Usb cable alternative - OnePlus 3T Accessories

I happen to break my usb charging cable that ships with the phone. Is there any alternative charging cable that i can buy with same dash charge+data transfer capability. The charger is in perfect condition but the cable is damaged. Is there any third party cable that can be used with same charger with same charging speeds. Please help.

I haven't come across any third party cables that support dash charging. Data Transfer speeds shouldn't be an issue as long as you pickup a Type C to Type A cable that is USB 2.0 certified.
Be careful when using a third party cable plugged into the OnePlus adapter as the current across it is no light load.
Recommend you to buy the original Dash Charger Cable on OnePlus's official store or on eBay/Amazon.

I checked on the OnePlus Official Store but it is Out of stock for my Pincode. I was checking through Amazon but couldn't find a genuine one that provides 5v/4a support, there were some but they had only one or two reviews. Please can someone help me find the charger cable that would work with the OEM adapter

**WARNING: Oneplus USB cable might damage your phone and charging device!**

A Google engineer has taken it upon himself to test various USB type-C cables and unfortunately he's discovered the official OP USB cable might damage your phone/charging device while charging by inducing it to draw excess power from the device it's plugged into (PC, wall charger, powerbank etc.)
Check out his G+ profile update for more info, refer to attached screenshot for the part where he mentions the OP cable.
All his Amazon reviews if you want to get another reliable cable to replace the OP USB.
Wow,
so we need a different cable + changer or just a different cable?IThay talk also about RAVPower battery..
Bah, they release a cable that is not compliant to USB Standard......
The original OPT cable is just not fully USB-C compliant. It can throughput 2A, which is the max draw from the OPT, but USB-C is specced for a 3A maximum. As long as you use the original cable not for devices like the Nexus 6P, 5X or the Pixel (which DO draw 3A maximum), the original cable is fine to use with the OPT.

Unfortunately not many people know about this little quirk of the OPT cable and in many usage scenarios people do share chargers with other devices which may draw 3A, damage the charger and any other devices connected subsequently. Oneplus should at least state that it's charger/cable is only meant for their hardware if it's going to put out mono-use cables like these.

The problem is OnePlus were the first company to really push a USB Type C device, there cable actually has the exact same issue. Most of these companies based there design off of the OnePlus version since that's the phone they were promoting them for. No damage will occur unless you have a faulty charger since there are fail safes built into all of those as well. The only items that will even try to pull 3A are the new nexus devices and the Pixel Range. Those devices would charge a lot slower with a USB A to USB C cable anyways so I don't know why people would. These cables are still absolutely fine for data transfer, and they are in fact just like the OnePlus USB-C and Zuk Z1 USB C cable. Saying this I did contact a few of them and the only one that has gotten back so far was Orzly who said they already have new cables in production.
---------- Post added at 08:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
the oneplus 2 and zuk z1 work with all of these cables no problem!
Iam going to replace it with iOrange-E USB Type C, and it is braided!
This is kind of a stupid place to post this.
Maybe post it in a different phone forum that also uses type C, since the cable has no issues when used with the OP2

You're assuming the oneplus charger would never be shared with other phones, some of which might request to draw 3A and damage the charger, no? Please think twice before you type. Thank you.

So wouldn't it be okay as long as we use these cables / adapters only with OP2?
I don't care if it would not be compatible with 3A phones / tablets. My phone is OP2, not Nexus or sth. else. When I have a specific device that needs 3A, I'll surely look for alternatives.

Considering most warranty claims would be denied for not using the OEM charger/cable (there's been a few OPO users denied warranty for this exact reason), no I wouldn't (and don't) use anything other than OEM or specifically licensed accessories.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to continue using your OP2 charger and cable with your OP2.
Good news!!! I just got in my Pixel yesterday and tested a load of new cables from Orzly and the OnePlus Cables and adapters! Bad news is the OP are def out of spec even the adapter! Good news all the new Orzly cables meet specs video is uploading now!

Correct a OnePlus 2 only tries to pull 2.4a anyways so its fine to use with everything only issue is the newer devices that try and pull 3a like the nexus phones and pixel
New Orzly cables are in spec!
So would it be bad for my external battery if it draws an output of 2.1A?

I don´t get it.. Sorry for the question but I´m confused :
Can I use my original Oneplus cables to load my op2 without damaging it? I have only one original oneplus power supply. Can I use the orignal cable with e.g. a samsung power supply?
Thanks!

Yes of course you can. No Oneplus phones or chargers have been damaged by "out of spec" cables. My OP2 charges just fine on the USB3 port of my PC, the PC hasn't fried itself yet.

