I flashed a debloated T-Mobile ROM on my MS428, and now LGUP thinks it's a K428, even after I flashed the MetroPCS ROM back on it. I can't get back to stock again. I'm sick of this phone and I want to flash back to stock and update to Nougat so I can sell it, but it keeps failing once it hits 49% and tries to "verify" the image. Tried flashing a zip and it just reboots back into TWRP. I think it's semi-bricked.
I fixed it. With the help of berkantkz, I was able to figure it out. I had to flash a Marshmallow ROM first, then it allowed me to flash the Nougat one. It's a T-Mobile branded phone now, but better than the MetroPCS crap.

I was messing with my Gs2, trying out some new roms (it has been rooted and custom flashed since i got the phone a while ago) and ended up with a soft brick getting stuck at the Samsung screen during boot. No big deal I though (since this is my backup phone I didnt worry about it) and planned on flashing back to stock with Odin and starting over. I flashed the stock 4.1 via odin and it all seemed to go fine, but when it rebooted it got stuck at the same samsung screen. I left it there for like 20 minutes and it never booted. I then downloaded the stock 4.0 and same thing. I am about to try going back in time to the stock 2.3 and see if i can work my way forward from that, but if it doesnt work, what is the cause of the phone not being able to boot after all these stock flashes?

Im stuck in the same boat with my S4
which ODIN version are you using and are you using the links from SAMMOBILE to get the firmware you need ? also what are your methods of procedure and is odin giving out any errors or saying pass and still no boot ?
Recenttly i got a note 2 sch-i317 phone. It was runing the stock 4.3 update from att.
I am on tmobile, so i downgraded the phone to 4.1.1 and unlocked it.
Life is good and the phone is working fine.
then i get the great idea of upgrading back to 4.3 via the OTA update. And there starts all of my issues.
Orignaly i was under the impression i had used a stock att 4.1.1 to downgrade. now looking back i used a rooted version. i dont remember where i found it but here is the name of the file: root66_ATT_I317UCALJ2.tar.md5 (and i had to do a factory reset to get it to boot correctly)
Now here is the issue.
I can not get back into the recovery menu. However i can get into the Download mode.
Tried to flash TW recovery
Tried to flash CWM recovery
Tried to flash I317UCAMA4_I317ATTAMA4_ATT firmware
Tried to flash I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT Firmware
i installed Kies and installed the usb driver it came with.
At first it did not detect my phone. now it detects my phone. but during the emergency repair, it downloads and extracts the new firmware but sits at 0% (and times out) when it pushes the firmware.
Im at a lost. i have spent 14+ hours in the past 2 days working on this, and i am burning out. help
re-flashed I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT Firmware
and followed this

and my phone works again
Woo Hoo !!!!
More goodness here.

Hi everyone
Long time xda follower, newly registered, since I needed to ask a Q.
I rooted and switched to Lollipop on my ATT S3 (i747) a few months ago, Lately, I've started noticing battery issues as well as network issues with this ROM. I figure it is time for me to go back to stock.
However, if I remember correctly, when I tried previously the phone refused to downgrade back to stock. Kies was helpless because the trip counter had been reset (or something similar).
Please, is there a good how-to on downgrading this phone from Lollipop back to stock? If yes, would someone please point me to it?
Much thanks in advance.

Hmm.. I am going to give this a try:

