New phone setup --- help - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Hi Zuk fans,
I just bought Zuk z2, two days ago. I heard like, there are heading issues with this phone. So I would like to under clock the phone. Currently, I'm on 7.o stock..
My question....
1) can I under clock CPU to 1.9 on stock ROM? If yes, how to do that and plz let me know the process and what all required for this.
2) I would like to downgrade to 6.0 as this enables 24 bit dac on our device. So, how to downgrade on a locked and non rooted phone???
3) is there any custom kernel that supports stock OS???
This information might help other new users as well...
Thanks

2) Use QFIL and flash 2.3.042 (China) or 2.0.133 (India).
3) As I know there are no custom kernels which will work on stock.

You can root without any problems.
Don't know anything about underclock, because I don't interested in such operations.

You can use kernel audiutor to underclock

@srihari210 seems that jaguar kernel is working on stock rom, although it wasn't supposed to, but with some limitations, as you can see in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74071330&postcount=296
i hadn't used the stock rom for much time, but you can try to root it (with magisk maybe, i don't know) and set cpu frequencies with kernel adiutor
good luck

But my device don't have any heating issue? It runs on stock frequency 2.15.

What about heavy gaming??? I think it's safe to have 1.9 Freq....

and now my phone some times restart with 5 vibration

You changed 2 things, the ROM and the radio, so in principle it could be either. With these symptoms I'd think it more likely to be the ROM, or the kernel, than the radio. Could also depend on other settings, e.g. if you are overclocking. Different handsets have different tolerances for some tweaks.

Yeah but you changed your System a lot.
A new radio or the Kernel that ships with RCmixHD maybe uses more battery (=more heat).
Try this: install SetCPU, set governor to performance maybe overclock a bit, watch youtube videos and play games so your phone heats up. If it reboots switch ROM and Kernel back to a Stock ROM and do everthing again. If the Stock ROM doesnt reboot you should stick with it.

REQUEST - Flasheable safetynet-friendly kernel

Hello all,
Im trying to play Pokemon while mantaining the excellent Imperium ROM... the workaround I found so far was to remove root and flash the stock kernel (v20g) to play and then just flash imperium kernel back when I finished, but the v20g kernel break bluetooth.
Does anybody has a zip for the stock v20i (imperium is based on this version) to try?
Ps.: Would also appreciate any info on how to extract from KDZ.
Best Regards,
Igor

Hi you may want to look into this ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Magisk gives you the possibility to hide root for certain apps. That could save you much time in reflashing kernels.
Not working anymore
I used this method for a while, doesnt work anymore.
I guess i need to install the bluetooth modules, dont know where to find.
Im ok without root (if i can turn it on with a reboot when needed) but not without bluetooth.
Im more sedentary than I should so Pokemon is kind of important now (previous methods of getting out of the sofa wheren't so effective)
Thanks

Custom rom with deactivated big cores?

Tried search and nothing found.
Is there a custom rom on lollipop or nougat where the big cores have been disabled in the kernel?
I've been using the stock firmware with the 2 big cores disabled for some time and the phone working fine.
Thanks
Looking for the same, mine is H811 and there is no tot file to disable the Big Cores
I'm trying to flash with H810 kdz and install the tot file for the H810 too, i think doing that, i'll solve the problem but now is another problem, HOW CAN I DO IT?! Hehe
Use kernel auditor on any rooted ROM and disable yourself

Imperium kernel has a version for marshmallow with disabled big cores, Titan kernel has a version for nougat. But your bootloader has to be unlocked to use them.

Imperium kernel v7.3c (marshmallow aka v20 firmwares) with disabled BIG cores
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745849072291682063
Flash it in TWRP then wipe dalvik/ART cache, cache and your good to go.

You can on both, it's your decision to make, Imperium kernel is for stock and stock based custom ROMs only.
Titan has a version for stock and another for LOS, AOSP, RR LOS based... etc. BUT there's only three ROMs compatible with Titan for LOS and LOS based for now.