New oneplus USB cable

Hey Guys ,
It turns out my One plus 2 cable has given up on me. None of my computers are able to detect my device anymore using the stock one plus cable.
When i connect the phone with USB 2.0 cable and an adapter the phone is getting detected easily. So this makes me believe the cable is at fault here. Nothing seems to be broken from the outside. Looks like a new cable.
Found the below ones to buy.
1. Original one plus (INR 3482/-) - http://www.amazon.in/OnePlus-020200...718&sr=8-3&keywords=one+plus+2+charging+cable (Way too expensive)
2. DMG (INR )- http://www.amazon.in/DMG-OnePlus-Ma...718&sr=8-2&keywords=one+plus+2+charging+cable (Not soo good reviews about this)
Are there any alternatives to the stock cable which can be used for data transfer from mobile to PC and also use it with the wall charger ? Need something which is cheaper and reliable.

Get the right Type C cable!

I came across Benson Leung's blog posts for USB Type C cables that pass muster, preferably USB IF Certified. He's an engineer with Google. There are about a hundred or so "compliant" cables but there are probably hundreds more that are not, tons are on Amazon and at Best Buy. One quick thing to look for that good cables have is a solid pin , there is no vertical seam down the middle of the pin that plugs into the phones charging port.

I use both the iOrange-E and Anker Powerline...didn't even read this list before I purchased them.
I do use Anker's Micro-B to C Adapters though and haven't had any issues.
this is so annoying. so I've gotten two USB c adapter he recommended so I can use one with my Samsung charger, which I assume will work no problem. and one ill use in car. but my car chargers are old, and i think quick charge 2.0. so if I use the adapter, will it blow my phone up?? I have no idea. lol ugh. so annoying.

You should check to see if they are Benson's list for compliance. He forced them to issue a recall for one of their products. I'm returning an Aukey 3.0 charging station today that is overheating badly while the 2.0 charging station I have from them runs fine.

Correct I was thinking about this Aukey charger, my mistake. They laid into Aukey hard core. obviously both companies have put out some inferior products with regard to Type C USB standards. we cant give them blank check on brand name...yet.

Heads up, I picked up a couple of cables from Benson's list. One iOrange-E and one WolfBlitz.
Unfortunately the WolfBlitz does not appear to support Quick Charge 3.0. I'm getting a message to use the original LG cable. The iOrange-E cable does not have this issue. Both were $10 on Amazon for the braided 6 foot long versions. I like the braided versions over the stiff Belkin type cables because They are eaiser to keep in my coat pocket when connected to my small 3.0 QC power bank.
I bought a good quality braided USB A to USB C cable to use as a spare for my LG V20.
When I connect my phone to my PC using the cable, the phone indicates "Charging" but it doesn't show up as a removable drive and there is an exclamation mark on the COM6 device in device manager.
Switching back to my OEM LG cable, everything works just fine.
This is the cable that I bought:
http://www.hi-online.co.za/pdp/snug-type-c-to-usb-3-cable/_/A-270091AADG5
When looking at a cable in-store, I honestly don't know how to tell which cable will work and which won't.
Now, I only really need the cable as a spare for charging purposes but I'm concerned about whether its safe for me to continue to use it for that.
There aren't a lot of options available in stores where I live but this is one other option I saw:

I bought the above Kanex USB-A to USB-C cable and found that it has the same problem as the other cable that I bought. My V20 shows charging but I cannot transfer data and there are exclamation marks in device manager.
I researched a bit further after buying the cable and found that Benson Leung has also given a negative review of the cable on Amazon, stating that the cable is not spec compliant.
I really like Spigen products, decided on this.

I got a anker power line c to c. No issues except when I hook it up to my alienware 15 r2 usb c plug my phone will blink back and forth of charging not charging. Might try a different c to c cable and see if its cable or computer

As Bensor and Nathan K point out repeatedly, the USB C spec forbids proprietary fast charging such as QC 2 and 3. USB C supports PD fast changing. Oddly, the LG charger that comes with the LG20 has QC3 but I don't use it, I use a Benson-approved PD charger.

