So basically the title says it all. I installed/charged up the projector mod to test it out. Seemed to be working just fine. Had it running for about 15 minutes, then disconnected it and put it back into it's box. I haven't bothered with it again until recently(wanted to show it off to a friend). Now when I attach it, nothing happens. I let it charge again just in case, disconnected/re-connected it several times... nothing.
The only thing I did notice is while I'm detaching it, there's a green light on the projector itself that flashes several times.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Try cleaning the contact areas of the phone and projector mods, without damaging either, then put the mod straight on, don't slide it on.

A few months ago I dropped my dash and cracked the screen, it still worked, could still dial, could still recieve calls.. just couldent see anything.
I ordered a G1 and in the closed the Dash went.
Well, no I need to add a 2nd line to my account, and I need a 2nd phone.
So I figured I would order a new screen for the dash and just use it. Being prudent I decided to first make sure it still worked, I put it on a charger and the light came on showing it was charging.. ok, good deal..
I let it charge a while, popped in my sim, and powered it on, figured I would make a test call and such.
Well the screen lights up solid white (no suprise.. its broke) and after a few seconds.. the phone just starts beeping the alarm tone.. then it starts beeping it again over top the first.. and again and again untill there is this cacophony of racket, I have to pull the battery to stop it.
it worked fine (aside from the screen) when I "retired" it, but now it just freaks out.
I tried hooking it up to the computer, the light one the phone comes on, but thats it, the PC doesent see the phone.
Obviousley Im rather nervous about the idea of buying a new screen and going through the trouble of installing it on a phone, that best I can tell.. is totally screwed up..
any ideas on what I should do?
P.S. I can post a video of the insanity if that will help.
Have you tried the first natural response when things go wrong "a Hard-Reset" ?
Ok, i tried a hard reset, best I can tell it worked (no visual cues)
it no longer does the funky chicken on start up, but it doesent do anything else either.
I put my sim in it, let it boot up, tried calling it from another line and it just went straight to voicemail.
and if u conect to the pc, anything happen?
2ndly, try removing the battery, put it back then hold camera button and whilst still holdin it press the power button, wait for some 3 seconds then release em and then coonect to pc, check in device manager if anything shows up....
updates......
Check in comm manager if the phone is on or if in flightmode etc.. If not next step is to re-flash stock and see if the problem still persists?
keep in mind the screen is broken, i cant see anything.

Please help!
I have not heard of this one. I have been following the tutorial on showthread.php?t=765496 along with the video and I made it up to installing 2.1 (the blue asterisk) The phone booted, made all the sounds etc, but the screen was completely blank, as in off. I shrugged and after a few minutes i found that it was operational (unlock, volume keys worked etc.) So i pulled the battery and turned it on again.
This time it worked, and ran fine, but it wouldn't connect to the computer. Hmmm I thought and restarted it again. This time the screen never turned on. I've tried it several times and still nothing.
Any ideas? It is not set up to enable USB mode so I cant do any control prompts.
This is really weird
Thanks!
Looks like it has come back to life! I don't know what happened. half a million battery pulls, a reinstall of the PC36IMG file - blind i might add! - and another half a million restarts it looks like I am back int the game.
And its dead again...
OK
That was a very weird experience. Looks like everything is completed now.
I feel bad no one has been able to help you through your troubles.
This is very bizzare, and by the way you describe it, sounds like this is a hardware defect.
If it happens again, IMO I would take it back to sprint but hopefully it continues to work and this annomoly never happens again.
I know there are already a LOT of topics concerning this - I have read through them all frantically, trying to find a solution before turning to asking myself.
So, here's exactly what happened, and what I've tried.
My phone was just fine, running perfectly, nice battery life. I had been running CarbonROM for about 2 months, without any issues, didn't change anything recent to this problem occurring. So one night I was at a party, and didn't have an available charger, so my phone ran out of power completely. The next morning when I came home, I set it to charge, the LED lit up, as far as I remember at least. In the evening I turned it on, and I got to the SIM pin-code unlock screen. I entered the PIN, and my phone turned off. No crash screen or anything, it just went straight out. I figured that maybe it hadn't charged properly, so I let it charge for a few more hours, and then tried again - same thing happened. I instantly tried to turn it on again, but this time nothing happened at all. I held the power button down for at least 1 minute, to no avail. When I put in the charging cable, the LED doesn't light up.
