After flashing this and if at all I downgrade to MM will brick the phone?
Hi @Jerome-X
Thank you for your work! Will there be a deodexed version also?

Jerome-X's modified stock ROM and other TWRP flashables don't/shouldn't affect your GPT and bootloader, so if you flash this, it won't update your GPT/bootloader. This modified stock ROM only should touch the system side of your device, leaving the underlying firmware alone. You also won't be able to install OTA updates anyway.
Depending on what stock Motorola firmware you were on before you flashed this modified stock will determine if you brick by downgrading to MM (regardless of what custom/modified stock ROM you were using). If you were on the March 2017 or June 2017 stock ROMs prior to flashing TWRP, then you may run a very high risk of bricking if you downgrade to stock MM (especially if you downgrade without flashing GPT/bootloader, then forget you have a mismatched bootloader and system, and attempt to take an OTA. The OTA will patch your bootloader firmware thinking it's a MM bootloader and brick your device).
In other words, if you had the March 2017/June 2017 stock firmware on your device and your bootloader is version B1:05/B1:06, I don't recommend downgrading to stock MM, but if you do decide to downgrade, do not accept OTA updates. Again, this is regardless of what custom/modified stock ROM as these only affect the system side.
If you're on stock MM anyway and then flash this modified stock ROM, then reverting back to MM likely should be okay (though I don't know if your fingerprint sensor will work properly with this modified stock ROM without a Nougat baseband).

March 2017 was the last OTA update that I have done.
I had no issue downgrading to MM and again upgrading to the Build just before the March 2017 update. And from that build if (build on the sense official rom) I update via OTA to March update will it damage the device? The updating bootloader and the bootloader that's already present will be the same isn't it?

In theory, the March 2017 OTA may be okay to use. However, I don't know what changes the December OTA might have made to your bootloader when the OTA was installed, or whether the OTA was blocked by your newer bootloader from flashing the patches to the bootloader. From that point of view, flashing the March OTA might work okay or you might experience trouble - which is what makes downgrading and updating via OTA risky.
I cannot stop you from updating via OTA to the March update. If you want to play it safe, flash the March 2017 fastboot ROM: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195899847
Regardless, Jerome-X's NPJS25.93-14-8 modified stock ROM should flash and run on your device, regardless if you decide to update to March 2017 or stay on December 2016 (and might be the safer option rather than flashing official OTA patches).

I can answer this one
Fingerprint will work half. It will look as if you cannot register more than one finger (from the second finger you will get an error) but still they are saved. You cannot delete them anymore though (only the first finger is shown in settings). You will have to factory reset in TWRP to start over with fingerprints.
I think I already know the answer to this question but just to be sure I'll ask anyway. Will this ROM work on the XT1625? Every other custom ROM on this site that works for the Moto G+ models works on the XT1625. But the developer on this thread made a point of only listing the 164X models as compatible.
I am already running Build number NPJS25.93-14-8 stock with ElementalX 1.04 kernel and TWRP recovery. So I am assuming it will run just fine. But as the old adage goes, "Better safe than sorry."
Why does not fm radio work?
i wanted to install viper4android but SE Linux Mode changer app is not working it says make sure you have proper root access
Thanks bro
Thanks for this great job!! :good: , working on XT1644 model
Great ROM
Easiest and safest way to update to 6/17 security Nougat version. All good on Verizon XT1644 4gb/64gb/128gb msd :good:
@Jerome-X is the battery life good as on stock rom? what's the difference between stock and this modded stock? PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER!!!!

I could be wrong, but I think there's two kernels. One is AOSP and one works on the Sony AOSP. I couldn't get that kernel to boot. So far I can only get the unified 3.10 kernel to boot.
On a bit of a side note, I everyone here that has flashed the ROM has an unlocked bootloader I presume. Now, I have seen a couple posts about loss of camera quality, and a couple of other features not working, but it's always been a bit vague. Can anyone here shed some light on their experience with it, and if it's a huge difference, or if it's negligible.
Also, I've made a TA partition backup, has anyone ever restored one, and if so, does it work after the new bootloader+ recovery configuration, or only for the old standard.
I know this should probably be in general, but this is the only ROM I'd unlock it for, perhaps PA as well, and so I figured I'd post here.

In general unlocking the bootloader will decrease the camera quality especially in low light.
As for the TA partition backup, yes everything works fine after restoring it, just make sure when you restore it that you are on a stock rom because it will relock bootloader automatically, doing so on non stock rom will cause soft brick.

considering I bought this phone for a dev phone I didn't really care much about this. Plus I had already unlocked it when I found out about all this too, but if you care about your photo quality you want to back up your TA partition.

