Having problem with installing RR and LOS - LG K10 Questions & Answers

If you think I didn't followed the steps, I did.
I wanted to install the LOS first because it's the ''most'' popular ROM out there. Installed root with KingRoot and unlocked the bootloader with cmd. Next it was installing and flashing the TWRP recovery. I flashed it with Flashify because it didn't want to work with TWRP when flashing. Everything went fine.
Then I rebooted to recovery, did not get any secure boot error whatsoever and succesfully entered in recovery. Then I followed the guide to install the LOS in the forum and everything was great. And then when booting for the first time, it didn't want to boot to it's welcome page!:crying::crying::crying: I left it for an hour and nothing happened!!!
Same story for the RR, followed the guide (also did rooted and unlocked the bootloader) and installed it succesfully. Also the same problem... Can anybody help?
And I used LGUP for installing the stock rom back so that I can install the RR, everything was done in the 5.1.1 LP
Also, my phone is an LG k420n
And the battery was hot enough to cook some bacon on it

You must upgrade modem partition to Android 6.0

But can you root with Windows in the cmd when you install the MM because I had problems putting root in that version with KingRoot. But thanks for the help. Didn't know about that
Also, can you install a kdz file of that version so that I can flash it with LGUP?

Also, where can I find the link? Should I google it or you already know how I'll find the link?

Found the version that I needed and it's now installing. Thanks for helping me.
Also you can give me tips on how to actually install root on that version

If you want to flash LOS or RR why do you root it than?

You didn't follow the steps properly.
Look what's written here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-t3636403
Firstly, Flash the ROM mentioned below and then proceed.
Select your model:
K420DS
K420N

You didn't do this. I know why it isn't booting up to the home screen. It's because of the Keymaster. The keymaster files are not compatible with the keymaster files in "modem" partition. That's why I written in the guide that first complete these steps and move forward to install the LOS/RR/AEX.

But you didn't mentioned the version of stock ROM do you need to install in the device. That's the problem. But thanks for helping me!

Anyway...now I installed the MM and now ready to flash the LOS!!! (and I need to root it and unlock it again:crying::crying

Hi i followed all the steps as mentioned.... but after flashing restarting it is not going past Sony logo, not even the boot animation.
Please help
Hey there Just decided to share my experience. I have a D5503 and I flashed the 14.5.A.0.242 firmware. After this I decided to try to root the device, but since I had no TWRP or Clockwork it seems impossible to root. I lost my bootloader unlock too and no tool or method seems to be able to unlock it. I tried the official sony method, tried from flashtool and other similar programs but nothing seems to work (from cmd it comes up with and error message, some kind like "failed, cannot complete command or smth"). And yes,I've checked and my phone's bootloader CAN be unlocked. Any ideas what must be causing that or I just have to wait for a proper tool/method for root/BL unlocker ?

I think I bricked my brand new HTC 816

Received my new Virgin Mobile HTC 816 phone yesterday afternoon and I did the following:
1 - Unlocked the bootloader
2 - Installed CWM Recovery
3 - Did an Nandroid backup of my stock rom
4 - Flashed CM-12 for the HTC 816 and rebooted
It failed to boot into CM-12 so I restored my nandroid backup of the stock rom and it booted into a white screen and stays there. None of the buttons work and I had to wait for the battery to go dead before trying to boot back into CWM Recovery. It will not boot into fastboot, only the CWM Recovery, from within CWM Recovery I can choose Fastboot from advanced but this just boots me back into Recovery, ugghhhhhhhhhh.
I think I am screwed because if I can not get back into fastboot I can not restore the stock bootloader/recovery/rom and unbrick my beautiful new $149 phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
Relock bootloader and flash stock with ruu.exe

if I can't get into hboot or fastboot, how do I go about relocking the bootloader
So try to flash another ROM in rec maybe it boots.

I did not enable debugging before i started and do not know if it's an 816g, though it just says 816 on the box. Guess I need a flashable stock virgin mobile rom, but can only find the ruu.exe...
You can extract the rom. Zip from that ruu exe but without a locked bootloader I don't believe it will flash. USB debugging isn't required but locked bootloader is I believe for flashing stock rom . There are 2 or 3 CM based roms available that I found here at XDA that work for the Virgin Mobile U. S. single Sim variant. Model name is a5_chl. I have this same phone and am using unofficial CM12.1 I found near the end of forum for official CM12 by Grarak developer. Also there is Resurrection Remix 12CM based that I have flashed and works as well. Drummer1839's advice is good advice. Flash CM12 again or one of the others I've mentioned. First though I would flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 official instead of CWM for recovery . Heard it works better on our variant. It's what I use and never had a problem. Will find the links for you if you can't find them here yourself just don't have them at the moment.
---------- Post added at 07:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 AM ----------
That Resurrection Remix is an unofficial rom ported to our phone just like the 12.1 CM I mentioned. Their both found here in XDA just don't try to flash any official Resurrection Remix cause they don't support our phone. Only official one is the stock CM12 nightly build for the a5.

Here is the link to the unofficial 12.1 CM thread on XDA. link is a ways down the page above the git hub link.

You'll also need to flash gapps zip for 12.1CM or 12CM depending on which one you decide on and the APN fix for Virgin Mobile that your can also find linked here in XDA all in that order of flashing. Rom zip first, gapps zip second, APN zip third and your all set.

Does flashing the entire stock rom relocks bootloader?

Recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed twrp... Now i have a question does flashing the entire stock rom re-locks the bootloader...if yes, do we also get the OTA updates? i read somewhere on the internet that flashing the entire stock rom re-locks the bootloader & we can get OTA's... If we can do this why is Asus blacklisting our serial numbers while unlocking the bootloader? And when we want to unlock our bootloader again do we have to go through the same procedure that we used previously...
Nope
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
No way to safely relock bootloader. Some say flashing a RAw romimage will relock but this seems tobe hit and miss.
If you unlocked your bootloader using the unofficial tool then ASUS doesn't have your IMEI but if you did use official tool your up that creek with no paddle and a hole in the boat... If you unlock the bootloader you can put unnoficial roms onto your phone that can potentially damage hardware. If you then relocked the bootloader and reflashed the stock rom you would get it repaired under warranty and ASUS don't want that. Blacklist your IMEI means as soon as your phone gets to a repair center you pay $$$ to fix...
Is there method to have OTA updates after unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp recovery ? I unblocked booloader with unofficial method and flashed twrp. After playing couple days with cm13 went back to my backed up with twrp stock rom. What to do to have OTA back ?

Flash stock rom + boot.img +droidboot.img + recovery.img for that rom...
If you go to the pre-rooted rom thread you can get all these things and use fastboot to flash.
Just remember though, if you have busybox or xposed or anything that alters the system directory that flashing OTA will fail. Founfd he easiest thing was to re-flash the latest pre-rooted rom (with all img files having been flashed prior) works everytime...
