[NO RECOVERY(erased)___S-on____NO SYSTEM___bootloader UNLOCKED] - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys,i think that i have bricked my phone.
1) i'm not able to run/flash any recovery
2) i can't flash any RUU because i know that in S-on mode the bootloader must is relocked and i can't relock this :
C:\Users\jeremy\Desktop\android>fastboot oem lock
...
(bootloader) [KillSwitch] : /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/frp
(bootloader) [KillSwitch] Last Byte is 0X00, disable unlock
(bootloader) [KillSwitch] oem unlock Turn Off!
OKAY [ 0.097s]
finished. total time: 0.101s
3)i can't enable oem unlock and developer option because the system is deleted, the recovery fail to boot
What can I do? Please help me
There is a way to execute Sunshine S-OFF through fastboot?(obviously paying)

What you wrote only applies to devices that are older than the M9. You don't need to relock for flashing a RUU.
However, it's impossible to get S-OFF via Sunshine without a working system. You might be able to get S-OFF via a java card or an xtc clip, though. (Both are much more expensive!) The good news is that you don't need S-OFF due to what I wrote in the first sentence (assuming that a suitable RUU is available for your phone).

Oh my god yes! My phone not does seem to go in the oemRUU mode
(and he always has problems to reboot in the selected mode using the buttons,so i go to bootloader and next i go to download/selected mode)
and flashing exe RUU with the metod : "file replacement rom.zip" the RUU say "rebooting M9 in bootloader mode"
(in practice it is not the bootloader mode but a white screen with the HTC logo and red writing)
And say "waiting for bootloader" for long time, next say "error 171"

That error is mentioned in the ReadMe thread. I'd suggest you to try flashing the RUU via htc_fastboot or an SD card. (I personally prefer the latter method.) Instructions can be found in the ReadMe thread, as well.

this is what happens https://youtu.be/EHxBPgTzqZU
this time there have been errors,
but even when it seems that the various parts of the ruu are starting flashing(0%) the phone will reboot and the result is the same

I have the latest RUU for h3g devices downloaded from your Google Sheet,my firmware is 3.35.771.12
There is a way to individually flash a particular part of the RUU for having
at least working "oemRUU mode"?

Please check whether the file is corrupted by comparing its MD5 checksum with the desired value from the download site.
If it matches then there's something wrong with the phone that I haven't seen before. (Maybe a new variant of the dying nand?) If it doesn't match you need to re-download the RUU till it matches.
You can extract the single parts of the RUU's firmware with the help of the decryption tool that is linked in the ReadMe thread. The flashing commands got linked in Q8 of the FAQ as solution for the blue screen error.

If your phone has unlocked bootloader and you atleast still can boot to fastboot your phone is still breathing, i recommend you to flash via sdcard here all your files needed
https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....nd-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698/amp/
Thanks for who collected these files. Ciao

maliken333 flash with sd not work for me,please read the previous messages and watch the video.

Why did you decrypt the RUU for firmware 1.32.401.17 and not the one for your current firmware?
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Labs

i'm sure thath the RUU put in decrypter is 3.35.771.12 tried and tried again-->the number in the log is 1.32.401.17(h3g "fake" update?)
I flashed the img files of the RUU( come out of the decrypter) but it did not change anything. Even when i flash the recovery gives a positive result but in practice nothing happens.
Flippy498 strange situation is true?
oemRUU mode not work for me after flashing the images of the the decrypter
there is a button combination to reboot in oemRUU?
trought fastboot every reboots give a white screen with logo and red writes

I'll take a closer look at the RUU. Unfortunately, my download speed seems to be insanely slow, today. I probably won't be able to reply until tomorrow.
Edit: I can't replicate the issue with the wrong version number using this RUU and this version of the decryption tool.