I've also unlocked the boot loader for those ROMs. Depsite I was really interested they are not usable as a daily driver, just to warn.
To be clear: PA Android ROM has major issues with screen flickering that make it almost unusable, app crashes and others. This 7.0 ROM still has some flickering but app where not crashing on my device.
The camera quality issue with unlocked bootloader depends by users usage standards, it means that if you use you Z3 as a camera, and really often, you should not unlock it, if you don't (like me) you are good to go.
Not really a problem the loss of on screen colors filters.
About the TA Partition restore I can confirm the whole thing actually works, I restored the partition once. I've also found a problem with that anyway, the original TA Backup doesn't support Z3 on restore (or at liste mine running MM). Fortunately somewhere out there, there is an updated TA-Backup.bat that supports Z3.
Now I'm not able to find the thread or the post with that file, but if you copy and paste the error from the original TA app it should pop up easily on google.
It works on Windows 10 64bit as July 2016, not checked the anniversary edition. Wrote that cause in 2015 someone wrote down that TA was not working in Windows 10.

I liked too much to use this modified stock rom, very fluid and because I recover all the functionality of Motorola. However, I only have one detail, how can I use magisk instead of supersu? Thank you in advance for the development.

Right now I try, but does not this affect the modifications that he has made to the truth?
And you mean the boot stock of Motorola, right? I have the "ATHENE_NPJS25.93-14-10" and I see that this is "93-14-07" does not affect also?
Sorry for asking so much
rom updated, please redownload
If the Moto's File Manager is Problematic then why dont you remove it .?
I think it worked for me in the previous version. Stopped giving me popup errors.

No, it doesn't affect any modifications.
Yes, I mean the stock boot.img.
As for "93-14-07", it doesn't matter.
No problems mate, ask anything else if you need.

Yes, working perfectly alright. I'm on the Indian variant too.
ROM is great, but no root can not stay. Coming back to my old ROM.
Came over to this ROM from JK's_Nougat_Series_ODEXED, mainly to get the latest security updates. All is working fine with no issues. But performance seems to be about the same overall, Also battery life is not any better or worse. However I did dirty flash so I am wondering if that may have impacted something?
Any thoughts on this guys?

Why no root? There are several ways to get root without leaving the ROM.
I am currently on the 14-7 September stock rom. Can I flash this rom without deleting the data partition?

Works Great. A few fc's at startup, but doesn't impact anything. Everything works as it should. I havn't used a custom stock rom since rwilcos did some for the note 2. Will this be able to get the oreo update when it is pushed? I know Motorola said they were going to release it eventually.

You have changed vendor, or modified vendor(not stock), OpenKirin vendor will never ever work,, so get Pure stock vendor of your device... it will work for sure... if still not, change you data filesystem...
2.) What to do if my SIMs are not working ??
Go to Extras, disable dual sim, reboot phone,, now read carefully,,
1. Install hex editor app from playstore
2. Make sure you have file explorer with root privileges
3. Open hex editor and find modem,id file on this location root/sys/firmware/devicetree/base/hisi,modem_id and open it.
4. Write down all numbers in first row
5. Then go to root/system/vendor and find phone.prop and open it with text editor.
6. Find your modem id by using search and type 0x3xxxxxx where X is your number from hex reader
7. Then make it look like this:
3.) What to do if my SafetyNet is not passed ??
Update Magisk to latest beta version, tick Magisk Hide and enable usb debugging...

Is Dual-SIM working?
Hey, fellas, a couple of doubts.
1. It is absolutely necessary to install TWRP to flash the ROM? or I can eRecovery and flash the image? In theory I should be fine with the latter, based on my experience with OpenKirin. And this brings me to my second question.
2. Do you intend to collaborate with OpenKirin?
Thank you and greetings.

pretty quiet here. I have not tried this. Tempting.
i am considering trying this right now
why are gapps unstable can't i download from the official websites or do i have to use a beta version of gapps?
is this ready as a daily driver and is it fully clean android what about screen calibration? will it offer vivid modes etc and what about the desktop mode and hdmi?
has anyone noticed any other issues than hotspot wifi?
edit:it seems it is impossible to install custom roms if you updated to the latest EMUI, they won't let you unlock the bootloader so i will likely return this phone i am honestly angry

no, too concerned that I'm going to brick it.
I tried it and couldn't get it to boot on my friends Huawei 10 pro BLA-A09 C567 firmware .119. I ended up having to reflash his phone for him.
has anyone else on a US variant tried this? We're all afraid, aren't we??
getting error 7 it won't accept the file and now i am stuck with no os worrying the phone is bricked now as nothing works
lineage does not work because the zip is invalid (used twrp unofficial version)
this rom does not work because of error 7
fyi if you flash this make sure not to connect to the internet on setup, if you do it will start looking for an update and get stuck there you won't be able to skip it because it won't let you continue without a Connection, i assume you can get around this by skipping connecting to wifi but i am not sure.