Nope! No go!!
Triangle away reset the counter.
The stock recovery works well. I was able to boot to recovery and wipe the data and all that.
Odin says "SW Revcheck Fail" when trying to download the stock rom.
I rebooted into Lollipop, downloaded Triangle away again and reset the counter. Still Odin fails with the same message.
I tried flashing ROM first then the recovery as it was suggested in that link. Nope. Again "SW Revcheck fail". For the record, my SWREV appears to be 3. It is supposed to be 0. Triangle Away does NOT reset this. It did reset another counter (as reported by Triangle away itself - was 5, got reset to 0).
I remember *this* was the problem previously as well, hence the original Q:
How *do* you get back to stock from Lollipop on the Galaxy S3/ATT?
Meanwhile, although Keis failed to recognize the device, I tried to run a firmware recovery manually. It took a long time and in the end failed. It also messed up the recovery, so I had to flash CW again to make it bootable. I'm still back up with Lollipop at this point, but I don't want Lollipop.
Anyone anything else I can do? Any other guide out there to downgrade?
Thanks again
L
The thread you linked is for the international version of the s3.
Before flashing anything else, you need to confirm the bootloader on your phone to ensure that you don't flash anything that attempts to change the bootloader if your bootloader is mjb or newer.

Right. I finally figured it out.
First the 4.1.1 FWs weren't flashing (in other words SW REV CHK FAIL) was basically indicating that my Bootloader was far ahead of the 4.1.1. I dropped 4.1 after I figured that part out.
Next, I tried to flash a 4.4 (UCUFNE-rooted-odex is available as a zip-flash) through CWR, which didn't work (no boot, stuck at splash).
Next I got hold of a 4.3 (UCUEMJB-2024954-REV04-user-low-ship), which successfully flashed through Odin (repartition checked), but there was no sound, IMEI indicated null. Service Mode yielded a blank screen.
I flashed TWRP through Odin (was working on CWR since the beginning) and then flashed the UCUFNE-rooted-odex above on top of 4.3 through TWRP, which was successful, still no sound/IMEI/service mode.
Finally I got hold of the UCUFNE-Modembaseband zip (a small one - 20MB) and flashed that through TWRP. Both sound and IMEI came back.
I'm at 4.4.2 now, but an OTA update from ATT failed (probably because it went through TWRP)
Now I'm back to stock, albeit rooted ROM (because of the Rooted-Odex 4.4 flash), but I am a happy camper.
Thanks to XDA for various bits of info here and there. But essentially *this* is how you go back to stock from Lollipop.

Picked up a Note 2 T889 a few days ago. The phone was on 4.3 stock when I got it.
I flashed a 4.3 rom, but when it finally started up, there was no SIM card recognized - even though the phone worked fine before I flashed the rom. Being the quick thinker I am, I downloaded the 4.3 stock and attempted to flash it through Odin without any success. The firmware will lock up when it tries to flash the modem, soft bricking the phone, which I can get around by re-starting the install-recovery-then-everything-else process over.
I tried grabbing the modem.bin and flashing that straight from the stock package, but the phone still says no SIM. When I put the SIM in another phone, it works fine. I've done everything I can think of (short of putting stock back on, because again, stock won't work for some reason) to try and solve the issue. At this point, I'd deal with having stock on the phone if I could get it to recognize the SIM.
I'm going insane trying to get it solved and I know it's something simple.. Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
So I flashed a firmware update from this post, since I wasn't able to go back to stock after flashing a custom rom. "Fastboot flashing and firmware". I flashed the firmware zip via fastboot, then I ran the RUU.exe and it said the installation was completed. However, upon the first boot, my devices get stuck into the " HTC powered by Android" screen and stays there for a long time and nothing happens. I have left it for hours to see if it finally boots up but nothing happens.
My devices model is 2SP6500 US unlocked version.
It is worth mentioning that my device was originally tmobile version but after a few tweaks I convert it to the us unlock version. At first, everything worked perfect. But when I was running the US unlocked version I decided to try a custom ROM . But then I decided to go back to stock so I re-flashed the RUU.exe and that's where the problem begun. For some f#$ing reason i cant got back to stock
It is also worth mentioning that I'm able to use Resurrection Remix and LineageOS, everything boots up and all, but for some fu#ing reason, I can't go back to stock.
Now I have a very expensive paperweight.:crying::crying:

Download the ruu zip for your variant and run it from your SD card. No reason why you can't go back to stock