failed to update marsgmallow OTA

hi
i am asking for your help guys as always
i have htc one m9 original stock rom, , s-on, rooted , CUSTOM TWRP RECOVERY. UNLOCKED BOOT LOADER
and my phone info is as this :
kernel: lk
(bootloader) product: htc_himauhl
(bootloader) version: 1.0
(bootloader) imei: 3572260xxxxxxxx
(bootloader) version-main: 2.10.401.1
(bootloader) boot-mode: download
(bootloader) version-baseband: 01.04_U11440601_71.02.50709G_F
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.0.0.0000
(bootloader) mid: 0PJA10000
(bootloader) cid: HTC__J15
My problem is: i can't update my m9 to the latest OTA marshmallow
recently, i received an OTA update marshmallow 6 ( part 1/2 )
version of OTA received is 2.10.401.108
to flash a stock recovery, i extracted the OTA zip file, and extracted its content firmware.zip to get the stock recovery, i fount 2 recoveies, 1) recovery.img 2 ) recovery_signed.img.
is this the right way to have the correct stock recovery ?
anyway, i flashed these 2 recoveries in order to update the new OTA, but no one succeeded, and i got this message on download mode ( attached pic )
is the problem because of incorrect stock recovery ?
how do i get a proper one ?
i tried also this
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZaiJ3F_f76sVa4daU5H62OYi5Bj23LEBBv4xDTQ8y-M/pubhtml
but didn't know which one to take exactly.
also, i tried to give it another shot, i renamed the OTA fzip file to 0PJAIMG.ZIP
and copied this file on both ext_sd & internal sd
but no luck.
please help
The problem is that your system partition is modified because you add su and related files for rooting. You must have an untouched system partition and restored in read only mode to prevent any modifications.
So you need to flash twrp again, restore an original untouched system partition, flash stock recovery and apply OTA.
Yea what he said.. System must be as stock and completely untouched. All evidence of root must be undone to get OTA.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
i see
so i have to unroot first ?
how do i restore an original untouched system partition, if i didn't backup my system !!
hello
Check flippys Google sheet in his thread.
A donated clean image may be there for your SKU and device version...
If not....you may need to RUU back to complete stock and take the OTA that way...g
+1, The only way if you haven't a clean system image ( take a time to read the post2 of Twrp thread) is to flash a Ruu.
It's a "new" Google limitation...
To flash the stock recovery you just need to get the stock recovery for 2.10.401.1 , flash like any other recovery, so with the command fastboot flash recovery *name of recovery*.img in download mode. It should work fine, but do that after you got complete stock system back up which is untouched. Just wipe system and restore the untouched, flash in download mode the stock recovery and you should be good to go

at first be on complete stock rom, i mean stock recovery and system img is restored to stock one from twrp with backup.
then you need to use the exact naming of the zip...like i said everything else have to be on stock settings... no custom recovery, no custom kernel yea everything else stock
I find myself in the same situation and followed all the steps described here...
The results are either Status 7 or Remote 14 or Remote 9
I had a original backup of the system img, restored via twrp, then flashed a signed stock recovery (S-ON), ensured i'm not rooted or modified. The result is always the same...
Maybe i am doing something wrong ?
LE: Managed to get a non corrupted archive (that was causing remote 14 or 9), now i get remote 99 all the time, no matter what i try

wracking my brain , bricked to hell

So iv manged to delete my os and recovery , the only progress I can make is flashing twrp 2.8.5.0 and that's all.
I looked through so many threads its not even funny , tried so many different files older and newer version of firmware just to see if i get an error to point me in the right direction.

No one else seems to be having problems like this
errors iv come across are.
remote 19
remote -2 ,19: failed to flash via download zip
iv tried using the sd card way and fastboot way
the sd card way has become a problem now since my pc wont let my copy files to it ""This device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected."
fastboot method seems to be the only way to get a response from the device or anything to work.
any help what so ever will be greatly appreciated since iv been trying to fix this for the past 5 days to no avail .
May I suggest you edit your original post to delete your IMEI? We don't need it to troubleshoot and it could be abused.
From the information you've given, it looks like your phone is a Europe WWE-based phone on the Optus Australia carrier network. Your OS version indicates that you're on the Lollipop firmware (2.9.710.4).
Windows driver issues are best solved by installed HTC's Sync Manager (link below). Alternatively, you could pull the sd card from the phone and copy files directly onto it - this may be the simplest way to avoid driver issues.
Since you can install (and access?) TWRP, probably the easiest thing to do will be to flash a compatible ROM. As you are on the Lollipop firmware, you can't flash any of the Marshmallow ROMs. Doing so will result in an endless boot or bootloop.
If you want to upgrade to the latest firmware, you could use the sd card method to install the latest RUU. Flippy498's Google Sheet (link below) has a guide & the files necessary to do this.
peace,

I can't help you with flashing via fastboot - perhaps others can.
On the flip side, you could use the sd card method outlined in Flippy498's Google Sheet. That should get you set.

Are you trying to downgrade with S-ON? That's not possible. S-ON phones can only use RUUs which have the same firmware version or a higher one. Besides you could flash the TWRP 2.x version I linked in my sheet and restore the 2.9.710.4 backup with my instructions to solve your "no system" problem. The TWRP version you mentioned in your first post is outdated and with the currently installed firmware you can't use TWRP 3.x since it requests the marshmallow firmware.

