLY (include Options were not checked when using PRFCreator).
In Step 6, flash your phone with FTF file EXCLUDE SYSTEM. That mean you need to check on System Option within the box of Exclude.
Folks, we already have a thread covering EXACTLY this question - was it really necessary to open a new one to ask all questions over and over again?
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...lp/rooting-z1-compact-stock-lollipop-t3090021
The instructions included there helped me getting from rooted .157 to rooted Lollipop without touching my locked Bootloader, so they might work for others as well.

THanks buddy. I got my lollipop rooted and working. But there is one thing itching me about lollipop. Even though the camera result looks great in this new OS, but the OS new design theme looks sluggish. I do not feel it is working like it should. I mean a very bad version from SONY. KitKat theme was way more simpler and lighter than this lollipop ****piece. Besides cleanmaster keeps telling me the RAM USAGE around 68%-70% all the time:silly:, even though I applied the same precautions I had on kitkat installation. Kitkat used to run on 70% in heavy usage, otherwise it would run lighter around 46% RAM.
Summing up. Lollipop Version for SONY PHONES, SUCKS

How did you unlock the boot loader on the d855?! Is this a new development or are you confusing bump with a true boot loader unlock?
my phone was already rooted. and I needed to flash a custom recovery. this is what I used

Pretty sure you are still on a locked bootloader. If that is true you need any boot.img you flash to be "bumped". If you want to port your own tmobile rom you could do this:
Find a rom that supports multiple devices
Extract the zip and see what you need to move from the d855 rom to the d851 rom
Download the tmobile rom and move the files
Delete the boot.img
Delete the boot.img out of the installer script
Zip it up
Backup your current rom + efs in twrp
Wipe system, data and both caches
Flash and see if it works
If you currently run kk make sure you use a tmobile kk rom. If you do the boot.img should play nice with the system. I was running d855 system with my d851 boot.img so I dont see why it wouldn't work reversed.

Can we do reverse steps , i mean converting D851 to D855 as we have unlocked bootloader on D851?
Problem: We can download the firmware from Asus in the form of a zip file. We can use adb sideload <firmware>.zip to sideload the firmware.
Request: How can I flash that firmware using fastboot? It looks like I need to use a .img file. How do I convert that .zip file to a .img file?
Reason: I found a situation where using the sideload method didn't seem to work correctly. I ended up having to get a pre-rooted .img and flashed that, but I want a "virgin" img file. Thanks.
If you install zip from ASUS download site (not OTA!) then you will get virgin stock ROM after update.
This kind of update (around 1GB) erases system partition before install, so it doesn't matter how hard you've modified previous firmware. SU, Xposed, etc - everything will be automatically wiped before install.
The question is how do you convert .zip to .img?

tools to build img from zip (only full ROM, not OTA) published there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/orig-development/rom-pre-root-img-t3079590
But keep in mind, it's for advanced users. I would say, for developers.
Thanks. I asked that nice feller if he was able to do such a thing as I'm not a dev or even well-versed in Linux.
What firmware zip are you looking to flash?
flashing system.img was just temporary solution, as the only way to root or modify firmware before bootloader unlock.
With unlocked bootloader and custom recovery you can modify update.zip as much as you want and then install it.
Even if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then you can use temporary custom recovery and install any modified zip.
So, in general you don't need to create system.img anymore. Just use zip to install whatever you want.

Hi,
can you make system.img, pre-rooted or not, like @shakalaca?
I tried but I haven't enough knowledge to do, though I tried to install a ghitub, etc, etc.
I would like to download the system.img fro last firmware, Z00A-WW.2.19.40.22.
Thanks
Hello,
Is it possible for someone to make Stock version of odexed P2a42 S244_170725_ROW, in zip format, ready to flash in TWRP? It think it could be useful for people that want to have rom as close as stock, especially for those with custom recovery, that want to have odexed system, without added anything, and with f2fs file system?

All you need is a TWRP backup with the data partition excluded. I have about 6 days more before my bootloader is unlocked. If no one does it by then, I'll do it.

Well if you do that you will get a restore able zip AFAIK. You need to get updater script and a few more things.