Dash Chargers and Cables

hello, guys!
I am planning to keep my op 3t for its usable life (2 years?) so these days I am looking for correct car dash charger and cable for cheap. I have already have a quick charge 3 car charger and a bunch of Samsung quick charge 3 compatible cables from my wife's galaxy s7 edge.
I have following Questions:
At what pace my qc3 car charger charge the op3t if I use a genuine cable?
do we have some cheap alternate options for Dash charger type c cable and/or car charger?
if I use a USB type c converter for my other Samsung cables, will they perform as good as op genuine cables?
I think the only way to really charge as fast as dash charge does is to use a official charger from their website, other than that charging times will be longer
I recently found a bunch of articles on non-compliance for chargers/cables/adapters, and was curious if these issues were fixed or not. I just bought a pack of 3 micro USB to USB-C adapters, and the amazon page says they include the Ohm resistors built in but I'm not sure they are safe--and won't risk damage to my house or phone over cheap adapters. Aside from the official ones, anyone have insight on good chargers with cables on Amazon or in stores? Don't mean to hijack the thread, but it seems applicable here.
I bought the cable on Amazon and it seems nearly identical, I have not compared them side by side tho, first day left oem wire (that came with phone) at work and have my dash charger at home, about 60 min charge for the day is great.
So the wire I bought from Amazon seems to work perfectly fine and on point with official 1+ outlet dash charger... It was like 13.50 or something.
Well you can check that dash charge works on different cable, when you charge by it you should have Blue led + dash charge info at the bottom of the lock screen

First I thought that it is, but isn't. Since the OEM Dash cable was a bit too expensive for me, I tried this one https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B074H6MGZH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
To be honest, I was only looking for a cable that looks like the OEM one because I was 99% sure that I wouln't get the Dash charge capability for the 10 € that I paid.
Turns out better than I thought and got a bonus. Looks and feels like the OEM and supports Dash charge.

Hey mate, i'm looking at getting this too. Did you have to buy the official USB C cable for it to work? I can't work out what the requirements are for the cable in order to get SuperVOOC 2.0 speeds. Just curious as i bought a standard USB C cable (one in the box is too short IMO) and although I had it plugged into the SV2.0 charger I couldn't get it to charge at SV2.0 speeds
The cable has to be the official one, because it's the only one that has [email protected] Most other cables have 5A. I also looked in China but couldn't find any that has these specs, yet.
I have also bought this charger and it is Super Vooc charger, meaning it is not 2.0 version, I use it with original cable, but the speed difference is not huge, it still charges fast enough.

Sent from my OPPO CPH2025 using XDA Labs
hello
have a nice day
I have some advice for UK residents.
The SuperVOOX car charger its only 7.99 pounds in the OPPO official website, but it seems to be permanently out of stock.
Now, accidentally I found they are selling a bundle of the supervooc car charger + supervooc cable for 18 pounds, I think it´s a great deal so I bought it last weekend and it should arrive soon, heres the link:
https://oppomobiles.co.uk/car-kit.html
The funny thing with this is that the bundle is not listed in the web in the accessories or in any other part, you can only find it if you search for something related like "car" or "supervooc"
I also chatted with them asking about the car charger being out of stock and they didnt tell me about this bundle...

Great find. I’ve just bought a OnePlus 8 Pro wich supports WarpCharge 30T. This is the same as VOOC 4.0 I believe and they are both 5v @ 6A = 30W. Would this charger and cable charge my 8 Pro at 30W? Many thanks in advance.

not sure if it will be any good but the reviews of the product seem to indicate that it is in fact the real deal, i personally need the super fast charging as i drive since it takes me 30 minutes to get to work super fast charging would be ideal.
anyway i have decided to buy an inverter for the car to use the one that came with the phone for now, but it would be nice to have a proper car charger without all the extra mess them wires are going to be making.
USB type-C cables don't have to be OEM but they do have to be the right standard (& the standards get added to frequently so get an up-to-date cable), Qualcom PD/QC is much more common than Mediatek VOOC & they work in completely different ways.
VOOC pulses the power wires to communicate between charger/cable/phone (all 3 have chips) whereas PD/QC communicates via the data wires.
The result of this communication is different too, VOOC leaves the line at 5V & just changes the current [Edit]it seems SuperVOOC can also select 10V[/Edit] but PD/QC selects between various Voltage/current combinations & can get up to 20V.
If communication fails completely the charger defaults to 5V & max 2.1A with the phone deciding how much current to draw.
The previous micro-USB fast-charge standard is different again, it uses a plain cable & just communicates between phone & charger to select 2.4A, 3.1A or 4.2A vs the default max 2.1A

So, any feedback or review?
yes apologies i completely forgot to let people know, so basically the item works well and the phone tells me it is charging at super vooc 2.0 speeds, however I've used the app ampere and its definitely not as fast as the wall plug version but is certainly fast enough, also I'm not using the stock cable that came with the phone as that didn't seem to work very well with the charger so instead I'm using another one of my cables which is a volutz cable, i wasn't actually aware it would work since i bought it for another phone but seems to work really well, so all in all i would highly recommend the charger as it seems to be the best option for on the go and is certainly cheap enough.
