hey guys, hoping someone can help. been using BetterBatteryStats for a few days now to try and monitor my battery drain. I have noticed that under "kernel wakelocks" i get the entry "bq24185_watchdog_lock" and its time over a couple of hours is 25m+.
just wondered if anyone knows what this is and also if this is normal. I am currently using latest BlendMIUI with latest Blend kernel (v9).
thanks in advance

Watchdog is a part of linux kernel which monitors the state of your device. Watchdog needs to recieve a particular event for it not to get triggered.
In human understandable terms watchdog is like guard of your phone. It will reboot the phone if you don't feed it with information so as to protect your phone from total breakdown.
Example scenario is if you installed a program and run it then your phone freezes. Obviously your phone would stop responding thus can't feed watchdog the necessary info it needs so it will reboot the phone to protect it from further damage. So yes it's common I think that watchdog is like that.
brilliant, thank you for your quick response and help

Hi all,
I have been using ARHD ROM for a while now, version 5 for a few weeks and noticed the issue on there first and it still occurs after updating to 6.1 over the w/e. I was not aware of the issue before I went to ARHD but was not using/rebooting stock often enough to find out.
I don't think this is ROM related but am not really sure how to go about working out exactly what is causing it.
Normal working is excellent and battery drain is very low - seems to be about 2mA when idle with no WiFi or Data connections.
After a random amount of time - could be 3/4 days or less than 1 day the battery drain increases noticeably. For me it means that after an average days use the battery would be down to 20% or less rather than 40-50%.
I downloaded "better battery stats" to try and identify if possible what was causing it and it seems to be that the "LocationManagerService" is getting stuck with a "Partial Wake Lock". This prevents the phone from going into "Deep Sleep" so I can see on CPU Spy that the 51Mhz time starts increasing considerably and the Deep Sleep stops increasing completely.
A reboot solves the problem for another random amount of time.
After reboot under normal operation the "LocationManagerService" does not seem to register at all for several hours and when it does operate normally it stays towards the bottom of the "better battery stats" list with about 1s of use, even after a couple of days. When it gets stuck in partial wakelock it moves to the top of the list and refreshing shows constant updates indicating that it is maintaining a partial wakelock.
I have tried searching on Google but cannot see any mention of anyone experiencing a similar problem and as I am sure many applications use the "LocationManagerService" I am at a loss as to how I try and work out whether this is a bug in the service or an application that is causing it.
Apart from rebooting every time I notice this I am not sure how to troubleshoot any further, so was hoping one of you knowledgable guys/devs could perhaps make some suggestions as to how I can identify exactly what is causing this?
I would also be interested to find out if anyone else on any other ROM can see the same issue?
Thanks
Was taking a look at my battery info this morning, when I noticed something very strange (see attached picture).
As you can see, the battery usage graph is there as normal - but there's no info displayed below it with regards to what apps are consuming the battery. Most annoyingly, there's also no obvious way to check the screen-on time.
Any ideas? Anyone seen this before?
I'm running MiNCO v4 with Franco's latest nightly 246, but flashing back to Milestone 5 didn't help. Neither did wiping cache/dalvik, fixing permissions or reflashing the ROM.
I guess the next step is to do a factory wipe, but I'm reluctant to do so because it's a real pain in the behind.
Try to wipe only the battery stats in recovery
Just had this happened to me on Moto Atrix HD running JB 4.1.1ATT original ROM on T-mobile service, rooted, bootloader unlocked. All aforementioned configurations put in place well before loosing batter stats. The only other "fix" I've seen for this was a ROM restore. Did you have any luck fixing this by factory wipe or other method?
D'oh! The per-application battery stats came back at the next full charge. On thing that can throw this off is that some battery meters report 100% at a point when the android system does not yet consider it full and if you stop charging at that point the stats may not refresh.

I would gohead with the factory wipe. Do the job right the first time I say
Before going through all the trouble of a factory wipe, if you have not done this already:
Charge the phone until the native battery information screen says 100% and "Full" (or something other than"Charging"). In my case the native battery information screen and 3rd party battery stats app would react to the event of battery reaching 100% but, at that point although the battery screen said 100% it also said charging (as in attached pic). At this point the battery is not at maximum charge until battery screen says 100% and Full.
That it may be better for the battery not to reach maximum charge each time is another story.

Hi There,
I have searched this and did some reading, but it seems no one else's problem is similar to mine.
I have BBS (BetterBattery Stats) but cannot monitor anything on it.
As the References keep deleting, I mean for example:
Set it to:
Other
Since Boot
Current
This should show information, but it says reference not set.
So I restart, and check again. They show !!! But 5 minutes later, I check again and low and behold, NO REFERENCE !!!
Also, no reference from charged, no reference from unplugged etc etc.
Why is there no references etc?
Thanks !
Just select 'since unplugged' and then plug and unplug the usb cable and it should be fine from then on.
remember to refresh it afterwards/
Tried that, no help.
The only one that works all the time is "Since Screen On" the boot one works for about 3 minutes after booting, then says "no reference" why is it loosing the references?
I downloaded the XDA version (from here ofcourse), moved the APK to my device (using AirDroid) then installed it... is that why? Is there a certain folder it needs installing?
Anyone?!
....I left it last night in the hopes that a charge would sort it.
I went on this Morning and set it to "Since Unplugged" all good !!!
Checked an hour and half later, still showing stats YAY
BUT BUT BUT
I checked after dinner, yet again no REFERENCE
WHY DOES IT KEEP LOOSING REFERENCE FGS!!!
After I updated the to OneUI, the steps floor counts keep counting even when I'm driving.
Recently it shows 9000 steps and 41 floors even though I'm driving.
And when walking normally, I cannot see watch only steps in S Health, so the steps counts is always doubled.
Anybody have the same problems? Or Solved it?