So, as I said, I have been reading around on this forum and other places, trying to find a solution. Some people said holding down the power button and volume up and down at the same time for 2 minutes would fix it, it didn't. I have tried several times. Most recently someone said I should connect my phone to my PC with the USB cable, and then hold down the power button and volume down. This time, something did happen. But not on my phone's end. I have done this 2 times, with the same result. At exactly 7 seconds, my computer turns off, as if I had "choked" it by holding down the power button on the PC. This seems really odd to me, since the phone can't even turn on, so I don't see how there can be any connectivity.
I hope someone here has a solution, knows why it happened, or can at least guide me in replacing any part if needs be. I hope not, though.
Bump
Should I just send it in for a repair? I have an idea that doing so will be very expensive...
Hi. I've got a SMT700 that I purchased new and have used for several years with only minor troubles(Having to reconnect the battery occaisonally) and recently I had a new issue come up I've no idea how to fix. My knowledge on this stuff has extremely large holes in it, so I may have missed something obvious. I've been poking around all week trying to figure it out to no avail.
Anyway, the issue: My daughter was using the tablet and it became unresponsive. I popped the back off and fixed the battery cable(It had come out) and after doing so it flat out refused to turn on. Wouldn't boot in recovery or anything else I could think of. So I plugged it in overnight and let it charge just to make sure, since I wasn't sure if it had had much of one when it turned off. Will not turn on. If you push the power button while it's plugged in, the status of the charge(Says 100%) will blank out and then it resets like I just plugged it in. I've found that if I try to boot it in Recovery, it will come up just fine - if I unplug it, it turns off instantly. If I reset it, it turns off and goes back to the charge status screen as if I just plugged it in. It just has the Samsung firmware installed, I believe fully updated(I rarely check it since the tablet is old and it's literally just used for Disney+ for the kid lately) I'm at loss for what could it causing it or what I can do to fix it. Anyone seen this and able to point me in the right direction? Thanks for your time.
Oh. And I have tried plugging it into the computer, but it doesn't even register as plugged in(Can't do recovery or anything) - that didn't really surprise me, it wouldn't charge that way before so I didn't think it would work.
Hello friends,
I’m new to this forum (or, any forum, really) and in desperate need of help.
Hopefully I'm posting this correctly.
In 2017 (I think) my mom bought a Nexus 5X phone. All was well, until suddenly it broke in 2019 and she had to get a replacement. There were a lot of pictures and videos on there (no SD card was used) that we do not have a back up of. (I know, that’s a big mistake...)
What happened: it just suddenly turned off and didn’t turn on anymore. When I tried to figure out what was happening, the only response the phone gave when I plugged it into my PC was a blinking red led underneath the screen. I figured the issue must’ve been with the battery. After a while, it didn't even do that anymore - not a single response was given.
It took me until 2020 to try to replace the battery with a new one. I think I managed to replace it successfully, carefully using two YouTube tutorials. When I held the original battery in my hand, I could bend it easily, so I expected that would solve the issue. But the phone didn’t give a single response to my efforts.
I also tried heating the phone as instructed in this video (with subs):
Again, without any success.
Since I didn’t want to give up on the stuff that is on that phone (precious memories of my cat who passed away at the end of 2020, for example), I randomly tried tinkering with it again a few days ago.
When I plugged it into my computer again, suddenly the red led started blinking again... And a few moments later, the Android logo lit up. Then the screen turned black again.
I noticed that when the phone was plugged in, my PC made this noise that recognizes something is in fact plugged in. However, it didn’t recognize the device.
After trying multiple times to hold down a few buttons, I first managed to get a screen that said “Firmware update”. It disappeared after a while, and showed a Google logo. I don’t remember exactly, but I think the time after that when I pushed the on/off button, the phone actually turned on and I could use it.
I could see all pictures were still on there. I immediately tried to copy them onto my pc but before I could do that, the phone shut off again and connection with my PC was lost. Battery was charged to about 70%.
I managed to reboot it a few times, but the time it stayed on became shorter and shorter. I wanted to try the debugging method and recover data that way, but it simply didn’t give me the time to do so.
A few days later, I still get the red blinking light and sometimes the android screen or a battery loading screen. Other than that, I can’t turn it on or get into safety mode, or anything like that. It *does* still connect to my PC, but doesn’t recognize the device.
TLDR; Nexus 5X shows blinking red light, doesn’t turn on and if it does, it almost immediately turns off again even after replacing its battery. All I really want is a way to recover the photos and videos that are on the device.
If anyone has any leads or tips that could be of help, they are most welcome.