Man thanks you so much!
What i did was, install Stock KDZ (H81120v_00_0425) and having already TWRP installed i flashed Imperium Kernel (KERNEL - h815_imperium-7.3c_4cores_TWRP-flashable) and BOOM! IT WORKED PERFECTLY! Now my phone is living again without bootloop issues!
I think this is the only way to fix H811 bootloop issus:
1. Try to boot your device, at least 1 minute to active Developer Options and inside it active USB Debugging and OEM Unlock, after it turns off again.
2. Install TWRP, and flash 4cores Imperium Kernel.
3. Done! Your phone will be back to life again!

Glad you've figured it out and posted it.

any luck with custom kernels ?

did anyone try to flash custom kernels from Redmi Note 7 Pro since they both have the same chipset ? or i will be bricking my phone ?
if no, then does something like GSI exist , but for kernels ?
i just HATE schedulit governer, and no matter how much i change the frequency with Kernel Auditor or Franco Kernel Manager, it always revert to the max speed again and its killing my battery life
if someone knows a way to limit CPU speed using Build.Prop or something that ACTUALLY STICKS i will be super happy
thanks in advance

Liniage I had installed... fp and dual sim are the major bugs.
Fp does not work. Only 1 sim works default.
Then the curved edge it too curved but there are some overlay patches available in the group.

I mean, would you suggest it? Is it stable? thanks.

32mp camera I think is not there in any custom rom. But if dev's can build the gcam for a70 specifically, I think, it may work.

New Oneplus Owner... Where to Start?

Hey everyone, just got my 7T. I've heard great things about Oxygen, and it seems like everything is optimized. I'm just not sure where to go from here. I'm coming from a LeEco LE Pro 3, and the ROM path has been the only option (android 6 was the last official version for that phone, and we have 10 via ROM now). Is there any reason to try a different ROM on this phone? What about different kernels? Is there any good reason to leave stock? I'll definitely root my phone, but I'm not sure about the kernel/ROM changes.
I appreciate your input!

I like Oxygen very much and flashed arters kernel only for better battery life. I tried the custom ROMs too, but battery wasn't that good. If you are happy with Oxy stay on it. If you need some more feature, take a custom rom. It depends always on what you want and what you like.
I've always been an AOSP guy, but OOS on 7T is good. all you customization you need get be added through gravitybox, renovate ICE. Other than always on display, I don't see what aosp can offer on top of OOS. Last I tried, AOSP had some auto brightness and fingerprint issue. with OOS you still have face unlock which AOSP don't. you can also add horizon lights with renovate ICE.
You'll know if you will like OOS or not.
If you plan on going the ROM route, try Omni or Tresk. I'm currently running Tresk and it's excellent! Better battery than OOS, AOD, better theming, and overall cleaner "Google" interface.

Maybe with Stock OOS, but you will definitely get better battery results with OOS + arters kernel. Even idle drain is less with it. This time Oxygen is very hard to beat.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to stick to stock for now and try the custom kernel for better battery life.

I have not tried this combination. Too many deal breakers for me with OOS so I jumped quickly.
I advice you to flash OxygenOS Open beta 3. It's a bit more stable for my 7T.
OxygenOS already feels like a custom rom, so I don't really feel the need to flash 3rd party roms.

Flashing steps for OnePlus 7T:
(For the first time installation)
Things you will need:
Payload Dumper
https://t.me/treskmod/190469
Bat file that wipes and flashes to both sides on initial install
https://t.me/treskmod/195379
Current Stable HD65AA Firmware on both sides, it has been reported that BA (EU) firmware has issues with FP.
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side A
- reboot to OOS
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side B
- reboot to bootloader
- dump latest treskmod payload.bin using payload dumper
- place the bat file in your output directory, or wherever you decide to keep images
- run the bat (this will wipe, a wipe is necessary on initial installation coming from OOS, after that, just OTA)
the bat file can be modified to suit any particular need.
- reboot to treskmod and enjoy
- root
- either wait for me to to post a patched boot.img, which you can then "fastboot boot nameofimage.img" in fastboot mode, then patch your own, or just make your own patched boot with magisk manager. (make sure preserve avb and preserve encryption are both checked)
- when taking an OTA, once its finished, don't reboot, and have magisk patch the inactive slot, then reboot.