I was able to root my phone with HTC Dev. After I flashed custom Recovery (newest). I started disabling apps in the stock room but however I deleted one that was for UI.
Error Home sense stopped
Reset the phone in the menu... same error. I have no backup the OS so I figured that RUU exe would help but the damn setup extracts than closes......
I tried fastboot oem lock because it was recommended to when using Stock rom RUU but that didn't change anything.
Now when I try to unlock my device again I get:

Now my device does not have ANY bootable ROM and Recovery doesn't load up. I'm LOST and this device doesn't work, what can I do?

Really, this should be in the Questions and Answers section.
Try changing the name of this file from to 2PS6IMG.zip, not 2PS6IMG.zip.zip, and placing it on the root of an Sdcard. Then boot into download mode. I'm not guaranteeing the file will work.

This fastboot will work with the 10. That minimal version you have doesn't know how to handle the method HTC uses to pack their ruu. Unzip to a new folder. Copy ruu there. Open command prompt there. Use hfastboot as your fastboot syntax.

I know that OTA updates won't work with custom recovery and a major update came up for my stock rom which does improve camera and such. What would be the best way of installing it?
Some websites tell me I have to re-flash recovery partition but I have no idea how to do this. Is it simply finding the recovery.img and flashing it in download mode? than repeating the same command in CMD to re-flash custom recovery?

(htc_)fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. be sure to get the right recovery for your device/CID.
if you already flashed a RUU and didn't use twrp, for example allow system modification, don't do it and just flash stock recovery, boot up and if you get the update it should install

Not sure where to find the recovery.img
The ZIP file I flashed to my phone is working fine. Inside it has 1 to 24 zip files, the first one has recovery_signed.img but everytime I try to extract it I get a error both from winrar and 7-zip.

yea you can't extract it without proper tools, but i don't need which tool exactly to use to extract it. and afaik winrar and 7zip are not capable of, because it is encrypted.
there are other locations where you can find it. either from a twrp backup in this forum or so

twrp custom recovery can take ota, if on stock system.img i believe.
google will be more help than I.
or someone who has taken ota on the 10.
different than previous htc devices so toss those "guides".
I believe it used to be as easy as being on stock recovery.

Seems like flashing to stock rom zip file than keep updating until it's done THAN re-flashing trwp.img and rooting works best
I have updated to 1.90.666.4
However if another update comes out and it fails I'll have to re-flash to stock and repeat the process

Since you're using fastboot and rooting and you've unlocked bootloader, is it possible to just run a stock rooted type custom rom, along with TWRP and not have to worry about the OTA? I know it can be done now with custom recovery after devices have been rooted, but it seems like a big pain in the rear.
I understand if you need or want to keep the stock rom, and I think some users can help with the OTA stuff. I just thought I'd mention now that you're this far into it.
It's been interesting using the stock rom. Did some mods to the rom

THE FOLLOWING WILL WIPE ALL PHONE DATA INCLUDING THINGS ON INTERNAL SD CARD
I downloaded the ota and then the ruu , installed stock recovery and put cid and mid of developer edition.
I pulled out the firmware from the ota , flashed it .
Then i used the ruu normally , and it worked without any problem.
That's how i got it to work coming from custom rom.

Bricked M9, Impossible to flash any firmware? Any suggestion?

This is my device situation so far:
Bottloader: LOCKED
Oem Unlocked: NO (Can't flash any recovery)
Security: S-ON
Main version: 3.36.709.9
CID: HTC__621
Recovery: STOCK
Impossible to boot into OS even after wiping data through recovery.
When trying to flash OTA zip corresponding to the same main version or higher I always get Error 22. I've tried SDCard method, adb sideload and flashing zip through fastboot (rebootRUU, flash zip, etc).
Is there any other way to flash an official firmware for this device? It'd be great to have an official RUU for my version or higher. Or maybe some software from HTC to "restore upgrade errors"?
Thanks in advance!
Check the md5 hash of the file you downloaded and cross reference it on Google. You need to make sure the file you have is complete.

What firmware are you attempting to flash? Recall that the final number in the RUU (xx.xx.xx.yy) does not have to match your phone's OS version.
The 709 SKU has a compatible RUU available in the readme thread (3.36.709.3). Since the file is hosted on Android File Host, the MD5 is posted there (look under download information). On your computer, you can install a MD5 checker (I use File Hasher) to verify that they match.