This is why I recommend backing up your system in twrp before flashing new Roms.
I did not flash the Rom with gapps together. So i did not have this Problem.

Not sure if you count this as try, but I did try to flash this through unofficial twrp on my mate 10, it ways that the rom is for hi6250 not for kirin970 and the flashing always fails.

Good afternoon.
I would like to know if this ROM has a Google Play (Safety Net) certificate.
Thanks for the development.

Hi, this blog post should answer your question.
Wow, so happy to see this thread. Especially since I just placed an order for the phone an hour ago.
Will you be writing instructions on how to unlock the bootloader and install recovery?
Or should we follow the same steps from the AOSP thread?
Thanks a lot!
Hello, I flashed it in twrp and it failed. Then I tried to flash it using fastboot, and it stopped at the sony logo

You can check sony.com for bootloader unlocking instructions. For flashing my builds, you can either use TWRP or Lineage recovery.

Please be more specific:
Which TWRP build did you use?
Why did it fail; which error code was returned? Do you have a recovery log?
How did you extract fastboot images from the OTA zip file?
Model number of your device?

thank you for your reply
Before flashing, I flashed the Stock firmware with version number 52.1.A.0.672, TWRP comes from MartinX3
‘Https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz2/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-1-0-t4074305’
But I flashed the generic twrp of firmware 52.1.a.0.618, so it stopped at the TWRP logo and could not enter twrp.
Then I used ‘payload_dumper’ to extract the fastboot image. Based on the stock firmware version 52.1.A.0.672, I flashed it using fastboot, but it stopped on the SONY logo.
I flashed the generic twrp of firmware 52.1.a.0.618 on the Stock firmware with the version number 52.1.A.0.618, and twrp can be used normally. Then I flashed LineageOS 17.1 in twrp. It succeeded.
Currently I am enjoying LineageOS 17.1
My model is SONY XPERIA XZ2 Compact Dual

I am also running stock firmware 52.1.A.0.672 currently and would like to install 17.1
If I understood your comment correctly, I will have to first downgrade the firmware to 52.1.a.0.618?
And then install TWRP for 52.1.a.0.618?
flashing magisk doesnt work on this

Yes friend, if you want to install LineageOS 17.1, you should first downgrade the firmware to 52.1.a.0.618, then install TWRP for 52.1.a.0.618
My English is very poor, so I use google translation to help me, there may be some grammatical errors, please forgive me
How is the camera in Lineage?
Is it good like stock or is it like in pixel experience?

I think it goes without saying that the camera on custom ROMs will never be as good as on Stock, but I'd say the quality is pretty OK nevertheless. It should definitely be better than on Pixel Experience - they use Sony AOSP (SODP) as a base, while this port uses the Stock blobs and kernel.

Will the camera app permit to record DNG files (RAW) and not only JPG. If such, I'd be very grateful if someone could share a DNG files. I'd like to check if is is supported by Adobe Lightroom. I would report once checked.

Okay, thanks for your answer
Thanks, no issues so far. I have switched from my SODP based lineage builds to yours, because of the defunct camera in SODP.
Never occurred to me to use the stock binaries.. Great stuff, thanks!
Hi, I have been having weird touch screen issues with my stock unrooted zx2 compact. ( sometimes the screen just goes unresponsive no touch inputs work, I have to lock then unlock the screen for it to work again).
I'm wondering if anyone has noticed this on this Rom if it's a hardware issue or if its software then I can try a custom Rom.

Not yet, so far.
What I encountered:
- switching to loudspeaker during a call does not work - all is just muted
- Notification LED can be turned on somehow, but does not really work and can not be adjusted
- shutter button does not start the camera

Call via loudspeaker is normal, you need to use the mic on the top of the phone. It's not a bug, it is designed by Sony.
Notification LED works fine for me. You can describe your issue more detailly.
Camera key is a bug of LineageOS, we had no idea about it now.
